I started LOTM and so far I’m in 5 chapters so this one guy went from

-Grocery shopping (with a gun)

-Nearly pulled said gun on a tarot card reader

-attempt a ticket-back-home ritual with said groceries

-Trick some unsuspecting people into thinking he’s some ooo mysterious powerful figure

In one morning.

Update on LOTM progress

I finally got to the miserable wretches part. It hits hard. Please. Please no one die after this. (Wishful thinking)

I got to the Qilangos assassination plan-grand ball arc and as I was thinking about how this very haphazard attack plan that half relied on luck and half relied on broken telephone communication was the one that succeeded among all the government agents because “if you don’t know what tf you are doing, the enemy doesn’t either”

And the reactions of people who was involved in it were just

“Oh cool anyways flesh glove” “cool that guy’s dead” “don’t be suspicious don’t be suspicious” “dang it worked wtf”

This is the funniest group ever.

I finished Volume 1 of LOTM, and after kicking screaming about the discombobulated state of the Nighthawks, and watching Klein do the laughing and smiling thing again-

I went out later, and there was a family sitting next to our table at a restaurant. I didn’t notice they had a baby until it cried. I don’t see babies often, so why did it have to be the same day as when I just finished reading a very horrible attempt at aborting a demonic baby.

It was a happy smile.

Bless LOTM for keeping my sanity in check as I deal with jet lag. Gotten to the 400 threshold and the way this story goes from “casual daily activities” to “OH FUCK WE’RE FUCKED WE’RE SO COOKED” at the drop of a hat is the wildest thing I’ve ever seen.

Like one day Klein would just be hanging out doing his stuff and tomorrow he’s gonna be attacked by some high sequence beyonder associate. Backlund Land of Hope my ass it’s Backlund Land of Absolutely Dangerous Beings. Also the way he’s like “I’m gonna avenge you captain” and his burning desire for revenge is so huge that he’s like “I’m going to achieve semi divinity and half of the reason why is because I’m gonna kill you Ince.”

Got to LOTM Volume 3!!!!!! Yippee!!! Oh, man, the story just keeps getting better and better. Miss Ctrl+alt+delete really saved Klein’s ass back there in the Vol 2 end fight (RIP Old Kohler I liked him noooooooooooo why Cuttlefishhhh). Will halt the LOTM art every time I finish a volume thing for now. I wanna do a thing when I finish all the volumes and make a collage or something.

-There was a period of time that I got so paranoid of Brody that I ended up googling if Brody was some secret enemy. Glad to know he’s just a cat. Glad to know we can still enjoy cat doing cat things here without freaking out if it’s some secretly horrific entity.

-Klein agrees to help catch an affair and gets tangled in ten other matters at once. Purely through. Coincidence. Sure. Sure sure. Yeah. Haha. Coincidence. Right..

Vol 3 thoughts so far :

-Danitz is hilairous. I absolutely adore his character and his chaotic energy when combined with Gehrmann. It’s a weird variant of stupid and smart except it’s stupid by circumstance and smart outside, panicking inside. Anyways it’s a great combo of flavors.

-I love, love the Gehrmann Sparrow persona and Klein’s occasional contradictory thoughts and internal panic. That said, the latter makes me sad reading them sometimes. Like he’s just. On high alert. Dude is like “o yea this is nothing I’ve seen/heard/encountered worse :D” like it’s a good thing… the only way it’s a good thing is that if you’re Klein and Klein specifically.

-on that note, WHY CAN’T KLEIN JUST GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP COME ON

-“this is madness” I felt something there and it’s a bad feeling

-Klein’s list of jobs so far : secret police, detective, cult leader, professional schemer, dropshipper, seer, clown, magician, Batman, assassin, food enthusiast, adventurer, bounty hunter, and also, babysitter

-Klein’s list of crimes grows in adjacent to his list of occupations

-Forget horrifying entities, The Fool’s real weakness is food and money

I am about mmm.. 850~ ish into LOTM and MAN!!! *slams table* *forgets my thoughts* JKJK!!! Holy MOLY!!!!!! Everything is crazy!!!! I am so glad I still have 600 or so chapters of this amazingness left!!! Oh Leonard I love you. I also adore Will Auceptin’s personality lmao. Oh the Foggy Town arc? Holy, crap!!! Everything is falling into place?? And Klein’s therapy session made me wonder about how even to a reader, I still ponder whether Klein’s actions are truthful or not, or if he’s still holding something back. Truly a fool in every sense of the word!! Ah- Leonard’s little grave digging adventure is- just- the emotions he felt, I could completely get it. The writing is mwah immaculate!!

Also Klein bullying Leonard in his own dream LMAO. I can imagine that whenever that will get adapted into anime Klein would just be staring at Leonard through the wine glass like that one scene from PMMM Rebellion with Homura and Sayaka. Oh speaking of which the new trailer?????? I’m screaming. As an ORV and LOTM reader I’m eating good yum yum. Mm that sounds a little off in the ORV sense but HEY!!!

LOTM Vol 4’s ending

You nearly just died multiple times. You nearly gave up but you can’t, because this man was the result of many tragedies, including yours. You think of the face you hadn’t seen for a long time, realizing he had always been around after all. This revenge was for you, and for him as well. Then he shows up, not as Sherlock Moriarty, not as Gehrman Sparrow, but as the face you always knew. It’s so familiar. Yet, is that really the true him? Had you ever known him? He enacts the revenge, while the person who stuck together with you from the beginning, the one who also fought for a bygone, familiar person, dies peacefully in his arms, while he wears another familiar face. You think you see him again, then he seems to take on another face again in that moment. It’s as if he has gone far away again. It’s so familiar, that stranger.

Me before Volume 7 : I heard about Merlin Hermes. I really wanna get to that part soon.. he looks very cool. Shame I heard he gets the least screen time out of all Klein’s personas.

Me reading Vol 7 rn : MERLÍN HERMES!!! Does he get another chapter.. YES MERLIN HERMES!! Oh dear mysterious Miracle Invoker, Mr.Fully Automated Wishing Machine, the wandering magician, oh finally you have shown up. Every chapter with Merlin Hermes is pure joy. Everything about him is immaculate. Yes I am very biased.

Something about Klein having to meticulously put on masks all the time, to have to restrain many of his habits as Gehrman Sparrow, to act like a high society member (and act like someone twice his actual age) as Dwayne Dantes. I’m just happy to see him smile when he wants, make witty comments, act mysterious but also be cheery, make a difference in some peoples’ lives, and overall just enjoying the joy in life right now. After everything in Volume 6, he should just enjoy life like this. Honestly, I wish we could get more scenes of him going out and eating delicacies more often, but then I realize he’s now Seq 2 and eating is no longer a necessity. But I guess he can always summon them.. in any case it pains me a little to know that when the one opportunity arises where he can just chill out, he no longer can enjoy it like he used to, and even that period of time as Sherlock Moriarty and Nighthawk Klein Moretti was extremely short and fleeting. Like, imagine you’re someone who likes to eat and taste random food, but life simply doesn’t allow you to do it often because you keep running into danger, and after that you constantly have to be mindful of your diets to accompany your different personas, then the opportunity finally arrives that you no longer have to abide by those personas’ specially crafted diets now, only to remember you are now someone who doesn’t feel hungry anymore. That also applies to other stuff like general entertainment, etc etc. What would a theatre show seem like to the greatest actor? What would a circus show appear to a Miracle Invoker? Merlin Hermes feels like an honest persona, but with a sense of disconnection and loneliness lying underneath.

GUESS WHO FINISHED THE MAIN STORY OF LOTM!!! 1394 chapters, WOOHOO!!! What. A. Ride. I was speeding through the past three hundred chapters and besides rambling about Merlin on tumblr I didn’t write much reaction posts haha. Oh, man, what an amazingly constructed world, plot and story. Isn’t it funny that the moment I finish reading is just about the time Klein is nearly about to make a return in COI, from what I’ve heard? Also cuttlefish didn’t have to wring my heart out with that last chapter AHHHHHH [sobbing]

I’ve been thinking. Of the angstiest. Azik and Klein fanart. And now that I’ve finished the main story, I can draw them with full understanding and emotions. The relationship between this student and teacher is beautiful. What went from a simple favor between a seemingly random profesor and student to a bid to keep each other’s humanity anchored through words written by genuine love and care from the other party is wonderful.

Klein starting off as a human acting as a god, a reliable pillar of support in the first tarot club meeting, and becoming a god who’s more like a caring friend to everyone else, truly half a pillar of the universe in the last tarot club meeting before going to sleep.

You were always a guardian, yet also a miserable wretch.
