The Brink of Consciousness series is on sale for $2.50 each!! GET THEM!
So one thing I've noticed is how Curioso's appearance changes a few times during the game, from a ragged/torn set of clothing, to an almost pristine appearance. And there's really nothing said about it, despite it being...clear as day..?

He has holes in his clothes, he's missing a bell, his mask and hands are damaged/cut, he's lost a couple accessories like his mini top hats and beads from his belt.
VS
Intact and vibrant clothing, has his yellow trim, looks just like the day he got them, limbs appear to be brand new.

--When Curioso first found his costume, it was on a random park bench and he had to sew a hole in it. But that's nowhere near the disrepair in the first pic...
So, my theory..?
Curioso can manipulate & control how he looks, his clothing not being an exception. But since he's been trapped for decades, and possibly went through a transformation to be who he is, his clothes got damaged in the process. So when he's in the 'real' world, he has a more difficult time maintaining control of his appearance, so his clothes constantly change depending on his grasp on them. But in HIS world(the box), he has a much easier time adapting himself and his surroundings, hence why he looks so much better there vs outside.
I recently remembered a Hidden Object game that scared me as a kid and I never got to finish it. I found the game on Steam (Sea Legends: Phantasmal Light) and played it properly! It was good, the atmosphere is creepy and I like the older-looking graphics.

Most people were having problems getting the game to work with its resolution - I struggled with a few crashes at first, but got it running. It was worth it; I enjoyed the experience.
I still can't comprehend what happens in this game, all the blood and (past) deaths you witness, yet the main character we play as looks like THIS:

^ The Steam link, if anyone wants to try it..!
So I replayed the True Fear: Foresaken Souls games for Halloween, and I still think they're very good!
I knew I remembered a game that had me working in a computer, and it was in these! I'm amazed with how they integrated the 3D scenes in their gameplay. The part with the ballerina and the hole in the wall was...incredible. It didn't really scare me this time going in, since I remembered more than I thought, but it still got me at certain points... </3
I was curious and looked on the developer's Facebook page for updates on True Fear: Foresaken Souls Part 3. Good news is they just posted an update this Halloween!

Here is the previous info and sneak-peek photos posted back in June:

Excited to see this still in development, and can't wait for its release..!

The inside of Curioso's box is super interesting - it's filled with masks/heads, dolls, mannequins, etc. and a singular room along with a theater/puppet show space.
Seeing as Curioso has artificial arms & legs, I can see him taking the limbs from one of his figures. A lot of the mannequins are dressed up as part of a theater play - which points to my theory that Curioso was part of a carnival/circus act under his curse. Either that, or he lives for the aesthetic. Another possibility is he made them himself - since in the Bonus Chapter, we see him making a similar present for Emily, the girl he likes at the time.
Some of the mannequins are blank - and I wonder if Curioso traps some of the souls he captured inside these dolls? Or if he just keeps them around as company?
Just curious, but what are your guys' personal Hidden Object game annoyances?
Mine would have to be the mandatory making potions/recipes. It happens in almost every game and I HATE IT.
I've been reading some old reviews on the Big Fish Games site for Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome, and I found a few recurring points that I...disagree with?
A common complaint was that (spoilers ahead, here) the protagonist loses to the villain, and people want to play games that have 'good endings', and not 'disappointments'. Call me a Villain Sympathizer or whatever (because I am), but I find it's much rarer to have a story where the villain actually wins, and to see that in a Hidden Object game of all things is extremely hard to come by.
-There is a plot hole worth mentioning in Oscar's framing of Sam that's been pointed out before -- the fact that Sam is actively carrying and using a voice recorder on his person, which you can revisit all of Oscar's dialogue with. All he would have to do is play the recordings to the authorities where Oscar confesses to the crimes, and he would be free to go, wouldn't he?
...Still, I love the surprise ending where Oscar frames Sam and succeeds in doing it. It's a complete turnaround from typical HOPAs where you're the hero and you effortlessly save a town/people/etc. But in Dorian Gray Syndrome, you get to see the protagonist face an unjustly ending despite doing everything right. It really is a 'Villain wins in the end' story, and I wish there were more like it, just to break from the usual story cliches of Hidden Object games.

Cannot emphasize how lovely this game looks. Bonfire Stories my BELOVED

What would you guys say are the BEST and WORST Hidden Object games you've played, and why? 🤔
