It’s really frustrating to see fanboys clamoring for a Qimir/Plagueis-focused show when that was exactly what season 2 of The Acolyte was gearing up to explore. We were going to get that anyway; we just needed to be patient and let the story develop before diving into the main plot.
Leslye has said from the beginning that Qimir’s importance was reserved for season 2, and we were only getting a glimpse of what’s to come. Now, the same fanboys who contributed to the show's downfall are the ones crying about wanting him back.
I also feel like many fans overlook the nuance in Qimir’s character. He’s not some evil mastermind obsessed with destroying the Jedi—he’s a lonely guy just trying to survive and wield his power on his own terms.
He doesn’t even see himself as a Sith; he knows the Jedi would be the ones to label him that. His character is so nuanced that other writers might miss these layers and reduce him to just the ruthless, angry version we saw in episode 5.
Moreover, Osha being the main character doesn’t diminish Qimir’s relevance or the importance of any other characters. He would have essentially taken Sol’s role, and we saw how much development and screen time Sol got, despite not being the MC. A story about Qimir and Plagueis can’t work without Osha and Mae. Osha is Qimir’s acolyte and his love interest—they’re a package deal, and their characters are essential to each other’s development. Plagueis needs the twins because he wants immortality and to create life from the Force, and what could be more perfect than having one of a pair of twins, created from that very power, right at his doorstep?

Just had the time to read Manny's post-finale interview with NYT, and I gasped at this part. Because this little scene right here,
which could only exist because Osha made the choice to wear the helmet, was my favorite underrated Oshamir moment. That was his "I knew it" chuckle after seeing Osha with the helmet because he knew her, and he knew she was curious and brave and would want to try it on herself. And now you're telling me this small important moment almost didn't happen at all!?

What’s your favourite thing about Oshamir?
I really love their back and forth, push and pull power dynamics, and that Qimir’s so intent on getting Osha to trust herself and in her own power, rather trying to get her to bow to his. I like that they are kindred spirits; outsiders who don’t fit into the rigid system they’ve been placed into, but who can find a way to fit together, and build something new.

Osha's Agency in The Acolyte
One of the most baffling (good faith) criticisms of The Acolyte is that Osha doesn't have agency in the story; that she only ever takes one real decision in the Finale to commit murder.
And honestly, I don't buy it. Osha took plenty of active decisions that revealed her character and motivations, and which pushed the plot forward.
Here's a quick list (spoilers):
Episode 1: Lost/Found
Osha chooses to save the life of the criminal before going into the escape pod (it's a "save the cat" moment to establish she's a kind person). This directly results in her being stranded on the ice planet, and in her prolonged unconsciousness communing with Mae through the Force for the first time.
Episode 2: Revenge/Justice
Osha decides to disobey Sol's instructions to stay out of sight, and instead reveals herself to Mae. This revelation causes Mae to betray The Stranger in Episode 4.
Also, Osha decides to shoot Mae, indicating that part of her motivation is her inability to forgive when she's been wronged. This character trait has direct consequences in Episodes 5 (affecting Mae) and 8 (affecting Sol).
Episode 3: Destiny
Child Osha opts to reveal herself to the Jedi at the ceremony rather than remain hidden. This revelation enflames tensions as the witches are caught in a lie.
She also chooses to disobey both Mae and Mother Aniseya and take the Force test honestly.
She finally chooses to leave her community and go with the Jedi (before the fire).
Episode 5: Night
Osha convinces Yord to return to the battle against The Stranger, and even devises a way to defeat The Stranger by using Pip's bright lights to attract the umbramoths.
This choice leads to Yord's death, but it also ends the battle against The Stranger.
Osha again refuses to forgive Mae and tries to arrest her. This leads to Osha's defeat, and forces Mae to change her immediate plans and impersonate Osha.
Episode 6: Teach/Corrupt
Osha chooses to wear the cortosis helmet and experience sensory deprivation like Qimir does. This leads to her having a premonition of Sol dying on Brendok at Mae's hand, which spurs her and Qimir to leave together.
Episode 8: The Acolyte
After finally learning the truth that Sol lied to her for years and was responsible for Mother Aniseya's death, Osha chooses to commit murder.
