Muzan - Tumblr Posts
I talk about it a little in this post and its various comments, but I think that the themes of life, death, and immortality that exist within KNY are genuinely some of the most interesting parts of the series at large. The most prominent and straightforward example of this exists within Muzan’s desperate quest for a perfect eternal life, which directly conflicts with Kagaya’s belief in the longevity of the human will. The former is concrete, physical, and simple where the latter remains abstract and very difficult to define.
It’s obviously displayed in Kagaya’s death scene;
But is also scattered throughout the manga in different moments — Sanemi’s first meeting with Kagaya is one of them, because it’s where Kagaya first mentions how little he thinks his life matters when he has an heir to continue aiding and leading the organization for him. He finds his eternity in the long standing effort his family (both biological and chosen) has made and will continue to make in freeing the world of the demonic blight. Which is a philosophy that he makes sure Muzan knows is followed by everyone who fights and lives or dies for the organization and its cause. The young men and women who didn’t pass Final Selection, the demon slayers on Mt. Natagumo, Rengoku, and so on so forth.
He dies knowing that he has a guaranteed legacy, and that Muzan’s inherent nature as a demon means he will never be allowed to do the same. Why do you think he becomes so angry when Kagaya mentions how his death means the death of all his demons too? He knows just as well as Kagaya does how limited he is. There is no one to avenge him or continue his work if he fails the way Kagaya and the Ubuyashiki have always had the Demon Slayer Corps. And even when the organization disbands, they have the certainty of a peaceful, demon-free future waiting for them. That is what they have all worked for, and the desire for tranquillity will always exist within humanity no matter who the enemy becomes.
Yorichii understood that very well… but his older twin brother, Michikatsu, could not fathom it.
He was utterly befuddled by Yorichii’s smile as he thought of the uncertain future, imagining a generation even stronger and more capable of saving lives than they were. He didn’t help the Sengoku Era demon slayers develop breathing styles or teach them or do anything because he wanted to be remembered — it was because he believed in the cause as earnestly and as fiercely as the old families who had followed it for centuries before him. By his own admission, Michikatsu had become a demon slayer out of insecurity and jealousy. He questions how his younger brother managed to leave so much more of himself behind when he was the one who became immortal, but he did this to himself.
He abandoned his wife and his children alongside his personal honor and his dreams and his cause and that’s why he can’t even begin to fathom Yorichii’s hopes for the future even when its manifestation is standing right in front of him;
Together, Yorichii and Michikatsu act as the second biggest philosophical contrast in KNY. They are the everlasting legacy of a man who could not care to leave one behind and the forgotten samurai who was utterly obsessed with the idea of having one, but didn’t know what that really meant. Tanjiro and Muichiro are also wonderful examples of this, because Tanjiro has absolutely no direct relation to Yorichii, and yet he effectively acts as his heir. On the other hand, Muichiro is explicitly noted to be Michikatu’s descendent by Kokushibo, but he is originally thought to be a Sun Breather’s descendant and rejects Kokushibo altogether. More than that, Kokushibo is the one who ultimately kills him.
Michikatsu literally and metaphorically kills any chance he has at having a legacy with his own hands, while Yorichii aids Tanjiro long after death.
It’s a beautifully painful contrast.

My latest addition to the Pocket World lineup, Infinite Arc! This piece can be viewed right-side up or upside-down! Enjoy fun times with all the demon slayers hanging out at the Ubuyashiki manor, or flip it and check out what Muzan's been up to with all his demon lackeys.
Which side do you prefer? Slayers or Demons?
I'm very proud of this piece and hope you all enjoy it too.

Choices and willpower are a big part of Demon Slayer. At its core, the entire story is driven by the decisions characters make, as well as their inability to choose. The manga starts with Nezuko choosing not to harm Tanjiro, Tanjiro's decision to protect her, and Giyū's choice to believe in them. These crucial decisions lay the groundwork for everything that follows. As the story unfolds, Tanjiro’s resolve is continually tested and strengthened, and the choices made by each character intricately shape the narrative.
In contrast, demons often lack autonomy. Many are transformed in moments of vulnerability, tricked, or forced into becoming demons. Once transformed, they are manipulated, trapped in eternal darkness, and compelled to consume humans under Muzan’s absolute control.
The story comes to an end with Tanjiro's willpower prevailing over Muzan’s attempt to turn him into the demon king, underlining the importance of free will.
Muzan with an S/o like Monika (from DDLC) (Headcanons sorta?) (Warning: I expanded Monika’s ability a bit for this to make sense)
Well, lets just say that when he first met you, he found you a regular human being.
You were nice, kind, sweet. just like any other regular human
However, he did sense something about you was oddly….off. in a way.
He could tell you weren’t just a human, you were special
He was sorta interested in you because of that.
He, at first, wanted to keep you around so that he could slowly solve what was it about you.
He started hanging around you more, to which you didn’t mind.
You were just programmed that way.
thats right…
You knew everything about this being a show
You knew his role very well, you also knew that he could kill you in seconds
But you also knew that he could most likely sense that you were different.
He was programmed that way.
He soon found out that you hosted a literature club.
He didn’t mind it, since he did read sometimes
You told him that there was an extra spot open in the Literature Club
‘I’m not interested’
‘Ok, but the club is always looking for new members if you ever change your mind!’
You wrote him a poem once, that was when he fell for you.
Your poem was about him, he liked it.
He noticed that the poem you wrote was a very good choice of words, an excellent writing style, and a great poet.
You also realized you fell for him after he said your poem wasn’t that bad.
You were pretty freaked out when it happened.
It wasn’t in the Programming at all, so how…?
Did it confuse you? yes. indeed it did.
You didn’t mind it much, however. You thought he didn’t feel the sane way
Though, you were wrong.
He fell for you after that very poem.
After that, you made many if your poems about him, for him, and you even wrote fake love letters to confess
But you didn’t like any of the love letters you wrote so you threw them away.
Whenever you showed one to Muzan, he immediately wanted to keep each and every one of them.
He didn’t admit it, of course.
When he did confess, you were surprised, to say the least
This wasn’t in his programming…so how?
You didn’t mind the Programming though.
’I love you to!’
Now how it was like…
Now, Imma just say this right now, he qould constantly ask why you were different
You never told him about the Programming
You were afraid that he would leave you, thinking you changed his programming to love you.
The fact you knew it and didn’t tell Muzan made him upset at you.
He would constantly keep bothering you about it, but over time it only happens like once a week.
He still wants to know
Prepare for a ’Jealousy war’
You get jealous when he hangs out with other women for to long
If you hang out with other men, lets say Muzan will be mad
He believes what is his shouldn’t be messed with
When you found out about his wife, you wanted to delete her.
However, since it was just for cover, you didn’t delete her
You would write poems for him constantly.
He would love them, sometimes he would attempt to write poems for you, some better, some worse
If you hang out with a man who has a crush on you, they’re dead.
Muzan would kill them.
When he told you that he was the demon King, you absolutely didn’t mind because you already knew
Muzan sometimes would cuddle in private.
In public at the Infinity Castle? No. not even holding hands.
He finds it ’weak’
You tried telling him that it’s natural and everyone has done it
He, of course, doesn’t listen.
He would buy you expensive things as gifts
You decided it was best not to get him in the Literature club.
You don’t need him gaining a crush on any of the girls there
He wouldn’t show affection that often, and you didn’t mind
You were very patient.
He liked that you would do whatever it was he wanted you to do.
Muzan felt in power over you, which you know he loves power.
He also liked that you didn’t really hesitate to say when you were uncomfortable or when You didn’t like it.
He liked that you were very honest, to say the most.
Since your also a leader, he loves that your responsible for yourself, and others.
Now you compliment him often
He likes it when you do that.
You guys read books together often.
You get jealous of the Uppermoons often and Muzan likes when you get Jealous, it tells him that you still love him
Your very loyal
As in, if he asks where you have been or what you did today, you’ll say it
He loves it when you play piano for him, it’s relaxing and it doesn’t make much noise.
Piano is a lovely melody.
He’ll never admit it out loud, but he loves it when you put your head on his shoulder.
The only thing he hates is when you go to the Literature club late, when you went somewhere without telling him
You never tell him about the Files.
Thats all ~
