Little moments in Narnia
• lying by a crackling fire looking up at the Narnian constellations on a breezy Summer night
• walking through the wintery Narnia woods in moonlight and hearing the songs and hooves of dancing fauns somewhere in the distance
• Cair Paravel just as the sun is rising- the hallways filling with golden sunlight, the rest of the castle not yet awake
• Standing on one of Cair Paravel’s many balconies at night, listening to the Narnian music floating in from the ballroom and the lively chatter, but also the quiet mysterious sounds of Narnia at night just beyond the castle
• walking barefoot along the sandy beach and warm water below Cair Paravel as the sun is setting

guess what i'm NOT done talking about their relationship because LOOK AT THIS
i already talked about the fact that Edmund is standing up with the archers instead of at Peter's side, but i fully forgot to talk about this moment
This moment is when Jadis shows up, she pulls to the front of her army, and they're about to fight. Peter doesn't speak to Orius, he doesn't look to one of the more skilled fighters with him, he turns around to look up at Edmund.
Not only is this a really... TERRIBLE idea, seeing as he's pretty much turning his back to his enemy, but more importantly, this is the second time we've seen Peter looking to someone (who isn't Aslan) for reassurance/support.
what is the first time, you ask?
After the news of Aslan's death reaches the camp, and Peter finds himself now in charge of the army. He says he can't do it, he can't lead them, and in return, Edmund tells him "Aslan believed you could. And so do I."

Peter's not looking to see if Edmund's safe, he knows that he is, he knows that his little brother is tucked away and unable to be harmed (for now). He's looking to see if Edmund still believes in him, if he can somehow see what Edmund sees. Edmund, after experiencing so much and seeing the worst that Jadis has to offer, still believes in his big brother, he knows that Peter is going to be able to keep them safe, he knows that Peter can do this, and THAT'S when Peter steps up.
That's when he draws his sword, when he lets out his battle cry, when he steps into the role as High King.
The thing about Peter that always gets me is how scared he is. He's so scared he won't be able to protect his siblings, he's so scared he won't be able to protect Narnia, he's so scared that he won't be able to live up to the legendary image people have of him. When he lashes out in anger -- against his siblings or Caspian -- it's just out of that fear.
Everything he manages to do is despite that fear, because it's his job. He is the eldest; he is the High King. But he's also a kid. He's only seventeen in Prince Caspian (in the movie, I think he's younger in the book), but he's already seen so much and borne so much, and he's so incredibly scared of letting everyone down.

You know what the Peter & Caspian relationship tag on ao3 is pathetic I shall have to fill it with book canon content myself
do you ever get just a little annoyed because people seem to ignore the books in fanfiction or is that just me?
it was Narnia this time, i have yet to find a fanfic with more than a subtle nod to the books.
i just want Susan/Caspian with the books and Peter and Caspian being friends and Caspian having known about the Narnians still living plz just look at book canon for a moment i am B E G G I N G
