superhero comics will always be the best genre of modern fiction purely because sentient talking gorillas will just fucking manifest in a story. literally no other form of contemporary storytelling has the balls to do this and it is lesser for it.
look, i have a postgraduate degree in literature. i can name 5 sentient talking monkes from DC alone. i cannot name a single monkey, sentient or otherwise, in a single work of the literary canon. charles dickens? more like charles fuck off dickhead show me the monkey
