âMy apologies for disturbing your meal, but would you entertain my company a moment?â Youâd been too distracted at picking through todayâs soup to hear Clive approach. Â
Or at least you thought it was soup, maybe it was stew. Is there a proper difference? You just asked for whateverâs hot. The novelty of warm food in your stomach never seems to wear off.
âOf course â Iâm pretty much finished anyway.â You reply, placing the spoon back in the bowl and gesture to the seat opposite. âHow can I help?â
The Fire Dominant sits and smiles sheepishly, lacing his fingers together as he places his hands on the table.
âIt has been brought to my attention that you are interested in learning your letters.â
âOhâŠâ Youâre embarrassed that, somehow, itâs landed under Cliveâs remit. Youâd only confided in a handful of your fellow Cursebreakers - it had been necessary when you obviously couldnât read reports that had come in, or send updates in return, and discussed the possibility of learning with Dorys on a handful of occasions but it had never seemed a good time. Youâd arrived at the Hideaway a few months before Clive had, spending a brief period getting accustomed to a free life before you fell in with the Cursebreakers, wanting to assist fellow Bearers in having the same second chance you had been given. Your former master had been a traveling merchant and it had been either you defend him from fiends and bandits on the road, or heâd have no qualms leaving you as bait to gain him passage. After going under Tarjaâs steady hand, your Brand had been removed and youâd been sent out with a blade. The past five years had been filled with re-establishing the new Hideaway and Cursebreaker responsibilities.
âI didnât mean for it to be brought to you, Clive. It was just a passing commentâŠâ
âI wish you had. Youâve toiled with the Cursebreakers for years for those to live on their own terms, and that should include learning letters, if they so wish.â He hesitates a moment, looking a little bashful. âI am afraid I have come with a somewhat selfish notion in my proposition.â
âWhat do you mean?â If he needed a Cursebreaker who could read, there were plenty on handâŠ
âI heard from Dorys that you didnât seem particularly keen on sitting in with the children in Miss Shirleighâs lessons, and I know that Harpocrates is often kept busy with research on other matters. However, I am aware of someone who is a fine scholar and suddenly finds themselves at a loss of what to do with their time.â
âWho?â You frown, trying to think of who else in the Hideaway would befit a title. One of Midâs Engineers, perhaps?
âMy brother â Joshua. Heâs been prescribed a moonâs cycle of rest by Tarja and it is going to be difficult to get him to comply. I thought if he had something to focus on in his period of convalescence, it might at least keep him within the Hideaway, and help you fulfil your goal.â
âBut if your brother is meant to be resting, he surely shouldnât be attempting to tutor me.â
âResting from anything physical â I assure you his mind remains at full health. Please, at least think about it. He is getting through the contents of our shelves at a fair pace, I think heâd enjoy acting the tutor.â
You hesitate. âHave you broached this idea with him?â
âNot yet. I thought it best to speak with you first.â
âI am not sure. It doesnât feel the best time. I mean, with the growing number of aetherfloods and akashicâŠâ
âYouâve done so much for the Hideaway over the years â please, allow yourself to be selfish. And, if you still struggle to do so, please do it as a favour to me. I would be in your debt.â
âAll right. But see how your brother feels first. If he doesnât want to, please donât push it.â
 Clive grins.

You were nervous ahead of your first meeting with Joshua. Clive had offered his chambers as a makeshift classroom â Founder knows he was hardly in it â and he thought the two of you would appreciate the solitude it provided.
You knocked hesitantly on the doors before they were swiftly opened by a smiling Clive.
âCome in.â
The Phoenix is already sat at the solarâs desk â a bit more colour in his cheeks than there had been when youâd seen him limp past the mess, on his way up to the infirmary after their return from Kanver. The map thatâs usually found spread across Cliveâs desk is carefully folded away and instead blank parchments, ink pots and quills fill their place, and another chair has been sourced, sat the opposite side of the blonde.
Joshua gets to his feet with a charming smile, approaching you. He kneels swiftly, taking your hand and kissing the back of it in greeting. âMy lady.â
âJoshua, did you not learn your lesson from Mid?â Clive laughs, noting your shocked expression as the blonde gets back to his feet and lets go of your hand.
âI cannot help it, Clive.â
âIt is a pleasure to meet you.â You nod, trying to regain your composure. âAnd thank you, my lord, for agreeing to help me.â
âNot at all. And, please, call me Joshua.â He gestures for you to take the seat in front of the desk before looking to his brother. âClive, if youâd be so kindâŠâ
âOf course.â The outlaw nods, heading towards the door. âEnjoy your studies.â
The next few hours were spent with Joshua establishing how much you did know. Some letters were familiar, but your grasp on the full alphabet was patchy. Your penmanship needed attention â non-existent before this morning, truthfully - as he kindly helped position the quill between your fingers after enquiring as to your sword hand.
At noon, when your head had started to swim and your fingers cramped from copying out letters, there had been a hesitant knock at the door before Jote, the Phoenixâs attendant, entered, carrying a tray bearing a vial of medicine and some food.
âYour grace, forgive the interruption but it is time for your medicine,â she nods at the tray in her hands. âI also bid you do not overtire yourself with your tutoring.â
âThank you, Jote. I assure you I am fine, butâŠâ He pauses, watching you scribble out a poor attempt at the letter Q once more. â..I do believe that is probably enough for us to cover today, my student?â
âIf that would be acceptable, m⊠Joshua.â You correct. âI do not wish to appear work shy.â
âNot at all. We have covered a fair amount this morning. Here,â he slides over some blank pieces of parchment, alongside your list of letters and another one with a single word on it. âGood tutors assign their students exercises. Practice your letters when you can, and try to say them aloud too. We can meet again tomorrow, if youâre available.â
You nod, âI can check in with Dorys and send word. Thank you.â You take up the papers in your hand, before pausing and pointing at the one with the single word upon it. âWhatâs this one?â
âThat,â the Phoenix grins, charmingly, âis your name.â
--
More lessons pass, a little longer in nature as your hand adjusts, though a little spread out due to your Cursebreaker responsibilities. Youâd been away two nights and word had been sent to Joshua for a lesson on your return.
You bid the blonde good morning before sitting down and retrieving a pile of papers from your pack with your other hand. âMy apologies, I did complete the exercises whilst away, but we got caught in a storm and the parchment got a bit⊠soggy.â You slide the pitiful bundle of paper across the desk. Itâs dried out now at least, but thereâs patches of smudged ink on a few lines.
âI intended to re-do them before our lesson but, wellâŠâ You place your writing hand on the desk, revealing it to be bandaged up. âI canât quite hold the quill. Tarja said it might be a few weeks before I could â sword hilt included, I must add. But I do hope this wonât hamper our lessons too badly.â
Joshuaâs eyes widen and he takes your hand in gentle, inquisitive fingers. âWhat happened?â
âIt was foolish of me. We were intercepting some Black Shields in Rosaria. Iâd dropped my blade and one of theirs was aiming true for a Bearer. I panicked, I supposed, grabbed his blade with my hand and kicked him back.â
He winces at your tale. âMay I take a look?â
âErm, of course.â You watch as he deftly unwraps the bandage Tarja had re-wrapped this morning. Maybe he thought you were trying to get out of penmanship practice? He reaches your palm â black stitches hold the palm together, the cut thankfully clean rather than jagged.
âIt looks painful.â
âIâve had worse.â You reply, lightly. Itâs true.
âI donât know how much you have heard of the blessings the Phoenix provides.â He conjures a flame in his other hand, playing with it between his fingers. âOne is the ability to heal, if you would permit me.â
âOh, no.â You want to tug your hand back from his but slim fingers keep it firmly in place. âI would never ask that-â
âYou havenât, I have. May I? I would so like my favourite student to keep up her penmanship lessons.â
âNot if it causes you to suffer.â
âIt wonât. Here.â He presses the flame into your palm and you brace yourself for a burn. A warm sensation envelopes your palm, like when youâve warmed a blanket on the hearth in the ale hall, before an odd sort of feeling tickles over your palm. He removes his palm to reveal the line of thread Tarja had painstakingly sewed last night is free and not a mark remains on your palm.
âHow does it feel?â
âFine. But, Joshua, youâre meant to be resting, you shouldnât have-â
âDo not fuss, please. It is my pleasure. I will, of course, let Tarja know of your miraculous recovery. Now,â he lets go of your hand at last, allowing you to pull it back and flex the fingers tenderly, and turns his attention back to the exercises youâd presented a few moments before. âYou took these out with you?â
âMm.â You nod, placing your hand back down in your lap before a thought crosses your mind. âIâm so sorry, I shouldâve asked before I took them out of the Hideaway-â
âNo, not at all.â The blonde chuckles. âThey are yours to do with what you see fit. I am just surprised at the dedication to your studies.â
âI do not mean to waste your time. I know itâs not my finest work, but I didnât want to show up empty-handed. I could re-do them now, I meanâŠâ
âRelax. I can decipher these just fine, which means you can start on these, if your hand feels up to it. Try reading aloud as you copy, hm?â He slides over a new piece of parchment, filled with new words for the day.
You nod, eagerly, and pick up the quill. Â
--
âWe are not going to read all of those today, are we?â The pile is nearly up to Joshuaâs shoulder on the desk.
âNo,â he smiles. âIt is my fault â I was in the shelves earlier looking for some practice material and some wanted to share their favourite literature with you. This one is Cliveâs suggestion.â
He lifts up a couple and picks up the book in question, placing it down in front of you.
âThe Saint And The Sec⊠SectaryâŠ?â
âVery good.â Joshuaâs praise always makes your head feel warm. âItâs a play, so be wary that if Clive sees you reading this, heâll probably make you run lines with him. He always plays Sir Crandell.â
âOh, and what role did you perform?â
âI never made the cut, sadly. I could never remember my lines well enough and Clive would not let you keep a script in hand.â He smiles at the memory. âThis, however, was my favourite.â
He takes a book off the top of the pile and holds it out in front of him for you to read.
âThe Merry Moogle And Other Tales.â You frown, the title ringing a bell. âThey read this to the children for bedtime stories.â
âAre you mocking my tastes?â
âNo!â You look alarmed. âI-â
âI jest â forgive me. It truly is one of my favourites and is, in fact, the first book I read by myself. It is a selfish pick, really, I am looking forward to going through it again, if youâd be so kind?â
âI can try.â He pushes the book in your direction before getting to his feet and lifting his chair, walking around the desk and placing it besides you.
âI hope you donât mind â reading upside down is something I have yet to master.â
âOh, no. Itâs fine.â You feel flushed, is it possible the Phoenix just emits heat wherever he goes? He leans in, flipping open the book.
âExcellent. Begin, when youâre ready.â
You nod, swallowing.
âThere⊠once was a very merry⊠moogleâŠâ

More lessons pass, growing longer in their duration. Dorys appears to have you on duties within the Hideaway rather than out, but you donât complain. Clive has even had to chase the two out of his chambers twice to hold discussions, though he had immediately clocked the copy of The Saint And The Sectary on the desk the first time, regaling how he made a fine Sir Crandell in his youth. Joshua had rolled his eyes at that point, causing you to laugh and Clive looking a little bemused before heâd waved the two of you out.
Far too soon, though, Joshuaâs convalescence is nearly at an end, alongside word that the Enterprise is mostly repaired and ready its return journey to Ash and the Mothercrystal that resides there. Youâre nervous for all who will be boarding, but especially your dear tutor.
Youâre sat side by side in Cliveâs chambers once more, trying to ignore the fact that Joshuaâs thigh is pressing up against your own, and youâve just finished reading a passage from The History of Valisthea. Joshua admitted it was perhaps a little dry, but he wanted you to experience all sorts of genres in his lessons.
âI canât help but notice that your confidence has increased tenfold in reading aloud and I do not think it is solely down to having me as your captive audience. Care to share your secret?â
You bite your lip in a smile. âIâve been⊠Iâve been reading to Torgal.â
âOh?â Joshua smiles adoringly at you, prompting you to continue.
âI was a little self-conscious of practicing in the bunks, but thereâs a bit of decking that overhangs the lake that Iâd taken to. He started to join me â I think to nap away from the children. He usually sleeps through it, but I see his ears twitch, sometimes a tail wag⊠Apologies, that sounds foolish now Iâve actually said it aloud.â
âNot at all. Weâve always thought Torgal a fine hound, and he proves it more every day.â
Joshua then leans over and reaches for a bit of parchment over the other side of the desk.
âNow, the true test is whether you can read my everyday handwriting,â Joshua teases, handing it over to you.
âYou have fine penmanship.â The words he notes down for exercises are always clear and easy to read.
âThat is just for our exercises together. Iâm afraid I fell into bad habits on the road. Scrawls, more than anything.â He nods at the parchment. âAloud, if you may.â
You wet your lips with your tongue, squinting a little at first at Joshuaâs cursive.
âForgive me for putting you to the test with my hand, but I am confident that you will meet this challenge as you have throughout our studies thus far. I must confess I have enjoyed our time together, and I am disappointed to see it come to an end.â
You look up from the parchment, wondering if this is the last time youâd ever be within each otherâs company. âIâll miss our lessons too, Joshua.â
âThereâs a little more, on the back.â
âOh.â You turn the parchment over and continue. âHowever, now we are no longer tutor and student, I would like to ask one thing that I will simply regret if I do not. May I⊠kiss you?â
You stare at the word again a moment, before looking up at him. âDid I read that right?â
âDo not doubt yourself now.â He says, softly, maintaining eye contact.
âThen my answer is yes, you may.â
He places a hand on your scarred cheek as he leans forward, his other arm slipping around your waist to bring you in closer before your lips meet. Itâs clumsy, you know itâs clumsy â youâve never kissed anyone before â but prove yourself a quick learner again, your tongue finding entrance into his mouth and deepening the kiss.
The two of you pull away after a moment and Joshua leans his forehead against yours, keeping you pulled in close.
âI am afraid I have failed as your tutor on this occasion, my darling.â
âHow so?â You ask, quietly.
âI am unable to come up with a word to aptly describe the feeling in my heart at finally having you in my arms.â

âOh.â You turn the parchment over and continue. âHowever, now we are no longer tutor and student, I would like to ask one thing that I will simply regret if I do not.

The deadlands near the Northern Territories were dreary and dark, something that the realm has become far too familiar with in recent years. Its void of life has created an eerie stain on the map of Valisthea; a tell-tale sign to people that nothing good survives there with its lack of resources. Joshua knew this, yet you had somehow convinced him to set up camp for the night right in the heart of them.
It wasnât something the both of you had planned for, being that he wanted to get to Prince Dion sooner rather than later. However, you had insisted on stopping for the night when he started to cough non-stop, wheezing more and more with each stretch of travel. He knew you wouldnât take no for an answer, the stubborn being that you are, and he wasnât in any mood to argue. The last thing he remembers was you setting up the tent around him as he went in and out of consciousness, sleep taking over his brain until he was no longer present mentally. Now, as his mind starts to wake up, his first instinct is to locate your figure. He didn't sense any movement and the sounds of the deadlands were silent. Sitting up quickly, fast enough to make him dizzy, he pulls back the flap of the tent to see everything has been set up for the night, except you were nowhere to be seen.Â
Joshua groans. He canât believe you ran off alone again. After telling you numerous times to not leave his sight, you still donât listen. While marching to the beat of your own drum is a trait he admires greatly, it drives him absolutely insane at the same time. It is times like these where he wishes his body didnât fail him so greatly; to have the energy to take care of himself better. It would save him a lot of trouble for himself, but for you especially.
Joshua has known you since the two of you were kids. You were kept in the medicine houses, learning how to heal Rosarian soldiers as the time for war was upon them. He recalls being there a lot as a kid, being as sick as he was. He would always watch you as you watched one of the healers work on him, concentrating on what to do and use for certain ailments. He was charmed the moment he saw you, his chest fluttering in ways he didnât quite understand at the time.Â
Those were the only times he saw you. The two of you hadnât spoken any words to each other unless needed for assessing, and that was that. It wasnât until after the events of Phoenix Gate, where he remembers vague images of someone pulling him out of the rumble and loaded onto a carriage, where the girl who made his heart flare worked on him all the way until they went into hiding under the protection of the Undying. Long story short, being the only two children in isolation from the rest of the world made it very easy to become fast companions and the Undying declared you his guardian for his travel due to such a bond. Not that he would have accepted any other answer, for you knew him like the back of your hand.Â
Which means he knew that you knew leaving with no warning would upset him, especially out in the deadlands.
Joshua walks out into the open, starting to pace back and forth unknowingly. You have done this before and have turned up just fine. But the what ifs, the what ifs that fill his mind with dread, make him uneasy with the same questions. Does he go searching for you? Does he stay put? What would you do if he left with no sign? It is the same cycle over and over again.
âIf you keep pacing like that, this stop will have been for not.â
Joshua whips his head around to see you standing a few feet away, smiling at him like you werenât just gone for who knows how long. He takes a long, good look at you, examining to make sure nothing is out of place. But you looked just as you did when he passed out; clean and unscathed.Â
âI wouldnât pace if you would just listen to me for once.â He grimaces.Â
All you did was smile at him, eyes turning into crescents as you walked towards him. âI apologize, Your Grace. I was out finding some herbs for your well-being, but I am sure you can assume how that went.â
âWell, my darling, this is the deadlands. One can assume that means everything is dead.â He feels his lip wanting to curve into a smirk, but he represses it. He canât let you keep getting away with this: scaring him and shifting his mood back the minute he sees you. He wants to say more, but the second he starts to move his lips, he hears a chirp come from your satchel.Â
You laughed amusingly, from what Joshua can assume is his reaction to the noise. He watches you reach for the latch, opening it slowly. âIf everything is dead, care to explain this?â
He watches the satchel move slightly, and then sees two black ears pop up. A moment later, he sees piercing green eyes, and not a moment too soon he sees a pink nose and whiskers. He is at a loss for words as he stares at a black cat. A bloody black cat.
âIsnât he cute?â You exclaimed, removing the satchel from your body and setting it on the ground, revealing the cats full form. âI found him hurdled in a crevice off the outer cliff. I didnât see any other cats, so I guess he is all alone.âÂ
Joshua looks at the cat closely. âHow do you know it is a boy?â
You smirked at him. âI can show you if you want.â You go to pick the cat up and immediately it clicks what you were about to do.
âNo need!â Joshua rushes out, his face heating up from the embarrassment of his outburst, causing you to burst out laughing.Â
âYou should see the look on your face!â You laughed, sitting down in the process and letting the cat crawl into your lap. âI was thinking of what we should name him. Lance short for Lancelot? Crow? Maybe something more common like Bernard?â
Joshuaâs eyes go wide. âDonât tell me we are keeping him.â
âWell, why not?â You shrugged. âHe could be the best healer in the group, especially if I train him.â
âMy love, he is a cat.â Joshua states the obvious. He doesnât even know the first thing about taking care of a cat. Sure, he knew how to take care of a Chocobo and even a frost wolf, but a cat? That was out of his range.Â
âCats can be wonderful companions, if you let them.â You smiled, slowly cradling the black ball of fur in your arms as you stood up. You walked over to him, holding the cat up by your face to give the most puppiest of eyes. âCome on, Joshua. Can we please take him with us? Iâll take care of him just like I take care of you. Besides, just you wait! I will make him the best healer youâve ever seen!â
Joshua doesnât want to give in, but the more he looks at you, the more his willpower crumbles. He hates how easily he folds for you, and as he continues to stare at you and the cat, he knows he has lost this battle. With a long sigh, Joshua nods in defeat. âFine, but please, for the love of Greagor Herself, donât run off again by yourself.â
In an instant, he feels your plush lips kiss his cheek. He watches as you buzzed with excitement, holding the cat close to you. âThank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Joshua! You will not regret this!âÂ
He is going to regret this.
-
It had been a week since Crow, the name you decided to give your furry friend, was found. Like you had promised, youâve been very good at taking care of both him and Joshua. Joshua was impressed with your ability to multitask between two beings. However, what was starting to crawl over him like a green second skin was all the fault of the little feline.
Joshua admits that Crow is very well-behaved. He doesnât run off anywhere he isnât supposed to. He is relatively quiet, letting out a meow or a chirp if he is hungry or wants some attention. He doesnât get upset being carried in the satchel you carry, quite the opposite really. Joshua has noticed that Crow is quite keen on keeping his head perched over the bag to watch the surroundings during travel. There is nothing to complain about, except for one major thing: how much he got your attention.Â
The first night, you had been curled up into Joshuaâs side, per usual, with Crow settled at your feet. It wasnât until he woke up the next morning that he noticed your warmth seemed further away and saw you lying flat on your back with Crow curled on top of your chest. Joshua remembers a glimmer of jealousy in his heart but set it aside quickly. It is just one night. This will not be common practice.
Until it did. It always started the same and ended the same. Joshua started to loathe the damn cat, and he felt silly for it. âItâs a bloody cat!â He thought. He should not feel such negative feelings towards it, but every time he pushes the jealousy out, it rolls back ten-fold.
Joshua is walking side by side with you, the two of you trailing the Crystal Road, getting closer to where the two of you need to be. Joshua is deep in thought, negative swirls of green dancing around his head, when he feels a small bump against his leg. He ignores it, thinking he got too close to your bag, when he feels it again.
He looks down to see Crow looking up at him, eyes wide and mouth curled. Joshua watches him bump his head against his leg, only to look back up at him with his big green eyes.Â
Joshua is stumped. Is he hungry? Can he feel the negative energy enclosing in his brain? Can cats do that?Â
âUm⊠dearestâŠâ Joshua says softly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful walk.Â
âHmm?â
âCrow wants something.â
Joshua and you stop in the middle of the road, and you spread the bag apart. âWhatâs up, little guy?âÂ
You scratched his head, and Crow started to purr. You chuckled, looking at Joshua who was standing there feeling lost.Â
âYou are so knowledgeable, yet so clueless.â You smirked. âHe wants attention. He wants you to pet him.â
âMe?â Joshua asks, seriously questioning how that could be true. Crow hadnât been craving his attention; it had been yours.
âHe wants you to scratch his head. He loooooves that.â You drawled out. âGo on. Just like this.â
You scratched his head around his ears, demonstrating to Joshua how to proceed. He hesitantly lets his fingers run across the back of Crowâs head, just petting him at first to get a feel for how he will react. Crow pushes his head into Joshuaâs fingers, which encourages him to start moving his fingers back and forth quickly.Â
Joshua couldnât believe his luck. Crow was purring at the attention he was getting, and it made Joshua grow bolder. He starts to scratch down under Crowâs neck, making him lift his neck further for more room. In a way, this felt very therapeutic to him. Itâs as if the twangs of jealousy that filled his head left within seconds, putting a smile on his face.
He hears a small chuckle, and he looks up to see you smiling behind your hand. He perks up, still scratching Crow in the process. âWhatâs so funny?â
âIt just seems like the sun has decided to come back out.â You dropped your hand, letting it reach for his free one. âYou seemed rather gloomy as of late. Iâm just happy to see you smile genuinely."
âI apologize,â Joshua followed up with. âI have so much on my mind.â It wasnât a lie, of course. He did have a lot on his mind, but he doesnât have the courage to admit that the main thing getting to him was jealousy due to a damn cat.
âI know, but thatâs why you have me. You know Iâm always here for you.â You swayed, pulling him in a little closer.
Joshua hums and brings his hand to your face. With a gentle grasp, he pulls you in for a soft kiss, reminding himself that you are indeed here for him. He knows you wouldnât put yourself in such a dangerous position if you didnât feel strongly for him.Â
The kiss is interrupted by another head bump, causing Joshua to pull away. He hears you laugh and next thing he knows the satchel strap is over his shoulder, the cat in the bag right by his right leg.Â
âIâll let you carry him for a while. He seems to want your affection.â You grin. He laughs softly and takes your right hand to press on the long, winding road with his right hand in the cat bag.
-
Joshua and you made camp, and for once he thought it best to stop for the night. It wouldnât be long before the two, well three of you, reach the Crystal Belt, so some time to gather himself in preparation for his meeting with Dion sounded best.Â
Joshua was settling into the tent, waiting for you to come join him. He had started to help clean for an early start tomorrow, but you insisted he go ahead. While he usually would insist right back to keep his gentleman roots intact, he could feel the long day weighing on his eyelids and chose to let your stubbornness flourish for the night.Â
His eyes were starting to flutter shut, until he heard the soft patter of paws near him. He opens his eyes to see Crow staring at him, or at least what he can see of him. His black coat completely camouflages him into the shadows of the night, but his green eyes glimmer in the dark.
Joshua sits up on his elbows, hesitant to move. He watches Crow observe him, the cat's head tilting by the way the eyes become diagonal from one another. Petting Crow in a bag, where he is secure, is one thing. To engage with him where he can make any move he wishes is another. While Crow has been friendly, it has been when you were around. This is the first time he has been alone with the feline, and he doesnât know how to act.Â
Crow had gotten noticeably closer and was now at the crevice of Joshuaâs left arm. He stiffed when he felt Crow sniffing him, goosebumps rolling over his body in anticipation. Great Greagor, he is going to jump me. However, not only did that not happen, but the next thing Joshua sees is Crow let out a yawn, stretching his whole body in the process, before falling on his side with his head laying in between Joshuaâs elbow. Small breaths can be heard as Crow starts to relax further, causing Joshua to relax with him. He lays back down, getting more on his side so he is in a comfortable position that allows room for Crow to stay undisturbed from his slumber. Carefully, he pulls Crow closer to him, making him snuggle more into his arm.Â
âThis isnât so bad.â Joshua thinks, a small smile forming on his lips. His mom never allowed Torgal to sleep with him as a child, her excuse being the wolf dander would deplete his immune system more than it already was. To have an animal so close to him is comforting. It makes him feel oddly safe, even when he feels safe in your company.Â
He hears the tent flaps open, and the moonlight shines into the tent. He sees your expression as you look at him and Crow, and his heart melts at how your eyes lit up. He watches you tie the flap so it is slightly ajar, and then watches you crawl in. You sit criss-crossed beside him, very obviously admiring the scene occurring.Â
âWell, isnât this a sweet surprise?â You said smugly, arms crossed.
âYeah,â Joshua lightly laughs. âI guess I can understand why you would want to sleep with him and not me.â
âAwe, was My Lord jealous of the little pussy cat?â You pouted jokingly, and all Joshua can do is groan. He knows it is silly, but he canât deny it.
âI wonât deny my feelings, though rather immature.â He huffs lightly, looking down at the sleeping ball of fur. He moves his hand to stroke the black fur of Crowâs side, his mood lighting up even further. âThis is strangely healing, however. I donât blame you.â
âWell, you can now have a turn with him. He is a great sleepmate.â You moved to set up a side for yourself, but Joshua carefully reached for your arm causing you to turn to him quizzically.Â
âI have a proposition, being that you join us instead of sleeping alone tonight.â
The warmth in your eyes at his statement makes his heart leap, knowing your answer before it slips your lips. He watches you undress to the undergarments that lie beneath your outer clothes, and lifts the covers when you go to lie beside him. He intertwined his legs with yours, both of your bodies getting as close as possible without crushing Crow. His forehead touches yours, inhaling with an ease he hadnât felt in a while.
âWhat is it?â You asked, concern in your tone.
âNothing,â Joshua mumbles, his left arm cradling Crow to his chest and his right hand settling on your waist. âThis is just nice.â
You both fall asleep to the soft hum of Crowâs breathing.
-
Joshuaâs perception of Crow has changed gradually as you all traveled. When he feels his mood sour, itâs like Crow knows and works to get his attention, and suddenly Joshua feels 100 times better. Crow was therapeutic, in a way, so traveling with him wasnât as bad as he thought it would be. If he was being honest with himself, he felt rather happy when Crow begged for his attention.Â
There had been a change of plans in the journey to Prince Dionâs camp. On the belt of the Crystal Road, Joshua had started to feel worse for wear. His coughing had grown rougher and more painful, more blood coming out of his lungs. His chest wound was growing bigger by the day. He knows he is running out of time, so he had insisted that the journey must continue. Once again, however, you did not listen. Which is why he is now laying in a bed at the Dalimil Inn.Â
âWe really need to get a move on, dearest. We need to get to Dion.â He tries to sound healthy, but even he isnât dumb enough to think he sounds convincing. He starts to move, wanting to sit up, before another round of coughing rushes out of his lungs.
âYeah, and you struggling to stay up right is going to help us get there faster.â You snarked, still light hearted nonetheless.
Joshua wishes to retort, but he doesnât have it in him. He falls back with a groan, his brain pounding and chest tight. He knew keeping Ultima locked away would be hard, but the agony that comes with it is more than he could have realized. Being naturally ill doesnât provide any immunity to pain, and Joshua was learning the hard way.
You come into his vision, and like the angel you were, you pull the covers over him. Tucking him in like you were his baby, you pressed a kiss to his forehead, which Joshua relished in. He wonât admit it to you, but he has always loved being taken care of.Â
âIâm going to run out to the market and find some minerals and herbs for your medicine. Iâll also get you some food as you should eat something.â You twirled a piece of his hair, only to drop it to brush your fingertips against the baby hairs that meet his forehead. âCrow will be here to keep watch.â
Joshua turns his head slightly to see Crow sleeping in the desk chair beside the bed, curled up into the seat. He knew he had to be tired, and a weird sense of envy seeped into Joshuaâs bones. He wishes he could sleep with such ease.Â
Fingertips graze his chin, rotating it until he meets your eyes again. The way you are looking at him makes his chest feel lighter, even with the chaos and muck that stirs within. Your skin on his soothes him, and he canât help but to lean into your touch. His eyes flutter shut, and he hears you hum softly. âTry to get some rest. I shall return to you soon.âÂ
Light pressure sets against his lips, lasting for a few seconds, before releasing. He listens to your steps, and continues to listen after the door shuts. The faintness of your steps disappear, but Joshua still hears them in his mind. The soft pitter-patter of your light feet tap away, and slowly pulls him into a deep sleep.
-
Even in the few moments before Joshuaâs slumber ends, he can sense a difference within himself. He feels as if his chest is heavier than before, but not as it was before. The angry flourishes of pain have settled to a dull ache, something he isnât accustomed to these days. There is a peacefulness that has taken homage, and it is the most calm he has felt in the last few days. The heaviness on his chest is comforting. It felt like the times he would wake up with your head on his chest, with deep breathing that vibrated his being.Â
In the early stages of being awake, he reaches for his chest expecting to feel your hair against his skin. His fingers brush against what he believes to be hair, until his brain reminds him that it isnât coarse and surely doesnât rise and fall. His eyes snap open, sleepy delirium resolved as he comes face to face with black fur. The light in the room had dimmed slightly, meaning it had been approximately two hours since his slumber. Sometime during the duration, Crow had taken it upon himself to rest on Joshuaâs chest.
Crow was purring insistently loud, his eyes crescented as he rests with his body curled. Joshua couldnât explain it, but the vibrations soothed the violent thumping that would make him stumble with each step. His whole body felt as if he had found an oasis; like he had discovered something that quenched his relief. Or more so, Crow had discovered how to help him.Â
Joshua scratched Crowâs head, getting behind the ears, making the black feline purr louder and lean into his hand. He could feel a lump in his throat, for somehow, a cat had come to his aid. A cat took one look at him and knew how to help him. Who knew such a remedy would treat him so diligently and work so well. He presumes Greagor knew what She was doing when you had come across the ball of fur; a healer with a healer cat.Â
Joshua was so immersed with Crowâs abilities, that the sound of the door opening and closing hadnât caught his attention. It isnât until he feels movement at the end of the bed that his head shoots up to see you with the biggest grin on your face.
âWhat did I tell you?â
âRegarding?â Joshua asks, confused as to why you are looking at him with such glee.
âI told you Iâd make him a great healer!â You cheered enthusiastically. âLook at you! I donât think Iâve ever seen you look as comfortable as you do right now.â
âYouâve trained him well.â He continues to pet Crow, moving his fingers down to scratch under his neck. âHowever, I do believe you said heâd be the best healer Iâd ever seen. Iâll admit I stand corrected, for he may even be a better healer than you.â He jests, knowing itâll rile you up.
You gawked at him, âIf he wasnât lying on your chest right now, Iâd make you take that back.â
âYou can remove him if youâd like. Iâd like to see what youâd do.â He draws out lewdly, loving how you are reacting to his quips.Â
âWhatever, you perv.â You laughed, moving to crawl beside him. You had gently wrapped an arm across him, right behind where Crow lays. Your head is now beside his and he canât help himself as he leans in to kiss you. The two of you stay like that for a while, enjoying the tranquility of the moment before the three of you prepare to experience the rough world out there.Â
Him, his lady, and their cat.

Where you decide to play with fire.

âMmh⊠âShuaâŠâ
Your neck craned, leaning back into him. Wet, open-mouthed kisses trailed over your exposed skin, hot breath raising goosebumps in their wake⊠You were laid out open for him, without any choice but to allow him to fondle you as he wished.
âŠYet, his touch was so gentle.Â
With one arm splayed across your torso to keep you steady against him, the other caressed your naked body, roaming around your skin with feather-light touches as if to ease you into it. He knew exactly what you craved, exactly the sort of things to bring you the pleasure he had always known you deserved. Being cradled in his arms like this was more than you could wish for. You could feel vulnerable, but more than that, you felt⊠safe.
âHow beautiful you are, my love,â he murmured.
His voice rang soft and comforting against your ear.
âA most heavenly demise; one that I would take, and gladly accept for my own. My darling, I could ravish you.â
Despite the moan that edged from your lips as his hand slid deftly between your thighs, his words brought upon you a certain sense of giddiness. Your head tilted back, and you laughed softly through your nose, eyes half-lidded to chase his lips for a kissânaturally, it was one that he would never deny you of.
âSuch words, â you whispered with a playful roll of your eyes. Your own hand reached up to run through his locks, and when your eyes met, the sheer endearment that had settled in his features was enough to have you drawing a breath.
Again he nudged at you with the tip of his nose, ghosting a kiss, breathing out a laugh to match your own. When he spoke next, there was a teasing lilt to his voiceâa grin that you would have heard, had you not been seeing it in front of you in that moment.
â Ah, but were they not true, my lady, you know well that I wouldnât have spoken.â
âHmm? Then, by your words⊠You would spoil me for your own, Your Grace?â
He nuzzled against your cheek, thumbing the plush of your inner thigh.
âAs I have, I will do.â
Simple words.
Simple, yet, from him, they proved enough.Â
Your hand moved from his hair to his cheek, coaxing from him yet another kiss. This time, you allowed him to part your legs.
âAnd as I have ever done, I would surrender myself to you, body and soul,â you murmured. Your lips brushed against his as you spoke, the proximity of you both nearly as intoxicating as the anticipation of what he would give you. âYou know that you have me, Joshua. It is I who should be thanking the heavens for the home that I have found in your heart.â
A slow breath fell from his lips, fingers dipping downwards to gather the slick between your folds. The sound of itâsuch obvious arousal as the squelch of your wetness became a noise that he was drawn toâcaused your cheeks to flush. It was unimaginable to you how easily you had submitted to his touch, legs spreading wider, eyes drawn to the sight of his hand at your core. Unbecoming of a lady, one would think; yet Joshua would always call you otherwise.
âPerfect,â he sighed.
A word that he reserved always for you.
Yet even as he said that, the amusement in his voice didnât quite seem to waver.Â
âBut you would dare to speak of my words when you could tell me such beautiful things?â he shook his head. âYou are a vixen, my lady. I would scarcely be able to keep myself in check should you speak another word.â
Your breathing turned shallow.
His finger dragged upwards, spreading your slick all over your folds, before sliding back down to catch as much as you would leak. He circled your entrance, never quite pushing in, before repeating the motions and moving up once more.
Your clit was throbbing.
He would tease; he always wouldâlips pressed back against your ear, breath hot against your skin to have you shiver in his hold. He wouldnât give you attention where you needed it the most, always keen on having you thrashing around in his arms before indulging.
For him to speak of such manners?
You could nearly scoff.
âJoshua, when have you ever?â
Your words were not a complaint, but a mere fact.Â
He chuckled at that, a low rumble directly into your ear before darting his tongue out to give it a tentative lick.
âBut, my loveâŠâ
His hand drew out from between your legs, trailing up over your abdomen in a mesmerizing yet excruciatingly slow motion. Your hips bucked, but to no avail; he would allow no chasing the very pleasure that he had almost just given you.
And then you saw it.
You felt it.
The way the tips of his fingers would glow bright like burning ember, heat emanating off of his hand and directly onto your body.
You gasped, your body arching upwards off of him.
âYou like it.â
It was his statement that, this time, proved nothing but a fact.
Your lips parted as you drew in a shaky breath, watching as his hand moved across you.
The pain was there, undeniablyâsuch raw heat was searing.
Yet, Joshua was gentle.
Sparks of his flames would skim all over your skin, hand never staying in one place, almost as if to cover you entirely with his heatâat least as much as he could. Everywhere he moved, his touch was hot, almost searing, sliding up and down every curve of your body. He left a trail behind, the heat of it bubbling a moan from your throatâa beautiful streak of red, nearly glowing against your flesh.
And every essence of him exuded warmth.
A warmth that you were comfortable with.
A warmth he knew you loved.
Perhaps, being with him had always amounted to thatâthe flames had never scared you. You thrived within them; the home that you had found burned brighter than you could have ever longed for, and there was nothing you would give to change it.
Now, too, was no exception.
âJoshuaâŠâ you gasped out his name, feeling both his hands at work on you this time, grasping your breasts, kneading the flesh in a way that made him sigh against the side of your cheek. And it was all the reply you would get before his thumbs rubbed against your hardened nubs, the heat from his touch making you jolt in surprise.
Slowly, as if to soothe, he turned his head to bring you into a tender kiss.
Velvet lips moved against yours in that loving manner that made you melt, your fingers slowly moving back into his hair as if to pull him closer to youâ closer to you. Because when he kissed you like this, you wished that he would never stop. That time would stop. That this moment could last forever, and he would be with you.
It worked to distract you, his fingers never stopping. He toyed with your nipplesârubbed and pulled, circled around, just in that way he knew you liked best. He would smile into the kiss every time he swallowed a moanâhe knew that he was rendering your breasts sensitive, and swollen, and used, yet he would keep pulling you back onto his lips, sweetly taking your mind off of that slight sting of pain you would feel from him.
And then his hand moved downwards.
This time he pulled away from the kiss, a satisfied smile ghosting his features as he shifted to rest on your shoulder in favor of watching.
Your breath hitched.Â
You felt almost feverish, the rush of anticipation having you lightheaded until finallyâ finallyâ
âJoshua!â
A cry of his name left your lips as he dipped between your legs, easily making contact with your needy, dripping folds.
The sensation made you shudder.
His fingers slid again through your folds, barely brushing against your clit, allowing that glowing, red heat to radiate against it in a way that had your eyes squeezing shut.
â Breathe, my love,â he whispered. âI have you. I always have you.â
There was a question in his movements.
His head raised to look at you, chaste kiss placed on your lips, hand lifting off of your mound tentatively.
A raspy moan of encouragement was all that you could offer to him, weakly nodding your head, but it was enough.
âThatâs my good girl.â
He didnât give you time to dwell on it any longerâ
His fingers slipped inside you, heated touch dipping into your gummy walls, your eyes rolling back into your head.
âOh!â you cried; a lack of coherency taking over your tongue as you tried, and failed, to properly sound out his name.
Your hands reached to grip at the sheets, at his body, anything â
Joshua continued to move his fingers.
In and out, in and out. Slowly; allowing you to get used to the sensation, yet fast enough to focus on the pleasure it brought. Soft whispers of sweet nothings into your ear had you arching your back, pushing your hips into his hand. He continued to thrustâmatching your pace, curling upwards to hit that spot with an added intensity that had you gasping.
âBeautiful,â he murmured, voice almost sounding like a sigh. âLift your hips, my love, just like that. Such a perfect, wonderful girl.â
Your lower lip trembled, tears pricking at your eyes. And the warm lamplight illuminating the room fluttered, and the added light from his flames projecting your silhouettes on the wall in a display of passion.
âJ- JoshuaâŠâÂ
You swallowed thickly, choking out a moan.
His thumb shifted to rub against your clit, side to side, a collective pace that matched his thrusts.
Always in the very way that pleasured you.
Always for you.
âHere, my lady?â he smiled as you continued to buck against him. âThis spot, right here? Should IâŠâ
Another cry from your lips, head shaking back and forth at your loss of proper words to convey.
The knot in your stomach coiled unbearably tightly, a final cry tearing free from your throat;
âPlease, Your Grace, Iâmâ!â
His fingers pulled out, hand lifting, the glow of his flames dissipating into blue specks of aether that you knew all too well.
Nothing.
Only a gasp.
Your eyes widened and your hips bucked up, walls clenching around nothing as you cried out in protest.
âJoshua!â
You turned to him, aghast, continuing the rhythmic flutter of your cunt as the feeling of your orgasm quickly faded away.
And he smiled.
Still with the audacity to be soft, still with the audacity to look so endearing, he gently pushed you down onto the bed, figure looming over you as you caught your breath.
âPlease, my darling, I said I would ravish you, did I not?â
He looked pleased with himself, his voice a melodious hum.
Yet his head lowered, resting against yours. You could feel the flutter of his eyelashesâa different form of a kiss, you recalled. And it was one that he would often use with you to provide comfort.
âYou are a tease, Lord Rosfield!â you huffed.
He nuzzled your nose with a soft laugh.
âOnly because I couldnât possibly be done with you yet.â

Joshua sought comfort in youâŠ

fluff
summary: Joshua had a nightmare and went to you for comfortâŠ

â
The moonlight seeped through the open window, curtains blowing gently in the night wind. You laid awake yet again, you could never sleep.
A soft sigh escaped your lips as you gazed at the moon which shone so bright outside. A quiet night, but peaceful.
Knock, Knock, Knock
Three quiet knocks placed themselves at your door, as if the person knocking was doing so cautiously. Confused you sat up, removing the covers.
At this hour?
You thought as your feet placed on the floor. With a few strides you arrived at the door, taking a deep breath as if you were preparing for the worst. You always seemed to do that.
You grabbed onto the cold, metal door knob and gently turned it.
ââŠJoshua?â
You spoke confused yet softly, your eyes landing upon familiar blue ones.
ââŠMy lady, forgive me for the disturbance.â
Joshua appeared nervous, almost like he was ashamed.
âNo no, itâs alright I hadnât slept yet.â
You gave him a soft reassuring smile. You felt the need to calm his nerves, even though you doubted your ability to do so.
The soft spoken man gave you a sheepish smile.
âIf you do not mindâŠâ
Joshua fidgeted his fingers, though hard to notice you did immediately.
âMay I enter, my lady?â
His voice and expression were hesitant, he was afraid of your rejection.
With a soft reassuring smile you nodded and opened the door wider for him to enter.
He nodded in return, a small thank you escaping the young lordâs lips.
The small click of the door shutting and locking, the gentle flap of the curtains, the synchronic breathing of the two became the only sounds.
A comfortable silence fallen upon the two. The lordâs uncommon awkward gaze looking to the side.
âIs everything alright Joshua?â
Your soft voice broke the silence, making his eyes fall upon yours. You could swear you noticed a hint of red on his ears, but maybe it was the lighting playing tricks on you.
âYou were goneâŠI had lost youâŠâ
A sudden pained voice emitted from Joshua. This had caused you to inch forward towards him.
Before you could speak he had started again, âI-âŠI cannotâŠâ
Your eyes widened slightly as you noticed the young lord getting choked up.
âoh JoshuaâŠâ
You reached forward, wrapping your arms around him in a protective embrace.
âYou could never lose me JoshuaâŠI will not stray, ever.â
You reassured him, gently caressing his hair.
âMy apologiesâŠâ
His voice ached with unshed tears.
âYou have nothing to be sorry forâŠâ
Joshuaâs head dipped and buried itself into the crook of your neck. A wet spot formed which practically broke your heart.
âI love you, I will stand by your side for as long as youâll have me, my lord.â
A soft kiss planted onto the side of his head, your touch soothing him.
âI love you too, more than anythingâ

summary: Joshua searched for you, the dominant of Leviathan, his love.

â
Joshua had travelled to a distant village, one where the dominant of leviathan was said to be spotted.
could it beâŠ? this timeâŠ
Joshua only hoped. After all the leads he had followed to no avail, he was growing tired. He was losing hopeâŠbut no he couldnât give up, not ever.
If there was even a tiny chance he could see his love again, he would take it.
He had been searching secretly in the shadows through the village, still he couldnât find a thing. Finally he had ended up in a secluded spot, somewhere by the shore.
A defeated sigh escaped his lips.
could this be it? would he never find his love again?
âDonât take another step.â
Your sharp tone caught the man off guard. The side of your sword aligned with his neck.
You werenât stupid, you had noticed the unfamiliar presence snooping around.
âm-my ladyâŠplease-â
The young lord tensed up as your angry tone cut him off.
âWho are you and what do you want?!â
Your gaze burned through the back of his head.
âYou mistake me my lady!â
He spoke nervously his hands up in surrender even though his back was faced to you.
âThen speak.â
A sigh of relief escaped the man as you lowered your sword. He finally turned to face youâŠ
noâŠnoâŠnoâŠit couldnât be? it canât beâŠ?
Your cold composure faltered, eyes widening at the sight of him.
His eyes softened, a warm smile appearing on his lips.
âit truly is youâŠâ
Joshua breathed, âWhen I heard word of the dominant of LeviathanâŠI knewâŠI knew it would be youâŠâ
You felt as if your world had regained color, as if your will had returned.
âJoshuaâŠâ
You let out a shakey exhale. You hadnât even noticed how much you were shaking, the sword gripped in your hand suddenly fell to the floor. A loud clang echoed which soon mixed with your footsteps, you ran to his arms.
The familiar scent hit you has your arms tightened around him.
ââŠI thought iâd never see you again.â
His soft voice spoke into you as he held you closely. He kissed the top of your head.
You tried to respond, but only got choked up. Your arms tightened around him and you buried your face into his neck.
You felt alive againâŠ

summary: Joshua attempts to comfort you on your periodâŠ
a/n: sadly my period JUST started so instead of sulking iâm writing !! this was written in haste so forgive me if itâs not all that. not proof read again, iâm in too much pain to care.

â
You laid, curled up in a ball at your chambers in the hideaway. Your arms were pressed tightly against your stomach. Low groans escaping your lips ever so often. You had only hoped they would end, but no these period cramps never did.
It was the first day of your period and you were stuck in your quarters, balled up on your bed. You hadnât left your room all morning, which was not common for you. The others figured you were still resting, even though you almost never slept in.
You were always a strong warrior, not one to waste any time. Always the first one up and ready. Not many focused on your lack of presence, but Joshua.
He had contemplated checking on you, but his nerves had gotten the best of him. He stood leaning against the railing of the deck, pondering.
âIs something bothering you, Joshua?â
A voice emitted from behind Joshua, making him turn.
âhmâŠIâm simply lost in thought.â
Joshua gave a soft reassuring smile, which the man chuckled at.
âIf you are so concerned, you can go check up on her.â
âCliveâŠi-itâs notâŠâ
A light pink tint appeared on Joshuaâs cheeks from his brotherâs words. Of course he could figure out what was wrong.
A light chuckle left Clive as he watched Joshuaâs reaction.
âThereâs no point in losing your mind over something so simple, go see her.â
Clive nudged Joshua as he gave a knowing smirk, to which Joshua sighed at, he couldnât deny his brotherâs words.
âIâŠsuppose you are rightâŠâ
Joshua nervously admitted, what was the harm
in going to check up on you?
Clive lightly pushed Joshua, as if he wanted to hurry him.
âYes, yes Iâm going!â
Joshua jokingly rolled his eyes, and began to walk in the direction of your quarters. He couldnât help but nervously fidget as he did.
Why was he so nervousâŠitâs not like this was the first time heâd be in your chambersâŠ
Joshua made his way to your room, when he finally did he hesitated. Taking a deep breath he raised his hand to knock.
Knock, Knock, Knock
Three knocks was heard from your door, to which you groaned. You didnât want to get up and open the door, actually you didnât want to move at all.
Reluctantly you raised your voice, âWho is it?â you called out in a tired tone.
âMy lady, itâs Joshua. I only wanted to check up on you, if you wish for me to leave I shall.â
The moment you heard Joshuaâs voice you recognized it, you hurriedly sat up.
shit.
You didnât want him to see you like this. All curled up in pain, you seemed a mess, weak. You felt pathetic.
Nonetheless you stood up, hurried to the door and opened it. You always wanted to be around him, your condition wasnât going to stop that.
âJoshua,â You breathed and gave him a soft weak smile.
âis something the matter?â
Joshua asked, immediately noticing your weariness.
You didnât say anything instead suddenly hugged him, burying your head in his chest. He hesitated, only out of surprise. His arms wrapped around you in a gentle warm embrace.
âMy lady, are you alright?â
He spoke softly, his voice like a warm blanket.
âCan you justâŠstay with me?â
You requested hesitantly, as if you were afraid of his rejection.
âOf course, anything you wishâŠâ
Joshua spoke, a warm smile on his lips. You looked up at him, getting comforted just by the sight of him. You noticed quickly how Joshuaâs face was completely red, he was a blushing mess.
A quiet chuckle left your mouth as you gently pulled away from him, your hand taking hold of his. You pulled him into the room, closing the door behind him.
âWill you lay with me?â
You asked him, though you were partially toying with him, you could tell how flustered he already was.
He only nodded, too embarrassed to say yes. His reaction made you laugh as you pulled him closer to you, so you both could get on bed.
As you laid down he followed, wrapping his arms around you in an almost protective embrace. Your stomach was pressed up against his, you held onto him like he was your lifeline.
âThank you Joshua, for being here.â
You muttered quietly into his chest. A gentle kiss was planted onto your head.
âYou need not thank me, I will always be hereâŠâ
You hummed silently in response, cuddling him as your eyes fluttered shut.
âAre you in pain?â
His voice quietly asked.
âmmâŠItâs justâŠmy period.â
You groaned, he gently caressed your back.
âYou being hereâŠis more than enough.â
You left a gentle kiss on his chest, snuggling deeper.
âThen know this, I shall always be by your side.â

"What are we? We are Dominants. That is our fate."
EIGHT EIKONS FOR EIGHT ELEMENTS: Fire Unforgiving (Phoenix & The Twin Flame, Ifrit) / Ice Unfeeling (Shiva) / Levin Untamed (Ramuh) / Gales Unrelenting (Garuda) / Earth Unyielding (Titan) / Light Undying (Bahamut) / Darkness Unending (Odin) + Leviathan the Lost (part i)
Okay everybody listen up! I haven't found most of the official ship names and I'm too lazy to continue scouring Tumblr, so I need to compile a list myself! Reblog with your preferred ship name for any given ship not listed and/or challenge one another to single combat until we come to a consensus on conflicting names for the same ship!
My contribution:
PhoenixFlare - Joshua x Dion (Phoenix x Bahamut)
FlareKnight - Dion x Terence
PhoenixFlareKnight - Joshua x Dion x Terence
FrostFire - Jill x Clive (Shiva x Ifrit)
FireBolt - Clive x Cid (Ifrit x Ramuh)
StoneStorm - Hugo x Benedicta (Titan/Garuda)
I have no other ships off the top of my head but Barnabas/Odin should probably be Dark-something.
I'll honestly also accept Flame for Clive, but is it too close to Flare? Idk. Opinions?
SOMEONE DREW IT YES

So like⊠did they actually check that Dion could still prime before pulling that little stunt or
