Malevolent Fanart - Tumblr Posts - Page 3

Not sure what this creature is. Maybe it’s Lilly from the Dream Lands? 🤷♂️

I drew this while watching stuff about Fear and Hunger, and had a thought. What if Larson’s daughter, Addison, instead of dying, turns into some sort of monstrosity? A being who is forever in agony, knowing that the parent who was suppose to protect them did this to them for power.
I just really love making sad stuff, huh?

I figured that after Arthur gets resurrected, he’s got a white shock in his hair. Had to draw it out as a post canon thing when they finally get a mirror.

Finally! Our boi gets some protection. He has been stabbed too much.
I had fun drawing Arthur in a breast plate. And with that white streak in his hair, I’d say he’s looking like a right proper man on a mission. I also gave him a beard. I can only imagine it’s been growing since he’s been dead and brought back to life.

A post canon portrait of the boys. I want to believe Arthur gets to grow old with John.

my friend and i listened to uhhhhhhhhh 8 hours of malevolent straight last night

some pretty old character art for malevolent that I recently touched up :333
OH, THERE IS SO MUCH IMAGERY IN THIS!! First of all, The Star usually depicts a woman pouring water both into the pond she's kneeling next to and onto the ground representing a grounding into both the physical and inner intuitive worlds. NOW!! Oscar has lost one of his arms, specifically the one that's supposing to be pouring into the self. Both of his feet are pulled back onto the ground as well which to me points to a loss or questioning in faith. A pulling out of the spiritual and reassessing. (Also, I think that's a Sun in the pond as well? Inner voices in the form of John? Maybe <3). What is he leaning into now? What is making him question the faith? Well, take a look at that rosary. Look at The Moon on the rosary. Who's the Moon? Arthur! Arthur has become his new purpose and his new calling. A new religion of sorts. And it's not water that he's pouring out but blood. A sacrifice. A part of himself. The rosary is hoisted up to that large star representing the most inner parts of Oscar which is perfect representation of his innate care and self-sacrificial behavior. POTATO LORD, I LOVE YOU SM. I AM EATING WELL TONIGHT.

XVII The Star
we didn’t get it right but, love, we did our best
OH, WE'RE SO BACK FELLAS! (This is a long one. Bare with me) First of all, I could talk about the song Francesca in relation to those boys in an essay if I wanted to. Holy moley. Go listen to it. That's all I'm sayin. Second of all, I AM screaming. Let's get into it. When I say that the Moon fits Arthur so well, I mean it fits him perfectly. The Moon as a tarot card represents the subconscious, illusion, the inner self, and dreams. It is the representation of having only half the picture and sometimes the full picture being itself unknowable or hidden from you. Starting at the bottom of the card, there is usually a pool of water. Like the previous card, The Star, this represents the inner emotional self. I believe this is represented by the lines in the background at the bottom of this art. It is tumultuous and almost wave-like in nature. Arthur is inherently conflicted both with his inner self and impulses as well as, well, John. This is especially shown in season three, where we see Arthur coming to grips with the fact that he didn't give Yellow the same chance that he did John and this sort of slipping of his kindness. Moving onto the dagger itself. Usually moving up on the tarot card, we see three animals near the water. This is a crayfish, a dog, and a wolf representing the early subconscious, the tame parts of our mind, and the wild. We've got a lot of this represented on this dagger. First, the act of slitting his neck open was probably the most and least thought-out thing that Arthur has done. This is done out of the desire to not have the King In Yellow win and also the deeper innate love and care that Arthur has for John. Second, the dagger itself has both the Star and Sun on it also representing the tame and the wild and Oscar and John. Now, which one is which seems obvious at first, but I don't think we can truly say <3. Like the Oscar card, we have another representation of the purest "giving of the self" through the dagger and Arthur's bleeding wound on his neck. The center of the card! First, we have Moon that's positioned behind Arthur's head rather that above him. So, the fear is coming from the inside rather than the forces high above him. Notice we also have a crescent moon going on meaning that he doesn't have the full picture or full grasp on himself. But this full moon is partially filled! By what you ask? Well, those outlines of the Sun behind it! John and Arthur rely on and partially complete each other. And while the Moon is in the foreground and brighter, representing Arthur going to himself first for decisions, The Sun's dim light behind him represents Arthur leaning on John as well. Not to mention that that Sun outline looks like an eye as well. I see you Potato Lord. I see you. This Moon (and Sun) ((and Star)) is surrounded by the moon phases which are stand-ins for the two towers usually present in the original tarot card. These represent limitations and boundaries. This can come from looking at the moon phases themselves as Arthur and John fighting over dominance in the body and mind or as the ever changing and ever moving pieces that are beyond both of their controls. FINALLY, the Moon's light is inherently dim and following the right path is difficult by the Moon's light alone. Therefore, we have the lighter, proving just enough light to get to the next step. The flame of the lighter here is the one and only Star, Oscar. While we have the dimmer light of John also guiding Arthur, Oscar gave Arthur the opportunity to have someone else to lean on. Someone else to guide him. A new light. A new perspective on things. Another voice to listen to to guide him forward. But John is still there <3. *bows* ... *collapses*

XVIII The Moon
how could you think, darlin’, I’d scare so easily?
ITS TIME. Oh, look at him. Oh, he <3
Ok, ok. I think this one is going to be more of a general analysis than anything else (go check out the post I made generally relating all the boys to the cards) but here we go!!
The Sun is about things looking up. Things are rough but there is a positive future ahead. So, it’s no coincidence to me that John is looking up in this image. The Sun is one’s ability to connect with the higher self and truly come into spiritual positivity. It is fully embracing one’s power. So, this should be a good thing right? Look at John’s expression. It’s melancholy. Unsure. That isn’t entirely what he wants, is it?
I find it important to note the placements of the Star and Moon in this piece. While the Moon is very importantly placed, the placement of the Star also means something as well. Remember back to Season 4 where Arthur’s increased relationship with Oscar made John feel like he couldn’t speak. He was silenced. The Star, Oscar, is placed close to John’s throat chakra which can represent a blockage of communication and restriction from voicing oneself.
Now, The Moon, Arthur, is located in the heart chakra. Yeah, you heard me. Now, one may be quick to jump straight down the romantic Jarthur rabbit hole but fret not for those that prefer the platonic. The heart chakra in general represents relationships of all kinds. It is a balance and a feeling of being whole. It is trust, surrender, and forgiveness. So, no. John may not want to connect with a higher self and full power (i.e. the King in Yellow). He feels whole with Arthur. They complement and complete one another.
Potato Lord, you are an absolute blessing. All of these are so good and I hold them in my hands.
[I will also explode if you choose to add Noel into the mix though I understand he’s not a part of the original trend. However, Your Honor, he <3]

Isn't it fun?! And now we get to talk about it! Ok! The Devil! The Devil is a ROUGH card most of the time. That and The Tower (hi Kayne <3) are one of those you kinda wince at when they appear in your reading. The Devil generally represents those parts of yourself you wish to forget which is reciprocal in this image! One of my favorite parts about The Devil card is that the same couple from The Lovers card is depicted in front of The Devil. Now, remember that The Lovers can depict multiple types of relationships, not just romantic. John and Yellow are certainly related to one another! The fun thing about this pair that's depicted in The Devil is that the chains around their necks are loose. So, their connection to The Devil can be easily separated from and their imprisonment is not permanent. John and Yellow handle this differently. John is actively fighting against his connection to the King in Yellow. How is he doing this? Through his love of humanity. How is it suggested that one defeats these inner shadows that The Devil represents? You guessed it: love. Yellow is still shackled to The King in Yellow. He still presents that part of himself. This may not be entirely his fault though. Recall a main realization for Arthur was the fact that he didn't give Yellow the same chances he gave John and thus Yellow didn't develop like John did (and Larson certainly isn't going to give him that chance either). The two are depicted with the lighter between them showing that Arthur is a key piece in their realization that they can remove their connection to The King in Yellow.
okay okay okay I know for sure I’m doing Judgement for Noel, The Tower for Kayne, and The World for Faroe- I picked out Strength for the Butcher and The Devil for KIY, but I was less sure about those two, so lmk what you think or if you have other ideas !!!!!
Hello! Holy shit, that’s pretty much perfect right there!!
I also immediately slotted Kayne as Tower. Like, come on. Look at him.
I LOVE Strength as the Butcher so much actually. Balance of mind and heart? Mastery? Passion? Yes.
Faroe you could do as either The World or The Fool depending on how you want to swing it! Whether you want to look at it as an end to Arthur’s normalcy or a beginning to this whole new world and era you’ve been opened up to.
King in Yellow as The Devil? 100%. That raging passion. Being your own worst enemy? Having parts of you that are “defective”? Yeah, that’s him :]
I’ll end up doing another Malevolent as Tarot where I go more in depth but I LOVE THIS!

Guys, I think we can end the poll there. He’s winning by a landslide. Let’s just accept it.
