Wait hold on Tumblr girlies have been carrying that show on netflix for well over 10 years now and even the guy responsible for it hasn’t gotten a GOD DAMN DIME?????
As someone doing a masters in Screenwriting in the UK rn, alongside 100% supporting the strikes in the USA, I would heavily recommend that people both look into and be weary of how much of any piece of media made by a USA company was produced in Britain with any decent percentage of British cast & crew.
Because we’re part of different unions (I forget the acronym right now, huge brain fog, forgive me), but since Brexit the British government has made it essentially impossible for us to strike or protest without being straight up arrested. So if USA based production companies start cutting contracts with their actors and writers and start hiring from the UK instead, that is a direct ‘fuck you’ to the strikes.
Luckily, everyone I know who is involved in writing or acting support the strikes and are doing their best to be very careful to try and avoid working for USA companies. But not only might it be something that people miss, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some people simply didn’t care (especially if they have no intention of working in the USA themselves or joining those unions)
