i know philip was exceedingly neglectful of his grimwalkers and he never even told them he'd been in the human realm before, but I really like the idea of him spinning this whole story about his Poor Brother who was Killed by Wild Witches and Hunter is just taking it all in with wide eyes and then the ghost of all the grimwalkers Philips killed and his brother start heckling him like "BOOOO I'VE HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE!"
Imagine if Darius had seen both his mentor's face and then Hunter's when he was still a scout and concluded that Hunter is the last GG's son who never got to meet his father so now it's HIS responsibility to pass on the man's whisdom to Hunter.
Right? Everyone so far has gone "Darius would figure it out" but No, I think he probably would make the more sane and regular conclusion that the last Golden Guard was Hunter's dad and the emperor's "nephew" is just like a. Belos doesn't want to be old and be a great uncle thing.

Wing AU. Wouldn’t it be fucked up if Belos took feather’s from each of the previous golden guards and put them as ornaments above his thrown in, what he calls a memorial, but whenever Hunter doesn’t do what Belos likes he not so subtly gestures makes comments about how good itd look with a new feather added. Darius ends up stealing the one that belonged to the previous golden guard and burning it on top of the knee as a sort of memorial to his mentor and what he sees as setting his soul rest. PA

and goddd. it would be So fucked up. He takes the biggest primary feather he has (the most important And the prettiest. two in one) and adds them to his throne as intimidation tactics. Hunter always thought they were from people who stepped out of line/disappointed Belos, and he was Kind Of right, but good lord was he not expecting it to be That.
I think they'd take all the feathers and burn them at some point, to remember the fallen and all that. Darius definitely took the liberty of burning his mentors himself, though. I wonder if they'd set fire to the feathers and then, like, toss them into the air to blow away as they burn to ash. a sort of last-token act of freedom that they never got
