So today, while I was walking my dog, I saw two Mormons knocking on doors and they came to talk to me because they thought my dog was cute and I couldn’t be bothered to deal with Mormons so I told them I was a lesbian in hopes they would leave me along BUT PLOT TWIST!!!! THEY WERE SO AWESOME ABOUT IT!! THEY ASKED ABOUT HOW I CAME OUT AND EVERYTHING! AND WHEN I TOLD THEM I DONT BELIEVE IN GOD AND NEVER WILL, THEY SAID IT’S OKAY AND ASKED IF I BELIEVED IN ANYTHING SO I TOLD THEM I BELIEVED IN MYSELF BECAUSE I DO AND THEY THOUGHT THAT WAS AWESOME, PRAYED FOR ME, TOLD ME TO TAKE CARE!

To my fellow queer mormons,

I just want you to be happy and to feel loved, whether that’s as an active member of the church or not. I believe there is a place for us in the LDS church, but I also know it’s hard to make that place. I’m not going to pretend that I have it all figured out, because I don’t, but I do want to be a voice of love and positivity.

I love you guys and God loves you guys

my brain in the wee hours of the morning: ok but how would being a vampire work if you were lds? chapels are holy ground. TEMPLES are holy ground. would you be able to wear garments? how would you reconcile being a demonic creature that depends on causing harm to other humans to live and function with the gospel? could you take the sacrament or be baptized? what about-

So how do you feel about gay people in the church?

I’m just going to repost one of Elder Ballard’s quotes from the BYU devotional:

“I want anyone who is a member of the Church, who is gay or lesbian, to know I believe you have a place in the kingdom and recognize that sometimes it may be difficult for you to see where you fit in the Lord’s Church, but you do. We need to listen to and understand what our LGBT brothers and sisters are feeling and experiencing. Certainly, we must do better than we have done in the past so that all members feel they have a spiritual home where their brothers and sisters love them and where they have a place to worship and serve the Lord.”

He says it perfectly. I have nothing but admiration for our LGBTQA+ members. I can’t begin to imagine what it must feel like and the prejudice you must often face. I want to emphasize what Elder Ballard said; you do have a place in the kingdom, even if it’s hard to figure out where/what that place is. I know the Lord loves you and wants you right here, in the gospel, where He is best equipped to help. I love you too, and if you need anyone to reach out to, I’m here.

Say what you like about Mormons, but we do recognize that free food is the purest form of Christlike love.

Mormonism: In the running for "most quirky religious minority" since 1831. 😁

It's important to note that Bigfoot belongs to informal Mormon culture and is not supposed to be officially taught over our pulpits. That being said, it would not surprise me if it were mentioned in Sunday school.

”The following are examples of tales and popular concepts from Mormon folklore:

that Cain, the killer of Abel, is alive and wanders the earth, wearing no clothing but being covered by hair and that apostle David W. Patten encountered him once;[5][6][7] and thatreported sightings of Bigfoot can be explained by this story;[8]”

If you live with ESL people for a while you start being able to translate "I see church of last day, must be woman" into "oh, church of latter day saints, must be mormons"

I Feel Like This Piece Requires Some Explanation. This Piece Was Done For An Assignment CalledWhats On

I feel like this piece requires some explanation. This piece was done for an assignment called “What’s on your mind” and at the suggestion of a friend I decided to do my piece about my experience as a skeptic of religion. I want to be absolutely clear that this piece is not meant to be an insult to any religion symbolized here. In fact, it is a self-deprication of my inability to understand religion. The geometric halo represents my rigid black-and-white (true or false) way of thinking. Even as I “dissect” various belief systems, I have trouble grasping fundamental concepts, such as “faith”. I also noticed during the process of making this piece that openly skeptical views are far more likely to draw dirty looks and the like than mainstream religious views. Somehow, that makes this piece even more important to me.

Thank you for your understanding.
