To me, Kou is a massive extrovert who radiates confidence and charm, so getting along with you wouldn’t be a problem for him.
I think that if his confidence makes you shy while other people don’t, he’ll take pride in it, it will make him feel special in a way.
However, I think Kou’s confidence and charm came with his proffesion. Being an idol is basically a 24/7 job, whenever you’re in public, you’re at work, so I think by acting confident he’s pushing aside feelings that would make him vulnerable.

The golden rays of dawn just starting to shine through the part in the curtains and cutting through the darkness of the couple's bedroom. The two lovebirds fast asleep in their king-size bed, buried beneath the cloud-like comforter and lazily draped over each other; Hylia lying on her back with an arm on Shu's back, and Shu lying on his stomach with a leg intertwined with hers and an arm fully wrapped around her stomach holding her ever so close.
After being in a coma-like slumber, Hylia finally began to wake. Heavy eyelids slowly beginning to open and greeting the world with her storm-like gray eyes. The dimly-lit room disorientating her waking mind.
Huh? Where am I?....the bedroom?
Her eyelids fluttering the coating of sleepiness away and eyes darting around the room, desperately trying to come to her senses. Locks of her hair were imprinted on her face, her chin encrusted with drool, her mouth and throat felt as dry as a desert. The last she remembered was documenting her experiment with hydrochloric acid and the new compounds from the university...so when the hell did she go to bed?
"...a troublesome woman, you are."
"H-huh?" Hylia jolted, fully realizing that Shu was snuggled up to her. Not only that, but they had been fully naked and sleeping skin-to-skin this entire time. She gazed over at Shu, his eyes still shut but a playful smirk was plastered on his face. "When...did-"
"You fell asleep at your silly little desk," he interrupted. "For such an intelligent woman....you are quite brainless" he finally opened his aquatic-blue eyes and met her gaze. His fingertips beginning to trace over stomach, slowly bringing them up to her chest and making small circles. "You didn't even flinch when I marked you." Looking down, she was totally astonished to see the sea of red and brown hues that were the hickeys and bite marks he adorned her breasts with. Her whole face became flushed a bright crimson shade.
"Y-you need to control yourself" she pouted, attempting to hide her arousal, "you can't just do that while I'm asleep!"
Shu chuckled to himself, his fangs just barely peeking through his mischievous grin. The aura of his gaze suddenly morphing to intimidation, and his hand now firmly grasping her abused breast.
"H-hah!" Hylia yelped, throwing her head back into her pillow and biting her lip, shockwaves of pain shooting down her spine and buckling her knees.
"Trying to threaten me when you're already so weak?...you really are a brainless bunny" he taunted her, ever so slightly tightening his grip to make her tremble in both pleasure and pain. She desperately gripped the sheets beneath her and panted breathlessly, reflexively arching her back. After what felt like an eternity, Shu finally loosened his grip. She collapsed back onto the bed and her mouth hung open trying to catch her breath, the occasional moan escaping from her lips. His hand traveled up from her chest to her burning hot cheek, gently caressing it with his cold thumb.
"Shhh..." he cooed softly, helping her come back to her senses and regulate her breathing. Though she was no longer in pain, Hylia found herself feeling lightheaded and her vision periodically going fuzzy. Locking herself up in her lab for almost an entire day without taking a break to eat or drink water, her body was very weak.
"...I'll have food brought up to us. Until then, you will rest." Shu pulled her close, nuzzling his head in the crook of her shoulder and keeping his hand on her cheek as they drifted back to sleep.
