i don't know which of my few brain cells thought it would be a good idea to draw anything in the style of the original manga but it deserves to be annihilated

the fact that i haven't actually read the manga isn't exactly helping

no, wait, it's serious question here! you see, i'm actually about to move my activity from my old main blog (@margarethelstone) to a new one, and i realised i have two ways of doing it:

create a side blog to this blog and keep my writing and reblogs there while keeping the artblog separated

rename helstoneart-2 and turn it into a main blog, with writing, art and all else kept in one place

the second option really just came to me today, as obvious at it may seem, so i'm still hesitant. on one hand, it would be easier, having one blog for all, especially as some projects (Our Sleeves, chihayafuru miraculous au) consist of both writing and art. also, i have my 113 followers (❤) here, and since the content of the artblog overlaps with that of writing, it wouldn't be that much of a change

BUT

i'm still anxious! because i kinda like the idea of having a separate artblog! i am also fond of having it 'clean', and only containing original content! and...

...i guess i'm kinda afraid of you guys losing interest too, since you're here for art in the first place. right?

so please, please be so kind and let me know how you feel about those changes! would you follow the blog still if there was other content here too? would that be too much? maybe you've done something similar in the past and can share some knowledge about what works and what doesn't, or have things you regret doing?

tldr; please let me know if art is all you're here for. going on anon is fine, being painfully honest is fine, too. i'm doing research, not looking for affirmations.

hi again! i thought i'd send a separate ask for this. im the chihayafuru anon. i wouldn't mind seeing your writing on your blog. tbh, i can't guarantee i'd read it because i came for the art, but i wouldn't be annoyed to see it. if anything, i'd just think, "oh that cool person who likes chihayafuru is on my dash again :)"

last year i posted about seeing fruits basket 2nd season and needing a shock blanket.

i saw season 3 and a blanket won't be enough.

for the art trademark thing, i don't really know because im not an artist and don't really notice those details. but maybe the way you colour the hair in your characters? 🤷‍♀️ idk bc i think you might still be playing with different art styles? (im really struggling here. i don't really know what im talking about or what im supposed to look for. lol)

I definitely asked. lol. I'm not surprised because, I mean, it's Taichi. :D Also, I didn't know you liked Haikyuu. That's my main fandom here. :) How much have you watched/read?

as for haikyuu, i only watched the anime so far, and up to the end of season 3. i hope to pick it up sometime this week or next, but since i'll be watching with a friend from now on, we'll have to sync so it will take longer (i mean, i did binge those three seasons + the OVAs in an unhealthily short time).

it's a new love, even though i obviously have known about the anime for ages but for some reason never got to start (i do that a lot and then regret it. believe it or not, chihayafuru was one of these, too).

either way, i'm really looking forward to watching more! in fact, if it weren't for the European Championship filling in the void, i probably would have already binged the rest of it, friend or no friend ;D

You can totally gush about Haikyuu because I'll join you too! Also, I just found out a season 4 character is voiced by Mamoru Miyano. I hope you'll have fun guessing who it is when you watch it. :) (Unless you decide to look it up.) Btw, if you ever draw for Haikyuu, I'll definitely be supporting you.

actually, i did know from the start that Miyano voiced someone in haikyuu and so being the idiot i am, i spent 3 seasons waiting for him to appear while simultaneously trying not to learn what character it was beforehand.

and then i did anyway.

oh well.

i haven't really looked it up, per se, more like... i saw some video compilations of miyano's roles? so like, i think i know what the character looks like but still know nothing more. so it's a glass half full i guess.

1. What was the first fic you ever wrote?

Okay, so we gotta go back a long way to answer this question. Six years to be exact. Gosh, it was six years ago. And so many fandoms ago, too.

Either way, to answer your question: the first fandom story i ever wrote was called Once Mine and was a crossover story between Disney's Tangled and DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon, and written for hiccunzel as a pairing. It was heavily canon based, set after Tangled and HTTYD 2 (I mean, there was a time i thought i might actually finish it by the time httyd 3 is out, silly me). It had lots of angst, lots of pain, lots of unresolved issues... that stayed unresolved because i simply couldn't bring myself to finish the damn story.

Sometimes, i wish i could go back.

@astridthevalkyrie sure hopes i do (she'll tell you it's a snunzel fic though).

5. Do you have a writing playlist?/what's on it?

I do! I had this one huge one for Once Mine (see above), that was pretty much songs that inspired each chapter. Lots of Sleeping at Last, some Stallion soundtrack. Pop songs in general though.

Now these days i hardly ever listen to anything other than instrumentals because of how distracted i get otherwise, and it's mostly the soundtrack from the fic i'm writing. I have two playlists for chihayafuru (manazashi on the loop constantly). Other than that it's more about, "Well, today's some angsty Kono Oto Tomare/FMA/etc, let's find some sad OST on youtube."

7. Do people in your real life know you write fanfic?

Some do? I don't exactly brag about it, I usually answer the questions with an, "I write... stuff." But yeah, i told some people. My siblings do, but there's no hiding things from them. Oh, and i remember some of my friends getting really hyped about me writing for Anne of Green Gables back in the day.

9. If you had to pick one: Angst, Fluff/Soft, Smut, or Darkfic?

Angst with a happy ending is an epitome of storytelling and fanfic in particular and you can't convince me otherwise. That being said, it's fun to be able to write fluff every once in a while.

Though it's still more fun if you have a heavier/sadder background to paint it methinks.

Have you watched season 4 of Haikyuu yet? I want to ask a season 4 character for the insane expressions.

Oh dear no, not yet! The actual European championship totally got my attention in the recent days, so much that I couldn't find the energy to watch even MORE volleyball after the rl games were over 🤷🏼‍♀️

also because I got sucked into Bungou Stray Dogs in the meantime and fed my binging needs with it

but fear not, I will probably get to it in the next few days (or at least I hope so) so please stay patient! You guys will definitely hear from me when I'm done with s4 ;D
