I just realized that I haven’t posted newsies in a while. So here’s some ships I like/dislike;

Finch x Jojo (I got this from a Sprace fic and have been obsessed with them ever since)
Jack x Crutchie (does anyone else like them? I don’t see people post them on here a lot)
Albert x Elmer (I don’t actually have a reason for them)
I’m sure there’s others I just can’t think of rn
Dislike:
Javey (I’m sorry, don’t hurt me 😭 I have my reasons but there’s too many to put here)
Jack x Sarah (these two make me ship Javey… I don’t like them)
Ralbert (I just don’t see it)
Jack x Spot (I see them having a brotherly relationship, also didn’t realize a lot of people ship this)
Sarah x Katherine (my brain can’t get past the fact they are essentially the same person)
If you like the ships I don’t, great, keep liking them, you just won’t change my mind on them. If you don’t like the ones I do, same thing, I don’t care, I’m going to keep liking them.
I’ve seen way to many people get mad at people for liking or not liking a certain ship in the other fandoms I’m in, idk how the newsies fandom is, so I put the ending to be safe. People are weirdly rude about this stuff.
It started with a comment about Katherine.
Shubble and Joey were… not exactly getting along, but coexisting. Playful bickering, as usual, but with less fistfighting.
They were working on a school project in Shubble's house.
Joey and Shubble weren't friends. Everybody knew that. Even if they did hang out a lot, those hangouts almost always started or ended in a fight. But they were doing better this time. They were fighting, of course, but not a FISTfight. Just bickering.
Until Joey made a comment on how Katherine was going to marry him when they were adults. Of course Shubble couldn't let that slide! Katherine had made it clear that she wasn't ready to date them yet. So their bickering devolved into an argument. And the argument devolved into, well…
Shubble straddling Joey, one fist gripping Joey's shirt and holding him up and the other fist raised and knuckles bloody, ready to punch. Her nose was bleeding and the side of her jaw was swelling. Her ribs were sore from an earlier kick.
Joey had his hands around her neck, applying a not damaging amount of pressure, but enough to threaten and leave a bruise. His eye was swollen shut and his grin was filled with blood. His ankle was being crushed by Shubble's foot and was rapidly bruising.
A drop of blood from Shubble's nose dripped onto Joey's face. Shubble stared at it in surprise, dropping the fist and swiping at her nose.
"...huh." she rasped when the hand came back bloody. "I guess even assholes can get a good enough hit."
At that Joey started laughing. He dropped his hands from her neck to curl in on himself with laughter. Shubble joined his laughter, snorting and falling backwards with a slight wince at the pain in her ribs.
"... wanna play Mario kart?" Joey ventured when his laughter faded.
Shubble snorted again and stood up, helping him up. "Sure. Let's wash off our literally bloody hands before we grab a controller though, huh dipshit?"
The project laid abandoned on the table, half done as Joey and Shubble played the game with their clean and bandaged hands grasping the steering wheel controllers.
That's what Katherine walked in on. Her two best friends/half partners bleeding and bruised playing fucking Mario kart! While still actively bleeding!

ship what you want but i don’t get when people consider jatherine to be out of nowhere… particularly the kiss but i think i just really like to psychoanalyse my favourite characters… it definitely isn’t random like they have chemistry it’s just subtle as hell because that isn’t really what you’re supposed to be focusing on. jack is endlessly flirty and katherine refuses to admit her feelings even when you can see it on her face and in her voice and the way she shows concern for him and the denial is So Real, particularly in watch what happens. she kisses him because she needs to do something, anything to reassure him that she wasn’t conspiring against him or double-crossing him and his boys to pulitzer and that she really truly believes in him and cares about the strike just as much as he does. i like to think she hasn’t really experienced love like this before or much unconditional love in general & doesn’t really know what to do about it. i’m a jatherine defender til i die

i think that jack kelly and katherine pulitzer deserve so much love and happiness and they should get to live a long and loving life together. they should have a family and jack should be the dad he needed as a child. katherine and jack would be incredible parents, albeit untraditional. jack would love his family more than life itself and would fill their home with paintings representing hope, love, kindness, and curiosity. katherine would write stories for their children and jack would play with them every night regardless of how tired he is from the long day. their children would be messy and creative and loud and brash, just like they are, and they’d be raised with the belief that every human deserves respect and decency and a life without struggle simply for being human. jack and katherine would be the best parents they can be, and would be best friends while doing so.

Katherine and Jack who spend hours sat up in his penthouse, overlooking the city. Talking for hours on end, interrupted with intermittent soft kisses as it reaches the early hours of the evening and the sunset turns the sky shades of pinks and oranges over the tops of the buildings
jack and kath are so cute i am nothing but a sucker for a cute disney romance these two kids love each other so much and thats beautiful to me. i hope he wakes up so excited to see her face and i hope she falls asleep eager to see him again (just like the hit 2011 song then i see u again famously cut bc … the icu..). i love my writer & artist duo sooooo much.
i understand when people say that they don’t think jatherine wouldn’t last and obviously the way their relationship ends up is up for interpretation but i can’t imagine anything else than them growing old together and being married and in love because they literally changed each others perceptions of love (“love at first sight’s for suckers / at least it used to be” and etc. vs “til the moment i found you / i thought i knew what love was”)
i think these come from jack struggling with commitment and him not really being able to stay in one place which then in turn seeps into how he views relationships and therefore would struggle with keeping a serious, meaningful relationship with someone, especially in a romantic sense, and katherine not having really experienced unconditional love and support like this in her life. obviously this one is more of an interpretation than canon but given the way her father is, it’s very likely, and after meeting jack she gets to properly learn what love is. through all of the cocky flirting she could see someone who actually cared for her and wanted to spend time with her just for the sake of being around her and it opened her eyes to something new. generally speaking neither of them have experienced a serious romantic relationship like this before, in my eyes, and it will not be perfect and it will be messy but it’s their mess and they love it and they love each other forever and ever.
actually the reason why i can so vividly imagine jatherine living a long fulfilling life together is because they remind me of i’m a believer by the fucking monkees
