Ascendant Oblivion World Building

After doing a handful of research about the scientific side of the UNSC it was brought to my attention that almost all of the doctors working on the ‘ground-breaking’ tech that leads to things like the SPARTANS or anything else almost all exclusively work out of ONI. My friend and I discussed this and agreed it didn’t make a whole lot of sense, so in the story I’m writing I rectified it a little bit by making a fictional branch of ONI labeled ONI - USRO which roughly ends up standing for the named Unified Scientific Research Organization.

To further this, the ONI - USRO would be were a hefty majority of my own personal inserts and characters work out of, the most notable being Laurentius Faulkner, Tammi Reef, and Echo Cleary, the second mentioned being a known rouge construct currently captured by the UNSC for questioning, which is where we pick up in the first chapter of Ascendant Oblivion.

Below are the three listed in order, Laurentius being the founder of the USRO TROJAN network which was meant to be an experimental project that mimics the results of the augmented SPARTANS. The primary difference was that he believed that by connecting and interfacing with other scholars, they could find a more effective solution to the endless battles that up until two thousand five hundred fifty-three, the Spartans alone were entrusted to handle.

With the assistance of the since captured artificial intelligence known as Reef, the doctor Faulkner was able to develop genetic augmentation originally not thought possible for those already fully developed. Neurological implants make for quick and easy communication through both teams, and enhanced sensory recognition on the field during stealth missions. Make no mistake, Trojans were in no way intended to take the field physically, but rather find easier and safer ways to fight from inside the security of their own territories, see the MECH.LOT files.

In the story we follow Xerxes Team, one of the two groups of Trojans that are setting the plot. The story itself become canon divergent after Halo Guardians, as Infinite happens but not the same way it does in canon and The Weapon was deleted before the game begun. This is rectified later, don’t worry.

Blue Team is first formally introduced towards the middle of chapter one, The Fool.

Edit; Part of me hopes that Echo’s provided information is enough to highlight some possible avenues in the story, but I recognize the unlikeliness of that working out for me lol.

I feel like this piece requires some explanation. This piece was done for an assignment called “What’s on your mind” and at the suggestion of a friend I decided to do my piece about my experience as a skeptic of religion. I want to be absolutely clear that this piece is not meant to be an insult to any religion symbolized here. In fact, it is a self-deprication of my inability to understand religion. The geometric halo represents my rigid black-and-white (true or false) way of thinking. Even as I “dissect” various belief systems, I have trouble grasping fundamental concepts, such as “faith”. I also noticed during the process of making this piece that openly skeptical views are far more likely to draw dirty looks and the like than mainstream religious views. Somehow, that makes this piece even more important to me.
