if i see one more article, post, or news anchor talking about how joe biden is old, i'm putting my fist through a window. i feel like i've gone through the fucking looking glass.

Ok so my kid had an ear infection, right? As kids often do.
The doctor scraped out a bit of earwax to have a better look inside.
I was sent a bill for $200 PER EAR for this 5 second procedure which I did not give permission for them to do.
That was key- they did not ASK me if they could do this "procedure". And, as I OWN a medical practice (it's me. The medical practice is me, sitting in my house on video calls) I knew to call them when this bill came in to be like "You did not obtain informed consent for this procedure, and it was not en emergency procedure. You had full ability to gain my consent and didn't. I'm not paying."
And the massive hospital who owned the bill said "yuh-huh you do have to pay."
And I said "I own a practice. I know these laws. I do not owe you money for this."
And they conducted an "internal review" and SURPRISE! Decided I totally owed them money and they had never done anything wrong ever.
And so I called my state's Attorney General office, and explained the situation because, as I mentioned, I know the law. The AG got in touch within a couple days to say they were taking the case and would send the massive hospital conglomerate a knock it off, guys letter.
Lo and Behold, today I have a letter where said hospital graciously has agreed to forfeit the payment.
"How not to get screwed over by companies" should be part of civics class.
Know your rights and know who to call when they're infringed on. This whole process cost me $0 and honestly less effort than I would have expected.
May this knowledge find its way to someone else who can use it.

i HATE how tiktok is reducing ethel cain and preachers daughter to cannibalism. preachers daughter dissects real issues of religious trauma, inter generational trauma, abandonment, etc etc - cannibalism is not the main aspect of the album, nor is it that of ethel’s story.
stop clinging on to cannibalism as a metaphor for love when there are so many other aspects of hayden’s lyricism and art that are so much more complex and profound.
I find vampires that live comfortably off animal blood to be so eye-rolling. You're taking away the fundamental tension of the concept! They're killers, even if they don't want to be. They have a terrible urge that must be satisfied.
A vampire that feasts on animals should, at the very least, be unhappy about it. Eating animals instead of humans should be heroic act of self-denial, a diminishment, a course of last resort.
When I see a scene of a vampire taking down a deer and then just being normal afterward, I get sad, because where's my juicy internal conflict gone?
just started thinking about modern black brothers with a wider age gap, maybe ten years in between.
sirius being thrust with raising regulus, helping him with everything and trying to lure him away from their parents beliefs, doing his best to make him kind and good. but he, himself, doesn't know how to do that, he's still a child, but he tries and tries.
regulus seeing him more like a parent figure than anyone else. knowing that being under his mother's fist and father's indifference is regular, just like being with sirius is safe, and warm, and nice.
it's not always good, they are different in so many ways, and in making regulus like himself, sirius sees that he's putting a target on his little brother's back. he doesn't know how to fix it and it pains him, but he can't let his brother become like his parents. it's torture.
then sirius has to go away for college, and it's hell for both of them.
sirius misses so many birthdays and special occasions, and regulus is nothing but a kid still, so his parents can still get their claws on him. sirius has to watch how his little brother, that he has raised, is pitied against him, and in trying to search for comfort in that horrible house, is turning into what his parents want to.
and regulus is just doing what he can, every birthday wish goes to begging for sirius to come home and take him away, every punishment leaves him missing the warmth his big brother used to provide.
it's still not enough, regulus just searches and searches for the same sense of comfort in the dark walls of grimauld place, and finds a cheap copy of it when his mother praises him whenever he does anything she approves. it's not the same, but it's better than nothing so he keeps doing it and doing it until he loses everything his brother taught him, and therefore, loses himself.
and sirius has to watch it firsthand, how the little baby he used to feed, bath, teach and take to sleep, is no longer his.
so he runs away, because seeing it just hurts too much.
I think what might be the funniest thing about this whole savemyboycole situation, apart from it turning into a copypasta, is that Cole still isnt, like, canonically gay. Its all still subtextual. Sure that subtext is about as subtle as a fire alarm, but there has never been any explicit confirmations that Cole and Geo are canon.
Like, most of the time homophobes go the route of simply denying or ignoring the subtext (as theyve apparently been doing for a decade, if they think Cole has been straight this whole time). But Cole and Geo are so incredibly gay that even the homophobes cant deny it. Im obsessed. I love it here.

on a lighter topic. I have just been wondering why there is such little wlw art in the ninjago fandom compared to the rest. Yeah there aren’t so many girls, but people also find the most random and insignificant male characters to ship. Gender bent art of male characters exists and is cool, but if you want yuri cant you draw the canonically female characters?? Are people just bad at characterizing them in their heads? The amount of “ceo/literally/number one fan of cole/kai/zane/lloyd” accounts iv seen across so many platforms and not a single nya one. Claiming a character for only yourself is a bit odd and a whole different story, but in the context of this why is nobody “obsessing” over nya??
Generally, she is only appreciated in the context of a romantic relationship. ( coff coff jaya. btw it makes no sense to hate nya bcs of jaya when jay was the one who wanted them to get together???)
