Vague Jjk spoilers
Low key somebody already placed a curse on my boy Itadori cause tell me why everytime someone he loves dies he has a front row seat š. Like the only person that didnāt lock eyes with him as they died is gojo and he still watched it play out right infront of him in real time knowing once again that no matter what he does he will be too late. Like gege let my boy breathe šššš. Yuuji can start a collection of last words at this point.
Something I love, and this is by no means a new or unpopular observation, is that Nanami really is a parental figure to Yuuji more so than he was a teacher or mentor. And not to say that Yuuji didnāt learn anything by working with Nanami or that Nanami is a bad teacher his work with Ino obviously disagrees with that. But itās more so that he recognized that Yuuji didnāt need a teacher in that time he needed someone to reassure him that his being alive isnāt a bad thing, to reinforce that he is someone worth protecting, that he is a child and it doesnāt matter how strong he is or the destiny set out for him he is a child and in these moments they have together Nanami will do his very best to keep him safe.
During their time together Yuuji doesnāt learn any new techniques or learn how to get rid of divergent fist or even better control his cursed energy. What he does learn is that after 2 of the most devastating moments in his life there was someone he could turn too someone who showed him comfort, an adult that taught he being treated like a child does not mean you are stupid or weak. Nanami tells him straight up āit is not a crime to be a childā and thatās not something you hear a lot from these genre of shows were you have kids fighting all the wars. To me this is only matched by Reigenās speech to mob that heās not responsible for the adults around him and itās okay to run.
Yuuji might not have improved his fighting style in those months with Nanami, he may have not technically advanced as a jujutsu sorcerer but he was quietly reassured of his worth as a person independent of his worth as a sorcerer. Yuuji wants to honor his grandfather and that takes the shape of wanting to save everyone and Nanami simply tells him that he should be part of that everyone too. That he is worthy of being saved, of being protected. And you can tell when Yuuji rejoins the others thereās a marked difference to how he approaches curses and transfigured humans and people he couldnāt save.
Nanami took this unmoored child, who just came back from the dead and is being hidden away from all his friends to avoid being killed again and decided he didnāt need a teacher, or a sorcerer. He needed a parent and he tried to offer that comfort as best he could. And maybe it wasnāt perfect but he tried.
Nobara, Yuuji and Megumi all, I feel, represent three different ends of the morally good spectrum and I just think that is so intriguing . Like Yuuji is a bleeding heart, Megumi is a tsundere and Nobara is dangerously close to apathetic. I could write essays about their moral inclinations and how fascinating they are. Especially Nobara who, and this may be an unpopular opinion and some of yāall are not ready to hear, of the trio is the most like Gojo. Come on they are practically the same person especially when he was younger. And in this essay I will-
But you know the thing is Yuuji and Megumi work because they are different in all the ways that matter they balance each other out and Yuuji and Nobara are such good friends because they are the same in all the right ways. But Nobara and Megumi never really find theirs footing as a duo because they are alike in all the wrong ones. And thereās just this huge space that exists where 2 used to be 3 in their friendship that doesnāt exist in any yuuji combination. Theyāve known each other months compared to the couple of weeks they knew Yuji Nobara and Megumiās friendship is soooooo interesting and should have been explored more.
JJK spoilers********
Gege wonāt stop till itās just Sukuna and Yuji left huh?
I donāt know how to explain it but JJK AO3 is not a conducive habitat for the fanfic girlies.
Something I personally love in JJK is Gege staying committed to jumping dudes. Like not once has anybody tried to go out of their way to fight a villain alone (except gojo but he is Godās exception) because of honor or some kind of code or strength test (except nanami but thatās more because they are kids and honestly if they already in the fight and helping/holding their own heās not gonna tell them to go home). Yuuji only fights alone when he has no other option too or because he is soooo desperately scared of anyone else getting hurt because of him but despite that he will still gladly pair up with anybody that comes to help. I think this is the best way to deal with antagonists that have been built up as being this all mighty force of nature like Sukuna, without unreasonable power ups or ass pulls. Just have six of those dudes jump him. Like throw everything you have at him, donāt play fair, donāt fight with āhonorā just take that mfer down by any means necessary.
Something about Yuta being one of the strongest not because he has some fancy technique like gojo and yuki or because he is a literal walking army like geto or not even because heās just so masterful of everything jujutsu like sukuna.
No heās one of the strongest simply because he has the power to overwhelm. He has nearly bottomless pits of cursed energy, throw anything you want at him and he will simply outlast and overwhelm.
It really tickles my brain.
I think of any jjk character in terms of the way their power works Yuta is the most comparable to a natural disaster. No finesse, little skill, just the overwhelming destructive power of pure nature/curse energy
Hello.....If you don't mind me asking, can I ask, what are your top 7 favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series) and your top 7 favorite (fictional) characters from any media ? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this questions before......
Hello!!!
Sorry about the late response I usually use tumblr on my phone but i was having a hard time typing something so long so itās taken me a few tries.Ā
Thanks for being my first ask! I would love to answer your question.
Deciding on my favorite all time characters was so much harder than I thought it would be. I think itās because the character exists so thoroughly in their own world to me that itās hard to stack them against each other. But Iāll do my best!
Iām going to split my answer between your two asks because I donāt want the response to be too long. Also, forgive me for I cannot spell and punctuation is my natural enemy.Ā
My Favorite Characters (as of right now)
Jason Todd a.k.a the Red Hood - Batman/ Red Hood Comics
This is pretty simple actually Iāve been obsessed with him since I watched Under the Redhood the animated movie and then went on to consume so much content about him. I think he is if not my most favorite character, then at least my most consistent character (I jump from hyperfixation to hyper fixation alot) So yeah heās great. Heās very much a shining example of characters I tend to gravitate to in media.Ā
Kugasaki Nobara - Jujustu Kaisen
Justice for my girl Nobara. I consume quite a bit of media alot of which you could argue was originally geared towards menand so female characters are usually not the best or most fleshed out and so rarely become my favs which is why I hold the ones that do so close to my heart. Nobara is like no other female protag Iāve seen in shonen, sheās allowed to be so much sheās so mean and so forthright and sheās silly sheās a non-hypersexualized comedic relief character and thatās so hard to get with female characters that isnt just them beating up the main character who just lets them. Donāt get me wrong sheās mean to yuuji but in the way we are all mean to our best friends. Her moral philosophy is one of my favorites in the show, shes so complex and so fun and here powers are so interesting. I wish more would be done with her.
Ice Bear - We Bare BearsĀ
I donāt really have much to say here. Ice Bearās just a cool dude.
Reigen Arataka - Mob PsychoĀ 100
This is very basic of me but I love Reigen so much. I love mob to but Reigen just slightly edges him out because of his sheer insanity. The way Reigen is animated is so god he can never just do one action heās so hyper and heās such a bullshitter I love him. But really I feel like we never really get these kinds ofĀ stories with āsenseiā like characters. Cause in the beginning Heās presented to us as Mobās master but itās so obvious that heās a con man but the thing is he still gives really good advice and in his own way he is genuinely really helping people. And he gives the single most best piece of advice to a teenage mc that Iāve ever seen. Like how often to you hear the master character tell their pupil that the right thing to do is runaway. That he shouldn't be responsible for fixing the messes of adults, heās a child and should be allowed to be a child that all the villains are adults and itās frankly pathetic that they are trying to fight actual children. Reigen simply is him and he grows so much in the way he treats Mob. Itās hard not to love him. Also he has no friends his own age so I feel bad for him.Ā
The Archangel Michael - Supernatural
Thereās not much to say here. He has like 20 minutes of screen time across 15 seasons, but the ways in which I am unwell about him are limitless. Heās my poor little meow meow I will defend him to my dying day.Ā
Honorable mentions to those I donāt really think about often, and like more in the context of a dynamic, but when I do I go on an absolutely fanfic fuelled mania.Ā
Erwin Smith (AOT) - There is no canon evidence for this whatsoever but he strikes me as a man that is just a little too much like his mother (unhinged). This is solely based on a specific fic series but the ways in which I am unwell about this trope has implanted unto him. Also love his dynamic with Levi
Robb Stark (GOT)- Honestly I cried about the red wedding for 5 days straight and yeah I like reading about his dynmaic with Jon.Ā
Shinsou and Aizawa (MHA) -Ā cheating, but I like them as a dynamic and i flip flop between who I like better, especially in fics where Shinsou isnāt just a vehicle for trauma.
Mihawk and Shanks (OP) - We donāt really know alot about either, though Shanks has gotten a bit more fleshed out recently. I think if we ever find out more about Mihawk he would ascend to one of my favorite characters but right now all Ireally have are headcanons. Also I love Shanks I love seeing him on screen I find him such a fun but tragic character and i dont really know why but yeah he cares so much heās like a slightly more weighed down luffy whatās not to love?
And finally the ogs
Zoro (OP) - I was so obsessed with him when I first started reading one piece. Love him and Luffy
Nico di angelo (PJO/HOO)Ā - I think mostly Iāve outgrown Percy Jackson but what kind of person would I be if I didnāt give love to the ogs.
and so here's my list of favorite characters very convoluted I know. I'll probably respond to the second half of your question tomorrow because this kind of wiped me. š
But thanks so much for the ask! this was fun
Yuuji Itadori has never had a life that was his own. He belongs to everyone but himself. Whether for the sorcerers, the curses and Kenjaku, the coaches at his school or even his grandfather he is a slave to their expectations. He is either a tool to be used or a weapon to be sharpened
He was born unnatural there has never been a moment his life was his own.
Itās kind of interesting and fucked up that the only person thatās never expected anything of him is Sukuna.
