thoughts on kafkastelle 🧐

oh i LOVE their dynamic . or at least the one i’ve made in my head.

kafka using stelle for her own goals and stelle allowing herself to be used because of stelle’s emotional dependency on kafka .

stelle genuinely loving and caring for kafka because kafka is the only one who knows what stelle was like before she lost her memories. stelle remembering kafka’s face and knowing that if she remembers her, then she must’ve been important. and so she loves and trusts her almost unconditionally. because what else of her past remains?

stelle being clingy and kafka knowing that stelle has abandonment issues (because of her) and using that to her advantage. kafka being kind to stelle when kafka needs something; kafka giving stelle just enough to keep her coming back every time.

“she used to be nice” maybe yearning for something in the past that she had with kafka … being so blinded by faint traces of the past that she can’t see that the kafka that stands in front of her is different than the one she maybe once knew. stelle doesn’t need kafka to put the blinders over her eyes, stelle does it herself willingly.

Blows my mind that some people will say Kafka and Stelle's relationship is like one of a mother and child when you literally have them sending messages like these to each other.

Like my dude if a girl is sending a pic of her bazoongas to another girl I'm pretty sure there's enough subtext to guess the nature of their relationship.

My brain decided to remember something from the very beginning of the game and realize it's actually very important.

During the intro sequence Kafka keeps saying "Listen" before some important things regarding our future, and these things are on point, it's basically the whole plot of the game

And let's remember a little achievement

This achievement is specifically for the Trailblazer

So it might be that Kafka put a sort of mind control on us, not fully "dominating" us as we still have some free will but an order that we followed : starting our journey

And for the first time "you're not sure if you should trust me" all other trailblazers are pretty aggressive towards the stellarons Hunters but the only time the Trailblazer was actually aggressive was during the "fight" against Kafka, where they didn't exactly have a choice.

During the interrogation it was quite the normal conversation, no sassy comebacks, no mean comments, just a conversation about "why", which is quite reasonable considering what happened.

And then there is this sentence

"But you know all about that already, don't you [Trailblazer]"

This the first time we, the players, as well as the Express crew see Kafka's "Domination" ability (fully), but not for the Trailblazer, they already know what it is and what it does.

How could they know without them being affected by it before ?

TL;DR : the trailblazer were "dominated" (not fully) by Kafka before, and they might still be under the influence of this ability throughout the game.

Thinking about Kafka’s companion mission. She was so excited to play the truth and lies game. We the player have so many evocative and lore-relevant questions we can ask her, and then her questions are literally like “do u like me?...” She’s INSECURE now that Stelle has lost her memories and is likely being fed the idea that the stellaron hunters are bad guys that she should stay away from. Kafka can’t help but worry that Stelle hates her now. But she also can’t bring herself to just ask the damn question outright, so she does it under the guise of a game. And she's confident she’ll know which of Stelle’s answers is true bc Stelle is a shit liar (at least my version of her is).

I just can't get over how clearly happy Kafka was to see Stelle on the Luofu. And don't even get me STARTED on the text messages she sends if you pull her... They're in love, your honor
