And I can’t feel no remorse, and you don’t feel nothing back
Stan felt himself sigh as his eyes were forced away from his book once again. How many times was it now? He had lost count, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of the song that had been playing in the background or if it was because of your dancing. He watched as you swayed without a care in the world, knowing that he wished to be as carefree as you. Despite the chaos that had happened over the summer several years ago, you somehow managed to remain cheerful and lively. How? Stan had not a clue.
Oh, oh, got a new girlfriend, he feels like he’s on top
And I don’t feel no remorse, and you can’t see past my blinders
“Are you okay?” He couldn’t help that his heart jumped a little when he saw you staring back at him with concern written on your face. “Uh…Yeah. Don’t worry, I was just thinking.” His gaze moved back down to his hands as they shut the book, a finger still wedged in the pages to keep his place. He didn’t even hear you approach him until the weight of the hammock shifted to adjust to you. “You get too in your head. I get why, but you need to relax a little.” You move a bit to look at the book in his hands. “Which one is this?” Your hand brushed against his as your fingers danced over the cover which only made his cheeks turn pink.

You were the only one of the Losers who made him feel this way, and it was both concerning and comforting to him. As he explained that the book in his hands was actually a book of poetry Ben had recommended for him, he would glance at your face to make sure that your mind hadn’t wandered off due to his ramblings, but he could only smile as he found you listening to his every word.
Oh, oh, got a little paycheck, you got big plans and you gotta move
And I don’t feel nothing at all
And you can’t feel nothing small
“Can you read me some of your favorite ones so far?” You asked with a sparkle in your eye that Stan simply could not refuse. “Sure but if anyone comes down here, you better go to your side of the hammock.” He tried to be threatening in a playful way, but it only succeeded in making you chuckle. “Of course.”
Honey I love you, that’s all she wrote
With you curled up beside him, Stanley softly read each poem to you. He would occasionally stop, just for a moment, when you moved around so you didn’t miss something. He always found himself relaxing like this when he was with you. This was where he felt safe enough to let his guard down, especially when you had your hands running through his hair. He subconsciously pulled you closer only to have his heart skip a beat when you rested your head on his shoulder.

Oh, Ophelia, heaven help a fool who falls in love
He had stopped reading to ask what you thought of the book, but only was met with closed eyes and soft snores. It took him a second to process what was happening and when it finally clicked, Stanley simply grinned. As the soft music from the radio echoed in the background, Stan raised his hand up to move some hair out of your face before he softly presses his lips to your forehead.

Maybe he found himself having a crush on you, but he knew he couldn’t act on it. Not yet anyway. He didn’t mind that though, especially when you both could have moments like this without the world pressuring him to put a label on what you both cherished so much. After his lips pulled away from your head, He saw you smile a little in your sleep. God, you make his heart race.

Stanley carefully sat his book to the side and pulled you into his arms. His smile only grew when you situated yourself under his jaw, breathing softly onto his neck. Maybe he was in love, but all he knew is that this made him happy. As the music continued to play, Stan felt his eyelids grow heavy as he studied your features. After one more soft kiss to your head, he willingly let himself rest in your embrace.
