The Anti-War Message of the King's Man

Because while 'the King's Man' is very much an 'Anti-War' Movie, the overarching conflict and its resolution clash jarringly with the ultimate theme of the film, and in-universe, the very reason why Kingsman was formed in the first place.

King's Man's 'Anti-War' Message -

There is nothing glamorous about War and the film does not shy away from showing how stupid and futile War is. The film, in fact, does an exceptional job at depicting the worst elements of war by focusing on its effect on the victims, rather than on those participating in the War.

Concentration Camps, civilian deaths, collateral damage, and deaths in the family. By focusing on these aspects of War the film allows the audience to experience War as either a nameless statistic or as someone powerless in the face of forces beyond our control. This is an essential element that makes the audience root for the Kingsmen as the Heroes of the film. An organization that fights for the people instead of the politician.

However, the effect of the Anti-War message gets cut in half when the audience is aware that the War was caused by outside manipulation. Namely, the big bad guy manipulating Personalities, and Powers, into a War that the Bad Guy is directing from the shadows. Furthermore, the resolution for the plot's conflict is to drag the United States into a war the US had nothing to do with in the first place.

The only answer to war is not peace, but dragging more innocents into the war. That is the signature military tactic of the British Empire if one thinks about it.

The message would be better served if the War was something that was out of the Heroes' and the Villains' control. Which would mean that both the Kingsmen and their opponents were simply taking advantage of the War to further their individual goals. War is a foolish endeavor, and the blame should not be taken away from the ruling powers the film touts as responsible for the events that occur in the film.

Ultimately, the King's Man is a strong addition to the Kingsman universe, outside of the confused 'Anti-War' sentiment the film is focusing on.
