Obey Me Tsl - Tumblr Posts
It’s been officially 6 months since I’ve played Obey Me!
It started as a joke because there’s no way I would actually play an otome game for the actual romance. Well, the joke’s on me because I wound up falling in love with the Demon prince and the Fallen Angel. To commemorate this special occasion, let’s take a deep dive on the first event I played but didn’t complete, TSL: The Musical.
The event starts out with a meeting with the student council informing us that the musical production has been cancelled due to the student actors felt too much pressure to make an exceptional and memorable production. So, the task is handed over to the brothers and, of course, most of the did not agree to it but with MC and Simeon’s “persuasion”, they all agreed. Mc has a mental image of the brothers as the seven lords but Lucifer as the Lord of Corruption lingers on for more than a couple of seconds (more on that later). Simeon appointed Mc as Henry because they are more suited for the role. With the roles established, Mc practices their lines along each brother starting with Beelzebub, Satan, and Lucifer. Fast forward to stage rehearsals, Simeon states that the play is good enough if it were a kindergarten production, with Simeon unsatisfied everyone is left to practice their lines, mainly Mammon, and Mc with their dance movements, Mammon helps them out, Belphegor needs to practice the duet with them. Let not forget to mention that the scene with Asmodeus and Mc has their characters fighting each but Asmo refuses to hurt them but they continue. The night before the stage play, Leviathan has a nervous breakdown and to help him snap out of it, Mc quotes Henry’s lines and Levi proudly recited Lord of Shadow’s line. RAD production of TSL went without a hitch, high five Levi like in the novel, drop the curtains. End scene.
Before I go deep into analyzing, a few key moments of the game in-general. Obey Me! is not necessarily a dating simulator its more of a gacha game and the more you use a character card the more intimacy points you have with them. I downloaded the game when it was it’s first anniversary and I played the event when I’ve completed a few chapters and I was downright confused on what to continue with, the main storyline or the event because there was no depth to the characters for me to actually know them, to actually have these tender moments in the play with each of them. In one of my first posts about Obey Me! I stated that there’s was an edgelord who I named a pokemon after, I was referring Belphegor. Now the new player isn’t supposed to now about Belphegor until later on the main story but I had the misfortune of meeting him in this event, which destroys the overall mystery of Belphegor. I propose the events should be locked to new players that has spoilers from the main storyline.
Lucifer as the Lord of Corruption: its interesting to note that Mc has lingered that image in their head for a while because of his sadism. But from an outside perspective through the lens of a Catholic, Lucifer is the snake that tempted Eve into eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, screwing up all of humanity in the process. Fitting! His rebellion against God before the Fall, having one-third of the angel population cast out grace and into Hell, creating evil in the process. These are a couple of examples. In terms of TSL, the Lord of Corruption is the one that causes all of the conflicts between his brothers and had the Lord of Emptiness locked in a tower.
