another question: how big is JAK? do normal human clothes fit him well/where does he get his clothes if they dont? can i see a hand size comparison between him and pandora? actually, how tall is pandora? she gives short gremlin vibes. maybe thats why jak looks tall hes just standing next to a tiny racoon of a person

OH JAK IS HUGE.

He's a fighter bot, and a kickboxer, so he has to be pretty big to take on bots in his weight range who are often equipped with flame throwers and circular saws etc etc. Pandora isn't all that tiny, but she does give off tiny energy.

As for JAK's clothes, they live on a space station with an incredibly varied population, i'm talking anything from 10 foot tall lizard men to tiny sentient rat-lions, so it's not terribly hard for JAK to find big n tall sizes that fit his frame :] Some of his mods/parts are also detachable, like his giant forearm kibble, so he can more easily slide into things.

can I quietly request art that JAX and Pandora are having like hate snuggles?

Ex: Pandora had a hella rough day and JAX also did so they snuggle but like angry lmao

JAK's greatest flaw is that he can't say no to her, no matter how much she pisses him off.

Man I love your Oc's, Jak especially is such a creature and my favorite I hope you keep posting about him.

Also how did she get Jaks frame? He's a recognized model from a company from what I've seen of your other posts so did she buy him? or he a pet project she was hand making with parts before plugging in his mind which is actually a person who got his body snatched.

Would love to hear more about that idea too how that happened if there's a group, some scene or maybe even some underground ring of robots who want human (organic) bodies and he's a victim of like a black market organ trade... just whole body instead of a kidney lol

HIIII!!!! so YES i absolutely can tell you more about them!!

I will one day make an actual comic or post going over pandora's legal bot fighting days, but for now, the simplified version is that pandora did some stuff her league didn't like and they framed her for cheating and 'exposed' her live on tv during the season semifinals. I'll eventually probably make a super dramatic retelling of this but those are the basics!!

AS FOR JAK'S FRAME!

JAK's frametype is a 'Jeddisson-engineering's Automated Kickboxer' nicknamed JAKS or JAKrabbits due to their mainly kick based combat drivers and large rabbit like finials. There are newer JAK models with different shapes and updated coding, but JAK's model is simply outmoded.

BUT! because Pandora lives on a space station with an absolutely NIGHTMARISHLY HUGE garbage dump, she actually lucked out and found a mostly intact JAK model in the trash and started fixing it up to be her next underground bot fighting bot.

After losing her career and doing illegal fights, Pandora started chewing through bots VERY quickly, so she was always in need of another lamb for the slaughter so to speak. She started fixing his body up before she actually found his hard drive.

Side note- JAK actually spent about a month and a half living on Pandora's computer as a very bitchy computer virus while she was fixing the JAK body for him.

AS FOR HOW JAK GOT LIKE THIS.

the funny thing is? I have actually no idea <3 Since these characters live and exist in a world that belongs to @pinkanonwrites and is made for a very bitchin ttrpg campaign, there are some things i LITERALLY am not allowed to know. even though jak and pandora aren't pcs or even npcs in the game, according to pink, me knowing who did this to JAK is a massive spoiler. So when that reveal happens? I'll be fucken screaming about it brother i'll tell you that for free.

ANYWAYS im so SO SO HAPPY people are enjoying these two, i am. RRGHGRH i love drawing them and writing about them, so expect more comics of them in the future bc they bring me SUCH JOY. Honestly i'll probably make one about JAK as a bitchy .exe file sometime soon hehee,,,,

Alright you got me hooked on the virus idea so now I got more questions.

How does that work for JAK? Like he's in the computer but can he only see what's on the screen? Or does Pandora also have a camera? Same with hearing does she need a mic connected for him to hear otherwise she gotta type things into a little chat window?

I think it would be a bit funny if he couldn't look away from anything she put on the screen so there were these mild wars of her trying to open a streaming service or site he knows she'll lose hours too and he just keeps closing it hoping she'll give up and go back to working on his body.

HELLO YES!! So basically, JAK starts out only able to see whats on screen. Then he figures out how to open text files, browser tabs, and image files, and then he figures out how to generate text files on his own.

From there, if given enough time, which he absolutely was, JAK found out how to access pandora's webcam and microphone, which he's able to switch on and off to be able to see and hear Pandora.

Pandora, though a little upset she lost some of her privacy, also felt really bad for JAK being trapped on the computer, and eventually gave him cloud access to be able to tap into the security cameras around her apartment and make annoying beeping noises when he needed something.

there was also a brief period where pandora gave him access to her roomba, and he was quietly allowed to roam around the apartment bumping into her feet, until he took a fatal tumble down the stairs into her workshop :[

so yes! basically jak and pandora had to fight for space on pandora's computer. Sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night to jak having turned on Kitchen Nightmares to watch by himself, and then would have to wrestle with him for her cursor so she could close it and go back to sleep.

Basically JAK was like the human man equivalent of that terrible goose you can download to be a nuisance on your computer for fun and profit :]

ANYHOW THO!!!

Short answer- They're VERY good. I'm not talking like, mary sue come out unharmed good, but Pandora was a professional bot fighter for a reason, she's an incredible mechanic and JAK's body is modded and armed to the teeth with a comprehensive database of dozens of styles of fighting and wrestling, and two of the most overcharged impact boosters to ever be attached to a lightweight class robot.

With that coding in mind, JAK is programmed and built to be the perfect fighter. His human brain's coding has been known to get in the way sometimes however, as it sometimes underestimates the durability of his new form.

This was most evident in his earliest fights in the new body, he was very visibly a lot more skittish than the other bot fighters in the ring, which got chalked up to some fancy coding from pandora, luckily.

Tangent- A lot of bot fighting rings don't accept bots with any amount of ai, but there are underground rings like the ones pandora and jak frequent that are specifically catered to bots with high functioning but non sentient AI. JAK is not non sentient, obviously, so he kind of has to play at being a machine whenever hes around the ring.

But anyways, JAK is a very good fighter after he becomes more accustomed to his body.

One other thing though, just as a tidbit. i think his human coding and his body coding sometimes clash but one of the few ways they work together is that JAK receives a LOT of endorphins whenever he does well in bot fighting because it's his coded purpose in his body, which registers as self actualization in his human coding. Essentially, fighting feels emotionally like it's what he's supposed to be doing, and for human brains, doing what youre supposed to, doing what feels like your purpose feels VERY good.

Initially, pandora was going to let him try out bot fighting with him in his body(since the fight purses on high ai are VERY sizeable and you know shes chasing that bag) and if he didn't like it she would have just removed his consciousness from his frame to use his frame for her fights, but JAK seemed to enjoy it so much afterwards that she let him keep piloting.

There are some safety codes however. If ever a glitch occurs which severs JAK's consciousness from his body, Pandora keeps a secondary controller on her so she can pilot his body for him in case of emergencies.

So yes! they make a VERY good team. TY FOR ASKING EEHEHEHEH

How long did it take Pandora to believe Jak he wasn't an Ai? Like I know the world is made by your friend so not sure how well you can answer this one but.

Is true sapient ai not a thing? I know in other posts you said a lot of other bots were running around with other purposes outside fighting (i would guess like, maids, personal assistants, nannies etc) but you also mentioned with Pandora's robot fucking habits the more simple the ai the more she liked it.

Lol I'm just super curious if at first she thought someone *actually* managed to hack her pc, then maybe thought she stumbled upon some illegal level advanced ai (know some sci-fi worlds outlaw sapient ai to avoid the whole issues that usually causes) until she finally believed this conscious on a drive he was a human despite remembering basically nothing about his human life and using media to make references to who he was.

SO! greater worldbuilding questions I may not be the best at answering, however from what I understand, sapient AI is ABSOLUTELY a thing in this world. Androids, and robots sometimes get built with that kind of ai, and(I think, @pinkanonwrites can confirm or deny) it certainly exists in silicon based life forms, and sentient alien robot species that appear in pink's world.

There ARE also body guards and other androids like that from what i've seen, and so hyper complex AI is absolutely around. In the main campaign we've met sapient robot body guards that like. have off time and play magic the gathering and stuff(ingo and eres my loves).

BUT!

Pandora absolutely initially thought she might have been hacked, and she might have thought he was an ai. She initially was just taking a peek under the hood at what was in the processor, and when she found it was mostly a bunch of random files, most of which were corrupted in some way, she was going to just wipe the hard drive.

And it didn't really matter if it was an AI. because she'd never seen a computer virus beg not to die like JAK did.

Was it cheesy? sure. Was it stupid of her to keep him? absolutely.

If this was a prank or a dupe or an attempted hack, they were certainly going for it in terms of production value, considering the drive had footage of a person's entire life from the moment he began to form memories to a hard roadblock of corrupted files.

don't worry, she hasn't seen everything thats in there, just skimming it was a bit much for her.

She honestly didn't start fully believing he wasn't an ai until she put him in her bot and saw how odd his code meshed with a body.

Sent an ask before about Jak and Pandora and trrrrry not to send people more then one ask at a time but not sure if it got ate by tumblr and still super curious so.

How did Pandora come to accept Jak wasn't just some super high tech sapient ai and was human when he didn't have proof or memories?

And how many sapient ai's are running around? Are they rare or common place? I'd guess they'd have rights as people if they're not allowed in the bot fights which look like 'to the death' types of matches.

OK SO YES I DID ANSWER THIS!! HOWEVER i have one addendum with the last bit of your question in mind!!

TECHNICALLY most bot fights are to the death, with complex ai bot fighting though, it's considered similar to to the death, but more often its to the dismemberment. It's extremely commonplace for AI bot fighters to get ripped apart and then reappear with the same ai in a different body or a patched up body, most AI fighters are backed up similarly to how JAK is, though with different intentions in mind :]

It's a testament to how good at bot fighting JAK and Pandora are that JAK's frame has stayed mostly the same across 1-4 bot fights per week, only gaining upgrades and having patch jobs. It's extremely common for losers to leave hacked to bits with no salvageable parts, but luckily JAK hasn't had to swap frames.... yet.

Do Jak and Pandora have an official color pallette? Asking for a friend (who is me, I am curious)

I'd also have to look for it, but i had some alternative colour palettes for jak bc I couldnt decide on his colours at first

I decided red looked too evil, green looked too edgy, and i love the blue decora looking one but alas.... the orange and blue reign supreme.

PANDORA:

Pandora used to fight in larger bot weight classes with her fighters, and also used to keep 'trophies' from past matches whenever she won them!! the heads of some of her victims sit on a shelf facing her bed, which is both super rad, and very freaky for JAK specifically.

JAK:

JAK's favourite tv show is NEO British Bake Off! The format of the great british bake off has remained mostly the same, with the exception of new and crazy ingredients being used from different alien cultures. JAK gets WAAAY too invested in this show, and frequently annoys Pandora with his enthusiasm about his favourite contestants.

OKAY!! so, First of all, this character does not belong to me, I'm sharing him with my lovely partner @creehd, this whole post is cosigned by him <3

NOW! Meet EXO!

EXO (short for Enhanced Xenomechanical Operative) was a prototype AI driven mass produced assassin bot who was scrapped as a design for having too unruly an AI. He is the only existing copy of his line, and as a result of being scrapped, he hates all organic life forms.

EXO is an absolute cunt. I don't say this with any amount of joking in the slightest, EXO is a self centered prick who thinks he's the most perfect being to have ever have been crafted, and that all organics are flawed and blind for not recognizing that, and that it is now his goal to prove that he is the most exceptional AI to ever exist.

How is he going to prove that? why by infiltrating the ranks of lesser AI and crushing every opponent in his path of course! YES EXO is also breaking the rules of the ai fighting rings, though he plays at being non sentient much better than JAK, mostly because his personality is mostly hate and he's a complete stick in the mud.

EXO understands the gravity of being caught as a sentient ai in these rings, and doesnt care, because all rules dictated by organics are merely roadblocks in the way of higher beings(him), though he does follow them otherwise to keep his cover from being blown.

THAT IS- he doesn't care until he clocks JAK (incorrectly) as being an AI of a similar complexity to him, and then gets COMPLETELY FUCKING FURIOUS because this is HIS stomping ground for crushing the weak and not only is JAK stepping on his turf, he's stepping on his turf and is becoming more popular than him. (not that popularity matters at all no way EXO doesn't crave validation at all nuh uh)

and so within lITERAL HOURS of knowing JAK and 'cracking his secret' EXO grows a hate boner for JAK so massive that it diverts his plan of 'being the best' to a plan of being 'better than JAK in every conceivable aspect to show how much BETTER I am than him.'

AND THUS begins the most one sided rivalry to ever exist in the entire history of the world: EXO wants JAK's head on a pike, JAK thinks EXO is a freak and needs to calm the fuck down, antics ensue because EXO can't get JAK expunged from the league without blowing his own cover,,, its all very goofy despite the bloodsport.

and yes, before anyone asks, cree has given permission, AND encouragement for EXO to be lusted after

Oh my goodness now I can't stop thinking about the fact that there's a possibility of someone finding out that Jak is sentient. Either him celebrating eerily humanely after he wins a particularly hard fight, or Pandora trying to comfort him after a loss(how often do you see bots getting comforted after a battle, eh?), OR the people(person?) who made Pandora quit legal bot fights (or someone else entirely, bitter that they lost to ur OCs in the underground battle) trying to undermine her, collecting footage and overanalysing it until they figure out that something isn't right...

see the fun thing about this ask is that it has some layers to it!

first of all- JAK, while still having some tells that he's not fully AI, at a certain point is pretty comfortably able to fly just under the radar of most people, because while bots being too human is absolutely grounds to get them expunged from their rings, bots having personalities is NOT a crime. Often times bot fighters will code in some rudimentary personality codes to make their bots more likeable, encourage people to bet on them, etc etc. Because of this, JAK is actually pretty popular in his ring because his personality seems so pronounced in comparison to others.

A lot of spectators in the underground rings tend not to look too deep into stuff, the nature of these being illegal prize fights often attracts people of all stripes, though the most common are either those who appreciate the sport, or just garden variety robogore sadists who like seeing bots get obliterated for fun.

That's not to say there haven't been close calls though...

in fact.... this is a good chance to mention that TECHNICALLY..... JAK's cover has, in a way, already been blown.

One of his competitors already thinks there's something up with him.

OH ABSOLUTELY!! Jak is VERY sensitive to movement around him. He gets jumpy very easily, and overstimulated very easily.

HOWEVER there are actually adjustments in his code to dampen or lower the sensitivity of his proximity sensors when a large portion of them are stimulated at once, specifically coded in for storage, OR-

Wearing clothes! Again, the main appeal of his frame was how lifelike and charismatic his model was capable of being, so often times fighters with his frame would be touted around parties or galas in the tech world.

so yes! Jak HATES crowds in this new form, however, crowds and close proximity is made bearable by his clothes

since he didnt have a faceplate as a human how does jak feel abt it now?? does it only activate in battle or is it like transformers and always there?

He sort of doesn't think about it too terribly much!! He mostly only activates it in battle, but it IS always there, see?

He doesn't typically activate it outside of battles, though he typically has it on when he's just hanging around the arena(because pandora DOES sometimes just observe bot fights without fighting in them, or shows up early to see some other matches before JAK fights) just in case, so he doesn't betray too much human emotion.

HOWEVER- when he was still getting used to his body, there were times where it would snap shut when he was startled or scared, which pandora thought was vERY funny.

I love Jak very much, he's baby. He needs a hug and a warm blanky.

Pandora needs... New toys. =W= (manic gremlin cackle)!!!

This AU is inspired by the fact Jak is an unlockable skin in 2-player. :)

The concept behind Jak's Dreadzone armor having a less edgy design in comparison to Ratchet's would be that while Ratchet is the one with the "bad boy image" (given by Vox), Jak's given the opposite press to balance it out. Helping kittens out of trees & grannies across the street kind of deal. Drives Jak crazy to be seen as a big ole softie lol.

The two still match emblems since they are partners, so they have to work together in the arena chellanges. When playing Deadlocked 2-player, if player 1 & 2 get too far away from one another, they get a countdown before they are both killed. Same rules would apply in this AU. They're in it together whether they like it or not, and if one fails, they both fail.
