Hyunjin, with his captivating stage presence and undeniable talent, had always been admired by countless fans. However, behind the applause and adoration, his heart yearned for something more intimate, something that went beyond fame and adulation. Little did he know that destiny would bring a ray of happiness into his life in the form of you.
Throughout his busy days filled with practice and performances, Hyunjin would sometimes steal moments to gaze at you from afar. The way you smiled, your infectious laugh, and the sparkle in her eyes when you looked at him. It was like a hidden melody that his heart resonated with but was forbidden to express openly.
One day, after a grueling practice session, Hyunjin found himself alone in the dance studio, still lost in the rhythm of the music and the movements of his body. The quiet and the solitude were interrupted by the soft sound of the door opening, and in walked you, the woman who had slowly become his muse, his secret melody.
"Oh! Sorry… I wasn't aware someone was still practicing in here" You say nervously.
Startled, Hyunjin paused in mid-step, his heart skipping a beat as he saw you standing there. A slight flush creeping up his cheeks, he chuckled softly and rubbed the back of his neck. "No, it's okay. I was finishing up my practice session," he replied, trying to mask the way his heart fluttered at your appearance.
Y/n nods and smiles. "Where's the others? Shouldn't you be practicing with them?" You ask curiously.
Hyunjin chuckled again, leaning against the wall and catching his breath. "The others are probably back at the dorm resting or causing chaos somewhere else," he replied with a playful smirk. "But sometimes, I like to stay back and practice on my own. Find some peace and quiet, you know?"
"I understand that… What dance are you practicing?" You ask wanting to know more about what he’s doing.
Hyunjin glanced down at the floor, then back up at you. He couldn't help but feel a hint of embarrassment at the question. "It's nothing special, just some new moves for our upcoming performance," he replied modestly.
You move to put your bag down on the floor "What's the song?"
Hyunjin's gaze shifted to the sound system, where the music was still quietly playing. "It's the title track from our latest album," he said hesitantly. "But I'm not sure I'm doing it justice yet."
"Let me see the dance. Maybe a fresh set of eyes can help you perfect the dance?" You tell him
Hyunjin hesitated for a moment, still feeling a pang of self-consciousness. He took a deep breath, trying to gather his confidence. "Alright, I suppose a fresh perspective can help," he agreed finally. He stepped back into position, facing you and the mirror, and began the choreography.
You sit on the ground back facing the mirror watching Hyunjin.
As Hyunjin danced, his movements graceful and fluid, he couldn't help but steal glances at you. He watched her reflection in the mirror, your eyes studying his every move. your focused gaze made his heart skip a beat, and he fumbled momentarily. But he quickly regained his composure and continued dancing.
Once he had completed the entire routine, Hyunjin stood before you, awaiting your evaluation. His chest rose and fell with each breath, and a thin layer of perspiration glistened on his forehead. He looked at you expectantly, curious about your thoughts.
"I think you did great. I also think that you're being hard on yourself because you're tired and the more tired you get the more you mess up." You tell him honestly.
Hyunjin's shoulders sagged slightly at your observation. He knew you were right, but he still wanted to be perfect. "Maybe you're right," he said quietly. "It's just hard to not be hard on myself when our fans have such high expectations of us as idols. I don't want to disappoint them."
"I'm sure your fans would like you to be healthy and overexerting yourself isn't healthy"
Hyunjin smiled faintly, realizing the wisdom in your words. "You're right again," he admitted. "Sometimes I get so caught up in trying to be perfect that I forget about the importance of taking care of myself too."
"Go back to your dorms, get some good food, and rest."
Hyunjin felt a warmth in his chest as you spoke those words. He reached out to gently brush a strand of hair from your face, a small, affectionate gesture he couldn't resist. "I appreciate that more than you know," he replied softly. "It's nice to have someone who truly cares."
You blush while smiling and looking down "That means a lot to me"
Hyunjin's heart swelled with affection at the sight of you blushing. He crouched down, bringing himself closer to your eye level, and gently tilted her chin up, making you look at him. Your faces were mere inches apart, and the air between them seemed to crackle with electric tension. "You mean a lot to me," he whispered, his voice low and filled with sincerity.
You blush even more as you chuckle nervously.
With your blush growing more pronounced, Hyunjin couldn't help but find you even cuter. His gaze softened, and he chuckled along with you, your proximity adding a layer of intimacy to the moment. "You're adorable when you're flustered," he murmured, his fingers lightly tracing along your jawline.
"You-" you pause and clear your throat "You should go and rest," You tell Hyunjin.
Hyunjin chuckled softly, reluctantly pulling his hand away from your face. "You're right, as always," he conceded. He stood up, giving you one last warm smile. "I'll go rest and make sure I don't work myself too hard. Thanks for looking out for me.”
"Yeah, It’s no problem" You reply
Hyunjin lingered for a moment, as if reluctant to leave your presence. Eventually, he gathered his things and turned to leave, throwing one last glance over his shoulder. "Take care, alright?"
"Yeah, I will. And you do the same." You smile back
As Hyunjin left the studio, he couldn't help but feel a mixture of gratitude and yearning. The lingering touch of your blush, the sound of your nervous laugh, and the way you cared for him-it all swirled in his mind, leaving him both uplifted and aching to see you again.

After your encounter in the studio, Hyunjin couldn't get you out of his mind. He thought about your conversations, your caring nature, and the way your eyes lit up when you smiled. As days passed, he found himself unconsciously searching for you in hallways, during practice sessions, and backstage during performances and interviews. But time was against you, your busy schedules as idols made it difficult to find moments to spend together. Meanwhile, you also found yourself thinking about Hyunjin more and more each day, your heart skipping a beat every time his face appeared in your thoughts.
Your stolen glances and subtle gestures became your only way of expressing your growing feelings. There were moments when you bumped into each other in the hallways, your hands accidentally brushing against each other, sending sparks of electricity through your fingertips. You found yourselves stealing moments to chat whenever possible, but your conversations were often interrupted or kept brief due to your hectic schedules. The tension between you was palpable, and your friends began to notice the subtle cues of your budding affection.
As the days passed, Hyunjin's group members couldn't help but notice the growing chemistry between him and you. They often teased Hyunjin about his blushing cheeks whenever your name was mentioned and the way he would become more distracted during practice sessions. One evening, while they were relaxing in their dorm, Changbin, one of the members, decided to tease Hyunjin further.
"Hyunjin, you've been quite distracted lately," Changbin observed, a smirk playing on his lips. "Care to share what's on your mind?"
Hyunjin blushed, not expecting to be called out so directly. He tried to play it cool and shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't know what you're talking about," he mumbled, avoiding eye contact.
Changbin chuckled, seeing right through Hyunjin's denial. "Oh, come on," he teased. "You think we haven't noticed you daydreaming all the time? And those blushing cheeks whenever Y/n's name comes up?"
Jisung, another member, chimed in with a grin. "Yeah, you're not as subtle as you think you are, Hyunjin. We've all seen how smitten you are."
Hyunjin's blush deepened, and he shot a glare at Jisung. "Guys, I'm not smitten, okay? I just..." he trailed off, unable to deny the truth.
Jeongin, the youngest member, piped up with a playful smirk. "Just what? You just have a huge crush on Y/n?"
Hyunjin groaned, knowing he couldn't deny it any longer. "Fine, I have a crush on Y/n," he admitted, looking defeated. "But don't make a big deal out of it, alright?"
The other members' laughter filled the room, their teasing and playful banter making Hyunjin feel even more flustered. Seungmin, the quietest member, finally spoke up, a teasing glint in his eyes. "So, when are you planning to ask her out?"
Hyunjin sighed, knowing the question was inevitable. "I don't know, okay? It's not that easy," he protested. "We're always busy with our schedules, and it's hard to find time to actually talk to her, let alone ask her out."
Minho, the oldest member, chimed in with a sly grin. "That's just an excuse, Hyunjin. If you really want to ask her out, you'll find a way."
"Yeah, plus, Y/n likes you too" Jisung added.
Hearing this, Hyunjin's head snapped up, his eyes widening in surprise. "She does?" he asked, a hint of hope in his voice.
The other members exchanged knowing glances and nodded. "Oh, yeah," Changbin confirmed. "Whenever you're not looking, she totally watches you. And she blushes a lot around you too."
Hyunjin's heart skipped a beat, the realization sinking in. "Really? You're not just messing with me, right?" he asked, searching their faces for any signs of deception.
The members chuckled at Hyunjin's disbelief and shook their heads. Jeongin spoke up, his voice serious this time. "No, we're not messing with you. It's obvious she likes you too, Hyunjin. You just need to muster up the courage to ask her out."
Hyunjin felt a mixture of relief and nervousness wash over him. "I don't know, guys," he confessed. "What if she doesn't feel the same way? What if it ruins our friendship or makes things awkward?"
Jisung placed a reassuring hand on Hyunjin's shoulder. "Hey, you won't know unless you try," he said encouragingly. "And honestly, it looks like there's a strong chance she reciprocates your feelings."
The other members nodded in agreement. Minho added, "And if it doesn't go as planned, we'll be here to support you. But you'll always wonder 'what if' if you don't take the shot."
Hyunjin sighed, knowing they were right. "Okay, okay, you've convinced me," he relented. "But how do I even ask her out? We barely have any alone time, and our schedules are insanely busy."
Changbin chuckled, a scheming glint in his eyes. "Leave that to us," he said mysteriously. "We'll help you find the perfect moment to ask her out. Just trust us."
Hyunjin's eyes widened in mild concern. "I'm not sure I like the sound of that," he muttered. "But I guess I have no choice. Just don't do anything crazy, okay?"
The members exchanged grins, their minds already formulating a plan.
"Don't worry, Hyunjin," Jeongin assured him. "We've got this. Trust us, and things will work out."
time skip
Days passed and the members had put their plan into action. They meticulously orchestrated moments for Hyunjin and you to be together, making up excuses for you to run errands or rehearse late into the night. These moments, snatched between practices and performances, became precious opportunities for Hyunjin and you to get closer.
During these encounters, Hyunjin discovered new details about you—your favorite snacks, your sense of humor, and even the way you hummed to yourself when you thought no one was listening. Each piece of information only deepened his affection for you.
You, too, found yourself growing fond of Hyunjin's playful spirit, his unwavering determination, and his passion for his craft. Their conversations grew more intimate, and the glances they exchanged became more meaningful. The air between them crackled with unspoken desires, adding to the mounting tension.
Meanwhile, the members watched the blossoming relationship with satisfied grins, proud of their handiwork in bringing them closer together. Though they knew the path wouldn't be without obstacles due to their demanding careers, they also believed in the purity of Hyunjin's feelings and your evident affection for him.
One evening, under the guise of an errand, the members shooed Hyunjin and you out of the dorms. You two found yourselves walking down a quiet street, the night air cool against their skin. The silence was filled with an undertone of anticipation.
You glanced over at Hyunjin, who was uncharacteristically quiet. You playfully nudged his shoulder. "You seem deep in thought," you remarked, your eyes reflecting the light from the streetlamps.
Hyunjin snapped out of his thoughts, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Just thinking about... stuff," he replied vaguely. Realizing how vague he sounded, he chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "I mean, there's just a lot on my mind with our upcoming schedule and promotions, you know?"
You nodded, understanding the demands of their career. "Yeah, I know how that feels. It's relentless, and sometimes it feels like there's not enough time to breathe," you said, your gaze wandering up to the night sky.
Hyunjin nodded in agreement, looking up at the stars as well. "It's hard to juggle everything—our health, our work, our relationships... It sometimes feels like there's not enough of me to go around," he confessed.
You turned to look at him, your expression softened by the moonlight. "But you're doing really well," you reassured him. "You always put in your best, and it shows. The fans love you for a reason, you know?"
Hyunjin felt a pang in his chest at her words. They were simple, yet they meant more to him than you could imagine. "Sometimes, it doesn't feel like it's enough," he murmured, his gaze dropping. "There's always room for improvement, always something more I could've done better."
You gently took his arm, gently turning him to look at you. "Hyunjin, listen to me," you said firmly. "You're human. You can't be perfect all the time, and that's okay. Your fans, your group, and...I...we don't expect you to be. We just want you to be well and happy."
Hyunjin's breath hitched in his throat as he registered your words, the unexpected inclusion of “I” making his heart skip a beat. He stared into your eyes, their sincerity and concern clear. "But sometimes... sometimes I feel like I'm just not enough," he confessed, the vulnerability in his voice evident.
Your expression softened further, your gaze filled with understanding. "Hyunjin, you're more than enough," you insisted. "For your fans, for your group, and for..." You trailed off, realizing the implications of your words, then continued, your cheeks slightly flushed, "And for me too. You're more than enough."
Those words hit Hyunjin like a wave, their weight and honesty overwhelming. He stared at you, silent for a moment as he processed your words. Finally, he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper, "You really mean that?"
You looked at him directly, your gaze unwavering. "Of course, I do," you said firmly. "Hyunjin, you're talented, hardworking, and so much more. You're not just enough; you're extraordinary."
Hyunjin's heart swelled with her words, the emotions he'd been holding back for so long threatening to overflow. He reached out, his fingers gently tracing the line of your jaw. "You always know what to say, don't you?" he murmured, his voice hoarse. His thumb brushed over your lower lip, the touch soft and intimate.
Your breath caught in your throat, the feel of his touch sending shivers down your spine. You looked up at him through your lashes, your heart drumming in your chest. "I just say what I feel," you whispered, your eyes locked with his, the world around them fading into background noise.
The air between them was charged with a mix of tension and desire. Hyunjin's gaze flickered from your eyes to your lips, the desire to close the gap between them almost palpable. "Y/n," he began, his voice a low rumble, "There's something...something I've wanted to say to you for a while now..."
Your heart fluttered at the intensity in his eyes. You could feel something big was about to happen. "What is it?" you asked, your voice barely audible, your gaze never leaving his.
Hyunjin swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. He took a deep breath, gathering all his courage. "I..." He swallowed again, his thumb still gently tracing your jawline. "I really like you, Y/n. A lot more than a friend. I've been trying to find the right moment, the right words, but I just... I just can't keep it inside anymore."
Your heart was now racing uncontrollably. You had suspected that something more than platonic feelings had developed between them, but hearing him say it out loud was a different thing altogether. You looked at him, your eyes wide, heart so full you thought it might burst. "Hyunjin..." you murmured, his name a soft sigh on your lips.
Hyunjin's heart pounded in his chest, awaiting her response, hoping against hope that he hadn't misinterpreted things. He moved his hand from your jawline to cup your face gently, his thumb tracing the curve of your cheek. "You don't have to say anything right now," he said softly. "I just...I wanted you to know how I feel."
Your heart swelled with a mixture of emotions. Love, affection, gratitude... all of them poured out of you in a single syllable. "Hyunjin..." you repeated, your voice soft and trembling. You brought your own hand up, placing it over his, on your cheek, reveling in the warmth of his touch.
"I... I like you too."

Hyunjin and Y/n were strolling down a picturesque street in Milan, Italy, their arms linked together as they walked. They were in the city to film their upcoming Stay week, and they had decided to take an evening walk after their hectic schedules.
Hyunjin glanced over at Y/n as they walked, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "You look really beautiful tonight," he said, his voice soft and affectionate.
Y/n blushed at his compliment, a shy smile appearing on her face. "Thanks. You look pretty good yourself," she replied jokingly, reaching up to fix his hair. They continued walking, chatting about their day and taking in the sights of the foreign city.
"So, you want to become a dog in your next life?" Y/n jokes about what Hyunjin said at dinner with the group earlier.
Hyunjin chuckled, his hand tightening around hers. "Hey, being a dog wouldn't be bad," he said, playing along with the joke. "I could spend all day being pampered and getting belly rubs."
"Changbin wouldn't share his food with you, as we learned"
Hyunjin rolled his eyes, but he was still smiling. "Yeah, Changbin's a jerk," he said, but his tone was playful. "I'd find a better owner, one who'd give me as much food as I wanted."
Y/n laughed at the image of Hyunjin as a pampered dog. "Right, because you definitely don't eat enough already," she teased. "You'd be the biggest dog ever if you could eat as much as you wanted."
Hyunjin feigned offense, bringing his free hand to his chest. "Hey, I work out a lot, I need the food to maintain my muscles, you know." He flexed his free arm, showing off his bicep.
Y/n couldn't help but admire the muscle for a moment. "Alright, fair enough," she conceded. "But if you were a dog, we'd have to make sure you didn't eat yourself into hibernation."
Hyunjin chuckled, his demeanor more relaxed now that they were just joking around. "You're right, you'd have to keep an eye on me," he joked. "No more midnight raids on the kitchen for food."
Y/n smiled, enjoying the easy banter between them. "Yeah, no more stuffing your face with leftover pizza when you're supposed to be sleeping," she said, poking him in the side.
Hyunjin let out a melodramatic sigh. "You're such a taskmaster," he teased, shaking his head. "Being your dog would be tough if I can't even sneak midnight snacks."
"How does Changbin feel about you sneaking midnight snacks, since he's your new roommate. Also, how come he's your wife before I am?" Y/n asks Hyunjin
Hyunjin laughed at Y/n's question. "Changbin doesn't mind, as long as I don't eat his food," he explained. "As for the wife thing, I think it's just a joke among the other members. We were talking about how Changbin and I are the closest, and someone said we were like an old married couple."
Y/n raised an eyebrow at him, a mischievous glint in her eye. "And why aren't you considering me your wife instead?" she asked, a playful pout on her lips.
Hyunjin chuckled at her reaction. "Oh, don't worry," he said, pulling her closer and wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "You're my real wife, the other members just don't get it." He planted a chaste kiss on her forehead, his tone light but affectionate.
Y/n snuggled into his side, a contented smile on her face. "I'm glad you cleared that up," she said, her voice mock serious. "I was starting to worry that I had some competition."
Hyunjin chuckled again. "You have nothing to worry about," he reassured her, giving her a squeeze. "You're the only one for me." They continued walking down the cobblestone streets, the comfortable silence between them punctuated by the occasional comment or light banter.
"We should start to head back to the house before it gets too late," Y/n tells Hyunjin as they continue to walk.
Hyunjin nods in agreement, though he seems a bit reluctant to end their walk. "Yeah, you're right," he says with a sigh. "It's getting dark, and I'm sure the managers will start looking for us soon."
Y/n gives his hand a gentle squeeze. "We can always take another walk some other time," she says consolingly. "But for now, we should probably get back before we end up in trouble."
Hyunjin nods again, accepting that their evening stroll must come to an end. "You're right, we don't want to get chewed out by the managers," he says with a small chuckle. They turn around and begin walking back the way they came.
The return trip is quieter than the journey out, both of them lost in their own thoughts. Y/n steals occasional glances at Hyunjin, admiring his profile in the fading light. Every now and then, Hyunjin would catch her gaze and give her a small, affectionate smile.
Eventually, they make their way back to the house where they're staying. As they walk up the steps to the front door, Hyunjin turns to Y/n. "This was a nice walk," he says, his tone softer than before. "I always enjoy spending time alone with you."
"Yeah, especially since we are always practicing or around the other members, but I love them too. Just not as much as you." Y/n states.
Hyunjin smiles, his eyes warm as he looks at her. "I know what you mean," he says, opening the door for her. "The members are like family, but there's something special about the time we get to spend together, just the two of us."
They walk inside, greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the house. A few of the members are in the living room, sprawled out on the couches watching TV. They look up as Hyunjin and Y/n enter, but they just give brief waves to each other, respecting the couple's quiet, private moment.
Hyunjin and Y/n head up the stairs, their footsteps are soft on the carpet. As they reach the hallway leading to their individual rooms, Hyunjin stops in front of Y/n's door.
"I had a great time tonight," he says, his voice low as if afraid to shatter the quiet aura between them.
Y/n smiles, her hand on the doorknob. "Me too," she says, her heart fluttering at his proximity. "Even though we didn't really do much, I enjoyed just spending time with you."
"Yeah, sometimes it's the simple things that make the best memories," Hyunjin agrees, his eyes not leaving hers. He reaches out and brushes a strand of hair back from her face, his touch tender.
Despite their exhaustion from the long day, neither of them seems to want the moment to end. Y/n finds herself leaning into his touch, her eyes fluttering closed at the feeling of his fingertips on her skin.
"I should probably go to sleep before I fall asleep here, standing up"
Hyunjin nods, reluctantly dropping his hand from her face. "Yeah, you're right," he says, his voice a bit reluctant. "We have filming in the morning, and we both need our beauty sleep."
Y/n chuckles at his words, then gives him one last smile. "Goodnight, Hyunjin," she says softly, her hand still on the doorknob.
"Goodnight, Y/n," Hyunjin replies, his voice just as soft as hers. He takes a step back, giving her the space to go into her room.
Y/n opens the door and steps inside, giving him one last glance over her shoulder, before disappearing into the room. Hyunjin stands outside her door for a few moments more, his expression thoughtful. Then, with a soft sigh, he turns and heads to his own room.
Hyunjin closed the door to his room, the quiet click echoing in the silence of the hallway. He leaned back against the door for a moment, his thoughts on the evening he had just spent with Y/n. He couldn't help the smile that spread across his face as he thought about her.
With a sigh, he pushed off the door and went to get ready for bed. Despite the late hour, he knew it would be a while before sleep would come, his mind still dwelling on the woman who had captured his heart.

Hyunjin looked curiously at his best friend Y/n, who sat next to him on the couch. "Hey, I have a question," he began, fiddling with the hem of his shirt.
Y/n looked at him, raising an eyebrow in curiosity. "Go ahead," she replied, giving him her undivided attention.
"How do I know if I have a crush on someone?" Hyunjin asked, his voice almost shy.
Y/n thought for a moment, contemplating her answer. "Well, there are a few things that can indicate a crush," she began. "For instance, you can't stop thinking about them, you feel a bit strange when they're around, and..."
Hyunjin leaned in, his gaze focused on her. "And?" he pressed, his curiosity piqued.
Y/n pauses before speaking again "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Hyunjin realized that he had been staring intently at Y/n, almost studying her as she spoke. He blushed slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed to be caught.
"Sorry," he said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. "I wasn't trying to stare, just... listening intently, I guess. Go on."
Y/n studied his face for a moment, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Anyway, as I was saying. Wanting to... Well, wanting to be around them a lot might be a sign of a crush."
Hyunjin nodded, absorbing her words. "Okay, that makes sense," he said, thinking about the person he was asking about. "But what about... like wanting to hold them? Or... or wanting to tell them everything that's on your mind?"
Y/n's smile grew slightly larger. "Yep, those are definitely signs of having a crush," she confirmed. "You start to want physical closeness, and you want to share your thoughts and feelings with them more than anyone else. Anything else? You look really intense, Hyunjin.”
Hyunjin's heart thumped harder in his chest as he listened to her words. He was doing all of those things and more. "What if... what if I keep thinking about how it would feel to... kiss them?" he asked, feeling his cheeks flushing.
Y/n's smile turned slightly cheeky. "Oh, well that's a pretty solid sign right there," she said, her tone playful. "If you're imagining what it would be like to kiss them, then I'd say you definitely have a crush on this person."
Hyunjin's mind raced as he heard her words. He had been imagining what it would be like to kiss the person he was asking about, and often. But hearing his best friend confirm it only made the feeling more real.
"What if I don't know if they feel the same way?" he blurted out, a look of hesitation and hope crossing his face.
Y/n's expression turned softer, her smile becoming more sympathetic. "That's the tricky part, isn't it?" she said, her voice gentle. "Catching feelings for someone who might not feel the same way can be scary. But you won't know unless you take a chance."
Hyunjin nodded, his eyes fixed on her as he internalized her words. "But what if I risk ruining our friendship?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "If I tell them how I feel and they don't feel the same way, it could make things awkward, or even end our friendship entirely. I can't lose them."
Y/n reached out and laid a comforting hand on his arm. "I understand that you're worried," she told him, her voice reassuring. "But sometimes, taking a chance is worth the risk. And if this person truly values your friendship, they won't let a confession ruin it. Sometimes, honesty can bring you closer, not drive you further apart."
Hyunjin felt his shoulders relax a little under her touch. "I guess you're right," he said, his voice still holding a hint of worry. "I just need to find the courage to tell them how I feel. But I'm scared of what might happen afterward."
"Well, who's your crush?" Y/n asks Hyunjin questionably.
Hyunjin's heart skipped a beat at her question. This was it. The moment of truth. He took a breath, gathering his thoughts before answering.
"You."
The word hung in the air between them, heavy with implication. Hyunjin met her gaze, his eyes betraying his feelings.
Y/n's eyes widened as she heard his confession. Her heart thumped in her chest as countless emotions flooded through her. Shock, surprise, and...something else, something that made her pulse race.
"Me?" she repeated, her voice a bit shaky.
Hyunjin nodded, his gaze never leaving her face. "Yes, you," he confirmed, his voice quiet but strong. "I realized recently, like really realized, that I have feelings for you. I've been so confused about how I feel, and I just kept thinking about you, and how it would feel to kiss you, and... Yeah. I really like you."
The room was silent for a moment as Y/n digested his confession. She had suspected that Hyunjin might have feelings for her, but hearing it out loud was something else. Her own feelings for him had grown over the years they had known each other, but she had kept it hidden, afraid to ruin their friendship.
"Hyunjin," she started, her voice a whisper. "I... I didn't know you felt that way."
Hyunjin swallowed, his heart beating so hard he could feel it in his throat. "I know I probably shouldn't have said anything," he began, his voice laced with hesitation, "but I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. I've been going crazy thinking about you. Feeling like I'm keeping this secret that's... that's eating me up inside."
Y/n looked at Hyunjin, seeing the earnestness in his eyes. She had never seen him look more vulnerable, more honest. The raw emotion on his face made her own feelings for him impossible to deny any longer.
"You don't have to be ashamed of how you feel," she said softly. "I... I've been feeling something too, I've just been too scared to say anything."
Hyunjin's eyes widened slightly, hope sparking to life within them. "You... you have feelings for me too?" he asked, hardly daring to believe her words.
Y/n nodded, a sheepish smile on her face. "I do," she confessed, her heart fluttering in her chest. "I have for a while now, but I was scared of jeopardizing our friendship. I didn't want to lose you."
Hyunjin felt a wave of relief wash over him, followed by a giddy happiness. "I've been feeling the same way," he told her, a wide grin spreading across his face. "I thought I was going crazy, trying to keep these feelings bottled up. But now... knowing you feel the same, it's like a weight has been lifted off me."
Y/n laughed softly, her eyes bright. "We've both been idiots, haven't we? Both liked each other but were too scared to say anything." Her smile faded slightly as she thought about something. "But what now?"
Hyunjin frowned slightly, thinking through the implications of their confession. "Now... now we just be honest with each other," he said, determination in his voice. "We stop pretending like we don't have these feelings and act on them. If we like each other, why not give it a shot?"
Y/n nodded a mixture of excitement and trepidation in her eyes. "You're right," she agreed softly. "No more hiding, no more pretending. We like each other, and we should at least try to see where this could go."
Hyunjin reached out and took her hand, his touch warm and reassuring. "I don't want to pressure you," he said, looking into her eyes. "This is a big step, and I want you to be sure about it. But I really want to explore this with you, if you do too."
Y/n smiled, her fingers intertwining with his. "I do," she answered, her voice steady and certain. "I want to see where this leads, and I trust you, Hyunjin. I want to explore this with you too."
Hyunjin felt like he was on top of the world. He had just told his best friend how he felt, and not only did she not reject him, she shared his feelings. He squeezed her hand gently, feeling the reality of it sink in.
"Alright, then it's settled," he said, a smile spreading across his face. "We're doing this. We're actually doing this."
Of course Hyunjin goes live while I'm in my class... I hate it here.
