so like, you know how it's weird to write young characters across generations? like a ten year old in the 90s and a ten year old in the 2010s are just dramatically different ten year olds, due to different cultural truths and technological advancements those ten year olds are exposed to?
do you think, with the majority of kids being more aware about neurodivergence and mental illness, tim and damian routinely need to explain to dick and barbara that bruce isn't intentionally ignoring their emotions when he's hyperfixating on shit, he's just autistic

people do not actually behave like this when you acquire a disability. acquiring a disability is traumatic, not just for the disabled individual, but for the people in their life who must re-learn that person's life and reality, yes. that is true.
but they see you continue to live and in time the disability becomes normal, just a feature of life. when you see your friend remove his prosthetic or waggle his stumpie for the first time, it's weird and uncomfortable; if you still find it weird and uncomfortable after a year, you are being a freak. adjusting to a new communication need is frustrating and it's natural to feel distant from someone while you learn the nuances of their aac; but you DO learn, and as you become fluent, the frustration does fade. the first time a friend rolls up in their chair after an injury can be shocking and let's be honest, no, you do not know the right thing to say and neither do they - that is a moment that will always be awkward. that awkwardness does pass, and you see the individual, not the chair.

in a way, they make themselves the victim of barbara's disability. she's built a life and she's moving on but the men that surround her constantly think of the chair and not the woman in it - with the exception of dick ofc, his flaw is that he thinks cops are human, not that he thinks crips are inhuman.
it's an unexplored nuance of bruce - that, in a way, his sense of guilt for barbara's disability is selfish, and that when he mourns who she was to the partial exclusion of who she has been able to become, he does rob her of that new identity.
It's so funny to read the comments. It's Sad too, but also funny. Like people saying that Christianity "stole" jewish people religion or that the catholic church is the organization that killed more people in history. I remember when i believed those things and can understand the line of thought. Study history people. The crazier comment for me goes for the person saying we are polytheist.

I need a fic like this
time travel fanfic idea where Jason comes back to before he was adopted, him and Batman still meet and he still ends up being adopted by Bruce Wayne, but he just refuses to acknowledge Batman and Robin, he acts like a civilian boy, he has over thirteen extracurriculars that Bruce does his best to keep up with. He regularly works out and trains all the fighting he's learned over the years, he goes on a gap year before college to recuperate the all blades and pretends to be the civilian in a family of crime fighting vigilantes.
He's doing pre-med and keeps nagging his siblings to go to college too (Cass, Tim), Duke is the one who spends more time with him bc everyone else is nocturnal and sleep through the day, but Jason likes to drive Duke to his classes and pick him up so they can have lunch together, Damian had a hard time at first, because Jason speaks every language that he speaks and all bat related things have to stay at the cave, his league training didn't prepare him for a civilian brother.
During an attempted kidnapping during one of the Wayne galas, Jason's whole plan almost gets blow up because one of the guys has taken a woman hostage and his Red Hood fried brain just pounced on the dude with all his might, wrestled him for the gun and kept him stuck under his boot with the gun pointed between the guys brows.
He had to pretend to be scared when Batman came to the rescue and act like he didn't know how to handle a gun.
+ Alfred 100% thinks Jason was on a children gang and that's why he's so good with knives, guns and rifles, but who's he to say anything about people's past
This webtoon reminded me so much of the x-men. Outside of the obvious, its themes are very similar to x-men. Most people interpret the x-men as being about minorities, which is right, but It's also about the circle of violence, which is portrayed very well in This webtoon.
