Wing Care But Families Are Hardπ
They/Them Pronouns)
(1000+ words)
Description: You go visit home after a few weeks. Phil, your grandpa, greets you in the living room. Things don't settle well and it comes to a head while he preens your wings. (Platonic Philza x Reader)
[Read the rest under the cut]
{γβγ}
"Hey Phil," You said, pushing open the door of Techno's home. Just like you thought he'd be, Phil was reading a book as he curled up on the couch. You stretched your wings out a bit, shaking them out a bit.
"I'm still jealous you can do that," Phil complained as he stretched his arms. You laughed at him, flying in the rain was horrendous when you didn't have an oil gland. You never had to worry though. You could fly in the rain for a bit if you really wanted to.
You didn't often because having wet wings was more than mildly uncomfortable but you still could.
Phil walked over to you, settling a towel on your head. You grinned up at him, wrapping your arms around him quickly.
"Woah-!" Phil laughed. Gently, he ran a hand through your hair. You melted into the touch, relaxing until you were leaning heavily on Phil. "You're so cold, mate."
"Mhm," It's a distant answer, too busy focusing on the mini-preening to your head to answer. You click your tongue in contentment, feeling a low rumble build up in your throat. "I think your wings need to be preened, Y/N."
You groan, too relaxed to do it yourself. "Can you help?"
"Of course."
He gently pulls away, settling you down on the couch. You shuffled to curl away and spread out one of your wings. He gently ran a hand through them, looking for blood feathers.
Carefully, he made sure to avoid them when he pulled out feathers. Gently and carefully, soothing and relaxing. You crooned happily, melting back against the couch.
You closed your eyes, feeling nothing but gooey as he gently fixed up your wings. It'd been so long since your last preening, back when Tommy was still living under the basement in his makeshift home. It was cold but it was nice as Tommy preened them.
You missed him... You hadn't been allowed to see him after... everything. Your dad was too overprotective to let you see your thrice backstabbing uncle.
"You okay," Phil asked softly, carding a gentle hand through your fluffed up mahogany feathers.
Tommy was never like Phil when he preened. Tommy was quick and nimble but soft. Phil was slow and gentle and tough. Years of experience compared to Tommy's slight hesitation or fumbling. But your uncle was always hesitant recently...
You nodded weakly. "Yeah, just-... I-I miss him..."
"So do I," Phil admitted, the same rough edge from when he talked about Wilbur coming through. "But you know why you can't see him."
You bit your tongue. "Not even after his death?" You wanted to ask. Instead, you sighed.
"Because he's a liar and backstabber," You recited your father's words like they were your own. "He only ever treated Dad like a weapon."
"Family meant nothing to him," Phil stressed, plucking a father out with a sudden pinch. "We meant nothing to him."
You shook your head. They didn't know Tommy like you did, even if they thought they did. Admittedly, he hadn't told you everything, but you knew a majority of the twisted things Dream had done to your once headstrong and stubborn uncle.
And you knew exactly what family meant to him. It meant Wilbur and Techno and Phil. But it also meant Tubbo and Fundy and Niki and L'Manberg. Family was a sore subject but on the late nights where he was too broken to care about reputations, he cried to you about how much he still loved Tubbo and L'Manburg. They had hurt him, he had hurt them.
In the end, their blood-strengthened bond had been stronger than weak, years old ties.
And it did hurt.
You had thought that, maybe, he would actually become your uncle that you've been hearing stories about. The Tommy that waged wars with gods and won with only a ragtag group of kids. The Tommy who had been a conman long before he became family.
But things had changed and he had changed. In the end, you can only be glad he is still alive.
"How has Snowchester been?" Phil filled in the silence, plucking another feather. "I heard Ranboo and Tubbo adopted a kid."
"Yeah," You managed after a few seconds, thoughts and words dying on your tongue. "Micheal is a sweet kid. He's starting to talk, kinda."
Phil nods, running a hand through your feathers a final time and patting your shoulder. You leaned away, settling on the opposite side of the couch.
The rain seemed to pour harder, fighting against the windows like a beast. It didn't usually rain around your dad's house, but you supposed there's a first time for everything.
"Phil," It's hard to find the right words. It's like your mind is forgetting your entire vocabulary. A part of you is saying bail, but it's the cowardly part of you. The part that took after Phil.
"Did you ever love Tommy?"
It's an easier question than "do you love me?".
"I-," Phil tries, his brows furrowed. Their purple wings, already so pale, shift awkwardly. It's uncomfortable how long it's taking him to answer. "Of course I did-, do. Of course I do."
It's not the answer you were looking for. You craved something more honest, and something more caring. It was silly to dream when you had already known the answer.
"Yeah," You muster, staring out the window. "I should probably go soon."
"So soon-?" Phil says, a little more brokenly than earlier. "But-?"
"Tubbo'll need help with putting Micheal to bed." You offer weakly. "They're so hyper that it's a two-person job."
"I see." They sigh, giving you a tight smile nonetheless. "Visit again soon. Techno hasn't admitted it yet but he misses you. You're his kid."
"Wilbur being your kid didn't stop you from killing him."
You bite your tongue and nod. When you step out, the rain feels heavy as you fly away from your grandfather.
Tubbo wasn't expecting you back until Sunday and you didn't really have a house built anywhere else.
Tommy's hotel could use a customer, right?

Michael and His Three Platonic Dads π
(699 words lol)
(Any but you are referred to as Dad)
Description: You are just a regular streamer that gets roped into the BeeDuo Family.
[Read the rest under the cut]
You chewed on your pop tart, scrolling through Twitter. Things were a bit random today, with people mentioning you in a bunch of random pictures of a baby piglin. Maybe your brand was built off of your piglin-esque skin but that didn't mean you wanted your fans tagging you in every tweet mentioning the piglin they named 'Micheal.
As you scrolled through them all, you found a tweet that mentioned how this all started.
"RandomTwitterAcc @doesntexistthisisfanfic
Ranboo and Tubbo adopting Michael and then everyone just forcing @ogpiglin into the role of third father is everything"
You raise a brow. You've heard about your fellow minors who stream minecraft before. They'd gotten insanely popular, so of course you had. But you've never interacted with them before.
It's just your luck that the first time you do, it's because the fandom is forcing you to adopt their piglin child, Michael, too.
Honestly? You've had worse introductions to people. When you had first met Georgenotfound, it was going against him in chess and trash talking him the whole time.
You're friends now, but thrashing someone in a game that's being broadcasted to thousands isn't always taken well. You're just lucky that the stans didn't come after you for it.
You did have a stream in thirty minutes, maybe you could make it apart of your stream to tweet about Michael. You could "officially" adopt him while on stream. That'd probably be good enough content before you got to your actual content. Which you still hadn't decided between an old lucky block mod with interactive chat or joining random fan's realms. Decisions, decisions.
{γβγ}
In the end, lucky blocks had been too tempting. Who wouldn't want to relieve the nostalgia of their childhood?
Of course though, you had already mentally promised yourself to address the whole baby piglin situation. (And likely add gasoline to the flames)
"Hey chat!" You exclaimed loudly, the soft noise of Pigstep playing as your intro music. Chat was a mix of "hi" and "ba ba ba ba" with a few mentions of Michael. "How are you all doing today?"
You hummed along to Pigstep as you chat responds. You glance over donos and chucklewhen you realize a majority are about Michael. Yeah, it's best to get over with it.
"Alright guys! Before we get into playing Minecraft, I want to do something fun." You grin mischievously at the camera. It's not an expensive camera, nor is the rest of your set up, but it's been with you since you started streaming last year and you've gotten attached. Chat even named it a multitude of things, although the one they commonly use is nugget.
Maybe it's your fault for wrapping it in gold wrapping paper for Christmas. The name "gold nugget" just caught on and then nugget was founded. It's shorter but honestly, you've taken to calling it, lovingly, a piece of shit.
"We are going to officially adopt that one baby piglin from the Dream smp, Michael, on Twitter. Because why wouldn't we want to break Twitter?"
Chat enthusiastically cheered you on. Your mods were probably half-way close to putting it in money mode, but you just laughed and pulled up Twitter.
Techno stans me @ogpiglin
Everyone wants me to, so now I'm adopting Michael. @Ranboosaystuff and @TubbosLive we are all now Michael's dads.
{γβγ}
You giggled, almost drunkenly, a few hours later. It was almost 3am, but you were having a lot of fun. Glancing over at chat, something you hadn't done in a while, you realize chat was excitedly yelling about Tubbo and Ranboo being in chat.
"Oh?" You raise an eyebrow to chat. "Apparently my fellow dads are in chat."
"Welcome!" You spin in your chair, flinging your hands into the air before you wobbily clutch your desk to stop a few seconds later. "I should probably vip you two. Give me a second... and done!"
Instantly, the duo spams "check discord".
Getting the message to check discord, you pull it up to see a pair of friend requests from them.Β Accepting instantly, you send a quick "hi".
A bit awkward. Especially since you're suddenly being roped into helping them raise Micheal in the dsmp.

Description: You go with George to his meet up with Tommy, Wilbur, and Vikkstar. Things happen from there.
[Read more under the cut]
{γβγ}
You trailed after George readjusting his backpack which he somehow convinced you to carry. Both of you were on your way to meet up with more of George's streamer friends.
Your phone dinged with more texts from Sapnap. The 2 of you have been texting more than dream and George which was an impressive feat.
Someone was running at George so you put your phone down and rushed over. Your baby brother hugged the child in a blue jacket so you slowed down next to them.
"It's TommyInnit!" George laughed.
"It's me and gogs!" TommyInnit said, looking over at the, barely taller than you, man in an outfit close to your brother's.
Your brother started talking about height to the kid, who was obviously taller than him, while you stood by Vikkstar. Who didn't know Vikkstar, honestly?
"I could clart you," Tommy said to George. You looked over with a raised brow. "You're going to do what to George?"
Tommy laughed loudly, looking over at Tall Guy who held the phone. "Brother Moment! They are farming the 'awwws' in chat."
Everyone started snickering and you cracked a smile too.

SappyNappy β‘

SappyNappy β‘

You look over at Tommy, who's rapidly talking to Wilbur (who had introduced himself a few minutes ago) about the Queen.
Waiting for a lull, you walked next to Tommy. When the perfect moment arrived, you quickly chimed in.
"Sapnap says you're a little bitch."
They pause for a full second before Wilbur bursts out laughing. Tommy starts cursing at the sky as if Sapnap is dead and not just in America.
George bumped your shoulder, a recently familiarized teasing grin on his lips. "Still texting Sapnap, huh?"
Bumping him back, your lips curled into a playful smile. "Still texting Dream?"
Tommy turned to you quickly, interrupting George's playful offence, a faux serious look on his face. "Call him right now."
Snickering you pulled up Sapnap's contact. It barely started ringing when he picked up.
"Hello?"
"YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" Tommy instantly yelled, furiously gesturing at the phone for dramatic effect.
Sapnap started laughing at Tommy, instantly picking up energy. His chaotic vibes mesh well and you chuckle even as you attract stares. Or the entire group does technically.
"What I would do to you if I had a knife," Tommy leered playfully.
Handing off your phone to him so that he could be clearer, you sat down by Wilbur.
They smiled at you, a sweet little thing. Plucking out a piece of grass, you relaxed into the motion of twisting them. Wilbur leans against your shoulder, his pretty brown curls brushing your shoulder softly.
Shifting gently to make it more comfortable, you continued tying together grass and dainty flowers. Tommy was splayed out in front of you now, eyes closed as he dazed in the sun. The cameras were off and things just seemed softer.
Wilbur shifted on your shoulder again. It seemed a tad bit uncomfortable to just lean like that when he was taller than you. Gingerly you lowered his head to your lap. They pressed their cheek against your thigh and settled down with a slow exhale.
Looping another flower in, you glanced down at Wilbur's slacken face. Briefly brushing your fingers in his hair, pushing it away from his eyes, you got caught up in how soft he looked when he was asleep.
Your phone buzzed with another text, probably from Sapnap, and your stomach twisted. Putting on your finished flower crown, you opened up your fun to scroll through the messages he sent you.
SappyNappy β‘

Wilbur groaned lightly, shuffling closer suddenly. You put your phone down quickly, brushing your hand through his hair soothingly. Wilbur settled a bit, leaning heavily into your hands.
The peace was broken only a few minutes later, a fan stumbling over with a meek voice for photos.
{γβγ}
After Tommy finished recording, you all, minus Vik, went over to George's for dinner. You started browsing food options on your phone as George showed them around.
It wasn't particularly interesting, your brother was modest at the best of times and downright minimalist at the worst. When you finished studying abroad and came back to it being basically bare, you spent hours dragging George around from store to store for him to only end up putting up half of the items you bought.
Leaning back against the counter, you pick an option absentmindedly. Sapnap hadn't messaged you since you got home, probably crashing on Dream's sofa again.
"So, what are we eating?" George asked, coming into the kitchen with one of your hoodies on. It was large on you and it was comically large on him. He gave you doe eyes and you were once again putty to your baby brother.
"Alfredo's Pizza CafΓ©, your favourite." You unsuccessfully smother a soft smile. George grins widely at you, leaning forward and bonking his head into your shoulder. You bonked him back gently.
He leans back, looking over his shoulder and grinning. "I should probably go back. God knows what they'll end up breaking when I'm not there." George turned back quickly. "Oh, make sure you get the breadsticks and ask for their good sauce, kay?"
You roll your eyes fondly. "Whatever, G."
George scrunched up his nose. "No one's called me that since middle school."
"Ah, the days when you actually used to exercise." You sigh fondly. George shoots you a dirty look as you giggle. He steps over the cord that spans the entrance to the sitting room and quickly the noise starts picking up.
It's rather easy to place the order but Stacy always loves holding you back to talk. Or, if you're being completely honest, blatantly flirt with you. You leave the phone on the counter as you pull out a bottle of pop from the fridge.
"I should probably go-"
"But we're having so much fun."
"my boyfriend just got out of the shower soβ yeah."
"Boyfriend?" She scoffed, disbelief dripping off her shrill voice. "Can I talk to him?"
"Well-"
"Hello, boyfriend here." Wilbur's voice shocks you, coming from the doorway. He grins at you, moving towards the phone. "Me and Y/N have a bit of a date night planned so if we could get on with that, I'd be most pleased."
"O-of course," She nervously laughs. Coughing, Stacy quickly speaks over your muffled laughter. "I'm getting another call so I should go too... Bye."
You look at Wilbur, your saviour who stands with a relaxed lean. His brown eyes sparkle with mischief and his grin even more so. It's thrilling, a look that promises things beyond your wildest imagination. "Am I your god or not?"
Biting your tongue is hard and even harder when a suddenly inhumanely handsome man is staring at you. You have never been gayer than in this moment. Swallowing back embarrassing thoughts you smile at him. "My saviour."
His ears flush, pale skin turning rosy under your gaze. His smile is wider, prouder and he fixes his posture up straight. Wilbur practically preens under your fond looks. It's like you just gave him an Oscar and named a star after him.
"Tired of annoying my brother?" You ask, leaning over the counter and giving him your undivided attention.
He grins wickedly, leaning towards you. "Gogy isn't as enticing as Dream sees him."
Time seems to go by so quickly when you're chatting with Wilbur. His odd jokes and little faces were absolutely adorable. The doorbell ring barely manages to break through Wilbur's giggly laughter. It's like bells, gentle and sweet and you can't get enough of it.
"Y/N can you get the door?" George yells towards you. Like always, you do what he asks and gather up your money for the pizza. Wilbur trails after, a relaxing presence for a slightly anxious meeting with a stranger at the door.
You hand off the pizza to Wilbur when you pay for it, giving basic pleasantries before you close the door.
You patted Wilbur's arm as you passed him to the kitchen. "Thanks for the help, boyfriend."
Wilbur's eyes shone with mirth. "No problem, boyfriend."
{γβγ}
Time passed quickly as everyone gathered around the table. Before you even knew it, the sun was setting.
All of you were sat around the couch, George right next to you in the corner with Tommy in the other corner and Wilbur sitting on the floor leaning against it. It was nice to have a little quiet moment after everything that happened today.
"I reckon I could take him," Tommy added suddenly as the next episode of Lucifer played.
Wilbur scoffed, tilting his head back to roll his eyes visibly at Tommy. "You would die instantly like the child you are."
"That is pussy talk, Wilbur. I am simply too massive, I am." Tommy leans over to George to jab him with his elbow playfully. "I would evade all his attack like a super spy."
"Bullshit," Wilbur chuckles. "You literally have the stamina of a three year old."
"A very fit three year old," Tommy nodded along. "Like a-, a super powered three year old. The kind that could clart you."
With an airy laugh, Wilbur flicked Tommy's forehead. You nudged George with a wild grin and he nudged you back.
"I bet I could knock him easily." You pretended to whispher to George.
He nodded along, sporting a mean grin. "Easily."
Tommy squawked out protests before he broke out in laughter. It was a fun moment even if this was a new chaos to you.
George was obviously comfortable with it though and he leaned into your side as Lucifer kept playing. You fiddled with his hair, brushing your hands through it leisurely.
As the episode ended, Wilbur's phone started ringing. George blinked away the sleep that was tugging at him, although Tommy was less successful with that. He looked up briefly before going back to snuggling himself in the covers.
"Sorry 'bout that," Wilbur hushedly said before pulling his shoes on quickly and heading out the door. You patted George until he calmed down before you stood up slowly. Stepping outside quietly, you were only a few steps away from Wilbur who was just ending his call.
"Oh, hey," he said waving slightly. "Excellent timing actually I was just gonna head inside to tell you I was heading off."
"So, you're leaving?" You didn't mean to phrase it as a question but part of you was hoping for a no. "I thought you were all sleeping over for the weekend?"
Wilbur shook his head, a small smile quirked on his lips. "I'll be back tomorrow but I have to head back home because I have a last-minute meeting with my office manager. Why? You gonna miss me?"
You fumble over your words, brushing a piece of your hair out of your eyes. With a click, you shut your jaw and shrug. "Maybe."
Wilbur softens visibly, his ears flushing just enough for you to notice. Then he met your eyes, looking somehow ethereal in the backlighting of the moon. Stars reflected in his glasses, Wilbur seemed untouchable. Their soft curls moved with the wind for a moment and it was a brilliant shock of your eyes staring at one another.
With a quick hand, Wilbur had already taken a single piece of napkin paper out of his pocket and a pen. Jotting something down quickly, he took your hand in his and slowly unfurled your fingers. With a lingering touch, he put the paper on your hand.
You stood there slightly dazed as Wilbur pressed a piece of paper, his phone numberβ, into your hands. He winked with a coy smile, "See you around, handsome."
You nodded back, tongue-tied. As he walked off, you felt completely flustered. Heading back inside, George was waiting for you on the couch, blinking sleep out of his eyes.
"Tommy knocked out soooo... movie night?" He offered.
You sighed. "Are you gonna ask to watch the fourth one first again?"
"...No?" George nervously laughed, rubbing at his neck.
"Just put in on, bubba." You were a weak, weak man when it came to your brother. George gave you an adorable little grin and you melted. He wrapped an arm around you and tucked himself into your side.

Burn π
(699 words :) )
(He/him pronouns)
Description: You are burning your house down. Before you do, you and your father have a chat.
[Rest of the story under the cut.]
{γβγ}
You stare at your door, running a hand down the carved spruce wood. You had spent hours carving it, carving a family of foxes into it. Three of them. One, the largest, watching down on the second and third as the poets guitar lay by its feet. The little foxes play, rough housing with one another. You close your eyes and turn away.
He's there. He watches you with a lopsided smile when you open your eyes again, lips twisted at the edges in that dissimilar way you hated and loved. He is a dillusional phantom of your father, one who watches with the same burning eyes. "Are you really going to burn it down? Your legacy gone, just like that?"
It's like the world watches with bated breath for your answer, a quiet ringing in your ears as he just stand there. You curl your fingers into fists around your flint & steel, breathing in deeply. The air feels like fire in your lungs, weighing you down. "You know better than anyone I never cared about my legacy."
He laughs, a hand on your shoulder in a phantom grip of a proud hold. "The only thing you ever cared about was him." He agreed, his hand falling back to his side. "You'll do what it takes to keep him safe."
"He told me once," You start, a quivering thing in your voice that you hate with more than yourself. Your delusion stands next to you, tilting his head and leaning back against your porch railing. "He called you an Icarus. You flew too close to the sun."
He hums thoughtfully, "I was obsessed with my legacy. I didn't care what I had to do to keep it intact." Quieter, he admits words that only your hallucination will ever admit to you. "I didn't care if I lost you to keep my legacy."
"Your sentences bordered on senseless." You say, knuckles white as you hold the flint. A part of you is ready to get it over with, to rid the world of your reaction. "You were so paranoid, every time I saw you. Driving yourself insane faster than anyone could help."
"You and him were the only thing keeping me sane for a while. After I lost you, I lost it all. And then I lost myself." He admits. If this were real, you think you'd burst into tears. But it isn't, it's what you want to hear. You think you hate it more than hearing anything else. "I was scared of how they'd perceive me."
"Now I'm burning my house down." Its the hard truth. The reality of your actions slamming into you suddenly, like they were just thought before you spoke them into existence. It's funny, in a twisted way. "Let the world wonder how Y/N reacted when you broke his heart. I deserve to keep that to myself. Youβ the world doesn't deserves to know... It doesn't."
"Are you trying to tell me or convince me?" He laughs, brushing past you. He rests his palm on the door, brushing a gentle thumb over the guarding fox. "Go on then. Burn it down. Burn down our memories."
"I will." You say, stepping closer. The door is locked shut, photos and letters arranged in boxes in your room never to be seen again. Burning all the letters that might've redeemed him. The photos of who he was before, a father, a brother, a poet. "I will."
"Take the final step, Y/N," Wilbur chuckles, standing right by your side as your trembling hand lingers so close to drenched wood. "Burn the world down, my little soldier."
The fire catches quickly. Right in front of your eyes the family of foxes wilts and blackened flames scar any remnants of your work. With an echoing chuckle, your father fades from view and leaves nothing but soot on your face and a fire burning in front of your eyes.
"I hope that you burn." You whispher through a choked fog. Your house burn quickly and the smoke clogs up your lungs. You laugh as snot runs down your face and tears well up in your eyes.
And you burned too.

(1000+ words)
Description: You need some time away from your Dad and Phil. Luckily for you, you know a place open for visitors constantly. (Platonic Tommy x Reader)
[Read the rest under the cut]
{γβγ}
The rain seemed to pick up as you flew away from your dad's house. The rain got heavy, heavier than you could safely fly in, as you got closer and closer to the main area of the Dream SMP.
You pulled your wings close to your body and started a quick descent towards the ground, eyes dead set on one block. Only a few feet above the ground, with the wind whipping past you, you snapped your wings out and you landed to a minor stumble over the prime path.
Tommy's hotel stood, looming in front o you. The bright red walls stained a darker red as the rain hit every second. You took a deep breath in, solidifying your resolve before you started towards the door. It was unlocked, opening and inviting you to spend a night. It was certainly better than spending the night outside in the rain.
An android sat at the reception, staring right at you unblinking with its very adorable racoon ears twitching softly. They gave you a very robotic version of a smile, nodding politely. "WELCOME TO THE TOMMYINNIT HOTEL. WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET A ROOM?"
You nod, looking over the hotel for the first time. Your dad had told you before to stay away and you had listened, ignoring every piece of mail inviting your family to go over. But nowhere you were, for the first time going against your father's explicit directions because you felt... confused? Concerned, even. You weren't entirely sure what you were feeling besides anxious.
What if Tommy took one look at you and told you to leave and never come back. He wouldn't, you knew he wouldn't. But what if?
Tommy's head poked out from the floor, his eyes over the edge just enough for you to spot the glittering blue. Your heart stops for a second, terrified. "...Y/N?"
"TomTom," You blurted before you could, using that silly nickname you made up when you were kids. Your wings puffed up around you just thinking back to those days. "Hey..."
Tommy climbed out of the floor, which was really just a small entrance to a basement now that you could see. His face was more bruised than you remembered, blotched over his nack and face. His smile is more of a smirk, a fond lift to the edges. "TomTom? You haven't called me that since you were 8. "
You laughed at your own mistake, finding it amusing how Tommy thinks he was better. "Yeah? Remember when you called me Chip every day."
Tommy cringed, the memories of his adorable babbling about you being a cookie came back to him. Those four years were amusing to everyone except him, apparently. He shook the memories off and quirked his head at you. "That's not important right now. Why are you here?"
You shrugged a bit awkwardly, trying not to drag your slightly wet wings on the floor.Β "I thought it'd be nice to finally spend a night here. You opened it a few weeks ago, right?"
"Close enough." Tommy shrugged, looking away from you. Tommy mumbled something so you leaned closer to hear him. "...didn't think...Β come..."
"What?"
"I didn't think anyone would come," Tommy admitted louder, shuffling his feet in place. "I mean, Techno and Phil have been avoiding me like the plauge so I thoughtβ ya know?"
You inhaled a bit sharply, biting your cheek. "They don't know I'm here. Dad would probably have my head if he found out. And... I was. Going to avoid this place, I mean. But things change and I, well, I missed you."
Tommy turned his head away, his shoulders shaking. For a second you though he was going to start yelling and fighting. But then he started laughing, a bit hysterical and wet and trembling. He was crying, you realized as he wiped at his tears desperately.
"I'm sorry," he choked out. "Its just, I feel like since I've came back that no one even cares. But you're heβre and... I'm sorry I'm just being stupid."
You crooned sadly, your wings ruffling to shake off water before you pulled a wing over Tommy. He relaxed back into your wing, pressing a hand to the feathers hesitantly. You warbled soothingly, pressing your wing closer to him. The urge to care, to heal, to protect your human, your family, your flock, it was strong and you could barely stop yourself from preening his hair.
"No, no... I'm sorry I didn't visit sooner." You said, leaning your forehead against his shoulder. You wrapped another wing around Tommy and let out a shaky breath. "Dad's gone crazy protective after you left. Almost had to fight him to let me visit Tubbo as much as I do."
Tommy laughed dryly, leaning against you. "That sounds like Techno. Even when we were kids he hardly let us do anything without him with us, remember?"
You let out an exaggerated groan. "He was the absolute worst. Remember when he'd follow us around school thinking no one saw him and we got called into the office because they thought he was stalking us?"
Tommy laughs at the memory. That village lasted about a year before you guys were on the road again. Going to school there wasn't the worst, but they certainly weren't like the nicer villagers near Hypixel's hub.
Tommy goes silent, staring at a random spot in the hotel, lost in thought. Quietly, he asks you. "Does Techno everβ does he miss me? I mean, I know I betrayed him and I'mβI am sorry about that but..."
"He wouldn't say it, but I know he does." You say back, just as softly. "You were close to him, Toms. You still are. You're his brother. Nothing, not even the war, could change that."
He sniffs, shaking his head softly. "Look at you, acting all grow 'n shit. Just yesterday you were all snotty and whiny about sleeping with your favourite blanket." He laughs wetly, resting his head against yours. "When did everything go to shit..."
"I dunno," You say, closing your eyes. "I don't know."

Description: After an argument with your brother, King Eret, you sneak out of the castle. During your adventure you meet three odd, wonderful boys. (Platonic Eret + Benchtrio x M!Reader)
[Read the rest under the cut]
{γβγ}
Eret sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers. His quill (how old school) is dropped to the side, staining a random piece of parchment and the edges of his sleeves. "For the last time, Y/N, you cannot attend dinner with King August."
"Why not?" You asked, not for the first time.
"Because you're too young. We're trying to discuss a peace treaty and I can't trust you not to ruin it." Eret is blunt, finally pulling his sleeve out of the wet ink splotch and grimacing. They look into your eyes, an uncomfortable feeling really, and their expression softens. "I really wish you could be there but this dinner is not a thing we can risk. Our borders are being contested so if we want this to end peacefully-"
"I can't be around to mess it up," You cut in blithely, managing to keep a smile on your face even as your brother's fell. "Got it. Well then, I'll be in my room, making no noise and pretending I don't exist."
Eret looks older suddenly, more exhausted as they lose their words before they can even grasp them. It leaks out of every pore, staining his stare blank and deepening the bags beneath his eyes. You've never seen a person lose so much life so quickly, nonetheless he doesn't say anything as you turn. Even as you linger in the hallway, the door stays shut and so you don't let the stares of Raven and Katrina weigh you down even as every step feels like a mile.
{γβγ}
You want some sweets. Not the ones in the castle, salted more than sweetened since that's what Eret likes, but the ones from the outskirts of the kingdom where the best sweets are smuggled from "L'Manchildburg". Normally, you'd just ask Eret to send you off with Sara or Kori but for obvious reasons you refused to do so.
In vindictive anger, you stepped out of your room despite whatever wordless promise you had made. There were no guards, an oversight really but it was an oversight that would be saving you some trouble. With quick hands, you push the large painting on the wall to the side and pressed your thumb to the sharp pointed thimble.
Blood dripped onto the metal and soaked into it, glowing a faint gold glow. The walls shifted, opening to long, large corridors of stone carved to perfection. Simple cracks layered the sides and you traced where Eret had carved both of your initials as a marker, running through the halls with you, getting lost and trying not to cry. You pulled away, something bitter lodged in your throat.
The labyrinth was made by your father as a gift for Eret's obtained kingship. Herobrine was not an amazing father but no one can say he does not try.
Quick steps forward, ignoring the way the walls shift in place as they read your intentions, making way to the capital. More specifically it seemed, a dimly lit alleyway with a knocked over trash can resting at you feet. The wall clicked shut behind you, lines smoothing away and melting back into brick walls.
The road was slanted, an odd sort of tension to going down and a struggle to walk up but you've walked it so many times that getting the perfect footing was practically automatic. The restaurants littering the sides were fairly loud for the daytime, doors caught wide open for any customer to step into. You distract yourself with catching the new prices for entering, a few dollars up for the steak-house but three dollars down for the pub. Easily enough, you're standing at the top.
This area is flatter, easier to walk, but it goes down long enough that you'd end up going in circles for hours and still not seeing everything it had to offer. A passing street musician plays a bit louder for you but you step past quicker, they'd never stop bothering you if you showed any interest, though you admit that they had an excellent voice.
Turning a corner, you stepped into a familiar cafΓ©. A red-tie* owned sweets shop ran by Niki, a nice lady who had dual citizenship somehow. It had a nice atmosphere despite that, soft lighting handing from the ceiling with vines tangled with the cord. High top tables pushed against the wall, beanbags pushed into a corner near some plants, a front counter wide enough to sit and eat at.
It's nice, not overly colourful but with enough plants and throw pillows to break up the monotony. You took a seat at the counter, brushing off a few crumbs leftover by a past customer. "Niki! You here?"
A soft laugh from behind you, "It's my cafΓ© of course I am."
You spin the chair, leaning back against the counter. "Just thought I'd ask," You spin again as she steps behind the counter. "Are you still serving (f/s)?"
"Of course," Niki laughs again, a teasing little smile on her face. "I wouldn't be your favorite cafe if I didn't."
"Mighty confident there, Niki," You press your lips together but it can't stop your smile from growing. "What if I liked that one cafΓ© on Oreli street better?"
Niki gasp, exaggerated and scandalized. "You wouldn't dare."
"Oh but I would," You are openly smiling now, a bit of an ache in your cheek that's not really helping. "Maybe I should go there nowβ"
"Enough teasing," Niki rest her hands on her hips, still smiling. "Do you want your (f/s) or not?"
"I do, thanks Niki," You shamelessly laugh. "As many a you've got, actually."
"You're going to dry out your pockets before the festival even starts!" The reminder makes you brighten up, even as Niki shakes her head fondly. Racking her knuckles across the kitchens shared wall, she calls out. "Ranboo, we need (f/s) please."
A small crash sounded from the kitchen, followed by skidding as the door was cracked open the barest amount, a half-white half-black enderman staring blearily at the ground. With a lighter colour face, they blurted out an vague noise of agreement and ducked back through the door.
Niki looked over at you and you looked at her. After a comically long time, she sighed and wiped her hands on a towel. "I have to go check on him don't I."
"It is your cafΓ©," You nodded along, tipping your chair back a bit. "I will just wait here andβ!"
Niki reached over and strong-armed you over the counter. "Nope, if I have to deal with it, so do you,"
You grumble as she let's you walk around the counter. Glancing at each other, you take the first step in.
The organized neatness of the cafΓ© is ruined by the disaster that was the kitchen. The counters were cluttered with messy pots and pans, cartons of milk tilted and spilling onto the floor with egg shells broken into hundreds of tiny pieces beneath your feet. Dishes were pilled high in the large sinks, including some extras sat in relatively neat stacks by the spilled milk. A pile of mud sits on a plate, smudge marks that were probably made by someone liking it. You really don't wanna know.
"Niki, I know what it looks like," The ram-boy says slowly, backing into a taller but more scrawny avian-boy. "But I have a good reason for what happened."
"Oh yeah," With her hands on her hips and raised brows, Niki briefly entertained the ram-boy. Mistake number one. "Okay, what happened?"
"Uhm, DISTRACTION!" They screamed, immediately sprinting for the back door. At the same time the avian boy screeched incomprehensible noises with garbled curses and uselessly flapped their wings to the door. With a startled gasp, Niki accidentally pushed you towards the half-white half-back enderman hybrid who startles a yelp and everything twists.
You fall to the floor, head fuzzyΒ with black dots like flickering lights. Someone cursed above you, reaching down to pull you to a stand. "Look what you did, Ranβbow."
"It's Ran-boo," Another voice, deeper and squeakier than the other voice at the same time. "But they fell onto me!"
"No one's allowed to fall for you except me!" A third voice said indignantly with a small air of humour, a large stomp like a tantrum knocking you more on whoever picked you up. "We should just leave them here before Niki finds us."
"She'd be even angrier if we left her friend here alone like this," The deep voice said, attempting to reason with the angry voice. The person holding you tightens their grip at the thought, holding you up a bit more. "So please, can we not."
"Fine, for Niki," The angry voice pouts, loudly dropping to the floor. "Can I draw on their face while they're asleep?"
"No, Tubbo, you can't draw a penis on their face." Deep voice guy sighed, sounding like your brother whenever you prank Lord Dream (as if you don't do it everytime he visits).
"Aww man."
You blink, murky colours still flooding your visions but focusing more with every blink. You're leaning against a tall blond in a red and white shirt, his bony shoulder digging into your cheek as you lean against him. "What's going on?"
Your attempt at comprehensible words was mediocre at best, but you'll suppose it's good enough. Looking at the hybrid who teleported you there, a second wave of nausea comes tumbling out of your mouth.
As everyone scurries back, your yanked by the avian hybrid who had yet to let you go. Bringing your hand upon to wipe at spit and your half-digested lunch, you finally feel normal again. Pulling away from the avian, who happily let's you with a grumbled "Ew," at your throw up trail, you stand up tall and try to regain any respect your sickness had thrown away. "Well that was kind of rude."
You cringe, the voice of your brother reprimanding you in spirit. But the avian and ram start giggling to each other, making deep mocking voices of your words at the enderman hybrid. "C'mon guys, I already said it wasn't my fault!"
When he turns to you, he bows his head low, "I'm so sorry for teleporting you. Tubbo's told me it really sucks when you're not an enderman. I'm really sorry!"
"It's... fine," You shrug, grimacing at the taste of your own stomach fluids coating your teeth. "I mean, it wasn't intentional so no harm, no foul."
"See, Boo, you're fine!" The ram pats their shoulder with a bit of difficultyβyou think their name is Tubbo so the other would be Ranbooβ and dusting off their pants as they stand up. "I'm Tubbo!"
"I'm Y/N," You take the offered hand, trying to replicate your brother's strong handshake. Tubbo giggles despite the effort, his grip turning into Iron as well. It's almost a contest between you two. Who has the stronger hand grip?
Sadly, you've come to a loss and Tubbo whoops with victory. Turning to the avian, you stick your hand out. "Nice to meet you, chicken boy. I'm Y/N."
"I am not a fucking chicken! I don't even look like a chicken!" If he was an actual animal, you'd imagine it'd look like he had rabies. Foaming at the mouth with anger, chittering aggressively and non-stop. "Fuck you man! I'm not a chicken."
"Alright, alright, my bad." You backtrack quickly, hands raised in a placating motion. "I would like to know your name though chiβregular boy."
The avian gave you the stink eye, "The name's Tommy Innes! And don't call me that either." They set their hands on their hips in a close imitation of Niki. "You're a right prick."
"I prefer the words 'difficult to handle', it's a lot easier to read on your report card, ya know?" Suddenly you cringe again, the reminder of your brother's face when you did read it to him coming back to haunt you. Fixing your posture, you stick your hand out again after putting it down. "Nice to meet you."
Tommy takes your hand, his hands surprisingly calloused. "Your introduction was shit."
{γβγ}
You don't exactly remember why you followed them or why they let you follow them, all you remember is the exciting feeling of truly enjoying yourself, feeling light with every step, your face aching from smiling so hard and your stomach twisted with laughter. It was nice, so incredibly nice.
All good things must come to an end eventually though and the sound of trumpets sounding in the streets scare the shit out of you.
"Fuck," You curse through a handful of marshmallow Tommy had given you. "Fuck, shit, fuck, fuck, fuuuuuck."
"What's wrong?" Tubbo asks, strangely concerned. "Are you okay?"
"The King is on his way," You say as you try chewing quicker. The taste of too many marshmallows stick to your tongue, the taste stuck between your teeth and caught in your throat. It tastes like air now. "He's probably already here."
"What's wrong with that?" Tommy asks, face serious and lips drawn to an aggressive sneer. "Is he bothering you? I swear if he's messing with youβ"
"No, Prime no," You say, louder than planned. "He's not, it's just, I can't be found by him."
"Are you sureβ?" Ranboo starts, cut off by the noise of clattering metal and horse steps. Whirling around quickly, you're already done for. Too many soldiers to evade surround you, practically boxing you into the bench you're sitting at.
"Your majesty, we've found him," A soldier calls out, one hand resting on their holster as they watch you all. "Three unidentified subjects around him, all equipped."
You whirl back to look at them and wow is it a sight. Your new buddies, the practically harmless friends you've madeβTubbo cried when he killed a beeβ are all wearing full netherite armour, sharp blades than you've ever wielded in their hands. "Guys...?"
"Y/N, get behind us," Tubbo says, eyes hidden by the helmets shadow. Something about his voice frightens you, but yet still being near him isn't scary. You aren't scared of him hurting you. For some reason you trust them all not to. But still...
Your brother steps up and you sink a bit, following Tubbos directions and hiding in hopes he somehow magically forgets about you in the next three seconds.
"Y/N, you said you'd be in your room." Eret says with an infuriatingly level voice. It is like the moon is dipping the sunset, cusping their back just enough for the light to shine down and flare around your brother, truly a king fit to rule the world. "Honestly I don't know what I expected from you."
You feel embarrassment claw at your throat, fighting with the rage in your stomach and suddenly you feel the urge to hurl. Tommy is at your side, one hand holding their sword up and the other offering a sort of protection for you. The consequence though, that is what paralyzes you.
"Your royal highness, please end this foolishness. We do not wish to harm your friends." A soldier calls, a beckoning hand outstretched as if you're a frightened animal awaiting rescuing.
Another wave of anger bubbles over you, pushing your embarrassment to your heels to be dragged with. "You dare threaten my friends. They have done anything you didn't force them to."
"Those are Mud Trackers**," Eret spits out, though the words don't surprise you. "Tommy Innit, Tubbo Underscore, Ranboo Beloved, all of them fought against us."
"You were one of them once too," You yell back but still there is a disconnect when Tommy flinches next to you. The truth is out. You are royalty and they are the tentatively neutral country, enemies forged through blood. They could have killed your brother and your brother could have killed them. You don't know whatever history that is hiding in Eret's anger but neither side are taking it well. "Stop taking your anger at me on them! If you're gonna fight anyone, fight me!"
The thought makes your brother step back, face falling into the first emotion you've seen on his face. Guilt. "I'm not going to fight you, and if you return I'm not going to fight them either."
"What if I dont," You say and there is a clenched hurt that comes with those words. "Will you kill them?"
"No, you know I wouldn't Y/N," Your brother says and it is softer, quieter. Eret sighs, crown tipped and without the sunlight he is just as inhuman as you, pain written into the curve of his frown.Β "Please just come home."
Tommy looks over at you and they are still angry even as they put their sword away. "Go fix this. If you need us, you know how to find us."
Not-quite-relief washes down your throat at Tommy's words. Ranboo and Tubbo keep their weapons but they too step back. Looking over at your brother, you walk with all the grace embued in your lineage, chin held high. As you greet Eret, he pulls you into a hug.
"I was so worried, Y/N," he mutters, arms wrapped around your shoulders as you burrow into his chest. "I'm sorry for being a dick. Please never do that again,"
"Okay," You manage to say, muffled in your brother's shirt. "But you are still kinda being a dick."
"Okay, I'll do better," He says, quiet and true. "Let's go home."
Before he can stop you, you pull away. Turning back to your friends, you wave, "I'll see you again soon, bye."
Ranboo waves back but Tommy and Tubbo look at each other and just nod. "Bye."
Eret doesn't say anything to your friends but there is something horribly sad in their smile. Maybe they had more history than just fighting, who knows. He turns to you, outstretched hand waiting for you. You take it easier than before. It isn't great, but it's something.

Description: Tommy's been stealing flowers from your garden for weeks. Today though, you finally catch him in the act. (Platonic Tommy x Reader)
[Read the rest under the cut]
{γβγ}
Tommy shuffles down the street, dragging his feet across to kick a random stone. It skids just out of reach so he moves on, wrapping his hands around the straps of his backpack in that way movies always depicted nerdy kids. In a way, it fit.
The garden on his way to Wilbur's is empty, devoid of human life like it is every time Tommy walks up to it. The little chain link fence isn't good at keeping out people but he imagines that it had to be good for something since there aren't any dogs chewing on leaves. His foot fits into a hole and he pushes himself on top and jumps a bit to land perfectly.
He bend down, dirt and rips already staining his relatively new pair of jeans. There are blue hyacinths next to a array of purple flowers that he can't name even as he plucks a few of both.
Tying them together with a strand of blue ribbon, he carefully puts them in his backpack. Throwing it over his shoulder, reaching back awkwardly to fit it over his other, something rattles the door to the garden and Tommy throws himself forward to climb the fence. Too late, he thinks as someone's hand wraps around his ankle. "Let goβ!"
"Not until you come down!" You yell back, tired lines under your eyes. You were waiting for him, he realizes. "You're going to break your leg trying to jump!"
"Then let go!" He tugs at his leg but for just a moment he loses balance and gives up on his pants to curl his fingers around the metal tug himself up. In his panic he kicked you in the face. Good, he thinks vindictively.
You tug harder and Tommy is wailing as his arms reach out to stop the impact. His palms burn, arms aching with the impact still ringing in his bones.
"Shit kid," You had jumped back when he fell but now you're kneeling at his side, face twisted like it's torn between helping or not. Tommy doesn't even care, instantly scrambling to make sure the flowers in his backpack are safe. To his great relief, the flower petals are only slightly smushed.
"Just go away," Tommy says, pulling his backpack to his chest, watching you with narrowed eyes. "I haven't been doing anything wrong."
"You've been stealing my flowers," You chide softly, frowning as you stood up. Taking him in for a second, you sigh, putting out a hand to help him stand. "Alright, let's go then."
"What?" Tommy knows his face probably looks like he bit a lemon but honestly it's a fair reaction. "Uh?"
"I want to make sure the girl is pretty enough to warrant flower theft." You say, crossing your arms when Tommy stand on his own. He puts his arm through the backpack strap slowly, staring down at his shoes. This is a... fairly odd situation he's in now.
"I have a feeling you won't let me leave if I don't bring you with me," Tommy says, grimacing at your determined nod. This was going to be awkward. He's never really brought anyone to see Wilbur before, not besides Tubbo and Ranboo. "Alright, let's go then."
You unlock the gate, pulling a key out of your pocket like you knew Tommy would break. Together, and that is such an odd thought, you start walking. You're a few paces ahead even though Tommy's supposed to be leading but he's too busy holding the flowers gingerly, careful not to knock any petals off, to care where you are.
"So," You start, probably uncomfortable in the silence that had been following you both. "What's her name?"
"His name is Wilbur," Tommy awkwardly starts, unsure of how to broach the fact that they're definitely not dating.
"That's a nice name," You say without skipping a beat. Not homophobic then, that's nice. "Does he like those flowers or did you pick at random?"
"Hyacinths were his favourite but I always bring him blue so I thought purple would shake things up," Tommy shrugs, glancing up at your approving look before scowling down at his flowers. Well, technically yours butβ doesn't matter they're his now.
"Those are lavender," You slow down next to him, pointing at the pretty flowers that wrap around the hyacinths. "But you also have a few small alliums. They're the circle ones, right there."
"They're pretty," Tommy says softly and now that he's thinking the allium is kinda familiar. Ranboo had given him one when they first met. He had it pressed between a book somewhere. "I'm sure Wil's gonna like them."
"Do you bring him flowers every weel?" You ask, side-by-side. looking over the bouquet.
Tommy nods because he always takes flowers from your garden so you probably already knew. "II like to keep him looking nice. If he's surrounded by dead flowers it just gets sad."
You tilt your head in confusion but shrug. it goes silent for a minute before Tommy sees large metal gates., pulled open wide and ever-daunting. "Ready to meet him?"
"We're at a graveyard." You bring up, skittish like Tommy can't tell where he is. You do look pretty disgruntled though so Tommy doesn't take it to heart. "do you and Wil hang around graveyards often?"
Tommy just wordlessly guides you along, hearing leaves crunch as you slowly follow. In a few minutes of silence, minutes you try to fill by asking questions that Tommy can't answer. Then you are standing by a polished grave and Tommy plucks a few offending weeds off the carved stone. pulling the wilting flowers out of the glass vase and replacing them with the new ones, making sure the ribbon stays on nice and pretty.
"Oh," You say and when Tommy looks back at you, you're lips are pressed together into a tight line, brows furrowed with tension. "I didn't realize..."
He shrugs, wordlessly turning back to Wil. "Hey Wil, this is Y/N, I've been stealing flowers from their garden for you. They're... alright, I suppose. I think you two would've gotten along, probably."
"Hello Wilbur," You start slowly, moving to kneel down next to Tommy. "I meet Tommy like 20 minutes ago but I've already gotten tired of him." Tommy rolls his eyes with a smile. "Tommy told me you liked Hyacinths, they're nice flowers. You have good taste."
"I still think the alliums are better," Tommy chimed in, leaning forward to brush a hand against the stone. He softens his words, speaking quietly to the heaviness in the air that haunts him. "But I guess you do have pretty good taste."
You put a hand on Tommy's shoulder, squeezing with a silent apology. He nods, feeling slightly choked. After Wilbur's death, the whole family took it hard. Phil started putting crazy hours into working, Technoblade went on another fencing tour (which he hasn't done in years), and at this point, Tommy's the only one who lives in the empty two-story house. Until you joined him, he can say with certainty that he was the only one who visited Wilbur. No one's held him since it happened, not until your slightly awkward one-arm hold on his shoulder, comfort and burn.
"Two weeks," You say and Tommy turns to you, slightly confused. "That's how long you've been stealing flowers from me, two weeks. Is that...?"
"Yeah," Tommy says and this time his voice is watery. God, he should've just told you to fuck off. Now he's going to look like a mess. "I try to visit him every day. I don't want him to feel lonely without me or some shit."
"You're a good kid," You say, rubbing a circle into his shoulder. You look back at the flowers and grimace, "I'd like it if you didn't steal my flowers but I'm not going to report anything. Not to your parents or the police. It can be our secret."
"He would've liked you," Tommy says before he can stop himself. His ears burn and it's not just with the cold. "You're a good person and... Wilbur would probably be in love with your garden."
"If he's anything like you, I'd probably like him too." You look over at him, probably spotting his embarrassed flush. You stand, holding a hand out to help him and he takes it. "It's pretty cold out, kid. Let's go get some hot cocoa, my treat."
"Okay," He says and it's with a relief he can't understand. "Goodbye Wil."

[1500+]
[gender-neutral]
Description: You're a priest for Lady Death when you kinda... accidentally... refuse to let the grim reaper claim a soul.
[Read the rest under the cut]
You were raised within a church worshipping Lady Death, who you have always cherished. You have always been told you should never fear death, as it is only natural, it is an unstoppable force. Or, that's what they told you when you had caughten the Withering Effect, a terminal disease with no known cure.
Of course, you had agreed. This has been written in Lady Death's plans far before you knew how to speak, this is your natural course, fear would stop nothing.
Now, facing off an angel, whose darkened black wings you've only seen in portraits, with golden hair and narrowed eyes like from the sculptures. Sir Philza, Lady Death's most beloved angel, has come to take a soul and you refuse to let it happen.
Behind you is a young boy, with similar golden hair and pure sky blue eyes, now watery as they cower and clutch at your robes. He is sickly pale, he is so young.
"Sir Philza," Your voice does not quiver, which surprises you because bravery has never been a title of yours. "I beg of you, do not take this young soul from us. I will offer you anything."
"Even your soul," His eyes, icy blue daggers, cling to your face, to your eyes. They see too much, you feel naked, you don't look away. "It is only natural for disturbing nature so."
"If that is the price, let it be so," You kneel, still keeping the young boy behind you. "I will pay any dues."
Sir Philza looks over you, dancing over every relaxed muscle with a fine-toothed comb, as if searching for any fear. You cannot show it, you will not let the young boy die having lived such an empty life. His eyes aren't icy anymore, there is something substantial in them when he looks at you, as if your choice was respectable instead of ruinous. "I shall accept no soul today. It is my boon to you."
"You are a generous lord, Sir," You stay on your knee, head dipped to your chest. "And what is it you wish instead?"
"I shall accompany you until you die. I wish to see why it is you live soβ¦" Sir Philza's lips audibly pucker, "Interestingly. I can't imagine this is a common occurrence."
"As you wish, Sir," You try to take as stealthy of a deep breath as you can, disbelieving that you had succeded in your insane actions.

You had arrived at the temple with Sir Philza and Tommy, who had insisted on joining you to protect you from Sir Philza, who has firmly cemented himself in the young boy's head as evil. Having brought Sir Philza along with you, your fellow priests had spoken only politely to you, with none of their usual casual speech, as if you were a Saint instead of their friend, It all felt so alienating.
Sir Philza has been shadowing you since and with Tommy's health rapidly getting better, he also followed you around. It was only after a week did Sir Philza seem inclined to inform you that Tommy had the magical attunement to become a Saint to Lady Death.
Of course, you had told Tommy, who insisted on doing morning and afternoon prayers with you to see if Lady Death could stop what he called "the dying of your light" which Sir Philza pleasantly translated as Tommy seeing your soul dying. Truly heartening.
"Sir Philza," You took the time to initiate a conversation with the angel at least once a day, both from obligation and curiosity, "How long have you been collecting souls for Lady Death, our records are unclear."
"I'm not quite sure," Sir Philza paused, "I was born very early, far before any other angel could recall. I must at least be half a million years old at this point."
"Oh," You can't say you expected a number that large.
"Wow, you're old," Tommy chimes in unhelpfully. "You're like a grandpa. Grandpa Phil."
Sir Philza smiles, every day he seems to become more endeared to Tommy, and now he positively beams, "I am a grandpa, so I suppose you're allowed to call me as such, young saint." He looks far more pleased than he pretends.
"I wasn't aware angels could have children," You say before Tommy can disrespect the powerful angel more. "Are you the exception or should I fix our records."
"A little of both," Sir Philza doesn't need to think for this one, "It's completely possible but since most of our children are born mortal, angels don't bother. So, I'm definitely an exception to something."
"And were they?" You blurt before you can stop yourself. You cough, "Mortals, Human I mean."
"Yes," Sir Philza looks down at Tommy, who looks considerably more bored as he starts stacking and breaking towers of books. His face is wound tightly in pain, "My son was born mortal, as was my grandchild. I--," his breath catches, "I killed him myself."
"Oh," You weren't sure what you were expecting. Then, your wounds flare and you grunt, "My apologies for asking such a thing."
"It's no bother," Sir Philza laughs it off. He is a very kind person, you've found out. He is polite even though he's of such a high status, cares for humanity, and adores children. He is more human than some people you've met, even as an angel. "How has your daily prayers going," His eyes curve as he smiles, "I imagine Tommy is a delight so early in the morning."
'You sigh heavily, "Do not get me started, Sir Philza. I'm beginning to think he is an imp not a saint."
He laughs, "Oh yes, I can imagine. Were it not for my aversion to mornings, I'd join you just for the sight."
"You don't need to see it to know," You gesture your hands as you talk, "Every priest in the temple is talking of the newest way Saint Tommy's disrupted morning prayers. Most find it endearing but Sir Marshall has written multiple strongly worded letters, none of which Tommy had bothered to read."
"I read some of them," Tommy protested, "But he uses too many long words and they get boring quickly."
"That's fair, young saint," Sir Philza ruffles Tommy's hair, "If I read every letter sent to me, I would also stop reading them all at some point."
"Sir Philza," You stay, scandalized. Then your stomach feels inclined to rearrange itself and your vision blacks out from the pain. Tommy is being kept preoccupied from noticing by Sir Philza, who can tell just by looking at you how little time is left.

He finds you sitting outside one day, staring into the sky. Your soul is weak, dim and dying. There is so much melancholy in this painted picture; a dying priest sitting in a garden, surrounded by life, staring at stars which are simultaneous dying and being reborn every second.
"Why did you let me live that day," You trace lines at the stars, memorizing the constellations' unique shine. You don't look over when you hear Sir Philza sit. "What did you see in me."
There's a pause before Sir Philza breaks it hesitantly, "You protected that young boy. You wanted to protect his pure soul, even though he was a stranger. You were unwavering, unstoppable."
"You let me live because I don't fear Death," You surmise because it's the only thing you can fathom.
"I let you live becauseyou fear Death," Sir Philza corrects, tone ever so soft, "If you hadn't feared Death I would think you a fool but⦠You protected Tommy even when you were afraid. You didn't hesitate, you didn't back down. Your kindness is rare and your strength even rarer."
"You flatter me," Your eyes settle down to your lap, embarrassed to hear such a spin on that story. In your memories, it had been sudden and quick. You had been afraid, very afraid actually. But you have never once regretted it and you wouldn't've even if you had actually died. "I have a lot to thank you for, Sir Philza,"
"At that moment, you looked like an immovable object," Sir Philza said, voice quiet like the admission was a secret. It's almost like he hadn't heard you. "You reminded me of Lady Death."
"That's a high compliment, Sir, really butβ¦" You faltered, finally looking over at him. He was looking at you too, as if he was seeing through you, cradling your soul with his warm smile, like a parent holding their child. "I will miss this after I die."
Sir Philza's smile loses its warmth and he looks as sad as you feel, "I will miss this too. You are a special soul, young priest, and it's an honour to know you."
"I should be the one saying that," You laugh sadly, gazing back up at the stars. They shine extra bright tonight as if to say We see you too, we burn for you. "I have a selfish request to make."
"Anything," Sir Philza says, with no pause this time.
"I would like for you to be the last thing I see," You whisper, "You and Saint Tommy."
"If that's what you wish," Sir Philza says, voice oh so warm, oh so mourning, "Then it shall be so. I'll ask someone to fetch Tommy. You won't die alone."
"Thank you," You smile, feeling nothing but relief. Maybe you're a fool right now because you're not the slightest bit afraid.
