i headcanon that lestrade wasn’t grey before he met sherlock. but, five years of dealing with his shit and he was fully grey and perpetually stressed by the time he met john
On my third rewatch and thinking about the first episode John calling Sherlock an idiot and Sherlock smiling and asking him to dinner in the softest tone the man has ever used.
The man was really down bad after one case together
I love how Mycroft introduces himself as "Sherlock's archnemesis who has control over Britain" but it just turns out to be Sherlock's middle-aged brother.
Imagine
Here’s a little Johnlock blurb I wrote!
John opens the door to the bathroom. There stands Sherlock, staring at himself in the mirror with a towel wrapped loosely around his waist. A layer of shaving cream covers most of his lower face. Sherlock glances over, his gray eyes meeting John’s in the mirror.
“Oh… hey” John says a bit too quietly
He nods to acknowledge John's presence and continues to shave, the blade gliding across his face with practiced precision. There's a hint of exhaustion in his eyes. "Morning," he mutters in response.
“I didn’t even feel you leave the bed” John says as he walks up to the second sink.
A wry smile tugs at the corner of his mouth, but there's a hint of weariness in his voice as he replies, "I had a lot on my mind." He glances sidelong at John. "Didn't want to wake you."
John nods, leaning down to rinse his face in the sink.
Sherlock continues shaving, the sound of the blade against his face filling the air. He watches as John washes his face, but there's a hint of curiosity in his gaze. After a few moments, he asks, "You sleep all right?"
”Mhm, a bit hot, but it’s summer and all”
He nods slightly, still focusing on his task. "Summer nights can be uncomfortable. Too humid." He frowns, studying the last few patches of shaving cream on his cheek.
was that good?
Holmes brothers make me absolutely insane.
Mycroft is extremely stable, he goes through the same routine at the same time every day. He has carefully built a life well suited to himself: he has his job, his community, and his hobbies all in the same quiet and contained place. While I would argue that his is by no means anti-social, (he likes people! He really really does!) he obviously has some difficulty adjusting to the outside world at large. But he’s smart as hell so he’s figured out a way to have everything he needs.
Sherlock has had to do the same thing but as someone who just can’t do stability. He needs adventure, purpose, intrigue. He has built a career for himself, found a home and a partner, and is really, really fucking good at what he does. But he can’t keep any of it. Watson gets married, Sherlock fakes his own death, and he leaves behind everything. He returns of course, his life shattering and reforming into similar shapes over and over, but for those three years he’s back to the most basic constants of his life. He has his mind, his competence, and Mycroft.
It’s heartbreaking that Sherlock does not confide in Watson during those three years, but on the other hand, if it could only be one person, who else could it be? Who else understands him without explanation? Without judgement? Mycroft has known him his whole fucking life, in all likelihood he could see Sherlock’s hiatus coming from a mile away.
Mycroft is the most consistent thing In Sherlock’s extremely inconsistent life, and vice versa. When Sherlock needs stability he looks to Mycroft, and when Mycroft needs energy/adventure he looks to Sherlock. They just get each other.

"I am not sweet, I am just high"
- Sherlock Holmes
...
I know that in the books Watson says that Holmes cries rarely but I like to think that Holmes is more of a cryer than Watson by a longshot. I like to think despite being the more "emotional" of the two, Watson just doesn't cry much. I also love the headcanon that Sherlock actually cries a lot. Give me more crybaby Sherlock please.
I might be late to this but, I just realized that Sherlock was trying to kill himself on the plane. like he was purposefully overdosing because he knew he couldn't last six months knowing he would never see John again. Like there is no other explanation because he took the drugs before he found out about Moriarty right? And then he just happened to be super high when he tried to solve it and ended up in his Victorian fantasy. In short, my poor little baby needs a hug.
When I was a very tiny child my mom was in a local production of The Reluctant Resurrection of Sherlock Holmes, a play where Arthur Conan Doyle is hired to investigate a murder at a haunted house with Sherlock Holmes, a figment of Doyle’s imagination that only he can see and hear. Doyle very sincerely believes that the house is haunted, and Holmes thinks that Doyle is a moron
I was too young to appreciate this concept when I was a child, now that I’m older it’s the best concept for a play I’ve ever heard in my life.
Sherlock: Are we fighting or flirting? John: I'm pinning you against a wall with my hand around your neck- Sherlock: Your point?
its perfectly possible that bbc sherlock has an eating disorder bc he never eats on a case and he tries to always have a case so he kinda tries to never eat? idk just like I was thinking abt it and I hope it makes sense..?
