Two Morning Malevolent Thoughts

1.) I am in full support of Arthur Lester and his 3 boyfriends. I feel like John is really protective over the others. Almost dipping into possessiveness in certain circumstances. Those boys are his and you will not fuck with his boys. I can actively see him snarling at someone on public transport for looking at Oscar’s amputated arm wrong. Anyway, I love him <3

2.) I feel like Noel wouldn’t like fireworks. Very odd headcannon but I don’t think he would. I am in need of community Noel snuggles with the lights down low and music playing during the 4th of July.

Isn't it fun?! And now we get to talk about it! Ok! The Devil! The Devil is a ROUGH card most of the time. That and The Tower (hi Kayne <3) are one of those you kinda wince at when they appear in your reading. The Devil generally represents those parts of yourself you wish to forget which is reciprocal in this image! One of my favorite parts about The Devil card is that the same couple from The Lovers card is depicted in front of The Devil. Now, remember that The Lovers can depict multiple types of relationships, not just romantic. John and Yellow are certainly related to one another! The fun thing about this pair that's depicted in The Devil is that the chains around their necks are loose. So, their connection to The Devil can be easily separated from and their imprisonment is not permanent. John and Yellow handle this differently. John is actively fighting against his connection to the King in Yellow. How is he doing this? Through his love of humanity. How is it suggested that one defeats these inner shadows that The Devil represents? You guessed it: love. Yellow is still shackled to The King in Yellow. He still presents that part of himself. This may not be entirely his fault though. Recall a main realization for Arthur was the fact that he didn't give Yellow the same chances he gave John and thus Yellow didn't develop like John did (and Larson certainly isn't going to give him that chance either). The two are depicted with the lighter between them showing that Arthur is a key piece in their realization that they can remove their connection to The King in Yellow.

okay okay okay I know for sure I’m doing Judgement for Noel, The Tower for Kayne, and The World for Faroe- I picked out Strength for the Butcher and The Devil for KIY, but I was less sure about those two, so lmk what you think or if you have other ideas !!!!!

I also immediately slotted Kayne as Tower. Like, come on. Look at him.

I LOVE Strength as the Butcher so much actually. Balance of mind and heart? Mastery? Passion? Yes.

Faroe you could do as either The World or The Fool depending on how you want to swing it! Whether you want to look at it as an end to Arthur’s normalcy or a beginning to this whole new world and era you’ve been opened up to.

King in Yellow as The Devil? 100%. That raging passion. Being your own worst enemy? Having parts of you that are “defective”? Yeah, that’s him :]

I’ll end up doing another Malevolent as Tarot where I go more in depth but I LOVE THIS!

If I go down in Tumblr history as the person who dissects podcast art with tarot symbolism, I don't think that'd be terrible tbh.

Kayne as a catboy? Call that “Nyah-lathotep”.

I'M SO GLAD YOU SEE THE VISION. ive been spending so much time thinking about this concept now that its gotten the gears turning and have been squinting at the witch and larson now since i feel like i need to dissect them as violently as possible. the witch reads as justice to me, ironically, mostly with her "i will help you the way *I* understand how" objectivity, and her conversation with john in part 43, suggesting an inverse reading of the card very hard. a lot of her casual hubris (in the very literal definition; a mortal believing she knows better than a god what he wants) also adds to inverse justice as well; also her backstory of being scorned by humanity and thus choosing to scorn it back as retribution. idk she just pulls on a lot of themes of the justice arcana - karma, cause and effect, balance of choice and consequence. she does the things she does because she feels it is Right and Good that way and a reset to How Things "Should" Be larson's kinda tricky though. hard to pinpoint overall narratives that would Fit cleanly but the closest i come to is the hierophant. both for the symbolism of a holy person, as well as the upholding of existing institutions and simultaneously tearing them down (reversed). its the wild comparison between being an immortal fuck that Owns A Town and Maintains A Household while being part of a ages-old cult - and at the same time commandeering a god fragment for a revenge plot and abusing the trust his daughter had in him to sacrifice her for power. both the existing institutions as well as the hunger to outstretch More of that power. exoteric wielding of power as opposed to the high priestess.

It took me way too long to answer this (summer courses be kickin my ASS rn). I offer you a hot cocoa with peppermint and the absolute wettest and most apologetic eyes I can muster <3. I actually fuck with the idea of Larson being Hierophant heavy. I think that suits him very well. On top of everything you've mentioned up above (which I LOVE) Hierophant is very tied to reliance on the divine or supernatural. HELLO! I feel like no matter what area we focus on in Season 3 or 4, that fits him so well. Yes, yes, yes. Now the real question is who or what are the Monks of Roses (heart) and Lilies (soul) on the card, hmm? And The Witch! Oh, I truly don't know. It almost makes me wish that we had a bit more time with her to be able to determine all the ins and outs of her. I really need to relisten to Part 43 again to make a determination on that. I really like what you're saying about relating her to Justice though. You're right! It feels like such an ironic thing but with everything that you're saying, it really works!
