A folktale from an imaginary land. What's good for the dragon need not be good for the sailor, and no malevolence is required for ill fortune to strike.

TIME TO FINALLY ANSWER THESE

1-

Oh yes i did!

First of i believed in fairies since i was little kid. And a lot of fun little beliefes came with that

Then we get to superstition , i dont know it this one is a brazilian thing or if we have in another countries but basically it is : If you leave your shoes turned upside down on the floor your mom is gonna fucking die , so yeah NEVER leave the shoes upside down .

2-

" The Frog King or Iron Henry " Not for being a "romantic tale" but because it is hillarious , i pick it up whenever i need to cheer up a bit

3-

Besides from the story i already mentioned, im big on picking favorites

4-

Yes! I remenber owning little fairytale puzzle books when i was very very little, i had multiple fairytale books growing up ( i still own one of the ones i had when i was 8 )

I also grew up on greek myths and my own country folklore, some of it scared me when i was little but oh boy do i love brazilian folklore and i am gratefull that the school i went to loved to teach us about it

5-

I cant remenber very well actually picking a favourite?? Little red ridding i guess

6-

My sister gave me a pocket editton book, its a really beautiful one with stories by multiple authors and very pretty old illustrations , its perfect because it is a pocket edittion, i carry it almost everywhere i go, thanks sis!!

7-

WEREWOLVES !!!!!! I could talk about them for hours

8-

" The Red Shoes " is the first one that comes to mind , it feells very bad natured with all the religious stuff in it-

Second of is " Sun , Moon and Thalia " ... Do i even have to explain the disconfort?? I kinda forced myself to read it knowing - that - part would come . It makes me feel sick

9-

I'm actually not sure?? I think my own though

10-

Once again i am gonna say my own. Brazil is a very big country with a very rich and wide culture, even if this is the country i was born and grew up in it feels like theres always more to learn

11-

BRAZILIAN WEREWOLVES ARE NOT WOLVES

Yes, you read that right, no not even maned wolves! Even a lot of brazilian people dont know about it. We do have wolves here so the werewolf folklore that came from europe shifted with it.

You see lobisomens as we call them ( this word still translates to werewolf, even if there's no wolf involved ) , will roll thenselves on the ground at a crossroad and with that take the form of the animals that walked on said crossroad.

So we have the most common one, dogs with gigantic ears that go down to the floor and clap behind them when they run, pigs , and even donkeys!

12-

Right now, i have no idea. I might come here later and change this answer

13-

Please, for the love of God , for everything that is sacred-

Stop the abo dinamic in modern werewolf media, come the fuck on- we all know this comes from extremelly outdated wolf research , its all wrong.

I cant take the " dominating horny alpha male werewolf grr grr 😔 " anymore

14-

I would take the religious stuff out of " The Red Shoes " it would be a fun fucked up tale about a girl who gets a fucked up pair of shoes without it

15-

Not that i can remenber

16-

I dont think this ever happened lmao

17-

Fairytales! Then myths and legends come in, then fables.

18-

As a reader, no . As someone who wants to go depper in studying fairytales, i would like to learn more on this subject

19-

I'm not sure?? Theres so much stuff i cant really think straight and go " oh i wish i had this "

20-

Gifted animal

The spirit situation could be really creppy, and the enchanted human... It could either be very chill or something creppy you dont wanna get involved in, so yeah, gifted animal it is

21-

I love the term fairytale!! We call them fairytales too here the translation being " Contos de Fadas " , but we also have another term " Contos da Carochinha " that actually comes from Portugal, " carochinha " being " Little cockroach " wich is actually a character, i can compare this to Mother Goose situation i think , but it gets very generalised and ends up just becoming another way of saying fairytale

I have always been partial to stories which feature the removal of many layers of clothing as an important plot element. One of my favorite Scandinavian folktales is about a queen who, through some magical conception mishap, gives birth to twins. The younger twin is beautiful and normal in every way, but the older twin is just. Y’know. A big horrible snake with arms.

When the younger twin grows up and wants to get married, the lindworm returns and insists that he, as the elder prince, must be married first. When a massive horrible snake with arms lays down the law like that there isn’t really any room for disagreement, but it turns out to be awfully hard to find a bride willing to marry him. The king and queen search far and wide for a woman who will take a husband who is 50 feet long, doesn’t have legs, and may or may not eat his would-be wives when they are appalled by him, but eventually they find a local shepherd’s daughter who is either coerced, a monsterfucker, or just very open-minded and agrees to marry the lindworm.

Depending on the version, the bride either seeks out the advice of a witch or comes up with the idea all by herself, and goes to the bedchamber on her wedding night dressed in many layers of dresses. Her big horrible snake with arms husband is waiting for her and bids her to disrobe, but she asks him to shed a skin as well. Her sexy Russian nesting doll cosplay has so many layers that by the time she is naked, he has shed all of his skins and is 1.) either a sexy naked human dude underneath or 2.) is this meaty blob of helpless worm meat that must be whipped and bathed in chemicals before he transforms into a sexy naked human dude. Either way, they presumably live happily ever after and the younger prince can finally get married.

I’d like to know how the elder prince adjusted to having a human body. He was born a lindworm and lived his entire life slithering around—he’s never worn pants! He’s never had to sit on a toilet! What’s he gonna do now that he’s a sexy 20-something heir to the throne? Is it a shock for him when he looks down and he’s just got one sexual organ? His butt is in the back now, he’s got to shave, he’s got to eat with a fork and a knife and chew his food instead of unhinging his jaw and swallowing it whole.... is it weird for him? Is his honeymoon spent learning to walk on two legs? Is his instinct to crawl out of bed and drag himself across the floor by his arms? Does he roll onto his back and play dead when he gets scared? Does he wrap his torso around his lunch and attempt to constrict it? Is his wife... into this?

The Old German Tale Says:
The Old German Tale Says:

The old German tale says:

In the very beginning of all times, Snow longed for a colour to be whole. In its adoration of all the flowers' coulours, it aspired one of them would share their own colour with the Snow. However, the flowers too proud, finding the Snow cold and harsh, did not like it to be the same colour as themself. After all the failed search, the disappointed Snow was at last seen by a little humble flower. Her hope and sympathy gifted the Snow its significant white colour and in return the Snow swore a place and no harm of its sharp crystals to the kind maiden. Ever since, the Snow and the Snowdrop in their grace, together bring a new beginning.
