Let's Go And Introduce The Next OC, Shall We? This Here's Jaga Aranea, A Princess On The Distant Planet

Let's go and introduce the next OC, shall we? This here's Jaga Aranea, a princess on the distant planet Arakis, though she's not one to rely on mere diplomacy—she's also a member of an ancient ninja clan! She combines her katana and stinger to surprising effect, and is deft enough on her feet to sidestep blaster shots and climb up walls. In her spare time, she plays a Solitaire-like game called Kuresoera to keep her mind sharp.

One thing to keep in mind if you meet her... She may be a princess, but don't feel the need to bow to her. She's not a fan.

Jaga's a character I created for a friend's tabletop RPG campaign way back when, a spacefaring one. Unorthodox, sure, but I didn't want to go bog-standard, and with the system we were using allowing for a Giant Insect character (yes I know they're arachnids shush), I decided to play it risky. Invested in tech use, at least, so those pincers of hers didn't just break anything she tried to grab!

Sadly, the campaign in question kinda fizzled out when we went our separate ways between high school and college, but Jaga's stuck around in the back of my mind. Like with most of my OCs, I'd love to bring her to more stuff in the future—an RPG, certainly! Maybe one day, when I can get into making video games...

(And yes, Jaga's name does come from Bionicle's Nui-Jaga. I loved that franchise as a kid! Still do, actually.)

Alright, with the major players out of the way, here's the main crew of six, all together! Quite a diverse set, don't you think?

None of them share a world, though Ica and Lotu would definitely earn each other's ire if they did.

Time to make a plan of attack... ...And even when you're midway through said plan, don't be afraid to replan.

A coordinated heist? Two separate heists of the same castle? Two completely unrelated heists on different worlds? You be the judge. What I will say is: That's the fabricy visage of the infamous T.D. Bear on the wall in Ghostie's picture. Hopefully his plan won't have to worry about him showing up! No one wants to face their tutor-turned-supervillain...

Here's another old piece of art featuring Jaga, with the older eye design. Was a fine design in the moment, but in hindsight the compound eyes worked better without such clear (or rigid) segmentations.

So, we got's us a Boop-o-meter on Tumblr today, eh?

Ghostie (A white ghost with red-and-yellow eyes and floating mitts) carries the base Boop-o-Meter from Tumblr's 2024 April Fool's Day event in his hand, excitedly saying Boop-o-Meter, huh...? Alright then, let's get me some boops!" His enthusiasm for boops is emphasized by that word being written in rainbow colors.

To celebrate, here's Ghostie giving his fellow Deb79ful OCs some boops of his own!

Ghostie's mitt pokes against the snout of Lotu, a grey-and-brown deer-beast with green flames on their antlers and as a tail. They're very perplexed by the gesture as Ghostie goes "Boop!"
Ghostie now pokes the snout of Cole, a green deliverybug with wings, single claws, and a pink mail delivery cap. As the ghost goes "Boop!" he crosses an arm across his chest with a defensive "Hey—!"
Ghostie swings in on a crane to poke the faceplate of Ica, a sand blue robot with dark blue tube limbs. He goes "Boop!" once more, while the robot is acting stoic about the action.
Ghostie has to aim downwards to poke the forehead of Jaga, a blue and purple scorpion with X-shaped eyes, for his next "Boop!" Her reaction is remarkably flustered, shouting "E-EH?!" with a faint blush visible above her pincers.
Ghostie makes a pose similar to standing on tiptoes to poke the snout of Korath, a green centaur-like insectoid alien with head-ridges and mandibles. Compared to the others, she seems quite frustrated by the ghost's childish "Boop!"
Ghostie... attempts to poke the snout of Terrance, a green kaiju with red-and-pink eyes, dark green spines, and a tan belly. He frowns worriedly as the ghost lets out noises of strain...
...Leading him to pick up Ghostie, letting his snout be poked for one last "Boop!" as a smile crosses his big face.

Nobody can resist a boop! ...Well, they can get upset about it, to varying degrees. But they can't resist it! (I stayed up from midnight to 5 in the morning drawing these, please send help)

Two characters are hiding behind a rock—Cole (a green deliverybug) has a worried look behind his held binoculars as he says "I think he saw us!" Next to him, Jaga (a blue-and-purple scorpion) mutters "Crov..." before saying "Okay, you warn the others, I'll hold off the ninjas." She is brandishing her katana, which has a noticeable gleam coming off of it.

So you did. Very well then. We shall cross blades at dusk! /s

@deb79ful i SEE you in my activity heheh :3

Here's Jaga Aranea Showing Off Her Skill With A Blade! It Took A Lot Of Work To Get To The Level She's

Here's Jaga Aranea showing off her skill with a blade! It took a lot of work to get to the level she's at, especially given she has to wield it with claws rather than the deft fingers of a mammal. But that's why she's training in a ninja clan. Below's an alternate version, swapping out the blurred-out Arakis concept with a simple cutout border.

(Sorry that I've been absent art-wise here—among other things, I've gotten invested in a certain game that's taken a lot of my time. Hopefully you'll see art of it soon... hopefully.)
