Announcing Heatwaves - A Rotational Gameplay Story!

announcing Heatwaves - a rotational gameplay story!

what is heatwaves?

Heatwaves is literally what happens when you lie in bed late at night thinking about your blorbos and wondering what their lives would be like in high school. So I created a new save file, took some of my favorite sims (who are all successful adults in my main save) and turned them into teenagers so they could experience the best time of their lives - filled with drama, hormonal chaos and exams.

who are the protagonists?

Heatwaves focuses on the lives of four high school students and their classmates. Each family is played in turn for 7 days (Monday - Sunday).

please note!

I'm not very familiar with the US school system, as the German school system works a bit differently. The school system in Heatwaves will be a mix of my own experiences and made-up stuff.

The protagonists in Heatwaves are all between the ages of 17 and 19, as that is the usual age to graduate from high school in Germany.

I Had Way Too Much Fun Creating This Yearbook. Also I'm Fully Aware That A Yearbook Is Usually Created

I had way too much fun creating this yearbook. Also I'm fully aware that a yearbook is usually created at the end of a schoolyear (at least that's how it's done in Germany) but what better way is there than to introduce the characters in a high school story than via a silly yearbook entry? c:

POV: You're a teacher at Copperdale High School who volunteered to take the yearbook photos, and these are some pictures you took that didn't make it into the actual yearbook.

Day One: Cheer Captain

In freshman year, Stephanie Clay wowed the Cheer team by being able to do a kick twist basket toss during try-outs. Now in her senior year, Stephanie is the cheer captain and is loving being in charge. Other than cheerleading, Stephanie enjoys Bring It On marathons with her friends (yes, she even loves Bring It On: Fight To The Finish), and a long morning run every weekend.

Day Two: Rebel

A rebel through and through, Chase Reed's hard exterior often scares people away. This is what he prefers, but sometimes it feels quite lonely when people do not see your true self. You see, Chase actually has a heart of gold and he really wants to help those around him. He just hopes that one day people can see him as a rebel with a cause.

Day Three: Band Kid

When he was only three years old, Calder Thomas started learning how to play the piano. Soon after he also started learning how to play the French horn and the trombone. His love for music drove him towards joining the school marching band, where he hopes to play to his heart's content, and maybe make a few friends that are not inanimate musical instruments.

Day Four: Emo

Leah Martinez hates the word 'emo'. So what if they like wearing black and reading Bram Stoker novels by candlelight - they're way more than that! They also love writing and baking, as well as binge watching Love Island. So, don't call them emo - not unless you want them to put a curse on you.

Day Five: Freshman

Fresh out of middle school, Peter Choi was pretty excited for high school. He looked forward to making new friends, going on dates, learning more subjects, joining more sports, and of course, having a good time. High school was going to be a breeze.

Day Six: Redneck

Tye Camden was a redneck - or so that's what everyone else said. He did not really feel any particular way about being called a redneck. All he really cared about was spending time outdoors, becoming an ace fisherman, and wearing cut-off jean shorts 24/7.

Day Seven: Try Hard

Ever since she was a little kid, Georgina Hawthorne felt like she needed to try extra hard to impress the people around her. Her parents were both big shot lawyers and wanted her to follow in their footsteps, so Georgina felt extra pressure to do her best to impress them. And so this was what she also did at school - she made sure she looked immaculate, and that she had the best grades in every subject she did. She hoped that this would get her into law school one day.

Day Eight: Hipster

Colby Langston was far too cool for the mainstream. Starbucks coffee? No way, he preferred an authentic matcha green tea latte from a small coffeeshop run out of an abandoned train station. Pop music? Hell nah, he preferred listening to folktronica and art history podcasts. Going to class? Nope, he'd rather comb the streets for the best thrift shops and vinyl stores. Colby Langston was definitely too cool for school.

Day Nine: Party-Thrower

An avid party animal, Serena Rojas loved to throw a good party. Which was what she did at least every other weekend at her parents' mansion. These parties were the perfect opportunity for her to dress up and show off her incredible dance moves.

Day Ten: 16 and Pregnant

Mia O'Connor was pregnant. She tried to keep it a secret, but of course that did not last long, and now the whole school knows. She did have the option of terminating, but actually Mia did not regret being pregnant. Yeah, it may be a little awkward in school, but with the support of her parents and her boyfriend, Mia was happy to welcome her little sunflower to the world.

Day Eleven: Theater Kid

From Chicago to Romeo and Juliet, Ryan Fields has pretty much starred in every theater production in high school. Now with his eyes on the leading role for The Importance of Being Earnest, Ryan has locked himself in his bedroom as he prepares himself for the upcoming auditions. Not even his annoying little sister, Sharpay, can distract him now.

Day Twelve: Bully

Don't be fooled by her sweet, preppy look, Rebecca Evans is actually a cold-hearted and cutthroat cyberbully. As the editor of the school newspaper, Rebecca is always on the prowl for secrets and information. And, she would do anything that it takes to get the most juicy story for the newspaper, including attacking people online and stirring up controversy.

Day Thirteen: In a Rock Band

Meet Harley Rhodes - a sharp-witted junior with an even sharper hand at playing the bass guitar. Her band, Black Sun, are currently preparing for Copperdale's Battle of the Bands this weekend. Harley is absolutely confident that she is going to win.

Day Fourteen: Loner

Painfully shy, Archer Yamamoto prefers to avoid people and be by himself. He's also a whiz with computers. So instead of hanging out in the cafeteria during lunch period, he would be in the computer lab working on his latest project. Maybe he will quietly make it big some day.

Day Fifteen: Quarterback

Clayton Winters is the star quarterback of Copperdale High. Popular, handsome, and charismatic, Clayton rules the roost in Copperdale. Luckily, he goes against the high school movie trope, and he's also kind and easygoing. Clayton Winters definitely had a bright future ahead of him.
