every time i accidentally upload a choptop or nubbins drawing without their birthmark on their cheek i die a little inside
i just know for a fact if nubbins and choptop went inside of an art school people wouldnt even give a second glance at them
What was the most interesting thing about Franknub?
i guess the most interesting is how similar both Nubbins and Franklin are, even while living such different lives. constantly in the movie Franklin is cast aside, and pushed 'out of the way' by sally's friends, even with Kirk suggesting to just leave him out there so they could have fun. i can see this in a certain light with nubbins too, with Drayton wanting to keep him in the quiet so no one finds out what they do to people, and ultimately their lives are strung down to survival and keeping any trespassers away from them at all costs. the sawyers are doomed inevitably to their surroundings and tied to their past from what they've already done, and with Franklin, i feel as though he's tied down by other people's neglect and low expectations of him and he almost always gets left behind for it. Both of them in a way feel sort of lost to others in society, thinking that they're doomed to live out a life where they wont be understood by others. so i guess looking at it like this, its not as hard to see how they'd get along so easily. they know each other have been, in some way or another, seen as an 'other' compared to other people (whether it be with Nubbins' odd mannerisms or general ableism made toward Franklin from Sally's friends).
it's a lot to think about and to digest how they interact and such but honestly their whole dynamic has a grip on me and i think its genuinely fascinating!!

god i love this analysis. the back and forth within the family is so interesting to see in between the scenes of terror from the view of the victims. while the sawyers are in a way inherently doomed to the life style they live, they almost act like a traditional family among each other. underneath the dramatic and gruesome outer display is a family that still cares for each other. also the thought of Nubbins being stuck in the mind set of a rebellious teen as a grown man is SO interesting to me, and it honestly makes so much sense too. and with Drayton being a driving force as the oldest there to give orders (aside from grandpa of course), and with Nubbins being the way he is, it’s definitely got to be stressful for Bubba to be pushed into a role as a care giver; be it he does most of the hunting and also takes it upon himself to tend to the other people in the house, whether it be caring for grandpa and probably cleaning and other household chores since majority of his family is just out of the house most of the time. the small bits shown of the sawyers being domestic amongst each other is honestly so intriguing it makes me a tad sad we weren't able to see more scenes like that played out. this also really makes me wonder about how family life was before the brothers were old enough to carry on their heinous line of work/survival. the thought of their lives being so simple and so regular only to unfold into this is something both eerie and kind of sad in a way. sure, they mightve ‘always been in meat’ but i kind of feel like deep down, they couldve been something completely different. but now, there’s no going back for them.
i think it’s really cute how bubba gestures for nubbins to move grandpa, and it takes a moment for him to register
