Lore Speculation - Tumblr Posts
Spoiler for HW (I guess)
So, I was thinking back on how Y'shtola is blind, but it's basically handwaved away with: she use aetheric vision. Like, yeah, sure, why not she can see shapes through aether. Basically aether 3d mapping. Reading carving or inscription can be explained by how it has relief. Pretty impressive that she has enough finesse to "see" it, but okay. But how does she read book? There is no shape or relief. It's flat. And then I realized. Ink itself has aether. Which would postulate that nearly every book were written with enchanted ink, like the one you use to craft arcanist grimoire. Which beg question: do everyone use enchanted ink? Is it that common? Or is every books and treatise written with it just in case? Do only scholaf does that? Or does even the average bookkeeper use it for it's paperwork?
Anyway, that was my 2 A.M thoughts
We owe a house and an apartment but I spend so much more time in inns or camping out that we do still count asurder hobos. At the very least a vagabond (tramp).
I'm not sure we're rich. Between travel fee and equipment upgrade/upkeep, Taxes and aetherites taxes, we may be decent.
We're paid to the commission by and through the adventurers fees. So I'm guessing something like 10% of all our commission pay goes to the adventurers guild (or whatever guild we're currently working with/through). Depend how the combats/adventurers guilds are set up, and who take care of what, what are the administrative limits and lines between each others. We may have to pay a regular membership fees to the battle guilds, to still be a licencied whatever.
We're paid for our work in the Grand companies, and that's definitely a stable wage. But not a big one.
I doubt the scions are paid. It's more likely they have several profitable venture, like Tataru shops, and that they sell their expertise here and here. More of a shared communal pot were everyone pinching in. Pretty sure the grand company paid them as external advisors, expert. And still does actually, just in case they need an aetherical expert, master spy or primal slayer.
Serious question:
Do ya'll think the WoL is at least somewhat moderately wealthy as a direct result of being the Warrior of Light? Gameplay-wise, we receive currency for completing most quests, and five expansions worth of quests adds up to a few million gil, but do you consider that canon? And does it go directly to the WoL or to the Scions' coffers? Do you think the Scions receive some kind of salary?
Like yeah 9000 gil for a hair tie sounds outrageous, but the WoL probably makes that much brushing their teeth in the morning so is it really?
Pyre Pioneer for fire
Gale Singer for Wind
Frost Envoy for Ice
Bolt Bringer for Lightning
Soil Dancer for earth
Rain Chaser for water
And I may have spent hours thinking about what happened to the reflect, yes.
FFXIV thought experiment #1
So if a world super bent towards Darkness has Voidsent, and towards Light is Sin Eaters, what do you suppose the other elements would create?
What kind of creature would be on a world heavily influenced by Fire? By Wind? etc?
What would you call them?
So, my character don't have the issue, having air pilot view, but I do and I actually thought about it. And I think there is 3 thing
1. There is optometrist. People do wear glasses, and it's fitted, but it's fine crafted thing, and not everyone can get them. Or fit them comfortably. (Miquo'te, Viera...)
2. Very fine healing magic can be used to rectify the eyes. Now, bonus point: no real risk, and can do it for any problem. Bad point: Few people able to do it, and very costy
3. Potions. Potion to apply every week on eye that act as basically lense. Din't forget to renew. It does get costy over time, and you can get screwed over thank to supply. Often used in combination with actual glasses.
4. Deal with it.
4.bis. Deal with it by way of aetherical sense/manipulation to supplement the deficient eyesight. There is a few spells you can use too.
I seem to get better reception here than on Twitter, so I want to ask somethin.
Those that have characters that are near-sighted/far-sighted in FFXIV, how do you go about glasses and such? Do they wear them in combat, or can they make do without? Do they wear specialty Fantasy contacts?
My elezen boy's near sighted, but im trying to figure out if he'd eventually wear specialty contacts with my thinking being 'if cars and magitek and airships exist, surely there are fantasy optomitrists that can help correct visions outside of just glasses... right?'
I'd honestly would love other folk's opinions and views as well!
We're so coming back to Mondsdadt one way or another.
Venti is the only Archon who only had 1 story quest.
The relation of the wind spirit to times. One of the 4 forgotten gods.
While going through Venti's lines again I stumbled on this.

That third line? Hello??
Stress seems to make him worse at hiding things, not half-ass his poetry, so is this a threat or is it a reference to something that happened 500 years ago?
At this point 'take a shot every time you find something suspicious in the prologue' should be a drinking game.
