Dream of the Endless wasn't always a cruel master.
In centuries past, when mankind dreamed of little more than pleasing their gods with meagre offerings of bread which would have been better suited in their starving frames, the relationship between Dream of the Endless and his major arcana could almost be described as benign.
And yet, despite it all, mankind excelled and every major development saw his brother Destruction wreaking havoc across their lands as men split themselves based on meaningless distinctions which sowed the once fertile lands with blood and sorrow.
As times changed, so did their dreams, growing more hateful and twisted in manners which saw his major arcana forcibly adopting new traits to match; Gault shedding her skin to mimic more intimate yet horrific monsters while his precious Corinthian took to developing pain-laced terror like a child indulging in a new toy.
His creations reported back their experiences without failure, regaling tales and being rewarded with a frosty indifference which they could tell themselves was its own style of praise.
Dream of the Endless wasn't always a cruel master but, even in the earliest of days, he fostered the very cruelty which would one day be the undoing of all his creations.

some friendly reminders: several tmagp cast members have said that episode 10 is their favorite because "alice and sam go to a place and do a thing." in a q&a stream, alex and jonny said that people would most likely only really start to understand and appreciate lena around episode 10. after episode ten there is going to be a four week hiatus :)
tim actually starts joking again as they sneak around to plant bombs in the house of wax. not embittered, scathing humor, but real jokes about their surroundings. man.

I love the point where Tolkien stops pretending he's writing a mid-20th century fantasy novel and just fully writes in Old English half-lines:
Still she did not blench: maiden of the Rohirrim child of kings, slender but as a steel-blade, fair yet terrible. A swift stroke she dealt, skilled and deadly. The outstretched neck she clove asunder, and the hewn head fell like a stone. Backward she sprang as the huge shape crashed to ruin, vast wings outspread, crumpled on the earth; and with its fall the shadow passed away. A light fell about her, and her hair shone in the sunrise.
There are 3-4 paragraphs like this. It's great.

Imagine being the only human at a monster market and everyone is obsessed with you. They insist on you setting a kissing booth to "get a bit more money" than selling your usual human bread. When you finally give in, the line is so long you can't see the end of it. You kiss so many monsters you lose track of what is what or who is who. You promised it was only going to be a one time thing, but you can't stop thinking about how many tongues where shoved back your throat, how many textured lips and wild hands grabbed your hair... You can't stop thinking what else would they do to you. That gets you so hot under the collar that you have masturbated about that idea way too many times. Maybe you could try again. Maybe you get a bit frisky and let them touch you a bit more. Maybe some of them can't hold themselves back and grope you. Maybe a traveling hand fingerfucks you in the middle of the market with everyone looking. And maybe your booth becomes the talk of the market and even more monsters come to see you. Come to touch you. Maybe you can upgrade to a sex booth...
