It wasn’t that he didn’t believe Derek, it was just that he couldn’t. If he’d had magic the whole time, did it mean he could have been less useless back in highschool? Did it mean he could have helped, maybe kept Erica and Boyd alive? Kept Derek and Scott from leaving? It was too much. Guilt tore through his stomach like an arrow. He felt himself start to hyperventilate again.

Sastiel (Sam/Castiel) Rec List
So, because I've fallen down a Sastiel hole the last couple of months, which I have no intention of climbing my way out of, and I've been reading a lot of fic, I figured it might be time to compile a good old fashioned rec list. This list is by no means comprehensive, these are just some stories I liked and I think others might enjoy as well. Title: Locks of Love Author: Hils Rating: T Warnings: There is one scene near the beginning that is wincesty, where Dean gets handsy with Sam, nothing happens, Dean is under a spell and feels disgusted with himself afterwards. Also, Lucifer, he's basically his own warning Summary: (The author doesn't provide a summary) Sam is cursed by a spell where anyone who sees his hair falls madly in lust with him My notes: This explores what in theory should be a funny concept and takes it seriously, poor Sam has to isolate himself from people, but don't worry there is also plenty of fluff. I like the slow build up of Cas and Sam's relationship. Also, Sam looking after a sick/injured Cas, which there s not enough in Sastiel fanfiction in my opinion. Title: Between the Shadow and the Soul Author: Vera Rating: T Warnings: Some purgatory level violence, but nothing extremely graphic. References to Sam dying multiple times. Summary: What if Sam was the one that went to Purgatory with Castiel? My Notes: Do you like a some angst? Then this might be the fic for you! After I read this my only comment was "painfully beautiful". This explores how one partner can hurt another, even if they had good intentions. The author's concept of Purgatory is slightly different than canon, but it really adds a depth and an anguish, that the show didn't provide. Title: Naked Below These Words Author: Ebyru Rating: E Warnings: Temporary Character Death, Sam and Dean being very angry with Cas, some suicidal thoughts from Cas, dark themes Summary: After Castiel's death, Sam tries to forget about him, but he feels like he's still around--somewhere. Sam starts writing him letters. My Notes: Do you like a lot of angst? This is an alternative season 7, that deals with the aftermath of Godstiel. The first half of the fic is Sam writing letters to Cas, while he tries to deal with his feelings of anger and betrayal over Cas' actions, while also trying to reconcile these feelings with the friend he still loves. And, when Cas does come back he is screwed up (no Emanuel or crazy Cas here). Plus Sam and Cas begin a sexual relationship under circumstances that are probably not ideal. I think what I like about this story is that it really explores Sam's feelings about canon events, that the show tends to skate over. Title: Catalog of Non-Definitive Acts Author: Ebyru Rating: M Warnings: Dream sex, Purgatory, Mild gore Summary: Sam finds Castiel in his dreams. Dean told him about that, but he never expected to experience it firsthand. It’s not at all like he imagined. My Notes: An alternative season 8, where Cas visits Sam's dreams while him and Dean are stuck in Purgatory. This author's dream imagery is very well written. I love the idea of Cas contacting Sam in his dreams scenario, letting him know that Dean and him are alive, it gets around the whole "Sam didn't know if they were alive" issue and pulls Sam into the Purgatory storyline. Also, Sam looking after and protecting an injured and weak Cas. Title: Lovely, Dark, and Deep Author: rospeaks Rating: T Warnings: Insomnia Summary: Cas had thought that getting his memories back would make things easier, but the silence that plagued him as an amnesiac drives him to insomnia even after he's rejoined with the Winchesters. Sam helps him sleep. My Notes: Amnesiac Cas getting his memories back, and not being able to sleep because of it. This is just Sam being sweet, trying to comfort Cas, and they end up cuddling in bed together Title: and oh, my dreams Author: remy Rating: G Warnings: Sam under Djinn spell Summary: When Sam loses consciousness on a hunt after being attacked with djinn venom, it's up to Cas to venture into his subconscious and try to find him there. My Notes: One of the first Sastiel fics I think I ever read, and it really turned me on to the pairing. Sam is put under a Djinn's spell, and Cas goes into his dreams, when he's there he realizes that in Sam's dreamworld Sam and him are a couple. The dreamworld is really bittersweet, especially once Cas clues Sam in to what's going on, but don't worry it has a happy ending. Title: Everyone Needs Something Author: AnOddSock Rating: M Warnings: None Summary: Sam is a little touched starved. Cas is a little touched starved. Maybe between them they can figure out a better way to live. My Notes: Sam needs more physical intimacy, hugging, holding hands, touching and he seeks to get it from Cas, and over time they accidentally fall into a romantic relationship. This fic is really sweet, just Sam and Cas finding comfort and closeness with each other Title: A Gift Of Mistletoe Author: flawedamythyst Rating: G Warnings: None Summary: After Sam gets his soul back, Castiel starts bringing him presents. My Notes: Christmas fic! Cas keeps bringing Sam gifts of branches, thinking this an appropriate human convention, but Sam just isn't getting what Cas is trying to say. Humorous. Title: How to Date an Angel in 140 Characters or Less Author: 13chapters Rating: G Warnings: None Summary: Castiel has found a new use for his phone. Unfortunately for Sam, he isn't too clear on the concept of "privacy". My Notes: This one is a sequel to another fic, but you can read it as a stand alone. Cas gets a twitter account, and amasses a following, but he doesn't understand the concept of oversharing. Very funny. Title: Closer to Heaven and Closer to You Author: Epiphanyx7 Rating: T Warnings: Sam has minor jealously of the Dean & Cas relationship in the beginning Summary: Castiel is an angel. And angels don't have emotions. My Notes: Sam notices how Cas looks and acts around Dean is different from how Cas looks at him. Basically its about Sam trying to get Cas to like him, and develops into them having a relationship. Its sweet and funny Title: At the End of This Day Author: killabeez Rating: T Warnings: Episode tag 11x06 Summary: A tag to 11x06, in which Sam finds unexpected comfort close to home. My Notes: Sam reassuring Cas, Netflix in Sam's bedroom, first kiss, what's not to love? Title: Kiss Me Quick Author: sixtysevenlmpala Rating: T Warnings: None Summary: Sam knew letting Cas tag along on an undercover job was kind of asking for something out of the ordinary to happen. But he never would have expected this. My Notes: I think I like this fic because Cas is the one initiating things and being well aware that he is doing it too, which is kind of rare in Sastiel fic it seems Title: One Night Author: story_monger Rating: T Warnings: Sex work, discussions of drug addiction, some discussion of past child abuse, Non-Supernatural AU, some self hatred by Cas, but he is ultimately accepting of his own and Sam's sexuality Summary: Castiel has already gone through the rigmarole of coming out as asexual and aromantic. That somehow doesn't stop a few unruly cousins from setting Castiel up with a stupidly tall sex worker named Sam. Castiel is mortified and ready to put the whole thing behind him, except he and Sam inexplicably bump into each other again a few weeks later. It marks the beginning of a friendship that ushers them into new territories, both with each other and the people around them. My Notes: Asexual Cas. I haven't read a lot of asexual Cas, but I think this fic handles it really well. It's a Non-Supernatural AU, Cas works at a museum, and Sam is a law student who pays for school via sex work. I think Sam's profession is also handled well, it showcases that it is okay for Sam to be a sex worker, while also not shying away from some of the dangers inherit in that type of work. It is such a great fic that shows Cas and Sam forming an unlikely friendship, and the two them trying to figure out what type of relationship they can have while dealing with a variety of issues. This is also where I confess that in AU fics I love when all the angels are part of a large extended, dysfunctional family, and this fic delivers. This fic is chocked full of side characters, and not just the angels, Meg, Charlie, Benny, Mrs Tran, Ellen, Jo, Ash and of course Dean. It deals with some tough issues while also managing to be sweet. I can't tell you how much I love this fic, I was sad to see it end, I just wanted to read more about their lives together Title: 0930 Hours Author: thistidalwave Rating: T Warnings: Non-Supernatural AU Summary: or, how to woo the guy who saved your life in less than ten days. My Notes: Cas is having trouble talking to Sam, and everyone and their brother has advice, whether Cas wants it or not. This one has a small town feel, and it's charm is its use of the side characters, including several angels, plus Dean, Ellen and Jo. Humorous.
Wincestiel (Sam/Cas/Dean) Rec List
I'm reading less Supernatural fic lately, so I might actually be slowing down and finding other fandom interests, but I bookmarked quite a few stories over the past year and would like to share them, so here is a rec list for Sam/Cas/Dean fic. Title: The Three Body Problem Author: kisahawklin Rating: E Word Count: 36843 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Cas asks the Winchesters on a date. Yes, both of them. My notes: Cas wants a romantic relationship with both the Winchesters together. The first half of this fic is fluff, where the three of them go on cute dates together, the second half is pure smut, intermixed in the whole thing is a good deal of angst, where Sam and Dean try and negotiate a relationship with Cas, while also trying to come to terms with the idea of them being in a sexual relationship together. Title: Found & Lost! Author: tfw_ftw Rating: E Word Count: 5286 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: The wedding photo. The cabin. The irritatingly perfect family postcards that Castiel insisted they order. Sam's been waiting for this longer than he cares to admit and fuck it, he deserves this. My notes: This is such a bittersweet kind of fic. The sex is good, but what really sells it, is the quiet domesticity that the three of them share. A nice imagining of what Sam thought retirement could have looked like for the three of them. Title: Closed Curtains Author: mollrach13 Rating: M Word Count: 7710 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: When Sam, Cas and Dean settle in New Haven Sam thinks he has the best of all worlds. His damaged mind on the mend, the love and support of his brother and angel. But then, inevitably, it all starts to fall apart. My notes: Sam feels insecure in his relationship with Dean and Cas, while also trying to deal with his trauma, this leads him to making some incorrect assumptions. I'm a sucker for insecure Sam, and this fic feeds that itch very well. Title: The Secret Diary of Castiel aged 4,237¾ Author: MissyJack Rating: E Word Count: 1578 Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (nothing bad in here, just implied smut) Summary: This is an extract from Castiel’s Diaries. He worries on a regular basis about failing to stop the end of the world, the number of sins he is committing during his time on Earth and whether his trench coat makes his butt look big. He has become involved in two romantic relationships. The first is with the charismatic, morally corrupt but attractively short Dean Winchester. The second relationship is with the haughty Sam Winchester, whom he initially dislikes because he used to drink demon blood and is very tall. My notes: A righteous Cas keeping a dairy of him being lead astray by the Winchesters. This story is hilarious, it takes the otherness of early seasons Cas, and just rolls with it. Each diary entry just puts a bigger smile on my face. Title: Into the Light of the Dark Black Night Author: BewareTheIdes15 Rating: E Word Count: 23104 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply (there is a scene where Sam is in one of his feral states and tries to forced himself on Cas, but Dean stops it) Summary: Across the space of a thousand lonely miles and approximately four and a half feet of boot-worn, hide-anything-colored carpet, Dean watches his brother twitch. Twitch. Twitch again. Then still, stop. Breathe. Twitch. My notes: Would you like a whole lot of angst sprinkled with some smut? Than this might be the fic for you. This fic shows Sam's trauma from Hell differently from canon, Sam has moments where he is inconsolable and must be held, to other times where he is almost feral, intermixed with days where he is just regular Sam again. Cas is human again after the whole Leviathan arc, Dean is just confused and heartbroken about the whole thing, and how they all deal with situation is probably not the most healthy. I think the compelling part of this story is the three of them trying to overcome their trauma, while ultimately coming together. Title: dust off your highest hopes Author: crystallized Rating: G Word Count: 1690 Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (nothing bad in here, just implied smut) Summary: Bobby shows up the next morning, pounding on their door with answers to the case, and when Dean answers in just a pair of jeans and Bobby looks around him to see Sam and Cas still laying in the bed, Bobby's reaction is pretty much exactly the same as it was with just the brothers all those weeks ago. My notes: This little fic is sweet, just a happy little look at how their live in the bunker could have been Title: Ripening Author: Vera (Vera_DragonMuse) Rating: E Word Count: 4216 Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (nothing really bad in here, just smut) Summary: Castiel travels far and wide, but he always comes home to a low slung cabin by the lake. My notes: Old established Wincestiel, with a generous dose of smut, but there is also something so domestic and lovely about the whole thing Title: I Think I Might’ve Inhaled You Author: WhoopsOK Rating: E Word Count: 9954 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: "Sam knows what he has to do, ignores Dean calling his name as he storms out of the room, fear and revulsion rolling in his gut. Sometimes you just have to sweat the fever out alone before you contaminate anyone else." (Sam gets hit with a love potion that makes it hard to keep himself in check.) My notes: Sam gets hit with a love potion, sort of, it make him touch starved and desperate for attention from Cas and Dean. Sam has a lot of internal angst, because he feels something is wrong with him, and he doesn't want to push Dean and Cas into anything. Once again this one fulfills my insecure Sam wants, and it ends with some delicious smut. Title: Something To Do With Love Author: AxeMeAboutAxinomancy Rating: E Word Count: 3442 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Something fell on Dean. My notes: Dean gets hit with a curse, sort of, and feels freezing cold and can only be warmed up by skin to skin touch, so I think you can see where this is going. I found the concept of this fic very humorous, but it is also kind of sweet, and of course smutty.
Aziraphale/Crowley Fic Recs
Here is a collection of Aziraphale/Crowley fics that I have enjoyed. I have tried to pick fics that are not included on every rec list, there are so many great fic writers in this fandom that deserve attention. I have split the list into two main categories, stories where they are an angel and a demon, and stories where they are human, and added the sub-categories of Smut, Angst and Fluff.
Still an Angel and a Demon Then? (Canon Adjacent/Divergent) Thank You for my Pornography (Smut) Title: I Want To See You (In the Dark) Authors: ineffablebadger and QuestionableGeek Word Count: 6050 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: When it came down to it, Aziraphale had always loved Crowley. He had taken comfort in the fact that he is an angel and is supposed to love all of Her creations. The thought that he could love Crowley in a more specific way was something he had considered before but had kept in the far reaches of his mind like a shameful secret. As the thought began to break free, the feeling of love overwhelmed him in a not dissimilar way to the flames overwhelming the church. He tried not to consider the meaning of a church of the Lord burning to ash before his eyes as he realised that he is in love with a demon . Aziraphale and Crowley steal a night in the darkness hoping that they will remain unseen together in the blackout. Reccer's Note: This fic ponders what if Aziraphale and Crowley had gotten together after the 1941 bombing? The authors call this porn with feelings, the sex is very well written, and the authors do an amazing job of conveying what it is like for these characters to be sharing these intimate moments in almost complete darkness. However, what really sells this fic is the feelings! There is self doubt, and hesitation, and the two of them are so tender and caring with each other, and I loved the ending! Title: Hellish Love, Heavenly Lust Author: TheLinThing Word Count: 1278 words Rating: E Summary: A bedroom wrapped in twilight, and getting slowly and lovingly fucked from behind by a genuine demon from hell. Reccer's Note: This is the most evocative, beautifully written smut. Title: your lips, my lips (apocalypse) Author: MovesLikeBucky Word Count: 2518 Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: “I want you, Crowley.” His voice is but a breath against Crowley’s ear, a soft wind carrying a warmth on it like Crowley has never known. “I’ve wanted you for so long. I want to give you anything you’ve ever wanted; I want everything that you are and everything that you could be, because, my darling, if we can’t figure this out… if we can’t stop it…” Crowley turns and captures Aziraphale’s lips with his own, not wanting to hear how he knows that sentence ends. OR What if Mary didn't show up quite so fast? Reccer's Note: I kind of love what if scenarios, this fic asks what if Sister Mary hadn't interrupted them when Crowley had Aziraphale pushed up against a wall, and things had progressed. Basically, this is just some delicious smut, with feelings thrown in, and a little bit of a bittersweet ending. Title: Appetite Author: spunknbite Word Count: 6011 Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Aziraphale glances down at the macaron in Crowley’s hand - two blush pink biscuits sandwich a layer of swirled white buttercream containing red-pink specks that Aziraphale takes to be pomegranate arils. Crowley places the macaron against Aziraphale’s lips with more reverence than the angel had thought him capable. “It’s alright, angel. Just take a bite.” “Is that what you told Eve?” “Something like it. It worked, didn’t it?” Reccer's Note: Crowley seduces Aziraphale with macarons, quite literally. Crying Alone in a Pub (Angst) Title: Against the Bitter Cold Author: EdosianOrchids901 Word Count: 1318 Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: A pointless temptation assignment leaves Crowley stranded in the middle of a snowstorm. By the time he stumbles back to the inn, he’s so cold and disoriented that he can’t even remember why he was outside. Aziraphale is ready to lend a helping hand. Reccer's Note: Crowley gets hypothermia and Aziraphale has to try warm up a very disorientated Crowley. I loved blessedly confused Crowley is in this fic, his thought process is so jumbled, but he still worries about Aziraphale being too kind to him and drawing too much attention. Azirphale is so sweet
here. Plus, I'm a sucker for Crowley being comforted. Title: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Author: EdosianOrchids901 Word Count: 2770 words Fandom: Good Omens Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley Summary: Aziraphale is attacked by a group of humans who want to control his powers. He’s incapacitated by magic and unable to defend himself, totally helpless. But something dark and powerful bursts out of the shadows to rescue him. Reccer's Note: This is some good hurt/comfort, Aziraphale is very badly hurt by some nasty humans, and Crowley comes to his rescue. Also, generally speaking, EdosianOrchids901 writes great hurt/comfort fics and fun, fluffy oneshots, and the amount of GO stories they write will keep you reading for a long time. Title: Remembrance Author: CinnabarMint Word Count: 2926 words Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: The drops of whiskey fell like golden pearls onto the precious carpet in the sitting room of a cottage in the South Downs. Crowley wasn’t very sure exactly what time it was, he only knew he started drinking right after having lunch with Aziraphale. Or right after they had tried to have lunch, anyway. Reccer's Note: Aziraphale has amnesia and Crowley has been looking after him for years. I'm not going to lie, this one had me crying at a few points. Crowley is so tender and caring with Aziraphale, but you can tell how lonely he is and how he misses who Aziraphale used to be. This fic is actually the sequel to another fic, but I read on it's own and I was fine, because they explain early in the fic how Aziraphale ended up in his condition. Title: the dancers may disappear Author: doorwaytoparadise Word Count: 3536 words Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley is visiting the earth, trying to get a breather from Heaven, when he meets a demon both unfamiliar and familiar in a park in London. (or: sometime after the Notmageddon, some Things Happened) Reccer's Note: This fic plays with the concept of what if Crowley rose and Aziraphale fell. Crowley's now an angel, but he doesn't remember Aziraphale. This one made tear up a little. Champagne at the Ritz (Fluff) Title: The Perfect Kiss Author: misbegotten Word Count: 561 Rating: G Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley has waited a long time for this kiss. It better be worth it. Reccer's Notes: This is so cute! I love the fact that Aziraphale is rather oblivious to Crowley's attempts at seduction. Title: hand in unlovable hand Author: gazing Word Count: 3115 Rating: G Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: As a rule, they don’t touch Reccer's Note: A wonderful emphasis on the power of touch, and how lovely it is to hold someone's hand Title: Etiquette Author: PinkPenguinParade Word Count: 1252 Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: “You want… what?” Aziraphale said after a moment, more kindly than Crowley possibly deserved for having interrupted a perfectly good snog. “I want to do this right.” “Was I ...not doing it right? I grant you, I'm a bit out of practice, but I shouldn’t think things have changed that much.” Crowley, for once, is looking at convention. Aziraphale isn't having it. Reccer's Note: I kind of love the role reversal on this one, Crowley wants to slow down and do things properly, and Aziraphale is just like "dear, we've already been dating for 6000 years!" (paraphrasing). Title: A Good Old-Fashioned Cock Up Author: Atalan Word Count: 1188 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley's habit of subjecting Aziraphale to bad movie nights backfires spectacularly. Reccer's Note: Hilarious little fic where Crowley accidentally brings the wrong type of film to movie night, and Aziraphale figures it out way before Crowley does. Title: First Date Author: silverwren Word Count: 715 Rating: G Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley asks Aziraphale on a date Reccer's Note: Adorable little fic, where Aziraphale is under a mistaken
assumption about their relationship, and Crowley's response is like “you could have told me!” Humans are so Inventive Sometimes (Human AUs) Title: Echo Author: snae_b Word Count: 51,851 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: This isn’t your average coffee shop AU. Reccer's Note: I don't want to give too much away, but this fic starts with the Groundhog Day trope and expands in unexpected ways from there. It is a lovely sci-fi love story, that will have you rooting for Azirpahle and Crowley to be together. It also tackles some science fiction related ethical issues, and features several of your favourite Good Omens secondary characters. Title: Villainous Author: IneffablePenguin Word Count: 216,543 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Once Upon A Time… There was a red-haired sorcerer who lived alone in a high tower. And a blond prince who lived in a palace full of people. And they were both of them desperately lonely. The Kingdoms of Empyrion and the Sorcerers of Apollyon have hated each other for hundreds of years, ever since the Great War. They do not interact, other than to occasionally try to kill one another. And they certainly do not make friends. Crow is an exhausted sorcerer who just wants everyone to leave him the hell alone: for the Sorcerer’s Council to stop harassing him to live up to his potential, and for wannabe Empyrion Heroes to stop attacking his tower to try and kill him. Until one day when he meets Prince Azra of the High Fells, who doesn’t behave anything like he’s supposed to… Part fairy tale, part fantasy, all love story. There’s magic, and grand romantic gestures, and Heroes and a handsome Prince, and a Villain. There are even some wild heroics, though not necessarily from who you would expect. At its core it’s simply about two (relatively) sane people living in a mad world who find each other. Reccer's Note: When this fic was posting I was obsessed with it, and followed it updates religiously (ha!). It's slow burn, pining, and kind of enemies to lovers, but not really, because even though Crowley and Aziraphale are supposed to be on opposite sides they become fast friends. It starts out small with the two of them meeting regularly in the forest, and slowly expands from there. I know the word count is intimidating, but IneffablePenguin is a good writer and adds a lot of fun fantasy elements. If you like pining or slow burn at all this might be for you, because it takes them about half the story before they are willing to admit they have feelings for each other. Title: Between Sand and Stars Author: Dashicra1 Word Count: 12,720 words Rating: M Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Aziraphale has been wounded while defending innocent civilians and summarily sentenced to death via wandering in the desert for his actions, but when he stumbles upon Crowley’s house by chance, his luck changes rapidly. Crowley is a strange and skittish man who lives alone, tucked in amongst a collection of medicinal herbs, broken pottery, and torn blankets. When the reason for Crowley’s caution and odd behaviour is revealed, Aziraphale can think of nothing he’d rather do than try to help him free himself from his tragedy, and the two embark upon a tender romance which will change both of their lives for the better. Reccer's Note: This is such a tender fic. It is a fantasy/fairy tale AU, about poor touch starved Crowley who lives alone in the desert, and Aziraphale who accidentally finds his hut. I don't want to give away the twist, I will say the story is not overly focused on the plot, it is more about two broken people finding comfort and love with each other. Which happens to be one of my favourite story types. Title: The Rose and the Serpent Author: Atalan Word Count: 55795 words Rating: M Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: AU, retelling of “Beauty and the Beast”. Quite honestly, sending Aziraphale off into the forest to be held hostage by a giant snake in a cursed castle isn’t even the worst
thing Gabriel’s ever done to him, and at least it means a change of scene. Here is a collection of Aziraphale/Crowley fics that I have enjoyed. I have tried to pick fics that are not included on every rec list, there are so many great fic writers in this fandom that deserve attention. I have split the list into two main categories, stories where they are an angel and a demon, and stories where they are human, and added the sub-categories of Smut, Angst and Fluff.

(Canon Adjacent/Divergent) Thank You for my Pornography (Smut) Title: I Want To See You (In the Dark) Authors: ineffablebadger and QuestionableGeek Word Count: 6050 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: When it came down to it, Aziraphale had always loved Crowley. He had taken comfort in the fact that he is an angel and is supposed to love all of Her creations. The thought that he could love Crowley in a more specific way was something he had considered before but had kept in the far reaches of his mind like a shameful secret. As the thought began to break free, the feeling of love overwhelmed him in a not dissimilar way to the flames overwhelming the church. He tried not to consider the meaning of a church of the Lord burning to ash before his eyes as he realised that he is in love with a demon . Aziraphale and Crowley steal a night in the darkness hoping that they will remain unseen together in the blackout. Reccer's Note: This fic ponders what if Aziraphale and Crowley had gotten together after the 1941 bombing? The authors call this porn with feelings, the sex is very well written, and the authors do an amazing job of conveying what it is like for these characters to be sharing these intimate moments in almost complete darkness. However, what really sells this fic is the feelings! There is self doubt, and hesitation, and the two of them are so tender and caring with each other, and I loved the ending! Title: Hellish Love, Heavenly Lust Author: TheLinThing Word Count: 1278 words Rating: E Summary: A bedroom wrapped in twilight, and getting slowly and lovingly fucked from behind by a genuine demon from hell. Reccer's Note: This is the most evocative, beautifully written smut. Title: your lips, my lips (apocalypse) Author: MovesLikeBucky Word Count: 2518 Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: “I want you, Crowley.” His voice is but a breath against Crowley’s ear, a soft wind carrying a warmth on it like Crowley has never known. “I’ve wanted you for so long. I want to give you anything you’ve ever wanted; I want everything that you are and everything that you could be, because, my darling, if we can’t figure this out… if we can’t stop it…” Crowley turns and captures Aziraphale’s lips with his own, not wanting to hear how he knows that sentence ends. OR What if Mary didn't show up quite so fast? Reccer's Note: I kind of love what if scenarios, this fic asks what if Sister Mary hadn't interrupted them when Crowley had Aziraphale pushed up against a wall, and things had progressed. Basically, this is just some delicious smut, with feelings thrown in, and a little bit of a bittersweet ending. Title: Appetite Author: spunknbite Word Count: 6011 Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Aziraphale glances down at the macaron in Crowley’s hand - two blush pink biscuits sandwich a layer of swirled white buttercream containing red-pink specks that Aziraphale takes to be pomegranate arils. Crowley places the macaron against Aziraphale’s lips with more reverence than the angel had thought him capable. “It’s alright, angel. Just take a bite.” “Is that what you told Eve?” “Something like it. It worked, didn’t it?” Reccer's Note: Crowley seduces Aziraphale with macarons, quite literally. Crying Alone in a Pub (Angst) Title: Against the Bitter Cold Author: EdosianOrchids901 Word Count: 1318 Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: A pointless temptation assignment leaves Crowley stranded in the middle of a snowstorm. By the time he stumbles back to the inn, he’s so cold and disoriented that he can’t even remember why he was outside. Aziraphale is ready to lend a helping hand. Reccer's Note: Crowley gets hypothermia and Aziraphale has to try warm up a very disorientated Crowley. I loved blessedly confused Crowley is in this fic, his thought process is so jumbled, but he still worries about Aziraphale being too kind to him and drawing too much attention. Azirphale is so sweet
here. Plus, I'm a sucker for Crowley being comforted. Title: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Author: EdosianOrchids901 Word Count: 2770 words Fandom: Good Omens Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley Summary: Aziraphale is attacked by a group of humans who want to control his powers. He’s incapacitated by magic and unable to defend himself, totally helpless. But something dark and powerful bursts out of the shadows to rescue him. Reccer's Note: This is some good hurt/comfort, Aziraphale is very badly hurt by some nasty humans, and Crowley comes to his rescue. Also, generally speaking, EdosianOrchids901 writes great hurt/comfort fics and fun, fluffy oneshots, and the amount of GO stories they write will keep you reading for a long time. Title: Remembrance Author: CinnabarMint Word Count: 2926 words Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: The drops of whiskey fell like golden pearls onto the precious carpet in the sitting room of a cottage in the South Downs. Crowley wasn’t very sure exactly what time it was, he only knew he started drinking right after having lunch with Aziraphale. Or right after they had tried to have lunch, anyway. Reccer's Note: Aziraphale has amnesia and Crowley has been looking after him for years. I'm not going to lie, this one had me crying at a few points. Crowley is so tender and caring with Aziraphale, but you can tell how lonely he is and how he misses who Aziraphale used to be. This fic is actually the sequel to another fic, but I read on it's own and I was fine, because they explain early in the fic how Aziraphale ended up in his condition. Title: the dancers may disappear Author: doorwaytoparadise Word Count: 3536 words Rating: T Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley is visiting the earth, trying to get a breather from Heaven, when he meets a demon both unfamiliar and familiar in a park in London. (or: sometime after the Notmageddon, some Things Happened) Reccer's Note: This fic plays with the concept of what if Crowley rose and Aziraphale fell. Crowley's now an angel, but he doesn't remember Aziraphale. This one made tear up a little. Champagne at the Ritz (Fluff) Title: The Perfect Kiss Author: misbegotten Word Count: 561 Rating: G Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley has waited a long time for this kiss. It better be worth it. Reccer's Notes: This is so cute! I love the fact that Aziraphale is rather oblivious to Crowley's attempts at seduction. Reccer's Note: I kind of love the role reversal on this one, Crowley wants to slow down and do things properly, and Aziraphale is just like "dear, we've already been dating for 6000 years!" (paraphrasing). Title: A Good Old-Fashioned Cock Up Author: Atalan Word Count: 1188 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley's habit of subjecting Aziraphale to bad movie nights backfires spectacularly. Reccer's Note: Hilarious little fic where Crowley accidentally brings the wrong type of film to movie night, and Aziraphale figures it out way before Crowley does. Title: First Date Author: silverwren Word Count: 715 Rating: G Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Crowley asks Aziraphale on a date Reccer's Note: Adorable little fic, where Aziraphale is under a mistaken
assumption about their relationship, and Crowley's response is like “you could have told me!” Humans are so Inventive Sometimes (Human AUs) Title: Echo Author: snae_b Word Count: 51,851 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: This isn’t your average coffee shop AU. Reccer's Note: I don't want to give too much away, but this fic starts with the Groundhog Day trope and expands in unexpected ways from there. It is a lovely sci-fi love story, that will have you rooting for Azirpahle and Crowley to be together. It also tackles some science fiction related ethical issues, and features several of your favourite Good Omens secondary characters. Title: Villainous Author: IneffablePenguin Word Count: 216,543 words Rating: E Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Once Upon A Time… There was a red-haired sorcerer who lived alone in a high tower. And a blond prince who lived in a palace full of people. And they were both of them desperately lonely. The Kingdoms of Empyrion and the Sorcerers of Apollyon have hated each other for hundreds of years, ever since the Great War. They do not interact, other than to occasionally try to kill one another. And they certainly do not make friends. Crow is an exhausted sorcerer who just wants everyone to leave him the hell alone: for the Sorcerer’s Council to stop harassing him to live up to his potential, and for wannabe Empyrion Heroes to stop attacking his tower to try and kill him. Until one day when he meets Prince Azra of the High Fells, who doesn’t behave anything like he’s supposed to… Part fairy tale, part fantasy, all love story. There’s magic, and grand romantic gestures, and Heroes and a handsome Prince, and a Villain. There are even some wild heroics, though not necessarily from who you would expect. At its core it’s simply about two (relatively) sane people living in a mad world who find each other. Reccer's Note: When this fic was posting I was obsessed with it, and followed it updates religiously (ha!). It's slow burn, pining, and kind of enemies to lovers, but not really, because even though Crowley and Aziraphale are supposed to be on opposite sides they become fast friends. It starts out small with the two of them meeting regularly in the forest, and slowly expands from there. I know the word count is intimidating, but IneffablePenguin is a good writer and adds a lot of fun fantasy elements. If you like pining or slow burn at all this might be for you, because it takes them about half the story before they are willing to admit they have feelings for each other. Title: Between Sand and Stars Author: Dashicra1 Word Count: 12,720 words Rating: M Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Aziraphale has been wounded while defending innocent civilians and summarily sentenced to death via wandering in the desert for his actions, but when he stumbles upon Crowley’s house by chance, his luck changes rapidly. Crowley is a strange and skittish man who lives alone, tucked in amongst a collection of medicinal herbs, broken pottery, and torn blankets. When the reason for Crowley’s caution and odd behaviour is revealed, Aziraphale can think of nothing he’d rather do than try to help him free himself from his tragedy, and the two embark upon a tender romance which will change both of their lives for the better. Reccer's Note: This is such a tender fic. It is a fantasy/fairy tale AU, about poor touch starved Crowley who lives alone in the desert, and Aziraphale who accidentally finds his hut. I don't want to give away the twist, I will say the story is not overly focused on the plot, it is more about two broken people finding comfort and love with each other. Which happens to be one of my favourite story types. Title: The Rose and the Serpent Author: Atalan Word Count: 55795 words Rating: M Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: AU, retelling of “Beauty and the Beast”. I’m reading less Supernatural fic lately, so I might actually be slowing down and finding other fandom interests, but I bookmarked quite a few stories over the past year and would like to share them, so here is a rec list for Sam/Cas/Dean fic. Title: The Three Body Problem Author: kisahawklin Rating: E Word Count: 36843 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Cas asks the Winchesters on a date. Yes, both of them. My notes: Cas wants a romantic relationship with both the Winchesters together. The first half of this fic is fluff, where the three of them go on cute dates together, the second half is pure smut, intermixed in the whole thing is a good deal of angst, where Sam and Dean try and negotiate a relationship with Cas, while also trying to come to terms with the idea of them being in a sexual relationship together. Title: Found & Lost! Author: tfw_ftw Rating: E Word Count: 5286 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: The wedding photo. The cabin. The irritatingly perfect family postcards that Castiel insisted they order. Sam’s been waiting for this longer than he cares to admit and fuck it, he deserves this. My notes: This is such a bittersweet kind of fic. The sex is good, but what really sells it, is the quiet domesticity that the three of them share. A nice imagining of what Sam thought retirement could have looked like for the three of them. Title: Closed Curtains Author: mollrach13 Rating: M Word Count: 7710 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: When Sam, Cas and Dean settle in New Haven Sam thinks he has the best of all worlds. His damaged mind on the mend, the love and support of his brother and angel. But then, inevitably, it all starts to fall apart. My notes: Sam feels insecure in his relationship with Dean and Cas, while also trying to deal with his trauma, this leads him to making some incorrect assumptions. I’m a sucker for insecure Sam, and this fic feeds that itch very well. Title: The Secret Diary of Castiel aged 4,237¾ Author: MissyJack Rating: E Word Count: 1578 Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (nothing bad in here, just implied smut) Summary: This is an extract from Castiel’s Diaries. He worries on a regular basis about failing to stop the end of the world, the number of sins he is committing during his time on Earth and whether his trench coat makes his butt look big. He has become involved in two romantic relationships. The first is with the charismatic, morally corrupt but attractively short Dean Winchester. The second relationship is with the haughty Sam Winchester, whom he initially dislikes because he used to drink demon blood and is very tall. My notes: A righteous Cas keeping a dairy of him being lead astray by the Winchesters. This story is hilarious, it takes the otherness of early seasons Cas, and just rolls with it. Each diary entry just puts a bigger smile on my face. Title: Into the Light of the Dark Black Night Author: BewareTheIdes15 Rating: E Word Count: 23104 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply (there is a scene where Sam is in one of his feral states and tries to forced himself on Cas, but Dean stops it) Summary: Across the space of a thousand lonely miles and approximately four and a half feet of boot-worn, hide-anything-colored carpet, Dean watches his brother twitch. Twitch. Twitch again. Then still, stop. Breathe. Twitch. My notes: Would you like a whole lot of angst sprinkled with some smut? Than this might be the fic for you. This fic shows Sam’s trauma from Hell differently from canon, Sam has moments where he is inconsolable and must be held, to other times where he is almost feral, intermixed with days where he is just regular Sam again. Cas is human again after the whole Leviathan arc, Dean is just confused and heartbroken about the whole thing, and how they all deal with situation is probably not the most healthy. I think the compelling part of this story is the three of them trying to overcome their trauma, while ultimately coming together. Title: dust off your highest hopes Author: crystallized Rating: G Word Count: 1690 Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (nothing bad in here, just implied smut) Summary: Bobby shows up the next morning, pounding on their door with answers to the case, and when Dean answers in just a pair of jeans and Bobby looks around him to see Sam and Cas still laying in the bed, Bobby’s reaction is pretty much exactly the same as it was with just the brothers all those weeks ago. My notes: This little fic is sweet, just a happy little look at how their live in the bunker could have been Title: Ripening Author: Vera (Vera_DragonMuse) Rating: E Word Count: 4216 Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (nothing really bad in here, just smut) Summary: Castiel travels far and wide, but he always comes home to a low slung cabin by the lake. My notes: Old established Wincestiel, with a generous dose of smut, but there is also something so domestic and lovely about the whole thing Title: I Think I Might’ve Inhaled You Author: WhoopsOK Rating: E Word Count: 9954 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: “Sam knows what he has to do, ignores Dean calling his name as he storms out of the room, fear and revulsion rolling in his gut. Sometimes you just have to sweat the fever out alone before you contaminate anyone else.” (Sam gets hit with a love potion that makes it hard to keep himself in check.) My notes: Sam gets hit with a love potion, sort of, it make him touch starved and desperate for attention from Cas and Dean. Sam has a lot of internal angst, because he feels something is wrong with him, and he doesn’t want to push Dean and Cas into anything. Once again this one fulfills my insecure Sam wants, and it ends with some delicious smut. Title: Something To Do With Love Author: AxeMeAboutAxinomancy Rating: E Word Count: 3442 Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: Something fell on Dean. My notes: Dean gets hit with a curse, sort of, and feels freezing cold and can only be warmed up by skin to skin touch, so I think you can see where this is going. I found the concept of this fic very humorous, but it is also kind of sweet, and of course smutty.

Sastiel (Sam/Castiel) Rec List
So, because I’ve fallen down a Sastiel hole the last couple of months, which I have no intention of climbing my way out of, and I’ve been reading a lot of fic, I figured it might be time to compile a good old fashioned rec list. This list is by no means comprehensive, these are just some stories I liked and I think others might enjoy as well. Title: Locks of Love Author: Hils Rating: T Warnings: There is one scene near the beginning that is wincesty, where Dean gets handsy with Sam, nothing happens, Dean is under a spell and feels disgusted with himself afterwards. Also, Lucifer, he’s basically his own warning Summary: (The author doesn’t provide a summary) Sam is cursed by a spell where anyone who sees his hair falls madly in lust with him My notes: This explores what in theory should be a funny concept and takes it seriously, poor Sam has to isolate himself from people, but don’t worry there is also plenty of fluff. I like the slow build up of Cas and Sam’s relationship. Also, Sam looking after a sick/injured Cas, which there s not enough in Sastiel fanfiction in my opinion. Title: Between the Shadow and the Soul Author: Vera Rating: T Warnings: Some purgatory level violence, but nothing extremely graphic. References to Sam dying multiple times. Summary: What if Sam was the one that went to Purgatory with Castiel? My Notes: Do you like a some angst? Then this might be the fic for you! After I read this my only comment was “painfully beautiful”. This explores how one partner can hurt another, even if they had good intentions. The author’s concept of Purgatory is slightly different than canon, but it really adds a depth and an anguish, that the show didn’t provide. Title: Naked Below These Words Author: Ebyru Rating: E Warnings: Temporary Character Death, Sam and Dean being very angry with Cas, some suicidal thoughts from Cas, dark themes Summary: After Castiel’s death, Sam tries to forget about him, but he feels like he’s still around–somewhere. Sam starts writing him letters. My Notes: Do you like a lot of angst? This is an alternative season 7, that deals with the aftermath of Godstiel. The first half of the fic is Sam writing letters to Cas, while he tries to deal with his feelings of anger and betrayal over Cas’ actions, while also trying to reconcile these feelings with the friend he still loves. And, when Cas does come back he is screwed up (no Emanuel or crazy Cas here). Plus Sam and Cas begin a sexual relationship under circumstances that are probably not ideal. I think what I like about this story is that it really explores Sam’s feelings about canon events, that the show tends to skate over. Title: Catalog of Non-Definitive Acts Author: Ebyru Rating: M Warnings: Dream sex, Purgatory, Mild gore Summary: Sam finds Castiel in his dreams. Dean told him about that, but he never expected to experience it firsthand. It’s not at all like he imagined. My Notes: An alternative season 8, where Cas visits Sam’s dreams while him and Dean are stuck in Purgatory. This author’s dream imagery is very well written. I love the idea of Cas contacting Sam in his dreams scenario, letting him know that Dean and him are alive, it gets around the whole “Sam didn’t know if they were alive” issue and pulls Sam into the Purgatory storyline. Also, Sam looking after and protecting an injured and weak Cas. Title: Lovely, Dark, and Deep Author: rospeaks Rating: T Warnings: Insomnia Summary: Cas had thought that getting his memories back would make things easier, but the silence that plagued him as an amnesiac drives him to insomnia even after he’s rejoined with the Winchesters. Sam helps him sleep. My Notes: Amnesiac Cas getting his memories back, and not being able to sleep because of it. This is just Sam being sweet, trying to comfort Cas, and they end up cuddling in bed together Title: and oh, my dreams Author: remy Rating: G Warnings: Sam under Djinn spell Summary: When Sam loses consciousness on a hunt after being attacked with djinn venom, it’s up to Cas to venture into his subconscious and try to find him there. My Notes: One of the first Sastiel fics I think I ever read, and it really turned me on to the pairing. Sam is put under a Djinn’s spell, and Cas goes into his dreams, when he’s there he realizes that in Sam’s dreamworld Sam and him are a couple. The dreamworld is really bittersweet, especially once Cas clues Sam in to what’s going on, but don’t worry it has a happy ending. Title: Everyone Needs Something Author: AnOddSock Rating: M Warnings: None Summary: Sam is a little touched starved. Cas is a little touched starved. Maybe between them they can figure out a better way to live. My Notes: Sam needs more physical intimacy, hugging, holding hands, touching and he seeks to get it from Cas, and over time they accidentally fall into a romantic relationship. This fic is really sweet, just Sam and Cas finding comfort and closeness with each other Title: A Gift Of Mistletoe Author: flawedamythyst Rating: G Warnings: None Summary: After Sam gets his soul back, Castiel starts bringing him presents. My Notes: Christmas fic! Cas keeps bringing Sam gifts of branches, thinking this an appropriate human convention, but Sam just isn’t getting what Cas is trying to say. Humorous. Title: How to Date an Angel in 140 Characters or Less Author: 13chapters Rating: G Warnings: None Summary: Castiel has found a new use for his phone. Unfortunately for Sam, he isn’t too clear on the concept of “privacy”. My Notes: This one is a sequel to another fic, but you can read it as a stand alone. My Notes: Sam reassuring Cas, Netflix in Sam’s bedroom, first kiss, what’s not to love? Title: Kiss Me Quick Author: sixtysevenlmpala Rating: T Warnings: None Summary: Sam knew letting Cas tag along on an undercover job was kind of asking for something out of the ordinary to happen. But he never would have expected this. My Notes: I think I like this fic because Cas is the one initiating things and being well aware that he is doing it too, which is kind of rare in Sastiel fic it seems Title: One Night Author: story_monger Rating: T Warnings: Sex work, discussions of drug addiction, some discussion of past child abuse, Non-Supernatural AU, some self hatred by Cas, but he is ultimately accepting of his own and Sam’s sexuality Summary: Castiel has already gone through the rigmarole of coming out as asexual and aromantic. That somehow doesn’t stop a few unruly cousins from setting Castiel up with a stupidly tall sex worker named Sam. Castiel is mortified and ready to put the whole thing behind him, except he and Sam inexplicably bump into each other again a few weeks later. It marks the beginning of a friendship that ushers them into new territories, both with each other and the people around them. My Notes: Asexual Cas. I haven’t read a lot of asexual Cas, but I think this fic handles it really well. It’s a Non-Supernatural AU, Cas works at a museum, and Sam is a law student who pays for school via sex work. I think Sam’s profession is also handled well, it showcases that it is okay for Sam to be a sex worker, while also not shying away from some of the dangers inherit in that type of work. It is such a great fic that shows Cas and Sam forming an unlikely friendship, and the two them trying to figure out what type of relationship they can have while dealing with a variety of issues. This is also where I confess that in AU fics I love when all the angels are part of a large extended, dysfunctional family, and this fic delivers. This fic is chocked full of side characters, and not just the angels, Meg, Charlie, Benny, Mrs Tran, Ellen, Jo, Ash and of course Dean. It deals with some tough issues while also managing to be sweet. I can’t tell you how much I love this fic, I was sad to see it end, I just wanted to read more about their lives together Title: 0930 Hours Author: thistidalwave Rating: T Warnings: Non-Supernatural AU Summary: or, how to woo the guy who saved your life in less than ten days. My Notes: Cas is having trouble talking to Sam, and everyone and their brother has advice, whether Cas wants it or not. This one has a small town feel, and it’s charm is its use of the side characters, including several angels, plus Dean, Ellen and Jo. Humorous.

i’m just… so tired of reading posts complaining about problems that only exist because people won’t read romance novels… it is a huge genre there are books about werewolf dukes, there are books about black revolutionary war soldiers, there are books about south asian doms who care about enthusiastic consent, there are books about shape-shifting cowboys who turn into bears, there are books about lady scientists learning how to trust that their boundaries will be respected, there are books about alien barbarian warriors, there are books about genies, there are books about women of color in victorian london, there are books about polyamorous earls, there are fake marriages and marriages of convenience and basically every fanfic trope that people lose it for exists as a book with original characters but some of the same people who complain about how books no longer satisfy them turn a blind eye to a whole genre because it never occurs to them to read a ~bodice-ripper~ when they could read romantic fanfic of a more respectable genre instead
