Both kyoshi and yangchen as mentors probably (based on kyoshists tiktok vids lol)

Kyoshi was an amazing (/ly terrifying) teacher and you can't change my mind 😤💕

In the shadow of Kyoshi we learn that Korra got her chin grab power move from Kyoshi herself!

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender Rating: General Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Kyoshi/Rangi (Avatar), Kyoshi & Rangi (Avatar) Characters: Rangi (Avatar), Kyoshi (Avatar), Jinpa (Avatar), Kirima (Avatar) Additional Tags: Post-Canon, One Shot Summary:
Kyoshi told Rangi before to meet her at noon later because she wants to give her a surprise. Yes, a surprise. A surprise shouldn't be told, sometimes Rangi thinks she really has rocks-for-brain but Rangi doesn't care. It is rare enough for Kyoshi to act like this and Rangi is so curious
Ok I couldn't stop thinking about this today and my mind went what if it was kinda a sitcom too? So imma add some bits that I think could be funny but also well yeah that's gonna happen.
1) Per tags you say that Kuruk is early 30's but what if instead Kuruk and Co are 20ish. I tried to find when Kuruk and friends started to travel together but couldn't find an actual answer the most I got was that they weren't adults yet. Back to the point and that being that in the Kyoshi books it's said that Hei-ran and Rangi look like sisters/twins even with Hei-ran being about late 40's to early 50's. So I imagine that with both of them being within a few years of each other that it's almost impossible to tell them apart.
But the funny part comes in when the only two that can tell them apart are Kyoshi and Kuruk. At first the others just assume it's because they've been around their respective Sei'naka clan members for a long time and Kyoshi is dating Rangi so of course it makes sense. But no Kyoshi (and the rest of Kuruk friends) know otherwise. Kyoshi just stares Kuruk down and shakes her head. She is not going to run the risk of Rangi not being born and will do anything she can to make sure Kuruk and Hei-ran are never alone together. Even funnier if Rangi never catches on to this.
2) Kyoshi after she stops having a mental breakdown about the island and warriors see young Kelsang and just immediately starts crying. Because that man? He was basically her father and she finally gets to see him again alive. Of course Kelsang is very confused but like ok??? Of course hijinks ensue of oh my Raava Kelsang has a kid??????? Some even believe it full because she definitely has the height for it and she does in fact have an air nomad as a biological parent. Kyoshi is just too much of a mess to clear things and so on.
3) Kyoshi sees young Jianzhu and has to keep herself from going over there to kill him because she, Yun and Rangi suffered so much from him.
4)Roku finding out that dragons nearly went extinct (because I believe in the headcanon that Zuko helped bring back the dragons like Aang did for the flying bisons) and freaks out a bit.
I'd add more but it has been so long since I've watched or read any of the shows/books. So this is all you get
I need a series where Yangchen/Kuruk/Kyoshi/Roku/Aang/Korra (from their respected novels/shows, guess Kuruk is an outlier tho) and their companions all gather in Korra's timeline and just....react to things. TT0TT Like kfljask;dfla I mostly want it because I think Kyoshi's reactions would just be 90% "WhAT?!/*absolutely flabbergasted*"
Yangchen: Let's go to my island! Kuruk: I'm sorry Yangchen, I sank it Yangchen: How do you sink an island? Kuruk: ...........you forget to cherish- Yangchen: Why couldn't you have destroyed some of my statues instead? >_> Aang: How about we go to Kyoshi's Island? Kyoshi: ????? I have an island??? Why do I have an island??? Korra: Kyoshi, you made it. Kyoshi: ????!!!! What???! Aang: Well more like moved it Kyoshi: ???!! WHaT?! Roku: Though you did make the Kyoshi Warriors! Kyoshi: ???? I did??? Why??? Why that name??? Am I a narcissist???? Aang: *sigh* she also made the Dai Li.... Kyoshi: THE FUCK IS A DAI LI???? Aang: Secret security police for the Earth King. Kyoshi, a known criminal: I DID WHAT?! Roku: Should we tell her she lived to around 230? Kyoshi: HUH??????! Wait. no. That tracks. Kyoshi's companions: WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT TRACKS???? Aang: On second, let's just go to the Northern Air Temple. Yangchen: Oops, can't, I'm banned from going. Aang: ????! WHAT?! You're an Air Nomad, how do you get banned from an Air Temple???? How did YOU get banned, but NOT Kyoshi???? Kuruk: She got a tad bit silly. Roku: Oh let's go to Ma'inka island then! It's suppose to be amazing. Kyoshi, war flashbacks: FUCK NO! You can't make me go back there! Yangchen: Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm not welcome there either. They hate my guts. I kinda fucked them over. Aang: What is the matter with you two? Korra: Can we just find a place to chill out where Yangchen isn't banned, and Kyoshi isn't having a meltdown?
Hei-Ran: *watches as her daughter sprints across the mansion to look impressive in front of Kyoshi*
Hei-Ran: *remembers the time she was walking by Junsik and stared at him for so long she collided with a wall*
Hei-Ran: she’s just like me for real
Saw something that said Kyoshi and Kuruk likely ended up with more of a brother/sister relationship than a mentor/student one and I’m here for it:
Kyoshi, spiritually contacting Kuruk: holy shit dude you’re not gonna believe this
Kuruk: girl what’s going on out there?
Kyoshi: okay so basically Hei-Ran is so obviously into this Water Tribe chick right? So being the amazing future daughter in law that I am, I set them up
Kuruk, gasping: you didn’t!
Kyoshi: I totally did. It worked, as I knew it would because I know a useless bisexual when I see one. However, it seems that Rangi is unaware of the fact that they’re dating
Kuruk, cracking up: that’s adorable! Oh, that kid always had a bit of issues trying to find out who likes who
Kyoshi: I know right? Good thing I’m so perceptive!
Kuruk, snorting: yeah okay
Kyoshi, frowning: why did you say it like that?
Kuruk: you are probably then most dense woman alive
Kyoshi, offended: I am not! I am so aware of stuff!
Kuruk, deadpanned: Rangi had a crush on you literally the entire time you guys lived in the mansion
Kyoshi: that-that is a lie! There’s no way! She did not give me a single hint!
Kuruk: a month after you moved into the mansion, Rangi spent the entire day glued to your side because you mentioned you had a nightmare
Kyoshi, blushing: she was being a good friend
Kuruk: she was holding your hand the entire time. When have you seen Rangi initiate physical contact with anyone else in general?
Kyoshi:……………….if you weren’t dead already I’d punch you so hard you’d be sent to the spirit realm
"Rangi must have lived almost as long as kyoshi and also been staying alive via meditation, kyoshi would have just fallen apart without her"
No, we're missing an angst opportunity here guys
Yes, we all know that Kyoshi would be a mess without her and would probably either neglect herself to the point of dying or kill herself, but you know who else knows this?
Rangi.
I'm picturing Rangi on her deathbed, terrified of this eventuality, with her last breath begging Kyoshi not to die for her, to take care of herself.
Of course even with this, Kyoshi, despairing tries anyways and gets damn close.
But at the last second, she stops. She can hear Rangi almost see her crying in front of her, begging her not to do this.
So she lives, and keeps up her meditation because every morning she can picture Rangi, crying, begging her to keep going. To live for her.
So, over two centuries pass with several attempts, moments she almost gives in, almost let's go. The memory of Rangi stops her each time.
In the end though time takes its toll on her memory, her voice, her face, it all fades away.
Her grief and pain does not, only worsening with the realization she does not remember her love, her joy.
She can't remember her insistence on stupid horse stance training, their kiss on the beach, what made her laugh, what made her cry. Not even what either of those sounded like.
So-at last- when she tries, no voice, no tears, no face comes to stop her, to beg her to fulfill her final wish.
A wish she can't even remember.
