Camp Hamato : A New Year’s Nuisance

A New Years Camp Hamato Fic

(Colored Dialogue is the Cabin Leaders speaking [Leo, Mikey, Donnie, Raph, April, and Casey], While colored names are names of the counselors, the color of the name will be what cabin they are in [ex. If counselor’s name is blue, they are a Blue Beauty Counselor.])

It was new years day, and everyone was knocked out and hungover (by juice, soda, sparkling water, and other child-friendly drinks)- until..

“CABIN LEADERS!”

A counselor burst into the break room (which is only used for making midnight snacks, coffee, tea, retrieving energy drinks, mug cakes, and whatever someone may do in a break room), flailing in panic as the cabin leaders were busy trying to recover from the new year party’s events; with Leo sipping on Chamomile tea that Mikey made, Donnie passed out next to a mug of now room-temperature coffee mixed with some Red Bull that he mixed himself, along with Raph also sipping tea with Mikey, April, and Casey. It was best to say the cabin leaders weren’t ready for the news that they would soon know..

In a few seconds.

Leo nearly choked on his tea, startled by the yell as everyone else were sobered from their exhaustion- except for Donnie, now thinking that someone was missing or killed.

“What happened?! Did someone get hurt? Is someone hurt? Did someone set something on fire? What is it- WHAT IS IT???” Worried April, who nearly dropped her mug of tea, with mikey thankfully catching it with his hand (with the other holding his own mug)- but with some of the tea unfortunately spilling. Raph nearly broke the mug with her hands due to the sudden yell, not expecting something so loud to hear in the crack of the morning.

“There’s a problem at the counselor’s cabin- oh.” The counselor explained- before realizing that the cabin leaders were still trying to wake up after a very long night. “Uh- Sorry.” The counselor mumbled, embarrassed about such a scare to the cabin leaders. “No need to be sorry- what happened?” Raph assured, standing up and setting her mug down on the coffee table. “There’s a problem at the counselor’s cabin- everyone’s knocked out!” The counselor detailed, before all the cabin leaders suddenly sped out the cabin, somehow getting to the counselor’s cabin in almost under a minute- with a fruity smell emitting from the door. “…well that was fast.” The counselor mumbled.

~

When they got there, they all looked around- with the exterior looking casual as always, but as soon as they opened the door, it was almost like a murder mystery..without the murder.

“Oh. My. Gosh.” Mikey marveled, looking at the quiet chaos of the counselor’s cabin; with three counselors dogpiled under the mistletoe; four counselors sleeping on two sides of the couch- with two sleeping peacefully, and the other two laid next to eachother…along with a ping-pong paddle stuck in the ceiling and a few other things evident in the cabin’s interior. “What happened?” Donnie yawned, now exhausted from running and having to see a few of his own counselors in the mess. “Looks like their party went wrong- what type of soda did we give them?” April asked, looking over at the other cabin leaders, before Donnie took out his phone and opened his spreadsheet app (which is used for 90% of the camp parties, except for the *cross-cabin sleepovers). “All three Coke variations (original, diet, zero sugar), Sprite, Fanta, Dr.Pepper, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, and..sparkling water, if that is a soda.” Donnie listed, eyeing the bottle sparkling water on the table suspiciously.

“All of those aren’t bad- maybe it was a massive sugar crash?” Mikey suggested, looking at how tired they all were. “Possibly,” Donnie simply responded, “But it smells like Leo.” He joked with a snort, “Very funny, Donnie.” Leo rolled his eyes, before giving Donnie a hard punch to his shoulder. “Hold the jokes for later, for now we need to find out what happened and who was where.” April reminded as Casey (who was going to playfully scare April), was simply standing behind her, her fingers curled like claws before she was stopped, “What’re you doing here, Casey?” Mikey pointed out, before Casey let out a groan of defeat, “Casey?” April looked over, seeing Casey with a frown. “My plan has FAILED!” Casey cried out, on her knees before Leo patted her back, “I’ve been there, Casey.” Leo assured.

~

A few minutes into the “invesigation”, a few (but not all) counselors were recognized: Hibiscus, Khaos, Amora,**Phoenix, **Silk, **Fin, and two visitors from Camp Usagi- **Koral and **Stingray- with four (Leo, Raph, April, and Mikey) of the cabin leaders questioning a few of the counselors while the other two (Casey & Donnie) helping the other counselors in the nurse’s cabin and giving them some water. Leo was interrogating the visitors;Raph was interrogating Hibiscus, Khaos, and Amora; Mikey was interogating Phoenix and Fin, April was interrogating and Silk.

“So I gotta ask, how did you two get here?” Leo raised a brow suspiciously, interrogating Koral and Stingray, who merely came “to celebrate with the other counselors” , “We came because we wanted to celebrate with the other counselors!” Said Koral, “Me too.” Said Stingray. “So what were you two doing yesterday’s party?” Leo leaned towards them, observing their behaviors closely- it was almost amusing to Koral and Stingray.

“We just sat on the couch, just before everything went crazy.” Stingray replied.

“Before everything went crazy?” Leo repeated, before both Koral and Stingray nodded.

“Yep.” Koral confirmed.

“Could you…perhaps tell me what happened?” Leo awkwardly asked

“Sure.” Stingray agreed.

~

“And what can you remember?” Raph kindly asked, while Khaos, Hibiscus, and Amora were sitting across from her.

“uh…a mistletoe?” Doubted Hibiscus,

“Oh yeah!” Amora agreed, as Khaos was nodding off with soft snorts.

“Anything else?”

“Yeah- Amora landing on me and Khaos.” Hibiscus grumbled, before Amora gave him a playful nudge, “It was on accident!” Amora chuckled.

“I could guess that.” Raph smiled, seeing the two counselors be playful after an odd event.

~

“And what were you doing at last night’s party?” April inquired of Silk, who was glaring at her, “And why should you know?” Silk sneered, “Silk, please.” April pried, as Silk crossed her arms, “You tell me and I’ll tell you.” Silk bargained. “Fine, deal. Apparently a counselor came up to us and told us in the morning that you guys were something happened last night, so we came and found you guys asleep like a naptime at a daycare.” April explained, picking up a notebook and a somehow chewed pencil. “Oh, that.” Silk mumbled, glancing off somewhere, “Well, I was hanging out with Trickster, until I saw a precious, perfect lamp.” Silk purred, having taking a liking to lamps.

“Then what?”

“…I may have eaten it.”

“You WHAT.”

“DON’T TELL RAPH.”

“…fine, only if you tell me what happened- WITH FULL HONESTY.” April assured.

“Okay, okay, fine!” Silk accepted, waving her hand dismissively to forget the ‘eating a lamp’ part (..which is awfully unforgettable.)

~

TO BE CONTINUED (because I am rushing and I am slowly turning ablaze/nsrs) (This will be edited with more)

*cross-cabin sleepovers in Camp Hamato are basically when two or more cabins (ex: Red Rackets) have a sleepover with eachother.

Camp Hamato:

“I Don’t Like Christmas Trees Anymore.”

[warning for implied major character injury]

Ever since last week, everything went quiet. The camp was silent, it felt like a ghost town…except with sobs.

It was just one call to a counselor, and it wrecked a heartbreaking havoc on Camp Hamato and Camp Usagi, and it was just the start of the new year, even after so many things have happened.

“Shhh,” hushed Hibiscus as Khaos curled in her arms, her hands rubbing Khaos’ back as he quietly held back tears, as he barely ever cried much around others, but this, this was a day Khaos may never forget. It was just a few hours after something happened, and only a handful saw it, even the younger ones. Everyone was rushed inside while the other Cabin Leaders tried to calm down the situation…but it was messy- especially to Khaos, who now would feel pure fear being near a body of water.

“Khaos..” whispered the siren. “I can’t do it..” Khaos mumbled, his voice hoarse, “I’m not ready.” Khaos shook his head in denial, his mind flooding with the thought of being in charge of many, many campers, especially since Camp Hamato was unfortunately understaffed that they didn’t really have much of a system when it came to how many campers were with one counselor or Cabin Leader. “I wasn’t prepared.” He spoke up as Hibiscus listened, before she looked up, seeing all the other purple ponderer counselors looking devastated before looking back down at Khaos, “…for what?” Hibiscus softly asked. “For this- for him to get hurt, and now I’m in charge taking care of the campers, watching over a whole cabin when all I’ve ever been was a counselor, a counselor. I don’t know how to be a substituting Cabin Leader, I’ve always been a counselor helping a few campers, I’ve never helped over 60 campers at once, and we are just getting rookies and new counselors, along with registering season coming up.” Khaos ranted anxiously, his hands fidgeting with his long ears as Hibiscus listened. Hibiscus’s large tail curled around her and Khaos as Khaos continued ranting as Hibiscus kept listening, before looking back up and seeing the rest of the counselors’ cabin- and seeing the other counselors get comforted by each other, with Amora comforting her brother, Diamanté- who just came to visit and say hi, Deimos was talking to her twin brother, Phobos, who witnessed the recent accident, and Trickster going out to check up with the campers along with a few other counselors.

At the Purple Ponderers’ Cabin, Mirage- a Maroon Mischief, was entertaining a few younger campers by answering questions about his two tails, which Mirage had names ‘Alpine’ and ‘Lavender, who had mouths and minds of their own. “What can they eat?” Asked one camper, “Anything that I can eat.” Mirage kindly answered with a smile before another camper asked curiously, “Does that mean that if you have allergies they can’t eat that?” Mirage answered again, “Yeah, that’s right!” He chirped happily before one of the tails- Alpine, wandered towards a camper, before said camper started to pet Alpine, petting it like a dog or cat. Mirage smiled as the campers sought interest on his odd tails and distracting them from the ongoing panic and worry going on outside. Then, another Counselor approached Mirage and the campers, it was Astoria, a yōkai with whip-like tail and a distinctive star on his forehead, along with streaks along his face that faded to a bright blue, somehow earning him the nickname “Shooting Star”. “Astoria!” Mirage smiled seeing him, while Astoria had a grimace, making Mirage’s smile dull. “…Astoria? What’s wrong?” Mirage repeated, the campers still distracted by his playful tails. Astoria would exhale, before speaking, “They’re calling a meeting in the headmaster’s cabin, he’s requesting for all the cabin leaders and counselors, even the ponderers.” Astoria detailed quietly, as Mirage looked at Astoria, before looking back at the tech-adorned cabin, with half of it’s campers worried and sad, while the other half was either trying to cheer up the first half of the campers, while the others kept themselves distracted with their projects and little inventions. Mirage’s eyes laid on them for a moment, his mind wandered about how the campers would- are feeling about this. “…I’ll be there.” Mirage assured as his mind still wandered on that thought as Astoria gave a nod before leaving the cabin. Mirage soon looked back at the campers who played with Lavender and Alpine, their smiles bright as his was gone. “Okay, guys, I gotta go for a bit, okay?” Mirage said, as Lavender and Alpine tiled towards him in confusion, “Say goodbye, you two.” Mirage whispered, before the two tails playfully nuzzled and nudged at the campers like playful dogs, making them giggle and laugh before they waved goodbye to the playful two before Mirage stood up and left, opening the door, hesitantly nudging the door open - before closing the door of the cabin.

The Headmaster’s Cabin was quiet, tense. Headmaster Splinter was on the phone, Mikey was consoling Raph, April talking to Diamanté, Deimos was sitting with Phobos, Hibiscus comforting Khaos, Streak trying to talk to the others, Amora dialing a number on her phone, and Casey giving everyone some coffees or teas- or a soda. Soon, Splinter ended the call, before everything went quiet- waiting to hear what the headmaster had to say. The headmaster sighed heavily, before finally saying it. “The hospital called, they said that he’s in stable condition, but he has critical injuries, so he has to go into surgery.” Splinter announced, his tone full of concern “Did they say if he’s going to survive?” April asked, “We are not sure...” Splinter detailed, which gave everyone a sense of relief. “What about…the tree?” Casey asked. That question itself slammed tension back into the room as Splinter’s eyes widen, but soon softened. “…It’ll be taken down by someone else.” Splinter uttered, avert his eyes from the others. “Who’s going to watch his cabin?” Mikey questioned, but that question stalled Splinter. He never really thought about who would take the place of the missing Cabin Leader while he was unfortunately away. Splinter thought about this first a few moments, unprepared for such a scenario that he never knew would happen, trying to make the wisest decision possible, “How many counselor are in that cabin?” he asked, only for 5 counselors to raise their hands, including Khaos and Phobos, and doing the math made it realize that this wasn’t going to be easy, especially with the low amount of counselors they have, just now getting ready for registering season. “That is a hard question, Orange.” Stated Splinter, before thinking of something, “Would he have some sort of protocol for this?” Splinter asked, raising a brow towards the others before they all looked at each other in confusion or unawareness- leaving Splinter with nothing. “Well then, I have no choice. You there, purple rabbit.” Splinter said, pointing towards Khaos, who just looked back at Splinter with a sour face, “I’m…I’m not a rabbit.” Khaos corrected quietly, “Ah, apologies, You will be in charge of the cabin.” Splinter declared..again. “What?!” Khaos exclaimed, “Headmaster, I am not able to do this,” Khaos replied unsurely, “I cannot be a substitute to a cabin leader in charge of nearly 60 campers, and possibly more in the upcoming registering season!” Khaos reasoned as the others collectively agreed- with the registering season coming up, there is a high chance that a lot of campers may join due to their year-round camp- and that made Splinter…almost reconsider. “I have seen you be with us for years, I’m sure you’ll be able to handle it.” Splinter assured. “Headmaster,” Khaos repeated, “I cannot handle this. I have been a counselor, and I’m sure you have seen how many campers we get every registering season.” Khaos reasoned again, trying to express how unfit he is to the role. “Splinter, Khaos is right- we aren’t really able to handle that many campers, and with this, it leaves the counselors of that cabin with more campers, and with him in the hospital, there will be no Cabin Leader in that cabin to handle the main stuff, meaning that while he is in the hospital, the campers may have to reside in our cabins, imbalancing everything.” April warned, “And, with the campers spreading out, the counselors may spread out, and possibly scramble up the system we have already made for Camp Hamato, so the best option is finding a replacement.” April suggested, before Mikey spoke up again, “But why would we find a replacement for someone who you can’t replace, especially someone like our brother, our friend, our inspiration- why would we?” Mikey said, confused about April’s suggestion. “Raph agrees, why would we replace him?” Raph joined in, before April reconsidered. “You guys are right, we can’t replace him, which puts us back in square one; what do we do?” April said, now confused again. Splinter now was back at the question that started it, what now?”

“Well then, we will keep the campers in their cabin until further notice, Khaos, Phobos, and all the other counselors that were assigned to their cabin, you will be postponing any activities planned for February, let’s try to rest. It’s been a..stressful day.” Splinter set forth, before dismissing them.

As they left, the other cabin leaders went to their cabins as the counselors resided in their cabin- the counselors’ cabin. Soon the counselors were getting ready to rest, some cuddling up to their partners, some putting on music to fall asleep too, some with their stuffed animals that they bought from home, and some doing their own thing for nighttime. Phobos clung to his partner, Diamanté as they both tried to rest, but they both couldn’t. “Can’t sleep?” Diamanté mumbled as he held Phobos in his arms, his nose tucked into his neck, nuzzling as he gave out a hum. “Yeah.” Phobos murmured tiredly, before thinking of something, trying to say it before he forgot about it.

“Hey Di?” (<- Pronounced “die” (One of Phobos’ odd nicknames))

“Hm?”

“Do you…wanna stay here?”

“Really?”

“Yeah, you don’t have to really deal with bad customers, just a lot of kids.”

“That..seems cool.”

“You..aren’t gonna say no?”

“At what? The last part?”

“Yeah.”

“Phobos.”

“What?”

“…You do remember I have eight other siblings, including one that comes here?”

“Really? Who?”

“…your sister’s girlfriend?”

“Oh. Yeah.”

Phobos looked over to her sister, Deimos’ bed, seeing her and Amora giggling at a video they’re watching together on her bed. “Y’know,” Phobos whispered, “I dunno what’s gonna happen next, with what happened.” Phobos blurted willingly, looking at Diamanté, who just listened to him quietly. “Mhm..” Diamanté agreed with a hum, l?.Do you think it will ever get back to normal?” Phobos questioned, his tone hinted with skepticism, as Diamanté assured him. “I’m sure it will, just hope for the best.” Phobos took Diamanté’s words to mind, before relaxing as Phobos tried to doze off , as Diamanté held him- his body radiating warmth, making Phobos wonder if Diamanté was secretly a big campfire.

Cradling The Carnal

(angst + fluff?)

Another night in the Euphoria province, where many dance and party their hearts out with no exceptions (except the strict ban of alcohol), where music blasts and echoes through the province every hour of the day, it was another casual night in the Euphoria Province of Arcadia, and the one of the two royals of the province just finished their partying for the week, mindlessly forgetting about something very important.

Deimos was resting in bed as the TV illuminated the room dimly, a marathon of a show played as she laid on her side scrolling on her phone before feeling the mattress tilt ever-so-slightly from a foreign weight before hearing the shuffling of fabric, then two arms wrapped around her waist and a nose burrowing into her neck. “Hey Amora,” Deimos smiled, feeling Amora bury her face into Deimos’ hair before starting to purr, her tail swaying under the blanket. “Long party?” Deimos simply asked, with Amora nodding, still purring before she started to lick Deimos’ hair; grooming her hair. “Amora..” Deimos sighed, putting her phone down feeling Amora lick at her hair, knowing it would get unnecessarily fluffy hours later, but Amora continued- and Deimos wasn’t going to stop her.

But then, Deimos felt something else graze the back of her head- it wasn’t Amora’s face, or her hair, but something that combed through Deimos’ hair; something stick-like and rounded at best, and there were two of them on Amora’s head, as Deimos assumed due to Amora (obviously) being behind her. “Amora, are you combing my hair?” Deimos asked before Amora answered, “No, baby.” She replied as she continued to…”slobber” Deimos’ hair, as it was often Amora’s love language and/or stress reliever, especially when it came along with nighttime cuddles, as Amora preferred to cuddle at night, liking the dark ambiance and the way the TV lighted the whole room just right; not too bright and not too dark- just right.

“Then what is rubbing against the back of my head?” Deimos asked, before Amora stopped grooming Deimos’ hair, not saying a single word. “…Amora?” Deimos called softly, before feeling Amora slowly slither under the blanket, making Deimos roll over to see two horns peeking out from the blanket. Seeing the little “pokey things” prod from the blanket, Deimos yanked the blanket away to see her girlfriend in a more demonic form- with large wings with a great wingspan retracted to her back , nearly recognizing the form as Amora stared back up at her wide-eyed, fearful that Deimos my run away out of fear, before softening to a solemn look. “Deimos…” Amora murmured, her heart pained thinking that one she loved, clung onto, and bonded with her, would leave for a secret she now revealed.

“Amora-“ Deimos tried to soothe her lover, before she interrupted, seeing and hearing how Amora’s face and tone changed all so suddenly, as if she dealt with this before.

“Deimos, please listen-“ Amora pleaded,

“…what is it, Amor?”

It took a bit, but in Amora’s mind, it was a decision. A decision that could break her relationship, not to mention the shift in emotion. But she had to tell Deimos. Deimos knew her so well, but she didn’t know everything about Amora, and it was for a reason she never said.

“…I’m part succubus, Deimos.” Amora confessed in a whisper, tearing up with fear as she waited for Deimos to look at her with disgust or disappointment, or to just leave her entirely. But Deimos wasn’t disgusted, she wasn’t disappointed, she didn’t even want to leave, but she was surprised- with interest and sincerity.

“Amora,” Deimos said in a soft, comforting tone, cupping the part-succubus’ cheek, her thumb wiping her tears away. “Why are you so scared?” Deimos asked, her ears lowered in confusion- yes, she was surprised that her own girlfriend was part succubus, but she didn’t know why Amora was suddenly scared shitless about telling her something like this.

Amora, on the other hand, was shocked, stunned even- if those even have the same meaning. Why wasn’t Deimos disgusted? Why wasn’t she scared? Was she just hiding her true feelings? Amora’s mind went beserk, confused about why Deimos didn’t react as strongly as Amora expected- so she just stared for a moment before responding with a “huh?”

“Why are you so scared? Deimos repeated, concern now more evident in her tone as she kept her hand on Amora’s cheek, her eyes soft with caring, while Amora’s eyes were wide dumbfounded. She didn’t really know how to respond, but it was like her mind was prepared for something like this, like a protocol. “..I..don’t really know.” Amora mumbled, confusion now stirring in her mind as she tried to think why, nearly forgetting how Deimos didn’t say anything about the confession. “You don’t know?” Deimos said, subtly baffled at Amora’s words as she nodded. “I just thought you would…uhm..” Amora hesitated, she didn’t want to say it, she didn’t want to get possibly scolded about her fearful assumptions.

“What?” Deimos asked, confused. “…that you would be mad at me.” Amora admitted lowly with a bit of guilt in her words. “Why would I get mad at you?” Deimos confused asked. “Because I didn’t tell you!” Amora explained. “Why would I be mad at you if you didn’t tell me?” Deimos said, more befuddled. “Because I tell you everything!” Amora exclaimed, more guilt bubbling up in her stomach before Deimos somehow pulled Amora into a hug, her arms wrapping around Amora’s body over her unopened wings and gave her a warm, accepting, and assuring hug.

“I would never be mad at you if you didn’t tell me, just because you tell me everything about you doesn’t mean you have to tell me everything, you have the choice to keep stuff to yourself, it’s your choice, Amora.” Deimos emphasized, as Amora just listened, her eyes wide as Deimos gently explained to her, before she nuzzled against Deimos’ shoulder as one of her wings slipped from Deimos’ hug and curled over her; hugging Deimos with her wing. Both emitting a comforting, loving warmth to provide for the other, with one who revealed her true colors suddenly, and the other who didn’t care about who they are, but they still cuddled up to each other. Deimos they whispered into Amora’s ear, “Amora, I promise you, I don’t care if you’re some murderous beast or a witch, I’ll still love you.” She assured lovingly before pressed a kiss to Amora’s forehead as she cradled her; cradling the not-so-carnal.

Camp Hamato

🌕 ~ Nocturnal Night [Pt.1]

During the first few years of Camp Hamato, there were some adjustments that needed to be made…a lot of them, and one was something that Camp Usagi also had in common with; nocturnal campers.

Owls, werewolves, bug mutants, sea creatures galore, almost always making noises in the night- and it wasn’t really easy to bear with, along with campers who needed better sleep, but with the constant howling, hooting, and crickets (along with sneaking out after lights out/curfew) , it was best to handle these effectively… by randomly choosing the most so-called “nocturnal” cabin leader to keep them entertained during the night: Leo.

“Me?” Leo said in disbelief to four exhausted Cabin Leaders with tired eyes, exhausted and tired. “Why me?” Leo asked confusedly, before they all answered one by one. “The howling keeps up my mischiefs, and they need enough energy to learn about the art of ninja!” Casey explained with an exclaim. “My rackets keep on getting woken up by the hooting.” Raph complained lowly, “The crickets have been making my graces think we have a bug infestation!” April whined, meanwhile, Mikey didn’t have much to complain, as he usually uses the sounds the nocturnal campers make as inspirations for his campers’ art projects- say illustrations or pieces of art- so he just shrugged. “…What about the ponderers?” Leo mentioned, before all the other cabin leaders look worriedly…they never really thought about the Purple Ponderers since that happened, so the counselors of that cabin watched them while their cabin leader was absent, thankfully, said counselors thought up of clever ways to entertain their campers while doing so. “You know how they are, they probably are unfazed by the noises.” April assumed, before Casey agreed with a nod. “…So you all have decided that I should deal with them?” Leo summarized, before the other cabin leaders collectively say yes, appointing Leo as the Nocturnal Camper Supervisor, or NCS.

It was the first night with them, and Leo was quite nervous about it, as he had to keep them quiet and entertained, so he thought up of his first idea: gathering them all and having a Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu marathon, and it worked well, and somehow made some of the campers fall asleep (which was odd), but it worked!

The second night..not so easy. They all ran around and played, being loud as they disrupted the night, as Leo kept on trying to quiet them down with puzzles and video games, and while it worked on some, not all of them settled. Leo was near exhausted that morning as some of the campers who weren’t nocturnal complained of noises, and the cabin leaders were a bit upset about it.

Now, it was a third night, and Leo was pure nervous as the campers joined the group for Leo to supervise as it was lights out for the campers, and for this night, he just gathered them all and gave them electronics before worriedly sipping his first cup of coffee for the night, watching as the campers played games and watched videos, even watching and talking with other campers about the games or videos they were playing, and it was peaceful, giving Leo a glimmer of hope, all before he saw two campers started to fight over a tablet; Flame, a Phoenix yōkai with an awful tendency of accidentally setting things on fire- and Mirror, a shapeshifting mutant who can mirror people and shapeshift, fighting over a tablet: a recipe for disaster. Now what could Leo do.

Pride Month at Camp Hamato

(this was not beta read so sorry for any misspelling and odd grammar!)

As Pride Month came around, colors shined brighter than ever; counselors doing karaoke with Chappell Roan and Lady Gaga songs, making flag-themed outfits and accessories (especially pins), dance parties, glow nights, and even more fashion shows, and today was the biggest day during Pride Month in Camp Hamato.

6 . 30 . 24

The waking call blared, as the usual trumpets and such called to wake the campers as Mikey made breakfast, casually mixing the pancake batters (including the gluten-free, sugar-free, and such), while Raph led the campers to the mess hall (or food hall, for campers), and Leo set out the plethoras of teas in alphabetical order, as April and Casey set the color-coded plates. “Mikey!” Leo called out, waving towards Mikey as he finishes the last batch of pancakes, looking up towards the Blue Cabin Leader, “Morning Leo!” He greeted, approaching him as he stretched his arms, nearly tired from flipping pancakes and stirring many batches of pancake variations. “Just finished putting out the teas, did you finish the pancakes?” Leo asked, leaning on a nearby table as Mikey sat down and sighed, “Yep, and my arms are quite sore from them..” he admits with a chuckle, still stretching before hearing the chatter of their campers started to flow into the Mess Hall just when April and Casey finish up putting down plates.

“Here they come,” Leo playfully warns as Mikey looked over, seeing the many, many campers, only being told apart by their cabin-colored attire and pajamas, with the counselors dragging themselves in from their exhaustion from last night’s glow party, hungover from the soda they drank the night before- with one of them still having a glow necklace and a few glow bracelets on them as they all sat in their assigned table set for them with many cups of water and a few jugs of water on the table for refills. Then, the sound of a spatula hitting a pan, ringing throughout the mess hall.

“Campers! …and Counselors,” Mikey calls, as the campers’ chatter quieted down, their eyes shifted to the orange cabin leader, “How was the glow night last night?” Mikey asked, the campers replying with sounds of agreement and a few ‘greats’, before Mikey slyly looked over at the counselors at their table, now with a few of them refilling their cups of water- while one of them was guzzling down a jug. “Counselors..how was it?” Mikey asked with a smile, the counselors replying with thumbs up and a few other positive replies. Then, his sight lowered onto the chugging counselor, before looking back at the rest of the campers. “Today is a very special day in June, does anyone know what that day is?” Mikey asks with a brighter smile, as some of the campers started to chatter guesses, some saying an anniversary to a party, one guesses a fashion tournament, a few guess a talent show.

“Today is a special day, because today is Rainbow Night!” Mikey reveals, as the whole mess hall roared in campers cheering and squealing as the counselors gave a few weak smiles as one tiredly groaned, while the other counselors joined the cheering, before one of the new counselors look over, confused. “What’s Rainbow Night?” One counselor asked, before Amora- one of the Blue Beauty counselors explained, “Basically a big night in June during pride month where we party all night- and when new campers and counselors like you guys arrive and let them get familiar, basically a night where newbies come and we party all night while getting to know them.” It took a moment before the curious counselor before replying, “So basically a welcoming party during Pride Month?” “Yep, especially since it’s the summer we’ll have an influx of campers,” Amora confirmed, before Mikey announced something else.

“Along with that- we have a good bunch of campers and counselors coming in tonight!” Mikey informs, before the counselors shot up, before collectively sighing and relief, confusing the curious counselor more, “Why are you guys excited about newbies?” “Because for the past year or two- we were quite low on counselors while the amount of campers grew over the last year, and after a bit of..a problem, we’ve been desperate for new counselors to handle the campers,” Amora explained again, before giving an ‘oh’ in realization as the other counselors agreed with Amora’s answer, before looking back at Mikey as he finished up the announcements, before breakfast began, as campers went to get their food, the counselors stayed seated at talked amongst themselves. “So…newbies, what’re your names?” Asked Mirage- a Maroon Mischief counselor, before one- a rookie Purple Ponderer Counselor- first answered, “NightShade.” Then, a rookie Red Racket answered, “Emeris.” A Blue Beauty answered, “Nix.” A Green Grace answered, “Akane.” An Orange Originator murmured, “Celeste.” A Blue Beauty spoke up, “Saki.” Finally, A Maroon Mischief was chosen to say their name, nervously looking at everyone else, before shyly replying, “Reverie..” “That’s a nice name,” Akane commented kindly, “Thanks.” Reverie said, her shyness dissipating. “Those a great names!” Mirage complimented, before two of her sentient tails Alpine and Lavender started to sniff at Khaos (A purple ponderer) who was sitting next to him, before Alpine started to bite on the table before Mirage pulled them away- but thankfully, breakfast went well, leaving the counselors and campers excited for Rainbow Night.

An hour or two later, the blue beauty cabin was all crowded up, sewing machines chattering, threads being pulled, needles piercing fabrics, markers tracing onto fabrics…and blue campers scheming. Many campers chatters amongst themselves, as Leo ringleader’d the whole scheme that may make themselves the most glamorous and greatest-looking cabin in Camp Hamato during Rainbow Night. “Glamour Division! Take on outfit planning and appearance critique. Hot Soup Division, make sure no one else can see our plans. Hermano Division! Make sure we have EVERYONE gets a showstopping, jawdropping outfit. Comic Division! Make sure we have heaps and heaps of fabric enough to make every one of us has an outfit! Twin Katana Division- Make sure we have accessories to go with every. Freaking. Outfit.” Leo commanded, pointing at each division of the cabin, before looking at the counselors, “Counselors, keep everything working while you prepare for the newbies, and I’m ordering pizza because we’re having in-cabin lunch!” He announced, as the campers cheered at the words ‘In-cabin lunch’- which was basically when campers have lunch in their cabin, like when a class has lunch in their classroom- but in a camp. Hearing their simple task, the Blue Beauty counselors were relieved, before the whole cabin started to work their magic.

In the Twin Katana Division ; Foxglove, Azalea, Court, Rumor, Dove, Falcon, Stitch, Knot, Clover, and Lucky were given the task of accessories, which were either going to be two things; hard or easy- but since they were one of the most fashionable cabins, it may aswell be easy. “Who should we do first?” Asked Court, “I say Leo- so we could get the most important people out,” Rumor suggested, as everyone else agreed as Dove was chosen to retrieve the cabin leader, soon returning with him. “So, what am I needed for?” Leo asked, before Stitch and Knot pull him into they could observe and get measures from him, wrapping tape measures around him many times before bringing in the Glamour Division Who helped assess Leo and pick out different outfit options- from suits to dresses to even hybrids of the two while the Twin Katana Division planned with accessories, soon agreeing on a headpiece consisting of pearls and blue crystals and gems to replace his bandanna.

Meanwhile, in the Purple Ponderer cabin, it was quiet- no planning, no scheming, just the campers chattering and talking as they thought about what they would wear at Rainbow Night while preparing the playlist and making sure all the lights and speakers were working. Meanwhile the counselors Khaos, Digit, Zero, Virus, Error, Flash, Rhythm, DJ, and Cypher were making sure everything went well while also preparing for the newcomers- especially new counselors, since they desperately needed some extra hands ever since. Along with that, they were also planning their outfits- but in general..everything was a bit more monochrome and dulled down than usual ever since early January, also gaining an aversion to Christmas trees. “So..” Rhythm started, “What’re you all wearing tonight?” They asked, eyeing the other counselors pas they set up the bedrooms, placing pillows and welcome notes on the awaiting, empty beds. “Probably..something a bit fancy,” Digit answered, thinking about what to wear. “Same,” Flash agreed, before Rhythm looked at Zero, who was bringing in sheets, while Flash continued and brought fresh sheets (in a flash, hence his name.) “Khaos!” Rhythm called, as Khaos was busy writing and double checking the list of essentials for the beds and the cubbies and dressers next to the beds. “What’s up?” He said, looking up from the check-board, “What’re you wearing?” Rhythm asked again, “Maybe..a suit?” Khaos thought out loud, shrugging, hence proving to Rhythm that the counselors didn’t really know what to wear. “Really? It’s the one of the biggest nights in summer- and you all don’t know what to wear?” Rhythm said, disappointed at the counselor’s unsure responses, before Error spoke up, “Well, Rhythm, it’s not really not a ‘big night’ because..you know, and we can’t do it properly without you know, and we’re the only cabin who can’t do that-“ “But we can!” Virus objects, “You know has high-end technology and even has a digital backup of himself just in case he has to do two things at once or if something happens!” xey mentioned, as the whole room went quiet at the mention, “WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY THAT MONTHS AGO?!” Khaos exclaimed, nearly dropping the clipboard, “Everyone was all droopy and melancholy months ago- and I didn’t want to make things worse,” Virus replied, as the other counselors agreed with Virus’ words, as it was really dull and sad back then, but it has gotten better since. “Well what’re we waitin’ for? We have a Cabin Leader for newcomers to meet, let’s boot it up!” Rhythm encourages, before Khaos stopped them, “Hold it, guys- the campers might get shocked from this- along with the surprise that we had a spare of their Cabin Leader who’ve they waited to return for months, so we either surprise them or keep it to ourselves,” he warned, before the other counselors looked at him with confusion. “Khaos- you’ve been waiting for him for a long time also! They deserve to see him again while we wait for the real one to come back!” Virus points out, as everyone else agreed, before Khaos finally agreed, “Okay- but only if it’s a surprise.”

Meanwhile, the Red Rackets and the Orange Originators were in the mess hall’s kitchen cooking, baking, and collecting recipes- as Raph saw it as an opportunity to show a coping mechanism to her cabin; baking. Many Red Rackets were tasked with making different treats and snacks, putting all their effort (and emotion) into their baking, as Raph helped them use the right measurements and the right ingredients…While the Orange Originators were tasked with cooking the meals and appetizers- from mozzerella sticks to hushpuppies. “We got the first batch of Mozzarella sticks done!” Mikey called, taking the batch and putting it to the benches, where many other foods were laid out on the tables, as two counselors from each cabin wrote down the quantity of the food, with the new counselors Celeste and Emeris being assigned to the task, reason being if one or the lists was lost- there would be another list made by the other counselor. But, a few counselors were back at the Orange Originators’ Cabin setting up the awaiting beds for the newcomers, placing Cabin-made welcome notes and little gifts like small clay sculptures and origami. It was a bit quiet as they didn’t have much to talk about, but they soon finished.

All the way in the forest, Casey was slowly walking through carefully, treading each step carefully as she brought snacks, flags, and little trinkets in a paper box with a ribbon on it. She didn’t have to worry about the preparations, as April said she would cover as she excused herself to “go to the bathroom”, As she arrived to an open area with a put-out bonfire, she placed the box down as she gave an animal call. It as silent at first, before another call called back, before more calls echoed as trees started to rustle and bristle before she was surrounded by many masked individuals, all with different masks- with no two being the same. As she became surrounded, she called out, “I bring you treats! As tonight is Rainbow Night, and we are expecting to have newcomers!” She announced, as the masked individuals let out different animal calls as their way to cheer and celebrate the announcement.

Soon enough it was 7:00pm, and it was almost time for Rainbow Night, and everyone was slowly spilling out of their cabins..but not the Blue Beauties, and everybody realized that they had something planned while the Orange Originators were setting out the snacks. As everyone was starting to get ready, and Virus and Zero set up the DJ-ing equipment, all the lights went out, before they pointed towards the Blue Beauty cabin, pointing at the door as a voice echoed through the camp, “Camp Hamato! Are you ready for the greatest, flashiest, jaw dropping, inspirational and inspiring fashion frenzy in the history of Rainbow Night?”

It was already obvious that this was planned, but the Cabin Leaders were immediately concerned at the lights, especially when it came to the Blue Beauties and Leo in particular, but they cheered on because they always had some good fashion ideas. Soon enough, the door flung open as the campers started coming out, with all different outfits and accessories adorned. After that, the counselors came out, with some shyly dragging out others (with Amora pulling Hibiscus out the cabin with Deimos’ help, it was successful), and after the counselors and campers came, they waited for Leo. It was a while, and it was getting concerning- along with that, they were missing one camper and one counselor- and that exact detail struck a chord within the Cabin Leaders. “Where’s Leo?” Raph asked, as he went over to the blue counselors to ask them as Mikey beat her to it, asking the counselors as Raph approached them, “Have you seen-“ “nope, none of the counselors have, are you guys sure you haven’t seen him?” Mikey asked, as Hibiscus, Amora, Deimos, Ocean, Clementine , and another few counselors said no, “We only saw him before the lights went out,” Clementine detailed, “Before the lights went out?” Raph repeated, as everyone else confirmed it. “And you didn’t see him after that?” Mikey asked, and once again- they said no, and that when it clicked.

“Leo, come on- you’ll be fine, everyone’ll love your outfit!” Said Disk, tugging Leo’s arm as they pulled backward, wary about coming out, “No! No no no no no” Leo declined, fear pulling him back. “Leo, you’ve been planning this out all day- and you don’t want to show off your outfit?” insisted Memory, who also tried to make Leo come outside, “I just don’t feel well, maybe something from the lunch!” Leo sputtered, trying to make up excuses before Memory and Disk stopped their attempts, befpre staring at Leo in pure confusion, “you don’t feel well from lunch?” Memory repeated, crossing her arms as she raised a suspicious brow, “We had in-cabin lunch- and it was your favorite kind of pizza that you always ate,” She recalls, as Leo soon froze up, caught in his quick lie. “You aren’t sick!” Disk called out, also crossing their arms, looking at Leo for an explanation, before their suspicion looks turned to concern. “Leo, are you still scared of..” “Yeah.”

So that’s why.

“We’ll make sure nothing else happens, deal?” Disk offered, before taking a few steps near the blue cabin leader, offering their hand before Leo took their hand as they pulled him up, “Everyone’ll love your outfit,” Disk repeats in an assuring tone as Memory gave an agreeing nod.

As everyone kept on worrying about Leo’s absence, the Cabin Leaders started to panic and fret about if Leo was in trouble before the lights shone back on the Blue Beauty Cabin again..somehow- only to see Disk and Memory come out in their outfits, before Leo came out in his custom-made outfit, with slit sleeves and a gorgeous headpiece crafted by the Glamour division as everyone started to ooh and ahh at Leo’s outfit as he slightly squinted from the lights- but it was kind of worth it. Before Leo could look around or say anything, Mikey ran over and snagged him in a tight, worrying hug. “Leo! We were worried sick!” Mikey cried while he squeezed the life out of Leo, “Mike- you’re squeezin’ me-“ Leo squeaked out, before Mikey let him go, “I was just getting ready- preparing for me entrance!” Leo assured as Raph gave a sigh of relief before Casey and April came to check up on them, “Hey guys!” April waved as Casey came over with her, their hands interlocked as they approached while the campers spread out to socialize. “Hey April, hey casey,” Leo greeted before looking at everyone else like he was about to say something else, before realizing an absence that made his smile falter before trying to cheer himself up, knowing that the absence would want everyone to be happy even while he was gone. “Let’s get this welcome party started!” Leo cheered.

The party was already going well as the camp was adorned with many flags to represent everyone attending the camp, along with everyone wearing pins with their gender and pronouns- with Raph wearing a She/Her pin and Mikey wearing an Any Pronouns pin, and for lovers- the partners would wear pins or accessories with matching details or patterns, with April and Casey wearing chokers with Casey’s being green with sparkly flame patterns while April’s was maroon with spike patterns. Soon enough, the newcomers started to flood in, with a new, diverse bunch of counselors and campers in, from sirens to shapeshifters, and they were already getting to know the others, with Hibiscus meeting a siren like him named Anemone, and Amora meeting a lion like her named Storm, but the best part..was that even turtles and yokai were coming in! Especially a yokai named Sunita who caught Casey and April’s eye and hit it off, knowing her from the Run of the Mill Pizzeria where they get the pizza for lunch. As it hit midnight and after everyone had cake, there were dance contests and Dance Dance Revolution tournaments for hours, and everyone was all happy for the night, another Rainbow Night well done..but one thing was left.

As the party died , the Purple Ponderer campers were taken back into their cabin discreetly. The cabin was filled with murmurs and whispers of confusion and curiosity, before Khaos and the other came up to a makeshift podium as he rang a bell to catch their attention, as the cabin went silent. “Purple Ponderers! We bring you here tonight to share a surprise that may soothe us from our unfortunate pressures and worries, so behold..” Khaos announced before a purple glow adorned the cabin’s walls, before the campers stood in shock as tears started to shed as they laid their eyes on someone they hoped they could come back.

.

The halls of Phoenix General Hospital hummed quietly, as nurses and doctors came by, as a deliverer skittered along, speeding past patients and doctors as packages, supplies, and letters, before screeching to a stop at a particular room, before they knocked on a door, only to be answered with an “enter.” As they came in, a familiar patient laid in his bed as his goggles and bandanna were laid onto the side, “Donnie, how’re you holding up?” Asked the deliverer, “Mx. Roadrunner, it’s been a good while, what am I receiving this time?” Replied Donnie, before a letter was handed to him, “The usual, y’know- they’re really missing you over at camp, and if you ask- Rainbow Night went well, and you got a good bunch of new counselors and campers when you come back,” Mx. Roadrunner mentions, before Donnie snapped his head over at the deliverer, “How many?” He asked, “at least 5 counselors and a few handfuls of campers.” “I need to tell them!” Donnie remembers, before Mx. Roadrunner looked at Donnie confusedly, “tell them what?” They asked, before Donnie face-palmed himself, “Just..get me some paper and a pen…” he sighed tiredly.

Okay- so I need your help for a bit-

I’m making a story that features most of the OCs I’ve posted, BUT I’m having a small bit of a problem- I want to choose a name. I wanted to choose “Arcadia” or “Potentia”, but there’s already SO MANY THINGS with “Arcadia” in it, and I don’t want any trouble or confusion, and I thought I would replace it with “Potentia” as it’s basically “Potential” without the L. I don’t know which to choose but I’m currently writing the prologue (with no beta readers) so its in the works! ^^
