✿Our Life headcanons that nobody asked for✿
(disclaimer: majority are my own, but some are inspired by other people's headcanons and fanfics and stuff. these are headcanons for a bunch of different characters, not just Cove (but i have a ton more cove hcs so lmk if yall would want a post just for him! enjoy~~! ) (oh and this isnt in any specific step btw)

Cove would be probably a bit nervous about it at first but would definitely let you paint his nails.
turns out that he actually really likes it and would have you paint his nails sometimes since he doesn't rlly know how to do it himself (and he also just prefers when you do it)
Cove isn't AFRAID of the dark necessarily, but he has a hard time sleeping without some form of small light, whether it be the light from his fish tank, or the light from the moon.
he cries during sad movies. a lot.
sometimes he uses his glasses as sort of a headband to keep his hair out of his face if he's doing something.
Kyra likes stuff like incense, crystals, and essential oils, and likes to keep them around her apartment to make it smell nice.
she doesn't actually BELIEVE in them, but she really just likes them aesthetic wise, (and she likes the smell)
because of this, cove will always smell at least a *little* like incense and essential oils (specifically jasmine and sandalwood) for a while after he gets back from his mom's
kyra has probably also owned something that has an inspirational quote or 'live, laugh, love' on it at some point in her life.
she takes really good pictures and has an instagram account. she posts lots of pictures of you and cove, and pretty landscapes.
Liz, Lee, Derek, Miranda, and Terry are all Taylor swift fans. (terry only got into her music through miranda)
Lee went through a one direction phase. she still listens to harry styles tho
miranda has a driver's license, but doesn't actually like driving. Terry actually loves driving, so most of the time he ends up driving when they go places together, which works out.
sPEAKING OF DRIVERS LICENSE, miranda would like/listen to olivia rodrigo
the moms are both VERY competitive when it comes to board games.
liz is also very competitive in board games (she gets it from her moms lol). probably really good at jenga in particular tho
both liz and terry are GOD at mario kart. whenever you all play together, either one of them will always end up in first place
liz sometimes gamer rages when terry passes her

I wasn't sure if you wanted a specific step or not, so im gonna say this doesnt necessarily take place in a specific step (but probably between step 2 and 3) . i also hope u don't mind that i wrote mostly abt derek. i dont write for him as much so yeah. anyways, Enjoy~!

✿ Friendship headcanons with MC, Cove, and Derek! ✿

I think derek would have met cove before at the shop with his dad and cove would have talked about you a few times, so he would have known about your existence.
Because cove talks about you, derek would definitely want to meet you.
After you meet for the first time, you and derek get along well quickly since dereks just really nice and friendly
He might have felt a little weird at first since you and cove have known each other for longer and are closer, But the more you all hang out, the closer and more comfortable he gets.
After not too long, the 3 of you become almost inseparable. The best of buds
as teenagers, the three of you basically share a single brain cell lmao
out of the 3 of you, cove acts as somewhat of a voice of reason who tries to talk you out of bad ideas
…but most of the time he doesn’t do the best job and ends up joining you.
it’s ok. he tried his best.
I feel like you would tend to get into all kinds of trouble, yet somehow find a way to get yourself out of it (most of the time), most often by just straight up running.
But not BAD trouble, if that makes sense. Like getting yelled at by the mean old grandparents, or running off with the fruit bouquet thing lol
You and cove would go to derek’s sports games whenever you can, and he would come and see you at your things
On days where you cant go out (like if its too hot, or its raining), you’d spend them at either of your houses doing whatever
stuff like cards, video games, movies, whatever you feel like doing
Derek is good at video games (especially good at super smash bros and fighter games)
He also knows a lot of cool movies and likes showing them to you guys whenever you have the chance
Sometimes you even go to theatres together to catch movies that derek likes.
Cove beats both of you at cards almost every time (derek accuses him of cheating sometimes, but cove’s just really good from playing with his dad)
The parents honestly love it when you guys hang out. Mainly because they adore derek because of how sweet and polite he is lmao
Y’all are just dumb kids/teenagers living their best lives

Okay lemme just say
This boy is NERVOUS AS HELL when you decide to make it an official date instead of just hanging out.
But the day leading up to the date - he is a giddy, smiley mess. He is so so so excited.
No matter what you guys are actually doing for the date, he goes ABOVE AND BEYOND to prepare (tbh he would prob go above and beyond for every date you would go on, but more so for your first date)
He makes an effort to dress a little nicer than usual (but not like super formal like the soiree or the charity event), makes sure he’s all freshened up, maybe even wears a little cologne, and even makes sure there isn’t any sand or anything on him (even tho there probably still is)
He shows up at your door (or probably your window) and oh my god, that man looks STUNNING.
He probably also even brings you a little gift like flowers or something cute like that. This boy is very thoughtful.
Okay now onto the date itself.
I feel like you guys would do something different than what you normally do together when you're hanging out. So not hanging out at the hill or the beach or anything.
I feel like for your first date you would do something pretty classic tho like going out for dinner or seeing a movie together.
Cove definitely offers to pay for both (whether you let him or not is up to you lmao)
He probably also buys you a little something like he did when you were kids too.
Throughout the whole date, he has his classic little wobbly smile on his face. He’s shaking a little, but you can tell he’s genuinely really happy
He’s probably still processing the fact that you’re on a proper date with him LMAO

Probably trying his best to rack up the courage to even ASK to hold your hand
He keeps glancing at your hands, and then back at his.
If you hold his first, he’s a little shocked and is a bit tense at first, but he eases into it.

He probably DOES want to kiss you, but is just kind of internally freaking out about it
Probably thinking stuff like:
‘Wow, MC looks really nice. i really wanna kiss them. Is it too early for that? It’s only our first date. How do i know if they’re comfortable or if they WANT to kiss? C’mon cove you should ask them. Wait *should* I ask them? Would that be weird? Hhhhhh”
His brain is running in circles rn
If you don’t make a move, he would probably chicken out and not kiss you cuz he's scared its not gonna be good or you wont like it
But if you DO make the first move and kiss HIM first…

After the shock wears off and he's able to think properly again, he's just a big, smiley, blushy mess.
No matter what you do for the date, you somehow find yourselves back at the hill or the beach eventually (but are we really surprised? no.)
After the two of you part ways for the night and return to your respective homes, cove is still a giddy, smiling, happy mess.
Without even getting changed, he flops onto his bed, and just kinda melts.
This boy is smiling into his pillow, just absolutely bursting with pure joy and happiness. He literally loves you SO damn much. Probably more than you could ever imagine
But he eventually does get changed properly. He doesn't just go to bed in the clothes he wore out on ur date lol.
As soon as you get home, there’s no escape from the ruthless teasing from both Liz AND the moms.
They’ll leave you alone after you go up to your room tho, don’t worry
Overall, both you and cove had a really good time on your first date! Definitely a day the two of you will remember :>

Ok cove himself honestly doesn’t really care about your fashion style that much
He thinks you looks stunning in anything you wear tbh
At first, he’s not completely sure what to do since he’s never really dealt with anything like that.
But he’s always more than willing to lend you an ear to talk if you wanna complain or vent about it.
He makes an effort to compliment you and stuff
Reassures you that your fashion sense is nice and looks good on you.
“If you ask me… I think you have a really cool sense of style! And besides, should it really matter what other people think of what you wear? I mean… I think that as long as you enjoy it and you're happy, that’s all that should really matter. And um… how should I say this? I honestly think you look really good in anything you wear…”
Even if you think he’s just saying so, he genuinely means it.
He tries and do stuff to help lift your spirits like take you out places
He also maybe goes out with you to buy something like an article of clothing or accessory you like to help you feel more confident
