New project release day! This Zaku goes PEEEeeeWwww...!!!. My inspiration was based on “Stardust Memories” where old Zeon Mobile Suits have been repurposed into Federation’s frontline. Check out the project at https://itisagunpla.com/bandai-1-144-hg-ms-05l-zaku-1-sniper-type/

Ya girl is building gunpla again, no this is not an addiction........
....yet
Gonna post something I'm currently working on, my first ever Gundam. My friends have been trying to get me to watch it for over a decade now, and I finally caved. Unfortunately, I like it. So I dug up the one gunpla I had bought at a con back in like 2015 and started painting it up. Haven't watched Iron Blooded Orphans yet, only the original 0079, but this has been fun so far. Here's the kit simply fully assembled
I love over the shoulder guns, probably why I snagged it back in the day. Now here she is, disassembled with a base coat
And after a couple layers of gradients here we are currently. Pretty close to the decal and weathering stage. Sadly I lost the decal sheet, but I'll figure something out
Hoping to get it done before Char's Zaku gets here
An update to my gunpla post, Flauros is progressing nicely but hoo boy are some of these steps tedious. First was doing the final brush details, sealing it, then doing my decals. I have a big ol stack of Warhammer decals, most of these are space marine and imperial guard ones since I lost the real decal sheet
After that comes the chipping. Same thing I do for my battlemechs, just a bigger scale than I've done before
Finally the oil wash, the same mix I use for most things, 3 parts black, 2 parts brown, and 1 part red, thinned down and scrubbed off after with some spirits
My next post tomorrow should be the final assembled shots, just finished the last clear coat to seal everything together
Ah, finally done. A satisfying project, I'll definitely be doing more in the future. Given the watch list I'm using, it's gonna be a while before I even watch Iron Blooded Orphans, I'm still on the One Year War side stories. Gundam Flauros or Ryusei-Go
A fun project I took on after I realized I didn't have the shelf space for all the gunpla I would like. I'll just make em battletech scale instead. Here's my 6 standard Zaku ii I printed n painted
"Don't talk to me or my son ever again"
I ran into a creative wall painting my player character for Lancer, so I decided to take a break and revisit gunpla. I love the Zaku, and I'm glad I did research on all the different available kits before buying a couple. This is the High Grade kit for Chars Zaku ii from the Origin movies, which has a much more detailed chassis than previous High Grades.
Oh, I also 3D printed a new eye ring, since the one you get is just flat and you slap a sticker on it, lame.
I have the Real Grade Chars Zaku ii as well, which I'll be painting in his colors, so for this one I went with the classic green. This was fun and relaxing, and much easier than my first attempt at gunpla
I went ahead and did up the heat hawk as well for some posing fun. The kit also comes with the bazooka and the huge anti ship rifle, but I intended this to be a pretty bog standard grunt so I'm saving the extra kit for Chars
My Master Grade Gramps has been taunting me at 90% completion for weeks while I fuck around with Magic card and MechWarrior so I finally finished him last night
I didn't really grasp the height difference between this monster and a normal 1:144 HG or RG kit, the sheer mass of the panels had put me off for a while after I built him
It's a good kit, but the dedication to having removable core section for the fighter means the midsection is a little iffy, I'd have preferred a solid skeleton
Anyways back to disappearing for another month or whenever I finish a project next
Fucking gorgeous.
ReBerry Gundam
Because it’s berry pink~
The actual Reborns Gundam has a myriad of gimmicks, where as it’s matching kit… really doesn’t. To correct the, my version has: Set of 4 Fangs in the shield. Rear skirt has a set of 4 Fangs. Side skirts are a pair of funnel-type weapons. Alt-mode’s cannons double as Funnels- It’s rear fins also have a set of 4 smaller funnels. The claws on the alt-mode can extend and project fire, etc. For the fun of it, I used blue polycaps.
Color scheme was suggested by @hatsunezaku
*breaks out swearing*
Lfrith Anokta / Anavata released... and as expected, P-Bandai
While I’ve already given my opinions on Gundam Build Metaverse the series (tl:dr, it’s shit), I would like to give a small update on two of the model kits:
The 00 Diver Arc is (surprise, surprise) based on the 00 Diver kit, which is itself based on the original 00 Gundam Kit. While you can’t swap to the original chest parts (since they’re not included) you should be able to exchange the outer shell of the head for that of the original 00 (they share the face, but a lot of the outer parts are new so it should be a simple changeover). Though of course, this assumes that the 00 runners aren’t replaced (I’ll update this post if I find out they are).
What I’m trying to say is; It’s still a build fighters kit, so you can probably change a few parts around if you want to.
The other kit is the Shin Burning Gundam (Left), because I realised it’s literally just the Kamiki Burning Gundam with wings and a new V-fin slapped on. So if you missed out on the Kamiki, the Shin’ll probably scratch that same itch. (We’ve had four Build Burning Gundam’s now, wild). Though it may come with different effect parts.
This is the cutest thing i've ever seen.
Finally getting around to posting these!
Finished work on my Crossbone Gundam ver. ka, by far one of my most enjoyable builds to date. Had a lot of fun weathering this and coming up with a small narrative for the scene. I’ll try and go into detail of the weathering sometime here or you can probably piece it all together on my IG @ rokkupla
It could be that they’re based on different art pieces I think? So depending on the source depends on the colour.
Or it could be different dye prices for the plastic, so one becomes cheaper based on the prices at the time they were made?
It could just be overall colour compliments, but that doesn’t feel likely.
Hey Gunpla nerds, I have a question, if anyone is willing to shine some light that would be awesome!
Recently I’ve taken to trying to collect every single Char Custom suit, by that I mean one of each per available grade (i.e. a HG, RG, MG, PG, and Mega Size Zaku; a HG and MG Gelgoog; a HG Nightingale; etc)
After finally cleaning off a shelf to put the collection near each other I’ve noticed something… something rather odd.
For some reason each Char suit has one of two different color pallets.
Exhibit A. The Zaku II Brothers
Now my lighting isn’t great but I think this displays my point quite well. The RG and MG Zaku both have a light pink-salmon as their main color, with a saturated crimson for their vests and skirt armors. The HG on the other hand, is starkly more… well red. Granted that was also hot off the runners, the red has cooled to a salmon color, but still not as pink as it’s more detailed counterparts
Exhibit B. The Z’gok Brothers
Here the Z’goks have almost the exact opposite issue. The MG and HG have the redder salmon color, while the RG is a lighter pink. Of course the colors are everywhere with the RG so I am just referring to the upper body
Finally Exhibit C. The HG Rick Dom and HG Gelgoog
Now the lighting is worse here because they’re both on a lower shelf, but as you can see by their baggy leg armor thats right next to each other, the Gelgoog is, again, a darker salmon compared to the pink Rick Dom
I had noticed these differences while doing work in my room and absolutely not while drifting off, staring at and thinking about my model kits
One last piece of evidence I have come across is the age of the kits. The youngest 2 red salmons are from 2023 (Zaku Revive) and 2006 (Gelgoog) while the oldest Pink suit is from 2007 (MG Zaku II 2.0), And even the Rick Dom is actually from a 2015 kit. Assuming the Revive is simply replicating the plastic color of the original 2000s kit, so…
What’s up with that? Why did Bandai just decide to make Char’s suits more saturated in 2007? This is the question I have been pondering for a while…
And yes it’s kinda petty to look this far into “why my plastic different?” But at the same time it’s just a bizarre and petty change too. Why not keep the red? Why switch plastic colors after 2006 and only switch them back for recreating older kits? It’s so mind boggling …
chuchu my beloved 🥹
Tsk. I hoped the resemblance would be greater. Oh well.
Gonna turn this fucker into a Zeon suit because I’m having cognitive dissonance with liking a seed model, also the movie was ass but fun
