I haven’t seen this on my dash so here it is. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill codifying same-sex marriage and it is now going to the Senate where there really is an actual chance of it passing. Sure, there are assholes who won’t support it, but there are Republican senators willing to support it and we need their support to get this passed. If you live in a state with a Republican senator, please call the senate office telling them that as a constituent, you support same-sex marriage and the Respect for Marriage Act.

The following senators are reported to be undecided, if one of these senators is yours, CALL!!!

Richard Burr, North Carolina

Roy Blunt, Missouri

Mike Braun, Indiana

Joni Ernst, Iowa

Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming

Rand Paul, Kentucky

Mitch McConnell?, Kentucky (yeah, I’m shocked the evil undead gizzard demon is in the undecided category as well but…might as well pressure the fucker)

Mitt Romney, Utah

Mike Rounds, South Dakota (specifically Mr. Rounds is quoted as acknowledging difference between a religious marriage and a legal one, go ahead and specify that you support granting couples the legal rights and protections that are given with a legal marriage)

Rick Scott, Florida

Dan Sullivan, Alaska (notably, Mr. Sullivan is quoted to recognize and respect the existing Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage! Pressure this man!!)

John Thune, South Dakota

Patt Toomey, Pennsylvania

Tommy Tuberville, Alabama

Todd Young, Indiana

This information was gathered from CNN on 7/21/22.

For clarification: Same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states right now based on the 2015 Supreme Court ruling. But, with the court standing as it is and with Roe being taken down, codifying same-sex marriage in law would mean that the Supreme Court would have a much, MUCH harder time stripping away the right. This is important. Marriage as a legal binding is critical to allowing spouses to visit each other in the hospital, make medical decisions, share assets, adopt and form families, and more. We need TEN Republicans to support the bill, so far there are FIVE likely supporters - we need AT LEAST FIVE MORE.

Please reblog this!!!

this might be because I’m a family law lawyer and also an old crone who remembers when marriage equality wasn’t a thing (as in, marriage equality only became nation-wide two months before I went to law school), but I have Strong Feelings about the right to marry and all the legal benefits that come with it

like I’m all for living in sin until someone says they don’t want to get married because it’s ~too permanent~ and in the same breath start talking about having kids or buying a house with their significant other. then I turn into a 90-year-old passive-aggressive church grandma who keeps pointedly asking when the wedding is. “yes, a divorce is very sad and stressful, but so is BEING HOMELESS BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT ENTITLED TO EQUITABLE DISTRIBUTION OF MARITAL PROPERTY, CAROLINE!”

Jewels of Truth Statement: "Our Souls Have No Gender Whatsoever With God In His Image and Likeness"

Happy New Year! I hope everyone globally has enjoyed this newly minted year before our very eyes. Although the news of the day around the world can be frightening if you allow it to sink your spirits. Choose instead to be a living grace by any means you wish to define it within benevolence. Today's first entry for the year 2015 will be a controversial one for those who hold fast to marriage between one man and one woman. As I write this forthcoming spiritual wisdom statement stands more in the mystical deep end of the pool of life. I have written previous "Jewels of Truth" statements on such a topic which I'm rehashing once more. It's worth repeating by so many different angles that it can be spiritually explained beyond the confines of any one religion on the Earth. This topic also follows a bit of Florida news since the beginning of this week. In the county of "Miami-Dade" which is my hometown the ban of same sex marriages has been lifted across the State. At least until the next legal hiccup burps out another secular civil rights objection. Here is a "Miami Herald" newspaper article online detailing the recent turn of events. "Same-Sex Marriage Begin In Miami-Dade County" (Article link dated Jan. 5th, 2015) This "Jewels of Truth" statement is #1893 in the series on the topic called "Genderless Souls". ------------------------------------------------- Genderless Souls: 1893)  Let no man or woman judge their peers in an incomplete truth. For it brings shame to themselves and so it becomes a miscarriage of the sacred dignity of all living souls. All people and even creatures should have an equal grace before God(dess) to love one another in whatever form that is mutually acceptable. To condemn another based upon their sexual orientation when there is love in truth with full devoted expression. Is to deny the "Spirit of God" to co-habitat with such genuine lovers. Be they straight, gay, lesbian, transgendered, and so forth... I say this with conviction as a mystic soul of the Lord God. Our very souls in God's Immaculate Image and Likeness has No Gender Whatsoever! Our souls as eternal spirits have no genitals or mammalian glands like our physical bodies do. God's own Image and Likeness is a dynamic mysterious paradox beyond our so called rational Puritan values. As it is spoken in (Galatians 3:28) I quote:

"There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer Male and Female; for all of you are One in Christ Jesus."

We are all inclusively One in God(dess). Our souls are infinite and eternal as in God's own Image and Likeness. So as to condemn homosexuals who honor their core truth in being true to their living dignity. Is to cast stones only to seek to become victims ourselves as ignorant to your very much genderless or gender free souls in heaven. Our spirits are neither just male or just female for they are both and they are not. It is a living paradox we are majestic souls in an Infinite Image and Likeness of God the Creator. To condemn lovers of whatever sexual orientation or any other form of discrimination. Is to stain yourselves for a time in a fear born from hell alone. To love one another is meant in a complete holistic manner without remorse or reservations. Bigotry lends itself to a myriad of karmic lessons until you mature as souls incarnated as people. God marries all genuine lovers in a spirit of thanksgiving. So that his colossal "Holy Spirit" spreads in his own Image and Likeness throughout all Creation(s). Amen.                           ---Ivan Pozo-Illas / Atrayo.

Welp goodbye my rights, it was nice while it lasted.

But seriously, I don't understand why anyone's rights should be up for debate. Why is it such a big deal who I love?

I'm a Fucking human being, I deserve as many rights as anyone else.

I am just a kid, I shouldn't have to costantly worry if my 'type' of love is going demonized today.

How is it that if we fight decades for our rights, their exsitence can be threatened by in one Fucking Day?

I Fucking Hate it Here!

In 2009, an Iowa Supreme Court decision recognized same-sex marriage for the first time. Almost 14 years later, there's a new push to take Iowa backwards and ban marriage equality again.

The new bill introduced by Rep. Luana Stoltenberg and several other GOP lawmakers on Tuesday will ban marriage equality in Iowa's Constitution. It's just one of over 20 bills introduced this session that target families and the LGBTQ+ community in Iowa.

We've got 48 hours to stop this bill to make sure it doesn't come up for a vote in the Iowa House.

Please sign this petition to tell Rep. Stoltenberg & other Iowa GOP lawmakers that IOWA WILL NOT GO BACK.  Marriage equality is here to stay!

Will you join us and take action? Click here:

Why gay marriages won't work in India

Recently supreme court gave its judgment about same sex marriage case declining the request to change the spacial marriage act to facilitate the same sex marriage.

Although I think judgment was unfair to struggle of all the people involved specially women and trans folks

I didn't include gays in that list because being a gay myself, I have noticed several trends in gays of India that makes them unsuitable for marriage.

First thing first there are broad general trends in homosexual men in India

1. Tops are looking for easy release without caring for bottoms pleasure. I have met several tops who says they are pure tops meaning they don't kiss, suck. I have met tops who don't even like touching asshole while wanting to do anal sex.

2. Most tops are married men or going to marry a girl or don't even comprehend the idea of marrying another man.

3. Most bottoms are poor, looking for sugar daddy or jobs/money.

4. Place of doing the deed is big problem for everyone. Even if someone has place, they don't want to do that at their place due mess created during sex or stigma attached to sex or due to society.

5. People says that they are looking for love but actually they are looking someone who can shower his love on them while they were free to fuck someone else/ recently described as situationship.

6. Obviously there is division based on economic status, caste and religion. Gays who are in higher echelon don't care about lower status people despite being in same boat.

7. Then there are several organisations who works for welfare of LGBT people. Although there are some good people and organisations, most of the organisation are full of English speaking woke people who can't comprehend the complexities of India society. Their donors are ultra elite people who just wants to feel good about themselves and brag to their western countries friends without actually making any changes in society of India.

These are personal experiences based on several people I have met. Obviously tops don't share their feelings being toxic males. Its mostly bottoms who are bearing the brunt of highly patriarchal toxic society. Although they are better then lesbians due to patriarchy.

So coming to the point of marriage, there are few points I would like to share, why it won't work for most gays in India

1. Internal homophobia- People who claim to be home sexual behave in the same manner as a toxic male would behave with women. Like anytime harrasment or any bottom.

2. While most tops wants bottoms to do the all the work that are assigned to women in traditional households but doesn't want to support financially, physically or mentally as normal men do to their wives. Tops wants a bottom to submit to their whims and fancies without taking care of their well being.

3. Poverty is big problem to have a place of their own. In traditional marriage women move to groom's parents home, but since most of LGBT aren't accepted by their families, moving in with parent's home is out of question. So where to go after marriage

A. Renting a place for same sex couple in homophobic country like India is nightmare.

B. Most young aren't rich enough to afford home of their own.

4. Everyone need social security. Society function because people are interdependent and help each other during hard times. But with gays there is no society, most people live secluded life, without interacting with other gays or being friends with each other. Either fuck or we don't know each other attitude of gays make them loneliest people.

In India caste, religion or geographical identities works because people support their common identities, even if they don't no each other personally.

For example if two same caste people met in government offices they will help each other but gays won't do the same. They will probably avoid each other due various reasons.

It is this attitude of Indian gays that makes them pathetic creatures on Earth. All of them want to have live like Western countries gays but they aren't ready for struggle that people of those countries have faced. People of western countries have faced brutal murders, conversion therepy, state repression but became victorious because they have each other. Now they are powerful because rich support the cause of poor. They support each other through various means. ( Shopping from gay shopkeeper, to selecting gays for jobs to providing support of mental, financial, social nature to people who are asking for help).

So there is no concept of social gay. Gay who are brand to cater to for business or government aren't exists in India. Marriage is a social institution. It can't work in alone. So if there is no society for gays, of gays marriage for same sex won't work as they do for heterosexuals.

badhaai do & filmfare and how it affects the queer movement

badhaai do won 6 filmfare awards!! and apart from that, 14 nominations. this is such a welcome surprise to me considering how much the filmfare panders to popular films and celebrities. while i'm convinced that best actor in a supporting role was robbed from gulshan devaiah (who played guru) as well as best dialogues + best director, let's not dwell on that negativity. the war to get same-sex marriage is still on. and i'd like to thank the team for dedicating their awards to the queer community. for those who have been complaining yet again that this was a profitable venture for the people involved, think again about how much it tanked in the box office. and yes, bhumi pednekar has addressed the on-going legal battle for same sex marriage here. i would ask for jaded queer individuals like me to step back and think that there are different ways of coming together to support a social cause. making an entire film is one of them. green lighting such a film is one of them. acting in such a film is one of them. considering what the extremely homophobic government is capable of, we must take all such things into account. and when queer icons like onir also come out in support of badhaai do (btw his red carpet look on filmfare >>>), we should take a page from their book to see where they are coming from. also i went and checked out the team behind badhaai do (not just the actors). apparently the director (harshavardhan kulkarni) and the editor (kirti nakhwa) are already in hot soup with the government since they returned a NATIONAL AWARD a few years back. their reason? the growing intolerance of the government. kinda iconic. and a reminder that this is the same government that routinely sends journalists, activists, historians to jail while dabbling in the same fields and falsifying facts and history. (lmao calling our trauma an "urban elite" problem is so ironic considering they are the urban elites). badhaai do getting the second highest number of filmfare awards is one of the many victories that we have secured. please remind yourself to not alienate any sort of support whatsoever just because it doesn't fit the stereotypical narrative of activism. and after all, activism in art is the most powerful of its kind, is it not?
