I Did This For A Contest On The Fates Amino. It's Not Really Done, But I Had A Time Crunch And Figured

I did this for a contest on the Fates Amino. It's not really done, but I had a time crunch and figured something was better than nothing. Actually, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. It's the first time I've attempted anything approaching realism with watercolors

Second part of inking, done. TFW there are SOOOO many things wrong, but you're like "fuck it, good 'nuff". In my head canon, Valla has a kind of grecco/roman aesthetic going on. Vallite swirls are fun to draw. Also, scales. As far as I'm concerned, whenever a character has the Dragonskin ability, it's because they have fucking dragon skin. It is a painful mutation that leaves them pemanantly disfigured, and in serious (but rare) cases, can even lead to death. The hardening of the skin might not stop at the dermis, but bore down all the way to the muscle. On an arm, this can lead to stiffness or paralysis- on the chest or throat, it can lead to respitory arrest. My Fates headcanon is a very dark one.

So, years ago, I was super into Fire Emblem Heroes. I played that shit religiously, almost from day 1. I loved the idea of it, that characters from older games and the less popular ones from newer games might get new art and voice lines. I played for so long, hoarding my orbs like a dragon, in hopes that characters I liked would get alts, and when the whole resplendent thing happened, that they might at least get skins.

I was sorely mistaken, and I uninstalles the game once fallen!Edelgard made it clear that my hopes for a fallen!Gunter were as misplaced as people in hell hoping for ice water. But before I purged FEH from my heart, I'd drawn respendent alts for my most used units. I posted them on Reddit, but now I'm posting them here (these are the digital color versions- each image started life as a pen and paper illustration that I'll upload when I can find them)

Hel!Gunter is the canon one- I just wanted to try making a masculine fairy design. I DO actually have proper Ljósálfar and Dökkálfar resplendents/alts (just pen drawings, no digital) and a Niðavellir and Joutun design. I might finish/polish them one day.

(You can probably guess the theme for my old default arena/aether raid team~♡)

So with advice of the dead

And a halo over my head

At last, honey I'm home

Three voices call out, all alone...

Yet more art I posted on the bird app but not on Tumblr. I did these ink paintings to commemorate finishing my Fire Emblem Fates: Revalation rewrite. These are the characters that drive the story forward, and jesus christ, you can't understand how impossible it is to capture just how shiny these pieces are IRL. Like, looking at these things when the light hits them makes me understand how religious art was able to captivate medieval peasants (also, if it's not painfully obvious, these are heavily inspired by Catholic art- or, more accurate, they're inspired by the art of Blasphemous, which is inspired by spanish Catholic art).

Here are some close ups that I think show off the gold ink a little better:

So With Advice Of The Dead
So With Advice Of The Dead

That picture of Nerr is genuinely my favorite piece of art I've ever created. Even if I do something that is technically (as in, on a technical level) "better", it will never fill me with the overwhelming sense of pride that this painting gives me.
