No because how did Emily convince Mr-I’m-so-independent-I-don’t-like-anyone-taking-care-of-me to let her pick him up and drop him off in her car at least twice?? And what made her specifically reach out? He’s her boss, their relationship isn’t as ‘strong’ as her relationships with her colleagues, who are definitely her friends by now, but with Hotch you can tell there’s this boundary between him and everyone. You could argue that she wasn’t as close to him as say Dave, and out of all the others she’s known him the shortest.

I would give anything to have seen how that conversation went.

Emily: are you cleared to drive?

Hotch: yes

Emily: not on my watch, I’ll pick you up at 9

Hotch: …..

Emily: (eyebrow raise)

Hotch: whatever

I have no proof to back up this point but I am CERTAIN that if anyone else tried it he wouldn’t have let them. I don’t think any of them would have reached out in that way anyway.

Don't you just love how Aaron Hotchner went from " I don't like you and I don't trust you" about Emily Prentiss to "if anything happens to her I will destroy you"? Because I do, very much indeed

in another installment of my criminal minds brainrot i bring you 5x01. my god, what an episode. despite every other member of the team being a little bit concerned and weirded out about hotch not answering his phone, emily is the only one that keeps insisting on looking for him (she asks jj, garcia, jj again..) and ultimately is so nervous about his absence that finds an excuse to go to his apartment. emily is the one that mobilizes pretty much everyone just to find hotch. and then at the hospital she is SO goddamn worried about him. her face as she first lays eyes on him? as she asks the doctor if she can stay with him even if he's unconscious? the way she looks at him sleeping -kind of- peacefully? PAGET I AM IN YOUR WALLS. then the way they speak about emily being in his apartment? like it's a common occurrence?? 'i looked over your whole apartment, nothing felt out of place' ??? and then someone else could've stayed with hotch while they all went for haley and jack but no. EMILY STAYS AGAIN. by hotch's side. and then she just never leaves, as we see in the following episodes :')

Although they never became a canon couple they were defiantly deserving of that. All the chemistry between them, the understanding, the similarities and the respect between them had the potential to make them one of the most interesting and intriguing couples of the show. -V
