It was surprising to find a place of comfort and relaxation among the ice and snow, but Valec seemed to know everything. He booked their trip -- very short, as she would need to return to the baby the next day -- and let her snuggle in his lap the whole way into the Shiverpeaks. The resort was beautiful, built over a natural hot spring. And their suite was even more so, a huge soft bed with views of the snowy outdoors, but a crackling fire inside to keep the chill at bay.

Plus, they had apple pie.

It was a short vacation, but one she wouldn't soon forget. One without worries or cares or anything weighing on her but Valec's body as they made love over and over again that night. Passion sparked anew between them and Milli welcomed it. She wasn't just a mother anymore. She was a wife, too. A lover. They belonged together and it felt so, so right.

Valec promised a return trip as soon as they could. Milli kissed him silly. She didn't need a resort trip to remember now. She loved him, through and through. And they had their whole life together to look forward to affirming it to one another again and again.
