Hi! I love all of your story and I think I've followed you since for the love and money? I really think that you're the best at writing slice of life story, so here I am humbly request:

Slice of life + namjoon x reader + any genre + maybe a doctor or single dad! AUđŸ„șđŸ„ș?

I really hope you read this, and it doesn't matter if you don't choose mine. I just want you to know how I enjoy reading yours💜

I think a lot of my readers have been dying for me to write a single dad!AU lol. Admittedly, it’s a bit hard to write a slice of life drabble considering my style of slice of life consists of a lot of slow burn which is impossible to execute in a drabble but I’ll give it my best shot! Hope you enjoy this one!!

Hi! I Love All Of Your Story And I Think I've Followed You Since For The Love And Money? I Really Think

↳ Three Peas in a Pod

“Wait!”

There’s a panicked shout that echoes throughout the quiet, suburban street. A street that’s already asleep. The lampposts are illuminated in the distance, their light faint and warm.

You whirl around, keys in hand, the headlights of your car already glowing as you pressed for the doors to unlock. “Namjoon?! What’s wrong?”

He catches up to you on his driveway, worn and tired, huffing and puffing. “W-We need to talk.”

There’s an uneasy emotion that brews in the pit of your stomach. You have an inkling of what he wants to say. You have for a while now.

“Maybe we should wait,” you offer. “We’re both tired and I have work tomorrow
”

It has been a long day. Just looking at his haggard appearance, it’s enough to know. His jeans are grimy from the dirt at the park, tee shirt stained from making lunch and dinner, and his hair’s been disheveled by tiny, plush hands grasping at him. You’re sure you don’t look any better.

But as you turn to your car, Namjoon grabs your wrist and you find his steadfast gaze.

He shakes his head, stern. “No more waiting.”

You know you can’t put this conversation off any longer. You’ve already evaded three times.

He inhales a deep breath and you wait anxiously. You’re not sure what he’s going to say exactly, but then he exhales— “Stay with us.”

“What?”

“Don’t go,” he says in a low voice that rumbles through your ear drums and restarts the rapid pitter-pattering of your heart. Namjoon’s eyes are softened and sincere. “You don’t have to go.”

You muster a smile. You’re reminded of how similar he and his daughter are to one another. God knows she always throws a tantrum when you put on your coat — as if she’s learnt to associate that with you leaving. It was a battle and a half to get the two-year old asleep tonight too. She knows you won’t be there when she wakes up. She’s too smart for her own good, too much like her dad. It still breaks your heart that one of the first words she learnt was ‘stay’.

But now it was Namjoon asking for the same.

“I don’t have any of my clothes here and—”

“No. I don’t just mean today. I mean tomorrow and the next day and the day after that.”

He lets go of your wrist and your smile falls. The courage inside of you becomes timid.

“I can’t. This
.can’t happen, Joon.”

“Why not?” His brows furrow, a knot forming in between. “You’re the one who told me that it’s been two years. That it’s okay to move on. That it’s what she would’ve wanted.”

“Yes.” You lift your head. “But not with me.”

Namjoon’s frown deepens. You hate it when he looks like that. He’s always looked much better smiling with all cheeks and dimples. The same smile his daughter inherited. “Why?”

“Is it because you were Eunbi’s best friend?” he asks— no — he demands to know.

“No.”

You still remember. Eunbi’s own parents pulled you aside on Lia’s birthday. They must've seen something between you and Namjoon, something that you are afraid to define. But they told you it was okay, that they were glad their granddaughter has someone like you by her side in place of her mother. And Yoongi’s right. You know Eunbi more than anyone and she would’ve never held it against you.

But
.

“I think you’re confused.”

The words are whispered out of you, torn from your pained throat, the thoughts that have plagued you for years finally spoken aloud.

Namjoon freezes. His broad frame becomes rigid.

His expression turns from confusion to anger.

But you stand your ground. “You’ve been going through a lot. We’ve been going through a lot. After...after Eunbi passed away, I was there. I was there from the start, Namjoon. And I know Lia loves me as much as she loves you. But if it were anyone else—”

“No,” he interrupts, already knowing where you’re going with this. “That’s not true.”

“But isn’t it?” You search his expression desperately. “What if it wasn’t me? What if it was someone else?” The questions linger between the pair of you in the pregnant silence. “I don’t want you to be confused just because I’d make a good mother to Lia. I’ll still be here for her no matter what, so you shouldn’t feel obligated to be together. Or to have to compensate me with a relationship.”

“Compensate?!”

His abrupt shout makes you flinch. You’re taken aback by Namjoon’s contorted expression, the way his jaw is clenched, teeth gritted. “Is that what you thought this entire time?”

You open your mouth. But you’re speechless.

Namjoon looks like he doesn’t know where to begin. “What about that kiss on New Years?”

Your eyes widen. You can’t believe he remembers. “W-We were drunk.”

“No, we weren’t. What about Christmas?”

“Namjoon.”

“And what about that June? Did you think I did all of that to compensate you? Did you think I did all of that because I want you to stick around for Lia?”

“No—”

“Because I got confused?” His chest rises and falls, staggering breaths stolen out of his lungs. Namjoon holds your gaze and he closes the distance between your bodies with a step. And another. Another. “You’ve become the person who knows me the most, so stop lying to yourself, Y/N. I meant what I said that day. I love you. I love you. I love you.”

A tear falls from your welled eyes and you don’t realize you’re crying until it chokes out of your chest from his declarations. You take the last step towards him and come to press your face to his shoulder. Namjoon wraps his arms around you, holding you close.

After a moment, you pull away to look at him. Your eyes are still glossed in the moonlight.

He softly exhales— “so stay.”

You nod twice before leaning up to kiss him one more time and it’s certainly not for the last.

“All commercial flights out of the northeastern region are delayed until further notice. Our expert team here at TXT613 is predicting that the winter storm will move into the surrounding cities of Candy Cane Lane, Sleighbells, Chestnut and, Snow Falls at around 6:30pm. This system of storms is gaining traction as we speak and is expected to bring about catastrophic snow fall in the regions on our screen. We advise those who are living or lodging in these cities to have the necessary supplies and prepare for a potential loss of power.”

You’re leaning on your elbows, helplessly watching the screen. The bar you are sitting in his bustling with activity, but no one seems to pay much attention to the disturbing content playing through the speakers.

“Excuse me?” You call softly to the bartender, “How long do these things normally last?”

He cocks his head for a moment before glancing behind him at the screen, “The weather? Oh well-“ He chuckles as he sets a glass onto the countertop, “-if their predictions are correct, you’re looking at a delay of at least a few days, maybe even a week

Someone to Love.

Hello!!!

Here is my gift for 8k subscribers!!!

Alpha Jungkook x Omega OC Werewolf Au!

Genre ! : Fluff . Mild Angst. Mild Smut.

Work Count : 6k

Summary : Widowed Omega Aerin isn't really looking for love. But Jeon Jungkook the handsome alpha who gets washed over a waterfall, is willing to offer it to her anyway.

Complete!!!

The thing about living in a clan as small as ours, was that word always travelled fast.

We were a close knit pack, everyone knew everyone and more importantly, everyone was always in everyone’s business. Which is why, it was no surprise that, even before the Head Alpha could send word for me, I already knew about the young alpha who had , apparently, washed over the waterfall. The drop was a good twenty five feet and the bottom of the pool littered with sharp rocks. He was obviously injured.

As the healer, I would have to be there to examine him.

Nevertheless, I waited till Jinyoung came knocking on my door, sometime after the midday meal, his face urgent and voice a little shaky. I had just finished wrapping my daughter against my breast, tying the end of the flannel across my back and over my shoulder . I pulled on the ends, securing the wrap around my torso, and making sure her limbs were free to move about.

Sera giggled, chubby fists wet with drool as she shoved them into her mouth. She was teething and that meant excessive drooling and a penchant for biting everything I sight. But like this, she was usually well settled, the warmth of my body and my scent lulling her to a drwsy state. She would be asleep by the time we reached the injured wolf.

My son was still out playing with the other alpha pups in the woods. He wouldn’t be back till sundown. And even if he did, Joowon was almost nine winters old now. He could fend for himself in the hut till I got back.

I quickly grabbed my shawl, wrapping it over my shoulder, before moving to the door and opening it.

“Aerin? Alpha Kim sent for you, there’s an injured wolf you need to tend to.” He said urgently and I didn’t miss the four or five young omegas hovering behind him, giggling and coy. I shook my head. Apparently, even a half dead, injured alpha wasn’t safe from these younglings. I gave them a chiding smile but they merely laughed some more.

“Of course, Jinyoung . Let me just grab my bag.” I quickly picked the small carry-all tote I used for visits. It had almost all the tinctures, ointments and salves that I stocked in the apothecary attached to my hut, in smaller quantities. I also kept a polished set of needles and tools in case I had to extract stubborn splinters of jagged rock ends out of flesh. For being one of the strongest breed, it was ridiculous how often alphas got hurt doing the silliest things.

Like going over a waterfall.

As we began the short trek over to the Head alpha’s cabin, the throng of smitten omegas surrounded me, looking bright eyed.

“They say he’s very handsome, unnie. And young!” One of them laughed.

I hummed.

“Then one must hope the rocks in the pool didn’t leave too much of a mark .” I said casually.

“I wouldn’t mind a scar or two, as long as he has his
you know..” Another set of giggles.

I shook my head, laughing. The girls were incorrigible but that was their right. They were all young, barely twenty and unmated. They knew nothing about the marriage bed , nothing about the intimacy that came with it. The love the commitment. My heart ached.

Two years and still my heart ached something fierce .

“Just tell him he has to rest for a month at least, unnie. Tell him he can’t leave for a month and I’ll work my charm.” The Head Alpha’s daughter Jisoo gave me a sharp little smile and I shook my head.

“I’ll do no such thing. And I don’t appreciate you lusting after a man who may well be dying.” I said sternly and Jisoo had the good grace to blush.

“Unnie, its just that
. I’m bored of all these dumb alphas panting after me. They’re so
uncouth. I just want to meet someone new.” She pouted.

We reached the small hillock that would lead to the Head alpha’s house and I gave her a smile.

“Well, in that case, I’ll patch him up real good for you. But till then, you and your girls, why don’t you go occupy yourselves elsewhere.”

Jisoo wrinkled her nose but listened and I smiled at Jinyoung, hugging sera closer to my chest and making haste to the hut in front of us. Jinyoung led me to a side door and further into a room at the end of the narrow corridor.

“Aerin! Child
 You’re here!” The Head alpha held his arms out and I embraced him quickly. The injured alpha was laid out in the middle of the room on a thick pallet of straw and blankets. They had stripped him of his wet clothes and he looked like he was sleeping. I stared at his face and felt my breath catch.

He was breathtakingly beautiful. I couldn’t look away. Right up , I could make out three flesh wounds, jagged and slightly deep : one across his brow, another across his shoulder and one right over his chest. Dark ink curled all over his torso and he looked young but also like a warrior.

“We just found out he’s from the Jeon clan. The head alpha’s son.” Yugyeom, knelt by his shoulders, pointing out the inked shoulder which marked him as the heir to the Jeon pack.

“We’ve already sent word. They’ll be here to fetch him in a day or so. We need only tend to him till then. Well. Give him all hospitality and treat him like a king. We need to remain in the Jeon’s good graces.” The Head alpha said sternly and all of them bowed.

I quickly, grabbed my bag, laying it out on the floor and crawling over to his side.

“Hot water and spirit , please.” I told the maid standing by but the Head alpha quickly held a hand up.

“Aerin ah? I have a meeting here with the Min and Jung clan leaders. The autumn festival is set to begin tonight. Its impossible for me to keep him here and all the other alphas are going to be busy too. I want him to get the best care possible and I can think of no one better than you, fort this task. Can we shift him to your hut?”

I swallowed nervously. I didn’t really entertain patients in my house. Especially not alphas. My son got jittery and my daughter was too used to my own scent.

“As a personal favor to your alpha?” He said insistently, eyes flashing red and I realized it wasn’t a request. Rather a command.

“I
 Yes, alpha.” I said hesitantly. “ Can I just examine him now, make sure nothing’s broken, before we shift him?”

“Yes of course my dear.” The alpha bowed before stepping aside. I quickly glanced at everyone else.

“Please leave.” I said quickly and they flushed, bowing before moving out of the room.

“Should I stay , Aerin?” Jinyoung asked nervously and I shook my head. “ Just wait outside and close the door for me, Jin.”

Once the door shut, I quickly glanced down at Sera who had curled into my chest and fallen asleep. I brought a bit of the fabric by chest over her head, so she wouldn’t get too much of the alpha’s scent. Kneeling down, I went about peeling the blanket off him.

He was a beautiful man, I thought absently, long limbs and thick muscles all over and it was no doubt his strong, well kept body that had saved him.

Other than a few more surface wounds on his legs and a gash on his thigh, he seemed relatively unharmed. I did run my fingers over his joints and arms, carefully looking for any swelling or discoloration that would signify broken bones. I carefully gripped his shoulders, turning him over gently to examine his back. I made a mental note of all the cuts that looked like they would have to be sewn together, so I could prepare enough string for it. I leaned over to press my ears against his chest, noting the rise and fall of his lungs.

A hand brushed over the back of my head, gentle and soft.

I jumped, wrapping both hands around sera and scooting back in panic, eyes wide as I stared at the man on the floor, now blinking tiredly at me.

“I
 I..” I couldn’t get my words out and he groaned .

“Am I dead? Are you an angel?” He whispered.

I blinked, blood rushing to my face as I tried to calm my breathing.

“Jinyoung!!!” I yelled sharply and the door opened, Jinyoung stepping in and staring wide eyed at the alpha on the pallet. He was struggling to sit up and I quickly pulled myself together.

“Alpha Jeon! Please
 You must stay still. ” I said quickly, pushing my palms against his chest, helping him lay back down, trying to ignore how his eyes danced all over my face, nostrils flared .” I’m Aerin, the healer from the Kim pack. You remember what happened today?”

He groaned again, lifting a shaky hand to press against his head. I moved closer, gently reaching out to grab his wrist, pulling his fingers away from the still wet wound on his brow, and his eyes clashed against mine, wide and steady. He stared pointedly at where my fingers curled around his wrists and I let go quickly.

“Yes
.. one of the pups almost went over the waterfall. I
 I tried to get him out.” He said softly. He glanced at Jinyoung. The latter looked away, clearly nervous.

“Pup?” I asked, heart dropping and he gave me a small smile. I tried not to let my gaze linger on his lips as he chuckled lightly.

“Can you help me up, kid?” He asked softly and Jinyoung startled, glancing at me.

I shook my head. I turned to Jungkook, heart racing. He sighed, resting back against the bed.

“Don’t worry, angel. I managed to toss her back to her father just before I went over the edge. I’m certain that she’s perfectly alright.”

“well, that’s a relief.” I hesitated, feeling awkward. Sera stirred and Jungkook’s gaze went to her again.

“she’s yours?” He asked gently and I blinked, glancing at Jinyoung nervously. It seemed too personal but I couldn’t imagine not answering without seeming rude.

“Yes, sire.” I bowed politely, moving back a bit more as Jungkook inhaled and reached out again, this time gripping my wrist. He scented the air and I flinched , yanking my hand away and quickly standing up, uncomfortable. He was still staring at me, gaze steady.

“You
 You can tell the others that he’s conscious. We can move-” I stopped when the alpha cut me off.

“You don’t smell mated. You haven’t been with a man in years.” He said quietly and now Jiyoung looked uncomfortable too.

“Alpha Jeon, I-”

“Jungkook. Call me Jungkook.”

My heart jumped at the thought of addressing him so intimately. I shook my head.

“I’m looking for a mate. Can I court you, angel?” He said suddenly and my jaw dropped.

“There’s
 There’s a dozen unmated omegas outside.” I choked out. Was I dreaming ? This couldn’t be happening.

“That’s not what I asked. Whom must I speak with? To court you? Your Head alpha.” He turned to Jinyoung. “ Please send word to Alpha Kim that I require an audience with him. And that its very important that he come here as soon as possible.”

“Please don’t.” I said quietly, feeling my body tremble and he froze.

“What’s wrong?” He said quietly.

I shook my head.

“I have a son. I’m not
 I have a son. He’s almost nine winters old. He still
 He loves his father. The man who raised him
 I can’t
. it would break him. Please, Alpha Jeon. You have power here and I have none. Your word is law and I’m bound to honor it but please, please consider. My son
”

Jungkook’s gaze softened incredibly at that.

“I have a ten year old brother.” He said gently. “ What you’re saying is that it isn’t the head alpha’s approval that I need. It is your son’s.”

I blinked, thrown.

“I
”

“Then you must promise me this. If your son
” He paused, “ What’s his name?”

“I
 Joowon.”

“If Joowon tells you that he wouldn’t mind having me in his life
.will you consider letting me court you.”

I could only stare. Jinyoung cleared his throat looking completely enthralled by the drama unfolding in front of him. I saw a glint of mischief in his gaze and felt my hackles rise.

“Alpha, there’s a festival in our clan. It lasts three weeks and is filled with festivities and joyous celebrations. I do believe the Kim pack would be honored to have you stay with us, enjoying our hospitality and the bountiful gifts of nature we here in the lowlands enjoy.”

I gaped at him in disbelief.

“I
 “

“That’s settled then. I will send for my pack members as well. They would love to share this time with you.” He turned to me.

I exhaled, certain that he had hit his head on the way down the falls.

“You’re insane.” I said softly, shaking my head. “ You’re free to enjoy all that my clan has to offer
. But, I’m not on the menu, Alpha Jeon.”

I quickly stood up.

“Tell Alpha Kim that he can fend for himself in one of the huts we have for heats and ruts. I’ll send one of my apprentices to sew up his wounds and apply salve on him.”

“I’m afraid not, Aerin. You know what the chief said. It has to be you.” Jin grinned and I glared at him.

Jungkook was smiling too.

“Come now, angel. Just because you don’t like me
.yet
 don’t shun your duties.”

Good Lord.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Fucking hell, what the actual fuck
” Jungkook swore and I glared at him, grabbing a strip of white linen and balling it up before pressing it into his mouth, gagging him.
He stared at me, eyes wide in surprise and mouth open around the fabric.
“Stop swearing in front of my son.” I snapped. Joowon laughed, carefully threading the twine through the eye of the cleaned needle. He dipped the twine and the needle into the warm water and the spirit again.
“Come now mother, you know I can say worse things.” He stuck his tongue out and I glared at him.
“Not in this house, you can’t. Also keep it down
 I’ve just put Sera to bed.” I carefully pinched the skin over his chest together before reaching out and slipping the needle into his skin. I worked carefully and diligently, focused on the task and when I was finally done, I glanced up, only for my gaze to clash with Jungkook’s.
“I.. were you staring the whole time?” I asked, blushing. Jungkook spat the gag out and grinned, boyish and naughty.
“Can’t help it. The view is truly breathtaking.”
I rolled my eyes.
“I wasn’t kidding when I said that there are omegas here who would love to be courted by you. You haven’t met any of them yet and that is why you seem to be
 so
 “ I shook my head.
“Joowon ah
 Who’s the most beautiful woman in this clan?” Jungkook asked firmly and my son hummed from next to me.
“Mother, of course.”
I gaped at the pair of them.
“See? I trust Joowon’s judgement implicitly. “ Jungkook shrugged.
Joowon laughed again and I didn’t miss the looks he kept tossing at the alpha. Curious but also laced with a lot of admiration. I wasn’t surprised. Joowon had never been suspicious or hesitant in offering his friendship to people. And Jungkook had regaled him with tales about hunts and fishing trips and kayak rides in rapids
.. and the younger was now clearly intrigued and almost halfway to smitten with the man.
My own heart raced , pulse pounding in a way it hadn’t in years. And yet, I knew it was futile. Men like Jungkook
. They didn’t really fall in love with women like me. All these flowery words, all this flirting
.it was for one thing only. And once he got it, he would leave. Of course he would.
But that was the problem. For the first time in two years, I considered it. Considered letting him have it
.have me. But with it , came a nagging wish that he wasn’t joking. That perhaps, I wasn’t as
.undesirable as my late husband had made me feel.
I shook my head to clear the haze of dreams, impossible girlish dreams that came with his scent and his proximity. I didn’t want to go down that road. I wasn’t
 I may be younger than Jungkook but I was still too old to be courted and to start a new life with someone. Least of all someone like Jungkook.
I glanced back up at him as I carefully applied salve on the stitches, fingers light on dusky smooth skin. He was still staring at me, and as I bent in closer, his hair brushed my forehead. My eyes fell on his nipple and my mouth went dry. I breathed out and looked up at him, shaking my head and pulling away.
“You’re all done alpha.” I whispered.
His hand crept up to my knee, squeezing gently.
“I’m just getting started.” He whispered and I bit my lips, looking away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Father
 you shouldn’t have come .” Jungkook was groaning and I could only stare in horror , trying to process the fact that both Alpha Jeon and his wife were now standing in my hut, fussing over their son and ruffling his hair like he was five years old.

“Nonsense !” Alpha Jeon thundered, making me jump. “ You went over the waterfall and you expect me to not be worried. I brought our healer but I see the Kim clan has an exceptionally talented young healer themselves. My son looks as good as new , dear girl.” He grinned at me and I smiled shakily.

“I’m going to court her, father.” Jungkook said without any preamble and my heart dropped to my knees. Lady Jeon’s gaze snapped to me and I retreated further, clutching Sera to my chest in panic.

“No.. I.. no he’s not. I’m sorry, Alpha, I
 I should go
” I dived for Joowon’s wrist, yanking my son along and moving to the door.

“Wait, child.” Lady Jeon’s voice made me still and I bit my lips, squeezing my eyes shut in horror. Surely whatever was coming
it couldn’t be good
 t would be the same thing I’d heard over the years, the same threats, the same insults

“Let me look at you.” Lady Jeon said and I trembled a bit, turning to her nervously, prepared for rejection and annoyance.

I found none.

All I could see was genuine interest that morphed into pleasure as she took in my features.

“What a beautiful girl you are.” She whispered , “ You can do so much better than my savage son, who apparently doesn’t know his way up or down a waterfall.”

Jungkook growled from the bed.

“Mother.”

Lady Jeon gave him a look.

“I’m serious. The Kim clan , I’m sure must have several fine young men, all of them willing to court her. What makes you think they would hand her over to you, Jungkook.” He said regally and I hesitated.

“I
 I’ve been mated before. These are my kids.” I said hesitantly.

Lady Jeon blinked.

“Does that make a difference?”

I couldn’t respond, mind in shambles.

“Unless
what we’ve heard about the Kim clan isn’t true? And they are archaic and small minded when it comes to their women?” She said sharply, turning around to glare at my Head Alpha who looked horrified as he bowed.

“of course not , my lady..we
 We all treat Aerin with the utmost respect.. She is as our daughter.”

“That is not what I asked. Has she not been courted?” Alpha Jeon asked gruffly and Jungkook made a noise of impatience.

“I’m saying I’ll court her, why is everyone-“

“Quiet Jungkook. “ Lady Jeon said sharply before turning to me.

“Have you not been courted after your husband’s death. Its unheard of for a young wolf to remain without a mate. Did none of the men in your clan step up?”

I hesitated before deciding on the truth.

“Joowon-ah? Could you go play outside for a while?” I said softly and he hesitated before glancing at Jungkook and running off. Once I was sure he was out of earshot I turned to Lady Jeon.

“They only offered to take me on as a mistress.” I said honestly, staring at my feet. “ And
 I have a son. Old enough to understand these things. He
 He heard his friends talk about how I was
 He asked me if what they said was true
. If I was just anyone’s to use or take, now that his father was dead. I
. I had to reassure him that it wasn’t the case
. That I wouldn’t
 That I didn’t need to warm anyone’s bed to survive.”

“She’s coming with us tomorrow.” Jungkook growled from the bed and I glared at him.

“Please let me finish.” I snapped. “ And yes, there are men here who feel that way but Alpha Kim is right. They have for the most part, treated me with great respect and I
 I enjoy my life here. I’m not lacking for anything..” Except someone to love, someone to hold through cold winter nights, someone to share bright spring sunshine with
someone to kiss in the rain
 someone who would go to war for me

“So? You don’t accept my son’s offer of courting? Is that what you’re saying?” Lady Jeon asked gently.

“Don’t answer that.” Jungkook’s voice came from my right and I stared at him.

“Alpha Jeon
”

“Could all of you give me a moment alone with her?” Jungkook said quietly and Alpha Kim bowed.

“Please let me show you to your resting quarters.” He said gently and Jungkook’s parents shot him one last look before leaving the cabin. I stayed still as everyone filed out, one after the other.

Once it was just him and I, Jungkook cleared his throat.

“Just three weeks.” He said softly, “ Give me three weeks. Three weeks and if at the end of it you tell me that you don’t want to leave your clan
I’ll accept it without argument. You’ll never see me again.”

I sighed in exhaustion.

“You’re going to be here for the three weeks of the festival anyway. My answer isn’t going to change. I’m not going to fall in love with you, alpha Jeon. ” I said quietly.

He grinned.

“I’m going to remind you of what you just said
.six months from now
when you’re my wife.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jungkook was out and about three days later and to my utter horror, jealousy reared its head when I saw the extent to which he was popular with the other omegas. I stayed in the sidelines, holding sera and keeping an eye on Joowon, watching Jungkook get accosted at every turn.
But Jungkook it seemed, had no interest in wooing me.
He was wooing my son.
“These are delicious, Jungkook.” Joowon said excitedly, hands full of candied fruits and honey dipped grapes.
“Stop calling him that
” I hissed , but Joowon merely stuck his tongue out at me, stuck firmly to Jungkook’s side. Jungkook sat on the hard ground of the hut, surrounded by wooden strip and workmen tools, building a miniature windmill for Joowon who had never seen one before. The wind didn’t hit the lowlands much but Jungkook’s clan lived up hill and the windmills helped bring water to the canals.
He gave me a grin, his eyes trained on my lips as I sung gently to Sera, rocking her back and forth on my arms.
“You must give some of that honeyed fruit to your mother too, won-ah
 perhaps she will have something sweet to say to me.” He grinned.
I rolled my eyes.
“I believe you’ve heard enough honey dipped words from the many omegas who can’t get enough of you.” I said impishly.
Jungkook laughed.
“ All I need is one word from you my lady
.” He whispered and I flushed.
“ One word? No matter the question
? What word is that. ” I shook my head.
“Yes.” Jungkook smiled. “ Because it is that way with me. No matter the question , if you were the one asking, my answer would be yes.”
I stared at him, thrown by the magnitude of sincerity in his tone.
“Mother, ask him if he hates you
” Joowon giggled snapping me out of my thoughts.
I laughed and Jungkook glared.
“You’re supposed to be helping me brat.” He said with faux anger, eyes still excessively fond as he pulled my son into a playful headlock.
I watched them wrestle around Joowon smiling in a way that I had never seen him do in a long long time and my heart ached. Was it wrong
 I wondered, to be this greedy? To want a lifetime of this
.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“ They say you never mourned him.” Jungkook sat on the rocking chair, shirt unbuttoned and Sera lying on his chest, the warmth of his body and the staccato of his heart lulling her to sleep . I sat on the floor, leaning back against the wall, Joowon was already asleep nect to me, head resting on my lap.

I watched him, watched the large, rugged hand, so gentle on my daughter’s back, stroking her gently, as he hummed sweetly.

“there was nothing to mourn.” I whispered bitterly, threading my fingers through my son’s hair, the silky strands falling through like water.

“He wasn’t a good man then.”

I shook my head.

“He married me when I was sixteen. And when I was old enough to see him for what he was, he didn’t want me anymore. And he died because he tried to rape the Head Alpha’s daughter.” I felt that familiar sickening feeling of disgust.

Jungkook didn’t say anything merely staring off into the fire blazing in the hearth.

“Is that why you think
you’re too old?” He asked gently and I flushed.

“It didn’t help with my self esteem.” I admitted.

“And is that why you..hesitate? To tell me how you truly feel.”

“It’s complicated. I
 It s not easy baring my heart to you
” I looked away.

“You’re beautiful. I want you. Everyday I feel like I’m falling deeper.” Jungkook said quietly.

I stared at him, stunned.

He turned around and smiled at me.

“It’s not complicated for me. Its hard to watch you keep me at arm’s length. It’s hard to go to sleep on the floor, knowing your warm body is at touching distance. Its hard watching these omegas mistreat you because they’re jealous of the attention you get from me. And its hard
.telling myself I can’t just pull you into my arms and kiss you in front of them all so they know . ” He smiled, “But telling you how I feel? It’s not hard at all.”

I felt my mouth go dry and stared at my knees.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Marry me.” Jaebum had cornered me by the apothecary and I stared at him in shock.
“What?” I snapped, “ What nonsense is this? Move out of my way.”
“Alpha Kim wants Jisoo to marry Jungkook. He has asked one of us to get you out of the picture. And no one else wants another man’s sloppy seconds. I’m the only one who agreed so you should be honored. Just say yes and come with me.”
He made to grab me and I stumbled back in terror only to crahs into a broiad back, right behind me. A familiar scent and strong arms coming around to hug me.
“Perhaps, Alpha Kim should reconsider his plans. Because I’m sure he doesn’t want the entire Jeon clan to come to war with him.”
Jaebum stepped back.
“you would start a war over some omega?” He scoffed.
Jungkook grinned shaking his head.
“No. But I would start a war over my woman.”
Jaebum scoffed again before spitting at his feet and walking away. Jungkook glared at him till he disappeared from view. My limbs started trembling the moment I realized what had just happened. After years of working for these people
healing them and mending their wounds
.Was this how they saw me?
I went limp in his arms and he hugged me close.
“Angel
.are you alright?” Jungkook whispered and I swallowed, turning around and staring at him.
“I
 They
 Why would he do that?” I whispered and Jungkook reached out cupping my face gently.
“I don’t know. But he’s an idiot. As if I would let another man lay a finger on you
” He said softly and I laughed, shaking my head.
I looked back up at him, letting my gaze fall to his lips. As if on cue the heavens opened and it began to rain
 Jungkook swore, moving to find shelter but I grabbed his arm, pulling him closer.
“Alpha Jeon
” I said quietly, water dripping down my face as the rain intensified . “ Will you kiss me?”
Jungkook’s eyes went comically wide. He was already dripping wet, hair falling in soaked strands into his eyes.
“Wh-What?”
“I’ve waited for many years for this kiss. A kiss in the rain. With a man who would go to war for me.”
Jungkook laughed at that and I stared as he leaned down, gently pressing his lips to my forehead. Tears sprung at the tender gesture and I gripped the fabric of his tunic hard. Laughing I buried my face into his chest, as he pressed a multitude of kisses on top of my head.
“Angel. When I kiss you for the first time
it’s not going to stop with a kiss.” He winked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Leaving my clan was easier, when I reminded myself of what they had done. But I did my duty, offering my greetings and farewell to all the elders, before moving to link my fingers with Jungkook , who held Sera in his arms.

“ I owe you my gratitude. Because you’ve kept her safe all these years. But from now she holds no ties to your clan.” Jungkook said firmly, and I stepped closer to him.

I watched as Jungkook’s father shared a ceremonial glass of wine with the head alpha.

And just like that, I was no longer a Kim.

I was a Jeon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Mother
” I whispered , mortified , watching Lady Jeon, wrap my daughter in her baby clothes, Packing her clothes and Joowon’s clothes as well. “ Please it isn’t necessary.”
“Nonsense. Jungkook and you need to spend time together. Alone. And I need to spend time with my grandchildren. I’ve already missed out on nine years of Joowon’s life , I refuse to miss out on another second. Besides, he has never seen a windmill he says? My husband has made arrangements for us to pitch our tents right next to one.”
I could only smile and watch as my excitable son practically bounced off the wall, eager to go on a trip with halmeoni and harabeoji.
Jungkook stood next to me, wrapping both arms around me.
“Say the word and We’ll leave in a hour right behind them.” He said gently and I smiled, shaking my head.
“No
 your parents want this. I can tell. Let them enjoy some time with their grandkids.”
“Excellent.” Jungkook gripped my shoulders and turned me around.
“I’m in the mood for some honeyed words.” I said quietly.
“Jeon Aerin. My angel. Mine and Mine forever.” He said softly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Six months later :

Jungkook pressed kisses down my back and I grinned into the sheets, watching the springtime sun spill into our room, soaking the sheets in warmth . I stretched as he gently turned me over, feather light kisses on my belly, now slightly curved . He pressed his ears to the taut skin, listening.

“What is that, pup? Oh
yes.. yes yes
 You’re right . Absolutely right.” He pulled away and climbed top of me, gently parting my thighs before slotiing himself in between. I sighed as he pressed against me, gently pushing in till he was buried to the hilt inside me.

“God, that feels good
” I whispered and Jungkook hummed, pressing a kiss to my ear before biting the lobe between his teeth.

“Know what our pup just told me , wife? “ He whispered and I looked at him, curious.

“What?”

“Well, he told me that I should remind you that you were so sure you would never fall in love with me.”

I shrugged.

“I’m sure you were once, pretty sure that you would never get washed over the waterfall.”

Jungkook laughed.

“TouchĂ©. So we both admit we’re wrong ?”

“The perfect marriage.”

Jungkook kissed me nose before beginning to move gently inside me again and I closed my eyes in bliss.

Someone to hold during cold winter nights.

Someone to kiss in the rain.

Someone to love in the springtime sun

Someone like Jeon Jungkook, the perfect alpha.

AUTHOR'S NOTE : I LOVE ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU FOR 8K.

“So pretty!” You were currently smiling at your toddlers as they were finishing up their finger painting for the day.

You held painting classes on Saturdays in your little studio for toddlers. You began offering these classes in attempts to help out busy parents, that way they could get some errands done; in a sense, it was like a ‘daycare’ program. You didn’t think that it would be as great of a turn out as it was, but thankfully, many parents have taken up the opportunity. You had around 10 kids per session, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but because they all vary in age (3-8) it gets a little rowdy from time to time.

Luckily for you, many of the kids are behaved and well-mannered, of course, you still have the mischievous children, but they never bothered you or done something to upset you. You love kids, so this was really a great addition in your line of work. As an artist, who is well-known for many beautiful paintings at your local art museum, your modestly high income allows you to broaden the creativity in the community. It also gives opportunities for children and their parents to find potential opportunities in the art industry.

“Y/n, they’re doing so well!” Mi-ha whispered to you, while observing the quiet toddlers smiling to themselves while they continued painting.

Mi-ha is one of your best friends, who also happens to work with you during your painting lessons. You and Mi-ha have been best friends ever since college when you both continued your degrees; her in fine arts and yours in sciences. For a number of years, you were in the operating room as an anesthesiologist assistant, surprising, right? Not a lot of people knew you were in the medical field before you quit altogether—well sort of
 you still volunteered on your days off at your local hospitals—to pursue your art career, it really is unbelievable and a great accomplishment at just 22. You were always a smart child, graduating high school and university earlier than most. Your parents couldn’t have been prouder, even when you told them that you wanted to pursue your art career, they supported you through and through. You were thankful that they were so supportive of your decision.

“Yoon-ji is enjoying herself, I’m glad!” You gushed while pointing to Mi-ha’s daughter who was happily painting random lines on her canvas. Mi-ha had Yoon-ji three years ago, with her long-time boyfriend, now husband, Namjoon. It was a surprise for everyone, nonetheless, the couple was excited for the arrival of their first child together. You remember how freaked out Mi-ha was when she had the positive pregnancy test in her hands. She was nervous about telling Joon, but eventually you had given her enough courage to tell him, after all, it’s his kid too. From your understanding, Namjoon’s friends all had children, at least from what Mi-ha said, maybe a couple of them didn’t, but you weren’t completely sure. You, however, hadn’t any of them, even though you’re closest to Mi-ha, Joon, and Yoon-ji, you never really had the pleasure of hanging out with Joon’s friends.

“Okay kiddies, time to clean up! Your parents will be coming soon!” You exclaimed to the kids while hearing groans. Giggling to yourselves, you and Mi-ha helped wash up the kids. It didn’t take long to put away the paints, easels, and canvases, since they were much smaller than your normal sized ones that you keep in the back room, for your purposes. You had gathered up the mini stools and stacked them in the closest where your other mini supplies were. Shutting it, you turned around to see all the little boys and girls smiling brightly up at you.

“Thank you, Ms. Y/n!” They bowed, respectively. Bowing too, you smiled at all of them.

“You’re very welcome! Now let me just get your parents!” Walking over to the closed door, you welcomed the parents of the children. Each child held up their artwork towards their parents while they left with mumbled thank you’s and see you next week’s. As the last child left your studio, Namjoon walked in giving you a wave.

“Appa!” Yoon-ji ran towards her dad, who welcomed her with opened arms. Picking her up and spinning her around, Mi-ha giggled beside you at her little family.

“Hey, Yoonie, what’chya got there, hm?” Yoon-ji thrusted her artwork towards him, almost getting his blonde-dyed hair wet with drying paint, had he not tilted his head fast enough, “Wow, princess! So pretty!” He walked over to Mi-ha, pressing a kiss to her temple before turning to you.

“Yoon-ji’s birthday is coming up,” Namjoon says giving his daughter to his wife.

“I know,” You nodded smiling, “Next, next Saturday, right?”

“Yeahp, all of my friends will be there too! So, you finally get to meet the other half of the family.” He jokes with you.

“Ugh, I can’t wait,” You huffed out, “it’s like you two didn’t want me to ever meet them.”

“No!” Mi-ha exclaimed, “it’s just that every time we had something planned with them, you always had an art show!” Joon laughed as Yoon-ji blew raspberries at him with a gleeful gaze.

“Oh, actually?” You wiped your hand on your apron, untying it and hanging it up on the hooks behind you, “Well, thankfully I don’t have an art show for a while, so I’m free!” You checked your watch, “Oh, shoot, sorry guys, I have to run!” You exclaimed grabbing your keys, “I need to let Mochi out.”

“Go ahead, we’ll lock up!” Mi-ha says, “See you next, next Saturday Y/n!”

“Don’t forget to bring whatever snacks you want!”

“Bwye, Awnty Y/n!” You waved to the three and exited the studio.

“Good girl, Mochi!” You exclaimed jogging with your baby Pomeranian-Husky mix who was running beside you with her tiny legs. Giggling to yourself you picked her up walking her to the park that was by your apartment. Giving her treats as the two of you sat down on the grass, you looked around you to see the park with couples walking their dogs together, people running, or elderly sitting on the benches feeding the birds. You smiled down at the puppy who was gently gnawing at her treat, but her eyes started to droop, leaving her treat half in her mouth and half on the grass as she closed her eyes. You pat her head gently, only to stop when you heard a little yelp from behind you. Peering around you see a little Pomeranian and a little girl with pigtails bobbing behind it.

“Oh, hello there!” You smiled down at the dog, patting its head you noticed the dog staring at the treat in your hand, nudging its head towards it. You comply, as it ate the treat from your hand.

“Yeontan!” The little girl gasped, crouching down to the puppy, who yelped at her. Sighing she sat down with him, but looked up at you with a shy gaze, “Sowwy
”

You cooed at how cute she was, “Oh, don’t be! I have plenty of treats! Mochi is sleeping, she won’t mind!” Handing the little girl more treats for her dog.

“Tank you!” She placed another treat in Yeontan’s mouth, she looked behind her and sighed, “Tannie, Daddy go get mad at us fow wunning off again
” Her shoulders slumped as she placed the dog in her lap.

“Kim Aera!” A man came from behind the trees jogging towards the little girl.

“See, Tannie
 He mad mad.” She sighed again, petting the dog.

As the man jogged closer you noticed that he was in baggy pants paired with a beige vest and a white t-shirt. He sported white shoes and many bracelets decorated his wrists. Puffing out air, he crouched down beside the little girl.

“Didn’t I tell you not to run off with Tannie like that?” He sighed, picking up the dog, “and you,” he looked down at the confused looking puppy, “you know better than to run away from your sister like that.” He scolded.

“Sowwy, daddy,” The little girl says making sad eyes at her father, “but! Pwetty yady keep com-com-com... pony!” You watched as the man paused and turned around to look at you. His eyes were a beautiful hazel, probably contacts, and his hair was fluffy. He was really attractive and seemed really young to be a father to a girl who couldn’t be any older than four years old.

“I see
” His eyes gazed into your own, gulping, he gave you a nervous smile, “I’m really sorry about Aera, she and Tannie have a habit of running off.” You laughed dusting off dirt as you stood to your full height. Your eyes widened when you notice that you were still peering up at the man.

Shoot, dude’s gotta be at least 6 feet.

Blushing you coughed, “It’s not a problem, really!” You smiled at him.

You see the child tug on her dad’s pants, he bent down and she whispered to him. His eyes bulging out of his sockets as he put Tannie down and dusted himself off.

“Sh—” He sighed, “I didn’t even introduce us,” He patted the little girl’s head, “This is my daughter Aera,” Aera smiled at you and gave you a wave, “This is Yeontan,” he pointed to the dog that was now laying beside Mochi, who stared with curious eyes at her companion laying beside her.

“And I’m Kim Taehyung.”

Drawing your attention to the model-like man, you smiled shyly, feeling heat rushing to your cheeks as he gave you a boxy grin.

“I’m Hyeon Y/n.” You peered behind you to the puppy that was nuzzling her face into Yeontan’s fur, “and that’s my puppy, Mochi.”

Aera squealed and bent down towards the two puppies, Mochi greeting her with many kisses. Taehyung smiled down at his daughter and looked back at you.

“It’s really nice to meet you, Y/n.” His deep voice rang in your ears again, “Thank you again for accompanying Aera while I looked for them.” You waved a hand.

“Really, Taehyung, it’s no worries, I love kids and puppies!” Gesturing to the three on the ground. Taehyung chuckled before looking back at you.

“We should get going, I’m sure you have things to do. Aera, Tannie.” Taehyung says as Aera patted Mochi’s head one last time before scooping up the Pomeranian and smiling at you.

“Tank you fow da tweats and watch me!” Aera says sweetly before pressing her cheeks against your legs and staring at you, “see you again?” Shocked you peered down at the little girl.

“Aera!” Taehyung exclaims, his cheeks tinted pink as he looked down at you, “I’m sorry—she—”

“Of course!” You smiled, crouching down to the little girl, “I actually hold painting classes at my studio, completely free every Saturday at 9!” You watched the little girl’s face brighten as she looked at her dad. Stunned with yourself you looked up at her dad too before uttering out, “only if it’s cool with your dad.”

“Daddy? Pwease, pwease, pwease! Paint, I paint!” Aera jumped excitedly as she asked for her father’s permission.

“I—” He starts looking down at his daughter’s bright eyes filled with excitement, “I—sure, why not?” He smiled down at his little girl. Aera rushed up to him and gave him a big squeeze, excitedly repeating tank you’s.

“Yay!” You perk up looking at the two, “I’ll see you two
on Saturday?”

“Yes! Next Saturday, though. We have prior arrangements, but next one for sure.” Taehyung says. You smiled.

“Next Saturday then.” You agreed.

“Great, uhm—” Taehyung begins, taking out his phone, “Do you mind if—Can I—May I have your number uhm so I know where your studio is?” He blushed facing his phone to you. You nodded frantically.

“Right! Uh—” You typed in your number giving his phone back to him, “Here you go!”

“Thanks,” He sighs, “for everything, we’ll see you not this week, but next!” You nodded your head.

“Of course! See you guys, it was nice to meet you three!”

“Likewise!” Taehyung said sending you a boxy grin, Aera having the same smile as her dad, the three walked off, while you picked up Mochi and headed to your apartment.

“Who are you smiling at?” Mi-ha’s voice scares you, causing you to tuck your phone away.

“Wha—me?” You blushed looking at your best friend who was carrying a sleepy Yoon-ji, “Just some guy I met at the park today.”

“A guy?!” Mi-ha screeched in a whisper. You nodded.

“Yeah, his daughter was chasing their dog and the dog stumbled upon me and Mochi.” You shrugged, “and before you ask,” Mi-ha’s mouth opened and closed, “yes, he’s unbelievably attractive.” You whine throwing your head back against your couch.

Mi-ha wiggled her eyebrows while heading for the door, “Ouuuu, does he have potential?” Shrugging your shoulders

“Well—I just met him
” You sighed, “but
 maybe? I don’t know.” You mumbled.

Taehyung is an attractive man, and just from meeting him and Aera today, you could already tell that the two were super sweet and super nice.

“Hm
 Well, just play it by ear, I guess.” You watched as Mi-ha slipped into her shoes, still carrying a sleeping Yoon-ji, “You deserve to be happy, by the way. I just want you to be happy and in love.” You giggled.

“Yah,” You made your way to the door, “I’ll find it when I find it.” Smiling you gave Mi-ha a side hug as she made her way out of your apartment and down the hall towards her and Namjoon’s.

Colours (1) - Kth

It was now Wednesday and you were in your studio with Mochi.

After a long week, you were excited to finally see Aera and Taehyung this coming Saturday. You and Taehyung have been texting back and forth during the week, getting to know each other a little more, and of course exchanging work stories for the day. Sometimes he’d text you good morning and good night as well, so you’d often times find yourself smiling constantly whenever you see his name pop up onto your screen. He was—is—such a good guy. The sweetest human you had ever met, and Aera was no different than her father. Some days, Taehyung would send you a picture of Aera, because she wanted to show you her new painting. You couldn’t help but feel all fuzzy and warm when you would receive a text from him. Sometimes he’d even tell you all about the important meetings he’d have and his success with collaborating with other big time fashion icons with upcoming collections for his new menswear line.

Today though, the museum had asked you to come up with a few pieces that could be showed in their gallery for the end of November. It wasn’t one of your art shows, so it wasn’t too demanding and you didn’t have to show face. However, you had to finish the pieces a month before the showcase. It never took you too long to finish a painting piece; you’ve always been creative and had an eye for art. This time you wanted to try something different. Many of your paintings were hung up on display in the museum, along with some of your photography pieces, so this time, you wanted to mix the two mediums in a way that’ll capture the uniqueness of your work.

You heard a quiet bark behind you to see Mochi wagging her tail looking up at you with curiosity. You bent down to pat her head and led her to her little bed in the corner of the studio. The minute she jumped into the large puppy bed; her eyes began to droop. Mochi was so tiny still, only 10 weeks old, that the large bed engulfs her tiny figure. Cooing at the adorable puppy, you went back to painting the large canvas. Humming along with the quiet radio in the background, you left some spaces open for the pictures that you need to take before pasting it onto the canvas too. You were in your own little world thinking about Yoon-ji’s party on Saturday. You had all her gifts ready, along with remembering to pick up her cookies that you had promised Mi-ha to pick up, since Namjoon had to go pick up the cake.

Taehyung then drifted into your mind. Encountering him two Saturday evenings ago, hadn’t stopped playing in your mind. He was the prettiest man you had ever met, and he sounded so humbled, soft-spoken with a very deep voice. He was enticing, and you couldn’t wait to see him again on Saturday. And Aera. Aera is probably the cutest little girl you had ever met, and that’s saying something because you worked with many kids, along with Yoon-ji –who is another very adorable child— but Aera’s features were striking. Definitely too pretty for a three-year-old. But now, with the fact that you two have been texting back and forth for about a week now, that really couldn’t be good for your heart. You’re really not the type to fall for someone quickly, you enjoy being single because it’s less complicated, but for some reason
 You were just drawn to the strikingly handsome man.

You heard a knock at the door ripping you from your thoughts. Thinking you were hearing things, you continued painting
 Until the knock came louder. Furrowing your eyebrows, you checked your watch, 10:17am, you weren’t expecting Mi-ha for another couple hours.

“Just a minute!” You called setting down your brush and wiping your hands on a rag that you retrieved from the top of your canvas. Pushing your hair out of your face, you reached the knob of the door and pulled it open to reveal the duo that clouded your thoughts just moments ago.

“Hi, Awnty Y/n!” Aera quipped brightly. Today, her hair was pulled up to one side, where she bore a purple bow. She was wearing loose jeans with a white shirt and denim jacket. Beside her stood Taehyung, handsome as ever. Today, he sported loose shorts and a black t-shirt. Super simple, but for some reason, super attractive.

“Oh my gosh, hey!” You peered down at your attire which consisted of leggings a baggy top, and your painting apron. Your cheeks heating up, “Sorry—gosh—I wasn’t expecting anyone today.” You smiled sheepishly as Taehyung quirked an eyebrow.

“No—no, it’s cool,” He gestured to Aera, “We were in the area picking up some food and we thought that we’d come say hi.” Aera thrusted a small box towards you.

“Yeah! We bwought some cookies!” Aera says, “Daddy say that pwetty giwls need deli
” Aera paused, scrunching her eyebrows, “delis-eowus cookies,” She confidently smiles, “so Daddy call da-da cookie stow and buy his favowite cookies fow you! He no let me have any and say that he buy some fow me next time, because he want to buy just fow humph—” Taehyung gently cupped his hand over his daughter’s lips, chuckling nervously to himself.

“Hahahaha, oh Aera, you’re so funny!” Taehyung coughed out, his cheeks turning slightly pink, “Kids
” He trails off giving you a boyish grin. Releasing his hand from his daughter’s mouth, Aera seemed to have forgotten what she was talking about as she squealed seeing Mochi. Bouncing her way towards the sleeping puppy, you turned your attention back to Taehyung.

“That’s really sweet of you guys! You didn’t have to buy me anything, a simple ‘hello’ would have sufficed, or even a text to let me know you were both coming today.” You nudged his arm, spinning around, you gestured him to follow you as you placed the gifted cookies in the small kitchen of your studio.

Taehyung shrugged, “We figured you’d be too busy for a text, so we kinda dropped by as a surprise
” Smiling you opened the box of cookies, taking three out and putting them on a plate that you keep in the cupboards. “She hasn’t stopped talking about you since last Saturday.” He confessed.

Smiling up at the handsome man, you place the cookies in front of the two of you, “That’s so cute!” You gushed, pushing the plate towards him; he happily accepts a cookie, taking a bite. Walking over to Aera and Mochi, you handed her the small plate with the cookie on it. Luckily Mochi didn’t notice that there was food on the plate and Aera quickly took the sweet treat and popped half of it in her mouth.

“Were we interrupting? We could—”

“Oh! No—” You started, seeing worry flash through Taehyung’s eyes, “No—don’t worry about it! I’m almost done anyways.” Taehyung visibly sighed a breath of relief as he peered around your studio.

“Your paintings are really good.” He observed staring at your almost finished canvas and your other completed works that were hung up around the room.

“Thanks, they really don’t take much time for me, I guess I’m one of the lucky few that were able to get somewhere with their hobby.” You shrugged staring at Taehyung.

“You really are talented,” He turns around to face you, “What else do you do? I know you said this is basically your job
 But you seem like the type to have a lot of things going on?” You laughed.

Funny that you both have been getting to know each other during the week, but you had never asked what he did. Your conversations would always end up with work stories, but you both never really spoke about what you both truly do.

“You’re a gifted observer,” You teased, “Other than holding a bunch of different art classes, I work part-time at the hospital.” Taehyung’s eyebrows raised.

“What do you do in the hospital?”

“Anesthesiologist Assistant.” You smiled; Taehyung’s eyes grew wider before showcasing an impressive grin.

“Huh,” He smirked, “You’re quite the character huh, but don’t take this the wrong way,” He trailed, “but aren’t you quite young?” You giggled to yourself.

“I get that a lot,” You start before washing the paint brushes that were on your counter, “I actually graduated high school and university fairly early. I was turning 16 when I finished high school, took my MCAT at 18, got my undergrad at 20, and settled for an assistant rather than an actual MD, but still had to go through the same process.” You finished looking up at Taehyung. He held an impressed expression the whole time and smiled at your back story.

“That’s actually insane,” He chuckled, “You make me sound less successful than you!” You furrowed your eyebrows.

“OH—please don’t compare yourself to me! It really is nothing.” You blushed, now drying your paintbrushes.

“Intelligent, talented, beautiful, and humble?” Taehyung questioned, “You really are a man’s dream, Y/n.”

You blushed profusely, “Oh please, look at yourself Mr. Kim.” You teased, “What is it that you do by the way? Seems only fair that you tell me about yourself since I just told you my life’s story!”

Taehyung’s laughter boomed throughout your studio, “I’m actually the CEO of Gucci Korea.” It was your turn to gasp.

“Gucci—” You choked, “CEO
? Korea?!” You stuttered, feeling intimidated.

Taehyung chuckled, “Yes, CEO of Gucci Korea.”

“But? You’re so young!” You sputtered out.

“Ah, Ms. Y/n, you can’t possibly think that you were the only child prodigy, did you?” He teased, but before you could voice out an apology, he continued, “Much like you, I graduated at a young age as well!”

You were in awe, man’s was smart, handsome, and freaking humble?? Where has he been all your life.

“I’m 25 by the way.” He winked before going over to get Aera who seemed to have fallen asleep next to Mochi. Smiling at the two, you watched as he lifted her into his arms and walked back towards you.

“I’m really sorry to cut this short—I’m needed back at the office—but hopefully we’ll have more time to get to know each other more, in person at least?” He asked with a hopeful smile. Nodding your head, embarrassingly fast, you led them to the door.

“Yes—I mean, yeah—sure! I’d love that.” You sputtered, “Thank you for dropping by
 and for these amazing cookies.” You gestured behind you to the opened cookie box on your kitchen island.

“Of course, it was our pleasure.” Taehyung winked, causing you to blush again, “We’ll see you on Saturday? For the painting lessons?”

You nodded, “Of course, see you then, Taehyung!” You watched as the man headed out of your studio and you shut the door. Catching your breath, you couldn’t help but smile. Was he flirting with you? Or was he just being nice?

Colours (1) - Kth

“Mi-ha!” You called while greeting the parents, yet again, this beautiful Saturday. Smiling and waving, you held small chat with some of the parents as their kids ran past you and to Mi-ha.

“Don’t worry, I got them!”

You sighed in relief, a smile returning to your face as you continued to greet the parents. As you watched each child enter, along with their parents, you failed to see the familiar tall man that had captured your attention with the few interactions you had with him and his adorable little girl. You couldn’t help but briefly look around the parents in front of you as you greeted them, in hopes to find the boxy grin that had been haunting your mind as of late, only to be disappointed with the bright blue sky outside the door. Sighing, you watched the last parent leave, walking them out the door, you peered around one last time in hopes to find the little girl and her father. To your dismay, your eyes were greeted with an empty street and nothing but cool air kissing your face. Frowning, you headed back inside your studio; Mi-ha already starting the class for you while the kids waited. You sat down on your bench, watching Mi-ha take over the class for today, since you two alternated each Saturday.

You couldn’t help but feel disappointed, you had just seen them a few days ago, but when Taehyung had said he’d be seeing you Saturday—and he did state Aera has been talking about you nonstop—you had hoped they’d be the very first people to be at your studio door
 Yet you haven’t seen them; no boxy smiles and no text messages either, you’d think that Taehyung would have texted you to let you know that they were going to be late or maybe that Aera—or himself—have changed their minds in coming; you were hoping to have at least a head’s up so that you didn’t get your hopes up.

Why were you even concerned? Dang it, Y/n, you encounter the family and received cookies from them once, and you’re hung up on seeing both of them. Maybe they were just too polite to decline your offer, after all, Taehyung is a busy man; He’s running Korea’s biggest fashion line and he’s a father. Maybe he’s still with Aera’s mother, but you never recalled seeing a ring, or him speaking of her
 But maybe that was it, had you overstepped a line with flirting? But he was flirting too? Wasn’t he?

The frown etched onto your face deepened, while you thought about all the possibilities as to why you hadn’t heard from Taehyung today. Biting your lip, you got off your chair and headed over to the little girls and boys that were happily painting away on their canvas’. Faking a smile, you crouched down to each individual and complimented their art works, earning massive grins from the children. Your heart still tightening as you gazed at the door from time to time, in hopes you’d hear a knock, but it never came.

“Y/n?” You heard Mi-ha’s voice. You peered up at her with a small smile, brushing off your pants, you stood up beside her.

“What’s up?”

“I think the parents are here, Yoon-ji and I can clean up here, you okay to get her cookies?” You looked at the clock—Oh wow, has it really been 2 hours?—you nodded shaking your head. Time really flew today.

“Yeah, sure! I’ll bring them over! I’ll see you guys at your apartment!” Shrugging off your apron, you smiled at the kids, waving goodbyes to hear little voices of “bye Ms. Y/n!” as you opened the door to let parents in. Peering down at your phone you see unopened messages from non-other than the man you had hoped to see today. Reluctantly you opened it.

11:10am 09.04.21 Taehyungâ˜ș: I’m so sorry, Y/n, Aera really wanted to attend today, but I had forgotten that Aera and I had breakfast with her mother today at the same time ):

11:11am 09.04.21 Taehyungâ˜ș: I was going to text you earlier, but we were in a rush and I completely forgot to tell you.

11:11am 09.04.21 Taehyungâ˜ș: I’m really sorry
 Next week??

11:13am 09.04.21 Taehyungâ˜ș: You’re probably still with the kids
 Text me when you get these? Aera and I would really love to make it up to you.

Frowning at the texts, you opt to locking your phone and sliding it back into your pocket.

You knew that there was a possibility that Taehyung was probably married; he has a kid. You probably shouldn’t have gotten your hopes up with him, seeing as you had literally just met that guy—despite you texting. But anyone with eyes could fall easily for a successful and humbled CEO such as himself. You were scolding yourself for falling for his boxy smile and his kindness so quickly, that you felt as if you were a teenager falling in love.

Walking towards the cookie place that Mi-ha had ordered Yoon-ji’s birthday treats, you were gazing at all the couples that were roaming the streets. Letting out a sad sigh, you continued your way. Your heart still feeling the aches of being let down by the guy that you potentially began liking
 Maybe liking, you weren’t exactly sure what it was, but you knew that this man was on your mind. Constantly.

The sign of the dessert place is now in your line of vision, so you picked up your pace in hopes to forget the numbness you were feeling in your heart. Goodness, this wasn’t even a date, it’s not like you were stood up.

Upon entering the little store, the workers smiled and waved as you accepted the order for your best friend. Walking out, you couldn’t help but deflate. As if this man is consuming your thoughts the way he has. You’ve met over a week ago, and yet he’s running through your mind like clockwork. Not just him, but sweet Aera
 You couldn’t help but fall in love with the sweet little girl; the cutest, most polite 3-year-old you had ever met, besides Yoon-ji, but nonetheless, you enjoyed the little girls presence just as much as you enjoyed her father’s.

Shaking your head from your thoughts, you headed towards your apartment. Times like these is when you’re grateful that your best friend and Namjoon have decided to stay in their apartment complex down the hall from yours. Of course, eventually the family of three will move out, but as of right now, it was nice to have them so close to you
 Especially seeing as you’re still a bachelorette.

As you walked towards Mi-ha’s apartment complex, you could hear many people talking and socializing, unsure of who is all invited, your heartrate picked up slightly at the thought of finally meeting Joon’s friends. It has been a long time coming, but it still made you nervous to meet new people. Would they like you? Will they hate you? What if you don’t like them? Your thoughts disappeared as you come face to face with Mi-ha’s apartment door. Apparently, your hand had a mind of its own, your own fist knocking on the door loudly.

Expecting Mi-ha or Joon, you were surprised to be greeted with a man with blue hair with a bunny smile.

“You must be Mi-ha noona’s friend, Y/n!!!” The man states, gesturing you to enter. You bowed with a small smile tugging at your lips to see a group of men and women around your age—maybe slightly older—gathered around Mi-ha’s kitchen.

“Hey, Y/n!” Mi-ha waved you over, standing next to her were 3 other women who looked at you with warm smiles. As you approached, Mi-ha gestured to the women, “Y/n, please meet mine and Joon’s friends! Everyone,” Mi-ha turned towards the men on the couch, “please come introduce yourselves to my best friend from college!”

Feeling heat coming up to engulf your cheeks, you smiled shyly at everyone. As you stood next to Mi-ha, the men from the couches stood next to what you assumed to be their wives or girlfriends.

“You’re Y/n?!” The girl with a long bob squeals, “Mi-ha talks about you so much! I’m so excited to finally meet you! My name is Rae and this is my husband Hoseok,” The couple pulled you into a tight hug, before turning around and gesturing to a little boy who was sitting next to Yoon-ji on the floor in front of the tv, “and that little boy by Yoonie is our son, Mujin!”

“It’s very nice to meet you, Rae and Hoseok!” You smiled at the two.

“Hobi!” Hoseok chuckled, “Please, call me Hobi. Hoseok is way too formal for me!” He finishes wrapping his arm around Rae. Nodding in agreement you smiled.

“It’s so great to finally meet you, Y/n!” A girl with long, blonde-dyed hair smiled at you, “My name is Sarang, and this is my husband Jin!” Gesturing to the blonde-haired man next to her, “We’re the elders of the group, only by a smidge!” She winked, earning a laugh from her husband. Clinging onto Sarang was a little girl and clinging to Jin was a little boy.

“These two are Ji-hoon and Yuna, our 4-year-old twins!” Jin exclaims, picking up the boy.

“Very nice to meet you guys!” You smiled, “Hello Ji-hoon and Yuna!” You waved at the two children who greeted you with claps of their hands and little hello’s.

“Hi, noona, I’m Jungkook!” The blue-haired man smiled at you, “This is my girlfriend Haru, and this is our son, Youngji.” The beautiful girl beside him with dark brown hair, that reached just below her ribcage, was holding a little boy no older than 2 years old.

“Super excited to finally meet you! You’re stunning!” Haru gushes while bouncing the sleeping boy in her arms.

“It’s nice to meet you three! You have a beautiful family!” You say to the couple with a grin, “but you don’t need to call me Noona, Jungkook
 You’re older than me!”

Jungkook’s eyes widened, “Huh?”

Nodding, “Yeah, I’m only 22! I think I remember Mi-ha telling me that all of Joon’s friends and their wives/girlfriends range from 23-28!” You quipped with a small smile. Jungkook fist bumped the air and shrieked “I’m finally not the youngest!”, causing everyone to laugh.

Lastly you were engulfed in a hug by two women that had two men trailing behind them.

“Hello Y/n! My name is Seung and this is my husband Yoongi!” The man with a gummy smile waved as he hugged his wife’s waist, “our daughter Nari is here somewhere
” She trails looking around the apartment, “uhm
 you’ll meet her later!” Chuckling you smiled.

“Hi!” A girl with straight pink hair waves, while the blonde man behind her gave you a shy smile, “I’m Hyuna, and this is Jimin!” Peering around her, she scrunched her eyebrows together, “I think we lost ours, Chim
” She whispered to the man beside her who frantically looked around the room. Sighing he gestures to the little girl cuddled up against a pillow on the couch.

“She’s so tiny, I can’t see her sometimes,” Jimin chuckled, “our daughter Soomi is 1, so she
 kinda likes to just sleep a lot right now.” He chuckles quietly.

“It’s very nice to meet you all!” You smiled at everyone, “Your kids are adorable!”

“Aish,” Namjoon circles around the table to stand behind Mi-ha, “We’re missing one more little family
 They should be here—”

“Sorry, we’re late!” A familiar voice echoes throughout the complex, which made you freeze in your spot. Quietly turning around, you face the man that’s been consuming your thoughts every waking hour. He was breathing heavily with his arms wrapped around his daughter who was cradled into her father’s neck, slumped over in his arms. His hair slicked back, unlike the mess of curls they were a few days ago. His eyes locked on yours with his mouth slightly agape.

“Here he is!” Joon cheered, clasping his hand around the man’s shoulder, “Y/n, this is Taehyung and Aera!”

To say you were surprised was an understatement. What were the odds that the man that was clouding your every waking thought, would stand before you AND is best friends with your best friend’s husband? That was just too weird

The fact that your eyes were blown out of your head, along with Taehyung look like a deer in headlights, Aera was the one to break your staring war with Taehyung, when she sleepily turned around in her father’s arms but her eyes immediately widening as soon as she spots you.

“Awnty Y/n!” Aera struggles against Taehyung’s hold, dropping down from his arms and running towards you and clasped her little arms around your leg. Gazing down at the little girl, a small smile etched its way onto your face, bending down to engulf her in your arms.

“Hey, cutie!” She giggled as your hair brushed against her face, “Missed your face today!” You whispered into her ear, trying hard to cover up the sound of disappointment. The little girl pouted and stared at you.

“I’m sowwy, Daddy fowgot that we go out wit Mommy fow bweakfas,” Aera states sadly, “Daddy say he text you.”

You nodded, “Yeah, he did. I’ve—” you paused as you noticed from the corner of your eyes that Taehyung perked up, probably wondering why you hadn’t texted back if you got his messages, “I was super busy today.” You finished.

“Okay wait—” Mi-ha interrupted as you stood up from hugging Aera, “Y/n, you’ve met Taehyung and Aera?”

Nodding sheepishly, Mi-ha put two and two together and her eyes widened.

“Y/n and I met in the park a few weeks back.” You heard Taehyung say. The rest of the group giggled and chuckled.

“What a small world.” Namjoon laughed. Feeling awkward—along with feeling Taehyung’s eyes on you the entire time—you decided to gesture to Yoon-ji.

“Well—it’s someone’s birthday!” You turned away and picked up Yoon-ji from the living room, “Let’s blow out some candles and eat some cake!”

══════ ∘◩❀◩∘ ══════

“It was actually really funny,” Hyuna giggled, “Chim and I weren’t friends at all! He was that cool jock guy in college, and I was just admiring him from afar. He was also so mean too!” You giggled along with the girls, as Hyuna continued her story about how her and Jimin ended up together.

“—low and behold, we went to the same frat party, hooked up, and I guess Jimin couldn’t help but keep talking to me so
 Here we are!”

“That’s actually really cute,” You sighed, looking at Mi-ha, who was eying you wearily. Since she is your best friend, she could tell that your demeanor had changed ever since a handsome dad walked into their apartment.

If it was obvious to anyone, it was especially obvious to Mi-ha, that something was bothering you. You had become a little quieter ever since the father and daughter—that you were hoping to see that same day in your art studio—had joined the party. You were sneaking glances at Aera’s dad while he was manspreading on the couch chit chatting with his best buds. You shouldn’t be feeling this way, you couldn’t like Taehyung in that way. Not only was he a father with an adorable little girl that you very much enjoy being around, but it was clear that the mother is, in fact, still in the picture—despite the fact that he doesn’t wear a wedding band on his ring finger. You know you shouldn’t have gotten your hopes up that you possibly found someone that you were so into. You couldn’t possibly like him after the few encounters you’ve had. You’re being ridiculous. What were you? A girl in high school?

“Y/n?”

Snapping out of your trance, you stared at Mi-ha, who was staring at you with worry, “Are you alright?”

Were you?

The man that ultimately had you pining over him was in the same room as you, the same man that had promised to see you today after dropping off cookies at your art studio the week before because he was in the area. How could you be fine? Maybe he was just being nice, you thought. He never gave you a reason to think he was even single. Sure, it seemed like he was flirting—and sure he bought you cookies
 But again, he never gave you a reason to think he was remotely interested in you, he was just being nice.

“Never better.” You forced a smile. Mi-ha looked skeptical; she knew you weren’t okay.

“We can talk
” Mi-ha offers, giving you a sympathetic look. You shrugged, you could feel a certain individual’s eyes on you, but you refused to look his way. You weren’t mad per say, but you weren’t exactly feeling the greatest. You didn’t know how you were supposed to act now. How were you expected to react when you literally just found out that the guy you were constantly thinking about was best friends with your friend! Alright, that’s enough. You wanted to hurl, you wanted to scream, just disappear. You were still unsure why you were so hurt by not seeing him today, maybe it was still the fact that he could’ve texted you sooner, or maybe he should’ve stopped giving you mixed signals
 Who just casually buys you their favorite cookies and delivers it to you just because he was in the area???

Having enough of feeling like complete ass. You turned to Mi-ha, “I think I’m gonna head out early, I’m not really feeling well.” You gave a small smile to Mi-ha.

“Are you sure? I can drop—”

“No, it’s okay!” You rushed out, “I’ll see you Monday! Thanks for the invite.”

Giving Mi-ha a tight-lipped smile, you turned to the rest of the group, “I’m going to head out now!” A chorus of boos and no’s erupted from the group, Taehyung keeping his eyes trained to the floor, not uttering a word. To say you were even more disappointed was an understatement. You didn’t quite know what you were expecting from him, but you sure as hell wasn’t expecting him to remain quiet or to completely ignore you the whole time. Your heart clenched, yet again, but you shoved the feeling away as the rest of the girls gave you group hugs.

“Please!!! Let’s all hang out! This was so much fun!” Haru exclaims jumping up and down.

“Oh my gosh, yes, yes!!!” Seung exclaims, “Oh, do you mind giving us your number?” Thrusting her phone in your face you giggled, typing in your number, and giving it back.

“It was really great to meet you, Y/n!” Rae smiles warmly, while Hyuna and Sarang nod in agreement, “We hope to see you soon!” The rest of the boys waved at your departure, while Taehyung remained silent, but now was shuffling around the kitchen, pretending as if you were already gone.

Ouch.

Saying your final goodbyes, you attempted to make it out of the door quickly, trying to leave before you could feel the ache in your chest grow heavier with every movement towards the door. Trying to keep your breathing as normal as possible, you felt a little fingers wrap around your pants, gently tugging at you. Squeezing your eyes shut to try and rid yourself from the unnecessary tears that were willing to fall, you peered down to see Aera shyly smiling up at you.

“Bye awnty, Y/n,” As if your heart couldn’t hurt more. “I see you swoon?” Her big eyes that shimmered with hope stared right back at you.

Please, stab my heart some more, Aera, you thought.

Unsure of what to say, you ruffled her hair, “Sure, sweets. Soon.” And with that Aera lets go of your pants running back towards Yoon-ji to continue playing.

Without another glance, you exited the apartment with a shaky breath, and making your way to your own apartment down the hall. Flashes of Taehyung’s face appeared in your mind as you walked towards the end of the hall and to your apartment complex; the way he had smiled at you at the park when you had first met, the way he looked so interested when you were exchanging information in your studio, the cute text messages he would send throughout the day
 All of that was now clouded by the way he looked at you with surprise when he had first entered the apartment, the way he wouldn’t meet your eyes from across the room, the way he had his muscular back faced towards you—as if he was deliberately trying to find every excuse not to look at you. You didn’t think that letting down bits of your wall and opening up to someone that had made you happy would’ve backfired on you. Especially when he had been so inviting, so sweet, and so interested
 but maybe he truly wasn’t into you that way.

Upon finally stumbling into your apartment, you shut the door quietly. Sliding down the smooth, cold surface of the wooden barricade that divided you from the comfort of your own home to the hallway, the tears flowed down your cheeks; your hands finding a way onto your face as your sobs filled the quiet space of your home, and pieces of your heart breaking for the man that sat with his daughter just down the hall.

Colours (1) - Kth

Waking up the next morning was dreadful. Absolutely awful.

Your eyes were sealed shut due to the mass amount of crying you had done the night before. You were being pathetic, you knew that. You have no reason to be hung up on this guy when you have a whole life ahead of you. Well
 a whole life, you’re only 22. But seeing that you had met all of Mi-ha’s and Namjoon’s friends, you felt as if you were behind. They were only a few years older than you, and they all seemed to have stable jobs—which you have—their own forever homes, and a little family.

Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you really didn’t feel like going to your studio today, luckily for you though, you had your own little makeshift studio in your apartment. It wasn’t as large, obviously, as your actual studio, but it does the job when you feel like staying at home to get some work done. Sometimes, you find that you get more work done at home than you do in your studio.

You here Mochi padding her way through the hallway and towards your bedroom. Watching as your bedroom door creaked open, you were greeted by the little puppy at the foot of the door, curiously examining around the room to find your eyes. As if the stars in her blue eyes weren’t bright enough, the moment she saw you, you could’ve sworn you saw the galaxy in them. Mochi trotted her way towards the little stairs by your bed, struggling to get up them, she growled in annoyance and plopped down by your side. Your little pup gazes at you with a questioning look, almost as if you ask if you were okay. You had been told before that most animals feel the emotions radiating off their owners, but you hadn’t really believed in that. Until now.

Mochi’s eyes drooped, almost forming a sad expression and nudged her little head against your hand with a tiny whine. If you had thought that you were all cried out from last nights fiasco, you were terribly wrong. As soon as Mochi crawled her way onto your lap to snuggle closer, the tears began to from and roll down your face. Choking out tiny sobs, Mochi continued to snuggle closer in attempts to comfort you.

You honestly couldn’t remember the last time you had cried this hard—let alone over a man. Maybe you were just so used to having such high expectations that the other men that you had dated, or had gone out with, just never had this type of affect on you. You were always used to being let down, anyways. So, what really made Taehyung any different? Why had you gotten your hopes up? Was it his constant texts that had you unknowingly falling for him? Was it Aera who seemed to have idolized you? Was it the kind gesture of buying you cookies that had made you think about a potential future with him? A future where, in a perfect world, Taehyung was your husband and Aera as your step-daughter coming to visit you during your workdays with the same batch of cookies that they had delivered to you on that Wednesday?

But that’s all it is, right? Just wishful thinking, hoping, that the guy that had made you fall in love with his charms, his devilishly handsome good looks, and his kind heart—hoping that he was the one for you, hoping that he was the one to love you unconditionally. But that’s all it was.

Wishful thinking.

“—so, are you going to tell me what’s going on or
”

Mi-ha had dropped by with Yoon-ji to come check up on you. When she headed towards the studio, but didn’t see any lights on, she knew you were cooped up in your apartment complex. So, it really wasn’t a surprise when she had knocked on your door to see your eyes swollen and red with your hair up in the messiest bun she had ever seen, and a paint brush in your hands. Like the best friend she is, she gave you a sympathetic smile, but didn’t comment—at least not until now.

You had continued painting one of the art pieces that you had began working on. Getting lost in the strokes of your brush to numb the pain in your chest, sniffling here and there, yet no tears had fallen. You were finally all cried out. Nonetheless though, your eyes still stung, as if it were trying to produce some form of waterworks, but you know that you really couldn’t cry anymore. Dabbing your under-eyes and feeling the sting from how raw the skin was from all your continuous rubbing.

“There’s nothing going on.” You croaked, still facing your canvas, and ignoring the presence of your best friend that stood behind your easel with her sleeping toddler in the little bean bag chair that you have in your art room.

“Cut the bullshit,” Mi-ha snaps quietly, “Have you forgotten we’ve been best friends for so long? I know when something’s wrong, what did Taehyung do?”

Pausing your brush strokes, “How did—”

“Please,” Mi-ha comes around to lean against your easel, “anyone with eyes knew something was off between you two. What happened, Y/n?”

So, you told her.

Your first encounter with him at the park, your constant text messaging, how he had dropped by as a surprise. You told her how you were confused, how could you fall for someone so fast? You were choking on sobs again, but still no tears have fallen from your eyes.

You felt pathetic. But bless your best friend as she continued to listen to your confused self, rubbing your back and whispering encouraging words. By the end of your talk, Mi-ha gives you a soft smile.

“Oh, baby
” She says in hushed tones, “You’ve got it bad
”

As you navigate the challenges of parenthood together, a deep connection blossoms. What happens when he finds himself falling in love despite his resolve to stay single?

A/N: Inspired by that episode of ATEEZ on Ch'i'ld Cloud and that time when Seonghwa mentioned how he'd be a kindergarten teacher had he not been an idol.

ATEEZ Masterlist

One Day At A Time

"Dude, you need to get yourself a girlfriend if you love kids this much." Joy quipped with a grin.

She glanced at Seonghwa as they both stood at the kindergarten entrance. She couldn't resist the opportunity to tease him, knowing how dedicated he was to his job. She went on about her blissful relationship with her long-term boyfriend, her eyes shining with love and contentment.

Seonghwa rolled his eyes, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips, as he helped one of the kids put on their tiny shoes. His heart was full from a day spent with these precious little ones, and he wouldn't trade it for anything.

"Worry about yourself, Joy," He retorted playfully, "I have the kids here to keep me busy; I don't need to have my own."

The children, sensing it was time to go home, were excitedly rushing off into the waiting arms of their parents. Seonghwa watched them, his own heart warming as he knew he played a part in their day.

As most of the children had left, he noticed one of the students from his class still seated by the bench near the entrance. Little Eunji, her big brown eyes brimming with anticipation, watched with a pout as her friends left one by one with their parents. Concerned, he crouched down beside her, "Eunji? Are your parents not here yet?"

Just as she was about to respond, her eyes lit up with joy, and a radiant smile spread across her face.

"Eunji-yah, I'm here!"

You called out, your voice filled with warmth, and you appeared at the entrance. The child squealed in delight and darted into your arms, wrapping herself around you. You, on the other hand, looked exhausted as you huffed tiredly, "Sorry, I'm late, sweetheart. I came as fast as I could from work."

The child shook her tiny head, nuzzling even closer to you, clearly relieved to have you there. The teacher watched the touching reunion, his heart swelling with tenderness as he observed the connection between you both.

When you finally stood up properly and turned to Seonghwa to thank him for his hard work, he felt his breath momentarily knocked out of his chest by how breathtaking you looked.

"Oh, you must be Mr. Park, Eunji's class teacher," You said warmly, extending your hand to him, "Listen, thank you so much for always watching after her. I apologise for constantly being late. I promise I'll try to come earlier."

He was at a loss for words, completely captivated by your presence. He stammered, "N-no problem at all, really. It's just my job." He couldn't tear his eyes away from you, and it was only when Eunji tugged at his pants that he snapped out of his trance.

"Thank you, Teacher Hwa! Bye-bye!" The child chimed in, her adorable voice breaking his momentary stupor.

Seonghwa smiled, finally regaining his composure.

"Oh, right! No worries at all. I'm always ready to take care of all the kids. Have a safe trip home, you two!" He waved as you and Eunji walked away, hand in hand.

He continued to watch as you left, his gaze lingering on your retreating figures. There was an undeniable attraction and a curiosity he couldn't ignore.

No, Park Seonghwa, this is wrong.

He battled with his own internal conflict, constantly reminding himself that his attraction toward you was inappropriate.

After all, you were the mother of one of his students. It was his duty to ensure the well-being of the children in his class, and allowing these feelings to grow was risky.

As he observed you during each drop-off and pick-up, he couldn't help wondering about your personal life. Your exhaustion was evident, and he speculated about where your husband might be. The thought crossed his mind that perhaps you were divorced, widowed, or going through some other personal hardship.

But he knew that these were sensitive topics, and he didn't want to pry or make you uncomfortable.

He was torn between his genuine concern for your well-being and his internal struggle to contain his growing attraction. He knew he had to find a way to balance his feelings and responsibilities, and he was determined to do so in a way that was respectful and considerate of your feelings as well.

Other than that, he found himself in a moral dilemma.

He understood that, as a teacher, it was his responsibility to treat all the children equally and not play favourites. But ever since he met you, it became increasingly challenging not to pay extra attention to Eunji. He was acutely aware of how tired you were, raising her on your own, and he felt a sense of responsibility to be even more attentive to the child for your sake.

Besides, it was hard not to notice that Eunji was one of the sweetest and most well-mannered kids he's ever taught. She displayed a level of consideration and maturity far beyond her age.

He truly admired your parenting skills, as it was evident that your love and care have moulded Eunji into such a wonderful and well-behaved child. He admired the kind of mother you were to the child, and it only deepened his attraction to you.

One day during lunch while they watched over the kids, Joy playfully nudged him on the shoulder, "Is it just me, or have you been playing favourites lately? I see you've grown a liking to little Eunji. I mean, I can't blame you; she's literally a sweetheart. But dude, I thought you were more professional than that."

Seonghwa froze in his tracks, realising that he hadn't been as subtle as he thought.

Joy's comment hit close to home, making him acutely aware of the unspoken truth. He had grown closer to Eunji, and it was impossible to deny that it was because of the connection he felt with you, the child's dedicated and loving guardian.

He contemplated whether he should talk to his closest colleague about the undeniable attraction he felt for you. He was torn between wanting to confide in someone and the fear of making things even more complicated. The feeling was eating him up inside, and he knew he needed to address it somehow.

Joy noticed the genuine conflict in his expression, which was far deeper than she initially expected. Concerned, she straightened up, "Dude, I was just playing with you, man. You good?"

He chewed anxiously on his bottom lip before he hesitantly began, "Eunji's mother... she's a remarkable woman, isn't she?"

Joy's expression turned solemn at the mention of the child's parent, "Indeed, she was," The past tense in her response caught Seonghwa's attention, and he furrowed his brow, puzzled, "That's weird, why would you say it like that?"

She scratched her head, genuinely perplexed, "What do you mean?"

He placed his hands on his hips and stared at her, unamused, "You literally said 'was' instead of 'is,' like she's dead or something."

At this revelation, Joy blinked in surprise, "Umm, maybe because she is dead? I thought you knew, that's why you're bringing her up."

Seonghwa shot up from his seat immediately, his eyes wide with shock, "W-what do you mean?! I just saw her drop Eunji off this morning!"

That's when his colleague slapped a palm over her forehead, realising the mix-up, "Bruh, that's not Eunji's mother! That's her aunt, you doofus!"

He sat back down in his seat, his mind racing to process the new information. He felt a mix of embarrassment, surprise, and curiosity, "Wait, what? That's her... aunt?" He croaked, finally comprehending the revelation that upended his assumptions. He's been mistaken all along, wrongly assuming that you were Eunji's mother.

As he replayed all the interactions he's had with you, the pieces of the puzzle started to fit together differently.

It dawned on him that the dynamic he perceived between you and Eunji was not that of a mother and child but of a dedicated aunt taking on the role of guardian. This realisation left Seonghwa with a newfound sense of hope, a chance he'd never imagined before.

His heart began to race, not only from the embarrassment of his mistake but also from the realisation that his feelings for you were no longer encumbered by the thought of you being a married woman.

"Yeah, poor Eunji's parents died in a tragic car accident about a year ago. Her aunt was left with no choice but to care for her all alone, especially since Eunji's grandparents were all gone too. From what I know, she's been struggling quite a bit, trying to adjust her life to the sudden new addition of a child. It must be extremely difficult, so if you're trying to say she's remarkable, I completely agree with you." Joy clarified the situation, finally giving Seonghwa the full picture of the story.

He absorbed this information, his heart aching for the difficult circumstances you've been navigating. The admiration he felt for you deepened even more, not only for the love and care you provided to Eunji but also for the strength and resilience you displayed during such challenging times.

He realised that he's been drawn to you not just because of his attraction but because of the genuine respect and appreciation he held for the way you've handled the situation.

The relief of finding out you weren't Eunji's mother was quite apparent on his face, and Joy, with her mischievous grin, didn't miss a beat. She wagged her finger at him, her eyes twinkling with amusement, "Well, well, well, guess who has a crush on his student's guardian."

His eyes widened in realisation, knowing he'd been caught red-handed, "Wha—"

She interrupted him, not letting him evade the truth.

"Don't even bother trying to hide it, I see through you. It's about damn time, Park Seonghwa! I was starting to think you were hopeless, but you're making me proud now," She wiped a fake tear off her face dramatically, causing him to roll his eyes and playfully smack her on the arm, "Oh, shut up, it's just a little crush."

But that didn't deter Joy as she continued to tease him with a mischievous grin, "Oh, just a little crush, huh?"

Before she could carry on with her good-natured ribbing, the bell rang, signalling that lunchtime was over. Seonghwa let out a sigh of relief as the students began to file back into the classroom.

The whirlwind of emotions and revelations during lunch left him slightly breathless, but it also ignited a spark of hope and anticipation for what the future might hold.

Today was one of those days when you were terribly late to pick up your niece from kindergarten. Seonghwa and Joy were the only ones left with the child, and as the sky grew dark and the school closed its doors, a sense of unease settled in.

Seonghwa has been trying to reach you, but his calls have unfortunately gone unanswered.

He knelt beside Eunji, trying to reassure the child, whose eyes were welling up with tears, "Hey, hey, it's alright. Your aunty's going to be here soon, I promise," The child's voice trembled as she voiced her fear, "What if aunty leaves me like mummy and daddy?" Joy shook her head, her heart going out to the young girl, "Of course not! Your aunty is coming, I know it!"

Just as her words settled Eunji's nerves, you finally arrived, out of breath and visibly shaken. Your hands were bruised and bloodied, and you looked exhausted. Your niece's tears turned into relief as she spotted you and rushed into your arms, "Aunty!"

You held her tightly, sighing tiredly into her hair as you stroked the back of her head. The teachers approached you, worry etched across their faces as they immediately noticed the dishevelled state you were in. The concern was evident in their eyes, and they exchanged silent glances as they contemplated how to address the situation.

Seonghwa immediately sprang into action, helping you pick up your work bag that had fallen to the floor. Joy, with a look of genuine concern, guided you to the nearest bench.

"Are you alright?" She asked gently.

You sighed heavily, wincing slightly as she examined your injuries, "I was held back by an important meeting today, and while I was rushing to get here, a bike nearly ran into me! Thankfully, a kind stranger managed to pull me out of the way just in time. I guess I'm lucky these are the only injuries I sustained."

Seonghwa frowned, sitting down beside you with Eunji on his lap, the worry etched across his face, "What happened to your car?"

You bit your lip and rubbed your neck sheepishly.

"It's in the workshop waiting to be serviced, but I'm kinda short on money lately, so I can't afford it for the time being. But I promise I won't let that stop me from coming to pick Eunji up on time again! I'm so sorry for the trouble I've caused you both."

Joy shook her head in understanding and quickly moved into the school to grab some plasters for your injured hands. Seonghwa, on the other hand, sat there with furrowed brows, deeply concerned not just about the car but about the tough situation you were in.

He couldn't bear to see you in this predicament and decided that he had to step in and help, otherwise, he would never forgive himself, "How are you going to get home then?" He asked, genuine concern in his eyes.

You were visibly contemplating your options, knowing that walking home with Eunji would be challenging but not wanting to burden the teachers further, "We'll... we'll walk home, we don't live that far from here anyway." It was at that moment that Joy returned with the necessary first aid supplies, and she shook her head in a determined manner.

"Absolutely not, Seonghwa will take you both home." She insisted. She then turned her attention to your injured hands, gently cleaning the wounds and applying the plasters.

Your eyes widened, and you shook your head furiously, feeling guilty about imposing further, "N-no, please, Mr. Park, you don't have to! Gosh, I've troubled you enough. I can't possibly expect that from you."

But Seonghwa simply smiled, ruffling Eunji's hair as she giggled, "Don't worry about it; I want to help. Besides, I have nowhere to be after work, and you say you don't stay far from here, right?"

You nodded shyly, feeling a mix of emotions.

No one has ever been so generous to you before, and the fact that your niece's kind and handsome teacher was going out of his way to assist you touched your heart. The attraction you've been feeling for him has been growing, but now, it has become even more undeniable. Seonghwa's kindness and generosity were drawing you closer to him.

His warm smile filled you with gratitude, "Oh, and please, just call me Seonghwa from now on."

You smiled in response, relieved that he was making an effort to be closer to you, "Okay. Thank you, Seonghwa."

Meanwhile, his colleague pretended to gag behind you, making him throw her an annoyed glare, "Go home, Joy. Your boyfriend must be worried." He said, attempting to make her leave him alone.

Joy smirked, knowing he wanted to be alone with you.

"Alright, alright. I'll get going first then. I trust Seonghwa to take good care of you two. See you tomorrow, Eunji-yah!" She said as she waved to your niece, who beamed in response.

"Bye-bye, Teacher Joy!" The child called out with excitement as Joy finally left, leaving you and Seonghwa alone.

The three of you settled into Seonghwa's car, with little Eunji securely buckled in the back seat. He gave a playful question, asking, "Are you ready?" Your chuckles filled the car when the child responded with excitement, shouting, "Yes! Let's go, Teacher Hwa!"

As you made your way home, he gathered the courage to ask you, "So, do you have any food prepared at home for dinner?"

It was then that you realised you'd forgotten to prepare anything, and you hurriedly replied, "Oh, no! I forgot all about stocking up on groceries, but it's fine! Just drop us home, I'll run to the nearest convenience store and take care of it."

He pursed his lips and shook his head firmly, "No way, I'm taking you two to dinner, and we can go grocery shopping together. How's that sound, Eunji-yah?" He asked, glancing at the young girl, who cheered and clapped happily, her enthusiasm melting your heart.

"But—" You were about to protest, but Seonghwa cut you off, "No 'buts,' we're doing this."

You nodded in defeat, acknowledging that he was being genuinely kind and helpful, "Oh, alright, I owe you for this."

He grinned, fully aware that he had an opportunity to get to know you better and earn your trust. He didn't want to rush things or scare you away, so he was determined to be patient and take things one step at a time.

The teacher took you and Eunji to a cosy little Chinese restaurant and ordered everything you both wanted to eat, even when you protested and told him that you couldn't possibly eat that much. He insisted, his kindness and attentiveness shining through.

You've known that he was a good and caring man; his reputation at the kindergarten made that clear. He was incredibly popular among the parents, not just for his handsome looks but for his genuine compassion and warmth.

As you observed his sweet interactions with Eunji, your heart warmed even more. You realised how much your niece must have missed having a father figure in her life, and Seonghwa was filling that role beautifully during this dinner.

All this time, you've been juggling the responsibilities of both mother and father ever since your sister and brother-in-law had left the world so suddenly. It was a heavy burden, and Seonghwa's presence and the genuine care he showed not only to Eunji but to you as well, were like a breath of fresh air.

As you ate, he found himself staring at the injuries on your hand. Concern for you had taken root in his heart, and he couldn't ignore the fact that you were facing financial difficulties, struggling to even afford car servicing.

The memory of your near accident weighed heavily on his mind, and he decided to broach the subject.

He cleared his throat and spoke gently, "Listen, the situation with your car worries me, especially considering what happened today. How about this? I could drop you off at work in the mornings and pick you up in the evenings. You won't have to worry about your safety, and it would be no trouble at all for me to take Eunji to school with me."

You rejected his offer, grateful for his kindness but concerned about the burden it would place on him, "Seonghwa, you've done so much for us already, and I appreciate it more than you can know. But I couldn't possibly ask you to go through all this trouble. I don't know how I could ever repay you if you did."

He placed his chopsticks down, his expression serious and determined, and he sighed lightly.

"Trust me, I understand that you feel bad, but I promise you're not taking advantage of anything. I genuinely want to help you. If not for yourself, at least accept it for Eunji's sake. You have no idea how scared she was today when you showed up late. She... was afraid you'd leave her like her parents did."

Your eyes widened at the realisation, and you immediately shook your head, pulling your niece closer to you and pressing kisses all over her head as you assured her that you'd never leave her. The thought of Eunji feeling abandoned like that was heartbreaking.

After a moment of contemplation, you realised he was right. You reluctantly agreed, thanking him profusely for his generous offer. His kindness and genuine concern for you and Eunji touched you, and you were so grateful for his presence in your life.

You had an incredibly enjoyable time at the supermarket with Seonghwa after the hearty meal. It has been a long while since you'd had this much fun, and he made sure to spoil your niece with snacks and toys, occasionally sneaking in a few items he noticed you eyeing without your knowledge. The joy on Eunji's face was priceless, and you couldn't help but smile.

As he stood at your apartment entrance with the child asleep in his arms, you opened the door wider to let him in. If he found your small studio apartment cramped, he didn't mention it. He carefully placed Eunji on your queen-sized bed, tucking her in with a soft smile.

You led him quietly back to the entrance, feeling immensely grateful for all that he's done, "Thank you so much for everything, Seonghwa. I will pay you back for it all someday, I promise."

He chuckled, shaking his head, "Don't worry about any of that, just... take good care of Eunji and yourself. That's enough repayment."

His words touched you deeply, and you bit back your tears.

"Alright then, I'll pick you two up at 7am tomorrow morning," He said, a hint of warmth in his eyes, "We'll be ready by then! Drive safe, Seonghwa. Text me when you get home."

His heart skipped a beat at your concern, and he stammered, "Y-yeah, I will. See you!" He gave you a gentle smile before departing, leaving you with a feeling of warmth and a newfound connection that was growing stronger with each passing day.

The next morning, you and Eunji got ready and waited by your apartment entrance at 6:55am. True to his word, Seonghwa arrived right on the dot at 7am. Your niece's face lit up with excitement when she saw her favourite teacher approaching.

"Good morning, Teacher Hwa!" She called out, waving her tiny arm enthusiastically.

You smiled warmly at him, "Good morning, Seonghwa."

He greeted you both and came to help you place the child in her seat at the back, expertly buckling her up. He then ran over to your side and opened the door for you, even when you protested that there was no need to.

"Here, I prepared this for you so you don't start work with an empty stomach." He said, pulling out a bag containing a carefully crafted homemade bento set.

Your eyes widened in surprise, "Oh my, Seonghwa! You're too kind; you really didn't have to! I'm already so thankful you're offering to drive me to and from work."

He blushed slightly, "Well, I... I made extra, so I thought I'd pack you some of the leftovers as well. Don't worry about it, please."

You bit your lip, sensing that he was downplaying his generosity, but you decided not to push him any further, "Alright. Thank you so much, Seonghwa."

He beamed and began driving you to your workplace. As you rode along, a sense of gratitude filled your heart, and you realised that his presence brought light and warmth in a way you hadn't expected.

Seonghwa pulled up outside your office building right on time.

As you got out of the car, you couldn't contain your smile when you saw your friend and colleague, San, waiting at the entrance for you.

San offered to give you a lift after finding out about your near accident, but you told him that you already had it covered, without going into too much detail. So, he was quite surprised to see you arriving in another man's car. What surprised him even more was seeing your little niece in the backseat as well.

You exited the vehicle, making sure to wave at Eunji before bowing in gratitude at Seonghwa as he drove away.

San couldn't resist teasing you when you finally walked up to him, "Ooh, who was that? Don't tell me you found yourself a boyfriend already! And don't think I didn't notice little Eunji sitting in the back as well. You better spill, woman."

You burst out laughing, smacking him on the arm playfully before spilling the details about Seonghwa and his kindness. As you shared the story, your colleague listened with interest, chuckling along with you at the heartwarming tale.

As you both settled into your cubicles, with San's desk just opposite yours, he continued to tease you, "You know what, I think he has a crush on you. He literally hasn't even known you that long, and he's doing all this for you? Girl, I'm calling it."

You shook your head, feeling the blush on your cheeks as you waved him off, "Sannie, please, I honestly doubt it. I think it's more likely that he's taking pity on us and probably just has a soft spot for Eunji. Besides, what man would want to get themselves into this?"

He frowned, not liking the way you were so self-deprecating, "Into what?"

You blinked, taken aback, "Isn't it obvious? I'm basically a single parent, and I could barely take care of myself. Who in their right mind would want to take on this burden?"

San narrowed his eyes disapprovingly at you, "No, I won't allow you to sit here and talk about yourself like that."

Before he could further give you his pep talk to remind you of how wrong you were about yourself, your manager stepped into the office, immediately throwing your friend a warning glare. He was notorious for gossiping during work hours, and your superior has been out to get him ever since she first caught him slacking off.

San pouted and sank into his seat reluctantly, but not before giving you a look that said, "This isn't over."

You sighed, appreciating his concern but not wanting to give yourself false hope. Seonghwa was almost too good to be true, and it would be cruel to let yourself believe that you stood a chance with him when he was probably just that nice of a guy and likely only wanted to help as Eunji's teacher.

Focusing on your work, you reminded yourself that, regardless of the future, you had to continue to be the best parent and guardian you could be for Eunji. Whatever may come, the bond that was forming between you, your niece, and Seonghwa was already a gift in itself.

Meanwhile, Seonghwa arrived at the kindergarten with Eunji in his arms. The sight of him carrying the little girl caused Joy to raise her eyebrows mischievously. He rolled his eyes, fully aware that she wasn't going to let him live this down, especially after he shared the events that unfolded the night before.

Joy had always been quick to pick up on his emotions and seemed to have a knack for getting him to spill the beans about his personal life. As he headed into the kindergarten with Eunji, he knew that he was in for another one of his colleague's teasing sessions.

After setting your niece down in her classroom and watching her run off to play with her classmates, he wasn't surprised to see Joy blocking his way with a devious grin.

She wasted no time in getting to the point.

"So, I take it last evening went incredibly well," She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, "You're welcome, by the way. When you do get married to her, I better be the maid of honour."

He scoffed in disbelief, "Aren't you thinking a little too far ahead? I'm literally a long way from even earning her complete trust. I'd be lucky if she even considered me her friend, and you're joking about marriage, really?"

Joy smirked and nudged him on the shoulder, "Oh, come on, but you do want it to happen, don't you?"

He blinked, stammering, "Sh-shut up, Joy. It's too early to tell."

She snickered, "Oh, is it?" Before she could continue, the bell saved him again as she went to her own class, but not before sending him more teasing looks.

He sighed and shook his head, trying to focus on his work, but he couldn't help thinking about the bond that was slowly forming between him, you, and Eunji. The future was uncertain, but for the time being, he couldn't deny that he was becoming more and more hopeful about what might come next.

Unbeknownst to you and Seonghwa, you had both been on each other's minds the entire day.

As the hours passed, you were equally looking forward to seeing each other again after work. Your lunch breaks were spent enduring playful teasing from your colleagues in your respective ways, but with the thought of getting off work on your minds, you both managed to power through more easily.

Seonghwa, perhaps a bit more than you, was lucky enough to be surrounded by adorable children all day. In contrast, you were piled with endless reports to write and deadlines to meet.

Despite your different work environments, both of you sighed with relief at the same time when the clock struck 6pm. Your hearts fluttered at the thought of meeting again soon, as if the anticipation was a shared connection between the two of you.

"Bye-bye, Teacher Joy!" Eunji waved excitedly, her tiny arms holding onto Seonghwa's shoulders as he carried her to his car. He was preparing to leave the kindergarten and pick you up from work.

He resisted the urge to flip Joy off, who was still wiggling her brows playfully at him and sticking her tongue out to provoke him. Instead, he focused on your niece, giving her a reassuring smile before moving to get into his car.

The car ride to pick you up felt like an eternity, even though it was just a short drive. He was eager to see you, his heart pounding with anticipation.

He couldn't help thinking about how your evening together might unfold and whether you'd been looking forward to it as much as he had. As he pulled up to your workplace, he couldn't stop himself from smiling at the thought of seeing you again.

Seonghwa eventually spotted you emerging from the office, but you were with your male colleague from that morning who was tugging you by the wrist. He knew it was irrational, but he felt a twinge of jealousy seeing you so close to another man who wasn't him.

Your colleague, after spotting his car already waiting, immediately beamed and waved a hand in greeting. Seonghwa nodded back politely, smiling tightly as he watched San ruffle your hair before helping you open the car door.

"Hi, I'm San! Nice to meet you, Seonghwa. She's told me a lot about you. Thank you for helping my friend out; it means a lot!" Your colleague's friendly introduction made it clear that he was just looking out for you.

Seonghwa quickly realised that San was just being friendly and shook his head, "Oh, it's nice to meet you too, San. Please, don't mention it."

San turned to wave excitedly at your niece, "Hey, Eunji-yah!" The child bounced in her seat, "Hi, uncle Sannie!" He cooed before saying his goodbyes and left, not without sending you a devious smile that made you roll your eyes.

Seonghwa was surprised to learn that San and Eunji were already acquainted. He tried to be subtle as he inquired, "Oh, have San and Eunji already met? They seem familiar with each other."

You chuckled and nodded, "Yeah, Sannie's a rather close friend of mine outside of work. He has been over at my place a few times to help out when things get a little overwhelming for me alone."

He made sure to smile widely and nodded slowly, hiding any hint of envy he might have felt. He wanted to be the one to help you out, and he silently promised himself that he would try to be there for you more from now on. He wanted to be the one who made a difference in your life, and he was determined to earn your trust and affection.

Days turned into weeks, and your mornings and evenings with Seonghwa transformed into a comforting routine. He continued to pack you food, despite your protests, and consistently treated you and Eunji to delightful dinners before taking you home.

Over the course of several months, he evolved into a strong pillar of support in your life.

Thanks to his constant presence and willingness to help, you rarely had to ask San for assistance anymore. Seonghwa's reliability eased the burden that life had placed upon your shoulders. He became a source of comfort, and your niece slowly began to see him as a father figure, looking up to him with admiration and affection.

As you spent more time with him, he continuously surprised you with his endless caring and attentive gestures. Whether it was helping you prepare meals, being there to pick you up after work, or simply offering a reassuring presence, he went above and beyond what was expected of a teacher.

Your heart began to race more each day, your affection for him growing as you appreciated the little things he did, even when he didn't need to.

You didn't realise the extent of your reliance on Seonghwa until one fateful night when Eunji's cries woke you up from your sleep. You pushed yourself off of your bed, rushing to her side to check on her.

Panic welled up in your chest as you saw her clutching her stomach and crying out in pain.

"It hurts, aunty... it hurts." She whimpered, her small face contorted in agony. Your heart nearly stopped as she screamed in pain when you tried to lift her up, "Oh no, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, my angel. It's okay... it's going to be okay." Tears welled in your eyes, and your heart ached to see her in so much distress.

You felt helpless, not knowing what to do to ease her pain.

Not daring to move the child further in fear of hurting her even more, you scrambled to grab your phone instead. Feeling frustrated and frantic, you dialled your first contact, which was supposed to be San, but it went straight to voicemail, indicating that his phone was likely turned off.

Your heart sank, and tears rolled down your cheeks as you rushed back to your niece's side, trying to comfort her while trembling with fear. You needed help immediately, and with no other options, you dialled Seonghwa's number.

It took him a moment, but he eventually picked up, his voice filled with urgency, "Hey, is everything alright?" He must have known that something was terribly wrong for you to call at this late hour.

You struggled to keep your voice steady as you spoke to him, your fear and desperation were evident in your shaky words, "S-Seonghwa... please help. I-I'm so scared... God, she's in pain, and I d-don't know what to do..."

Seonghwa didn't waste a second.

He was already up and getting changed the moment he heard you call out to him so vulnerably. His heart lurched in his chest as he tried to comfort you over the phone.

"Alright, I'm going to need you to breathe with me first. Can you do that? Don't hang up; I'm coming over right now, and I'll stay with you on the phone. We'll get through this together, okay? I'll be there before you know it. It'll be okay."

His calming words and the thought of his imminent arrival were like a lifeline, and you did your best to follow his instructions and regulate your breathing. You clung to the phone, thankful for his presence and reassuring voice as you waited for him.

The weight of the situation pressed down on you, and the feeling of helplessness was overwhelming. You held your niece tightly, whispering soothing words to her while you awaited his arrival.

Relief washed over you as you heard the knock at the door. You swung it open and cried out his name in gratitude, quickly pulling him into your unit. He knelt down beside your niece, and you could see the worry in his eyes as he looked at her.

"Teacher Hwa... it hurts." Eunji sobbed, clutching her belly.

Seonghwa gently felt her forehead, his expression turning more serious as he realised she was running a fever.

"It's okay, I'm here now. We'll take you to the hospital, and all the pain will go away real soon, okay?" He reassured her. She nodded as best she could, her trust in Seonghwa evident in her teary eyes. While he comforted her, you rushed around, packing a bag with some clothes and necessities for the hospital.

He approached you and steadied your shaking hands, "Hey, it's going to be okay. I think she has appendicitis; it's pretty common for kids. Don't worry too much, alright?" His calm and reassuring words helped to alleviate some of your anxiety.

Seonghwa's experience and expertise in such situations were a tremendous comfort. He carefully lifted Eunji from your bed and placed her in his car while you quickly got into the back seat, wanting to be as close to her as possible.

The trip to the hospital was still filled with worry, but he expertly guided you both, instructing you on what to do whenever the child felt any discomfort.

As Eunji was immediately taken into the emergency care unit upon arrival at the hospital, the doctors swiftly confirmed the diagnosis of appendicitis. They explained that you both were fortunate to have arrived early enough for her appendix to still be intact. If you had come later, it could have burst, leading to more complications.

Despite the worry, the doctors assured you that your niece would be just fine after the surgery to remove her inflamed appendix. This news was a tremendous relief, and it filled you with gratitude that she was in the right place at the right time, thanks to her teacher's swift response.

Sitting there on the bench outside the operation theatre, you finally let your guard down, tears streaming down your face.

"Thank you so much, Seonghwa. I... I really don't know what I would have done without you. I was going to call San but couldn't reach him, and I was so scared. God, if something were to happen to her, I would never forgive myself. I've already lost most of my family, I... I can't lose her too, Seonghwa. I really can't..."

He listened to your words, and his heart swelled with compassion as he understood the depth of your fears and anxieties.

A small part of him was glad that San hadn't been available, or he wouldn't have been the one to be here with you now. But he reminded himself that now wasn't the time to relish in this.

With a gentle but firm embrace, he pulled you close to him, allowing you to cry into his shoulder. His own heart ached for the pain you've endured and the burdens you carried.

He couldn't imagine how tough things must have been for you all this while. As if losing your sister and brother-in-law wasn't painful enough, you were suddenly responsible for a child you were struggling to take care of physically, emotionally and financially, having no experience whatsoever.

As he held you, he whispered softly, "You're doing an incredible job. It's not easy, but you've shown such strength and resilience. You're a wonderful guardian to Eunji, and she's so lucky to have you."

You clung to him, finding solace in his comforting presence. His support was a lifeline during your most vulnerable moment.

As your sobs subsided, Seonghwa slowly pulled away, his warm hands moving to brush some stray hair out of your face and gently wiping your tears before cupping your cheeks. His actions immediately sent your heart into a frenzy.

He gazed into your eyes with sincerity, his voice filled with reassurance, "You're not alone in this. I'll always be here for you and Eunji, no matter what. You're like family to me now, and I'll support you through all the ups and downs."

Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt your breath hitch as he leaned in closer. The air crackled with unspoken tension, and you felt his warm breath on your lips. It was an electric moment, but he knew it was crucial to respect your vulnerable state.

Deep down, he wanted nothing more than to kiss you on the lips.

But he settled for pressing his lips gently against your forehead for now. His kiss conveyed his unspoken feelings, the deep care and affection he held for you. It was a promise of his support, even in the face of your most challenging moments.

With his lips against your skin, your heart raced with a flurry of emotions. The warmth of the kiss sent shivers down your spine, and you couldn't help but wonder about his true feelings.

On one hand, there were undeniable signs that he cared deeply for you. The way he's consistently been there for you and Eunji, his thoughtful gestures, and the never-ending support he offered in your times of need all pointed to a deeper connection.

But you couldn't shake the nagging doubt that maybe he was just being a caring friend.

Your own insecurities played a significant role in your hesitance. You found it difficult to believe that someone as perfect as Seonghwa would be romantically interested in you, a single parent with a messy, complicated life.

While his actions spoke volumes, you struggled to accept the possibility that this man could want to be part of your world. It left you caught in a whirlwind of emotions, battling between hope and self-doubt, trying to decipher the complexities of your relationship with him.

The relief that washed over you as the doctor confirmed the success of Eunji's surgery was almost overwhelming. You thanked the medical team profusely, your voice trembling with gratitude.

But then, your emotions got the best of you.

You wrapped your arms tightly around Seonghwa's neck and buried your face in his shoulder, this time letting out tears of relief.

His immediate response was to hold you even closer, his arms providing the safety and comfort you desperately needed. His hand gently stroked the back of your head, and he whispered soothing words, "I told you everything would be okay, didn't I?" He said softly, his voice a gentle reassurance.

With a weary nod, you continued to cry against his shoulder, seeking solace in his warm embrace.

Normally, you would have hesitated to be so bold, but the physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion had pushed you beyond your usual boundaries. At this moment, all you wanted was comfort, and Seonghwa was more than willing to provide it.

You decided that, for now, you would allow yourself to lean on him.

As you sat beside Eunji's hospital bed, your eyes were fixated on her peaceful slumber. You breathed a sigh of relief, silently thanking all the gods you didn't believe in for ensuring her safety. You held her tiny hand against your forehead, grateful for the successful surgery.

The peace was interrupted by the ringing of your phone. You swiftly moved away from her bedside to answer, careful not to wake her.

It was San on the other end, his voice filled with concern and guilt, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry! My phone died last night, and I forgot to charge it. Why'd you call me in the middle of the night? Did something happen?"

You took a deep breath, preparing yourself to recount the ordeal, and San listened attentively, apologising profusely for not being there when you needed him. You assured him that it was alright, understanding that it was an honest mistake. He promised to visit later after arranging leave from work for both of you.

As the conversation with San came to an end, you suddenly remembered Seonghwa's commitment to his job at the kindergarten. You immediately felt a pang of guilt for relying on him so heavily when he had his own responsibilities to attend to.

You approached Seonghwa, who was peacefully napping on the couch in the corner of the hospital ward, and knelt down in front of him to observe him for a moment.

His head bobbed sleepily, and you couldn't resist smiling at how adorable he looked. It was undeniable now that you'd developed deep feelings for him, but at the same time, you felt the weight of your circumstances bearing down on you. You believed that you had nothing to offer him, and he deserved someone who could reciprocate the love and care he had so selflessly given you.

Collecting your thoughts, you gently shook him on the shoulder.

He immediately snapped awake, "Oh dear, I fell asleep, didn't I? Sorry about that," You shook your head, assuring him that he had nothing to be sorry for, "Gosh no, please don't apologise for that. I should be the one saying sorry. You should probably go home and get some rest before going to work."

In fact, you felt guilty for relying on him so much.

But he quickly sat up straight and protested, "What? No, I'm staying here with you two."

You sat beside him and smiled, "You really don't have to, Seonghwa. Sannie is applying for leave, he's coming over soon. And I... I've troubled you enough; you can't miss work because of us too. You can come to visit after work if you'd like, but please... don't skip work too, I feel bad enough already."

He relented after hearing you out; he could tell you really didn't want him to sacrifice any more for you.

Reluctantly, he agreed to go to work. He didn't want to make you feel like you owed him more than you already did. You smiled and walked him to the room door, expressing your gratitude once again.

"Thank you again, Seonghwa. You... you saved her life, and I can never thank you enough for this." You said with genuine appreciation. Your eyes reflected a mix of emotions and gratitude.

He nodded, his expression soft.

"You don't have to thank me. I want to be here for you and Eunji," He replied, emphasising his genuine concern for you both, "Don't ever hesitate to call me if you need anything, alright? I'm always ready to help, always."

Before he left, you held his hand for a moment, meeting his eyes with a depth of emotion that couldn't be ignored. It was clear that your connection was growing stronger each day, despite the obstacles and self-doubts. He squeezed your hand gently and then left the hospital room.

After Seonghwa's departure, you sat by Eunji's bedside, relieved that she was recovering.

As San walked into the hospital room, his eyes met yours, and he immediately noticed your tear-stained face. Without a word, you ran into his open arms, seeking solace in the friend who has been your rock throughout these challenging times. He held you close, silently reassuring you that he was there and that you didn't need to face everything alone.

"God, I'm so sorry," He whispered softly, his voice filled with genuine regret, "I should've been here for you, especially when you needed me the most."

You clung to him, tears flowing freely, your shoulders shaking with the weight of your emotions. San continued to hold you, providing the support you desperately needed in this moment.

The bond between you and San had grown over the years, as he had been with you through all the hardships you faced. He was like the brother you never had, and his presence brought you immense comfort, reminding you that you were never truly alone.

He chuckled as you both settled down, the tension from earlier finally releasing its grip on you. With a playful gleam in his eye, he couldn't resist some light teasing, "I'm telling you, Seonghwa is definitely a simp for you."

Your laughter was a welcome sound, even given the circumstances, and it was a reminder that life still had its moments of lightness. But as you chewed on your lip and confessed your feelings, his teasing demeanour softened, and he offered his heartfelt advice.

"Sannie... I think I might have feelings for him too, but... I'm scared." You whispered.

He sighed, his gaze understanding and empathetic.

His hand gently rubbed your arm as he spoke, "Listen to me, I know you think that being a single parent makes you unattractive, but Seonghwa has proven you wrong, hasn't he? Besides, don't tell me you're going to deprive yourself of the opportunity to fall in love just because of Eunji? You should still live your life, you know? It's what your sister would've wanted for you, to be happy."

Your eyes met his, filled with gratitude.

"I'm telling you, you deserve happiness just like anyone else," He whispered, his tone filled with sincerity, "You can't let fear hold you back. Seonghwa's actions speak for themselves, don't they? He's a wonderful person, and if you have feelings for him, you should explore that possibility. I can see the way he looks at you; it's more than just sympathy."

You bit your lip, contemplating his words. Your sister would have undoubtedly wanted you to be happy, and it was time to think about your own well-being and happiness. You nodded slowly, gratitude filling your eyes as you met San's gaze.

"You're right, Sannie," You replied with a grateful smile, "I'll... try to open up and see where things go with Seonghwa. Thank you for always being there for me."

San's endless encouragement was the very thing you needed to hear. His words were a gentle nudge toward embracing your feelings.

Eunji's voice was like a soothing melody in the room, and you rushed to her side, tears in your eyes, "Aunty... uncle Sannie?" Her little voice croaked, and you knelt beside her bed, your heart swelling with love.

"Aunty's here, Eunji-yah." You whispered, your voice trembling with emotion.

San, who had been sitting beside you, leaned in to join you, "Uncle Sannie is here too, sweetheart."

Eunji reached her tiny hands out, her fingers brushing against your cheeks to wipe away the tears that trickled down. Her concern and innocence touched you deeply, and you smiled through your tears, "Eunji-yah, you feeling much better?"

San's gentle hands moved the child's baby hair out of her face, and she nodded in response, "Don't cry, aunty. I'm okay now."

You chuckled through your tears, kissing her soft cheeks, "Yes, of course you are. My angel is so brave and strong."

As the medical team checked on your niece and made sure she was stable, you and San remained by her side, grateful for her recovery. Eunji was now sitting up in her hospital bed, engrossed in watching cartoons on the TV.

After a while, she wondered aloud, "Where is Teacher Hwa?" Her voice was still soft, but there was a clear longing in her words.

You smiled and leaned over, ruffling her hair and planting a loving kiss on her head, "Teacher Hwa needs to go to work, sweetie. But he'll come by afterwards, is that alright?"

She nodded cutely in understanding, but there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes, "I miss Teacher Hwa." She admitted.

I miss him too.

San couldn't resist spoiling her with affectionate kisses and playful teasing, and you had to agree with her unspoken sentiment. Deep down, you missed her class teacher too, more than you were willing to admit.

Two days later, Eunji was finally approved for discharge from the hospital. As you settled the hospital fees, you sighed to yourself. The money you were using to pay the bills had initially been saved up for your car to be serviced, but now, it seemed that particular expense would have to wait a bit longer.

You kept your financial struggles to yourself, not wanting to burden San or Seonghwa any further. You knew they would help you without hesitation, but you already felt like you owed them more than you could ever repay in this lifetime.

Returning to Eunji's ward, you find Seonghwa packing up her stuff while San helps her get changed out of her hospital gown.

The sight warmed your heart, and even though San's support was something you'd grown accustomed to and deeply appreciated, having Seonghwa there too gave you a newfound sense of hope. San's words from just a few days ago echoed in your mind, and you began to entertain the idea that maybe, just maybe, love was possible even in the midst of everything you were going through.

Meanwhile, the two men unexpectedly began to form a friendship during the time they spent together taking care of your niece over the past few days. All the while, San never failed to send you playful glances and subtle thumbs-ups whenever Seonghwa looked away to signal his approval of the kindergarten teacher.

Eunji perked up when she saw you enter the room.

"Aunty!" She called out, sprinting towards you as soon as San was done helping her get dressed. You picked her up in your arms and laughed when you saw your friend pouting jealously in the background, his arms crossed in mock annoyance.

"Yes, yes, run to your aunty and leave me behind. Leave poor uncle Sannie alone after everything he's done for you." He sighed dramatically, wiping a fake tear from his eye.

Seonghwa chuckled at the scene.

San reminded him a lot of Joy, and he had a feeling they'd make a chaotic duo if they ever met each other.

Pushing the concerns about your financial status to the back of your mind, you decided to focus on the present and worry about that later. Seeing all the most important people to you together, the future seemed a bit brighter.

You had a growing support system that included a caring friend like San and, possibly, a romantic connection with Seonghwa. Though you were still hesitant to fully embrace the idea of love in your life, your niece's recovery and the presence of these two amazing men were giving you hope that maybe, just maybe, there was room for happiness after all.

As days turned into weeks, Seonghwa's actions became increasingly deliberate. It was as if he could read your mind and were aware of your insecurities, he was making a conscious effort to let you know about his non-platonic feelings.

He didn't just stop at being a good friend and support system; he wanted to be more than that in your life.

His compliments became more heartfelt and frequent, making you blush and smile whenever he praised you. His words, no longer confined to appreciating your strength or kindness, now included expressions of admiration for your beauty, your intelligence, and even your sense of humour. He made sure to remind you of how special you were to him every chance he got.

He began to do little things that set your heart racing.

Tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear during dinner, his fingers gently brushing your skin, sent shivers down your spine. Wiping your lips when you were eating, though seemingly innocent, took on a more intimate meaning when his thumb grazed your lower lip in a slow, deliberate movement. He held your gaze longer than necessary, his eyes revealing the depth of his feelings, and a small, knowing smile often graced his lips.

Seonghwa wasn't afraid to be physical in his affection either. He started walking with a hand resting on the small of your back, his touch warm and reassuring. These gestures sent your heart into overdrive, and you wondered if maybe he felt the same way about you as you did about him.

His advances were impossible to ignore, and it was becoming increasingly apparent that his feelings for you were not limited to friendship.

Unbeknownst to you, he's been preparing to ask you a very important question on a very important day.

The day had been exceptionally hectic for you.

Your workload had grown to mountainous proportions, and while everyone, including San, had left the office, you remained behind to tackle the never-ending tasks. It was one of those days when deadlines and responsibilities refused to be tamed.

You glanced at the time and realised it was much later than you'd initially planned. A quick text to Seonghwa informed him that you would need a little more time at the office and asked him to pick you up slightly later than usual. You suggested he grab dinner with Eunji while they waited for you.

As you dove back into your work, minutes turned into hours. The relentless ticking of the clock was accompanied by the echo of your typing, and the office became a quiet refuge, save for the dim hum of the fluorescent lights.

Seonghwa's text alert came, signalling his arrival, but you were engrossed in a report, and it took you a moment to notice the message. You quickly wrapped up the document and started packing your things, your mind racing to meet the deadline.

When you finally arrived at the entrance, you were greeted by a sight that left you utterly speechless.

There, waiting for you with bright smiles and expectant eyes, was Seonghwa, San, and Eunji. In Seonghwa's hands was a cake with a single lit candle, Eunji clutched a bouquet of colourful flowers, and San held a bunch of balloons.

As they began singing "Happy Birthday" in unison, the tears welled up in your eyes. You've been so consumed by your work that you'd genuinely forgotten about your own birthday. Their thoughtful gesture touched your heart deeply, making you feel cherished and loved in a way you hadn't in a long time.

You stood there, absorbing the warmth of their surprise, appreciating the genuine smiles on their faces, and feeling incredibly lucky to have them in your life.

After they finished singing, you shyly approached Seonghwa to blow out the single candle on the cake, "Oh, thank you so much, you three!" You exclaimed, chuckling through your tears of joy.

You moved to take the colourful bouquet of flowers from Eunji, who seemed puzzled by your tears. She asked with her innocent eyes, "Aunty, don't cry! Are you sad?"

You shook your head, still smiling through your watery eyes as you kissed her little cheeks, "Of course not, silly! I'm crying because I'm happy!" She seemed slightly perplexed but content, leaning in to press a wet, loving kiss to your cheek, "I love you, Aunty." She said, her voice filled with genuine affection.

With Eunji's tender declaration of love warming your heart, San, who had been clearing his throat loudly, playfully complained, "Excuse me, what do I get, huh? Am I invisible?" You rolled your eyes and laughed, moving to hug him as well, "Thank you, Sannie. You're the best, I swear," He grinned, rubbing your back affectionately, "I know." He responded in a cheeky tone.

Meanwhile, Seonghwa seized the moment to get into position. After carefully setting down the cake, he moved to stand behind you, taking his place as he decided it was the perfect time to make his feelings known, "How about me? Do I get a hug too?"

As you turned around, your breath hitched at how close Seonghwa was. Your heart raced, and you noticed the twinkle in his eyes. San discreetly led Eunji to a corner to witness the scene unfold, grinning to himself as he did so.

"Happy birthday." Seonghwa whispered.

Your heart raced, and you thanked him with a smile, the anticipation in the air growing as he gently reached for your hand. The touch sent a shiver down your spine, and you felt that something significant was about to happen.

He looked into your eyes, his gaze unwavering, and said, "There's something important I need to confess tonight." You gulped, your mind racing with possibilities, and nodded slowly. You wondered if this could be the moment you'd secretly dreamed of.

"You know, there used to be a time when I wanted nothing to do with love or romance. I'd sworn off dating for the longest time, wanting to focus only on my job and the kids at work."

Your eyes widened, this was news to you.

He began by sharing a humorous memory from the past, recounting how he'd initially mistaken you for Eunji's mother and the internal turmoil he experienced at the time. He held back his feelings, thinking it was wrong to have a crush on his student's mother. You both laughed about it, and your heart skipped a beat as you began to sense where this conversation was leading.

"I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw you," He shook his head in amusement, "Little did I know you were Eunji's aunt."

You laughed along, "Well, at least now it makes more sense."

As he continued, you listened with bated breath, "But over time, my initial crush evolved into something much deeper, something I couldn't ignore. Watching you, taking care of Eunji, and being so strong throughout it all... It touched my heart." His words stirred your emotions, and you realised that he had feelings for you even then.

He squeezed your hand, his touch reassuring, "I want you to know that you've inspired me, made me want to love again, to have a family of my own, with Eunji as our child."

His confession hung in the air, the weight of his words settling around you both. You took a moment to absorb it all, his vulnerability and sincerity washing over you.

"Seonghwa," You began, your voice soft, "I... I had no idea."

He smiled gently, his thumb caressing the back of your hand, "I didn't want to burden you with my feelings, especially considering everything you've been through."

A rush of emotions swirled within you.

You squeezed his hand, the unspoken understanding between you palpable, "You've been such an amazing friend to us, Seonghwa. You've helped us more than I can put into words."

He nodded, his eyes never leaving yours, "And I want to continue being there for both of you, in whatever capacity you'll have me."

Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes, but they were tears of gratitude, of hope, "Seonghwa, I..." You took a deep breath, gathering your thoughts, "I never imagined this, but... I've come to care for you deeply. You've been a rock for us, and I can't imagine facing all of this without you."

He smiled, his gaze tender, "I feel the same way, perhaps even more."

The sincerity in his eyes overwhelmed you.

This was a turning point, a moment that could change everything. You took a step closer to him, closing the distance between you, "Seonghwa," You whispered, "I would be honoured to have you in our lives, as more than just a friend."

His smile widened, a mixture of relief and joy dancing in his eyes, "You've just made me the happiest man alive."

As you leaned in, he met you halfway, and your lips finally met in a soft, sweet kiss. It felt like a promise, a new beginning. The world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you, connected in this moment of shared vulnerability and newfound love.

But your romantic moment did not last long with San and Eunji skipping out of their hiding spots, singing, "Teacher Hwa and aunty, sitting on a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Their voices immediately made you and Seonghwa pull away, cheeks flushed crimson.

San smirked, "Well, looks like we have another thing to celebrate now, so who wants cake?" Eunji jumped excitedly at the mention of cake, "Me! Me! Me!" Seonghwa chuckled, lacing his fingers with yours before walking up to the two, "Alright then, let's go." You bit your lip, struggling to take your eyes off your intertwined hands, heart swelling in happiness.

The celebration continued with shared laughter. San couldn't resist a final tease, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but it seems like my predictions were spot on. Congratulations, you two."

The future was uncertain, but you were certain that, with Seonghwa's support and love, you could face anything that came your way.

Seonghwa's following day at work was filled with playful jabs and teasing from Joy, who had learned about your newfound relationship from Eunji, your adorable messenger.

While he might have outwardly displayed annoyance, there was a part of him that secretly relished the teasing. It made everything feel more real and solidified, reminding him that he was no longer just your helpful friend and confidant but your boyfriend.

"Hey, remember when you used to say you'd never waste your time on dating?" Seonghwa rolled his eyes for what felt like the hundredth time that day as he packed up after work, Eunji waiting obediently at the playpen for him to go pick you up from work together, "Yes, Joy, I remember. But that was before I—"

She smirked, "Before you met the love of your life?"

He blushed, once again reminded that it might still be too soon to say the L word to you no matter how much he wanted to, he didn't want to pressure you into saying it back to him if you didn't feel the same yet. He would have to find the perfect moment to tell you.

"Yes, Joy, exactly." He chuckled, shaking his head at the playful banter. Joy has always been a close friend, and he appreciated her teasing as a sign that she was genuinely happy for him. He continued to pack his things, a smile playing on his lips.

"I remember all those times I said I'd never date," He admitted, "But I guess life had different plans for me. Meeting her and Eunji... it's like everything I thought I wanted was nothing compared to what I have now. I've never been this content."

She watched him closely, her teasing demeanour giving way to genuine curiosity, "So, what's it like, then? To have someone who's so important to you?"

He sighed, momentarily lost in thought, "It's like having this unwavering support, someone who cares about my day, my dreams, my struggles... It's having someone to share the joys and sorrows with. And with Eunji, it's like having a family, the one I never knew I needed. It's pretty amazing, Joy."

She smiled at him warmly, "I'm so glad you've found it, Hwa. It's beautiful to see how much you've grown and how much love you've discovered."

Seonghwa nodded, grateful for the newfound happiness that entered his life. It was a reminder that sometimes, the unexpected and unconventional paths led to the most fulfilling destinations.

The evening sun cast a warm, golden hue over the scene as you and San exited the office building. There, leaning against his car with an air of casual confidence, stood Seonghwa, a captivating smile on his face. Your heart raced at the sight of him, and you felt incredibly lucky to have him in your life.

Beside him was your niece bouncing around while she waited for you. Eunji's boundless enthusiasm and infectious energy were on full display as she rushed toward you and your colleague, wrapping her little arms around your legs, "Aunty! Uncle Sannie!"

You ruffled her hair lovingly, a radiant smile on your face, "Did you have a good day, Eunji-yah?" You asked, your affection for her shining brightly, "Yes!"

Her ever-doting uncle Sannie picked her up, lifting her high, and she giggled with delight. In the midst of this heartwarming scene, he subtly pushed you toward Seonghwa, who was waiting for you with an expectant look in his eyes.

As you approached him, your gaze was fixated on him, and you couldn't help feeling like a teenager in love.

Your heart fluttered with each step, and without realising it, you missed a step, stumbling slightly on the uneven pavement, your heels causing an issue. But in an instant, your boyfriend's reflexes kicked in, and he rushed forward, his strong arms reaching out to catch you. His hands found your waist and steadied you.

For a heartbeat, your noses bumped gently against each other, and your breaths mingled. The closeness was intoxicating, and your heart raced even faster in response to this unexpected proximity.

"Hi." The two of you whispered at the same time.

Seonghwa's arms encircled you, holding you close in the aftermath of your stumble. The world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you in that tender moment. You looked up into his eyes, your heart pounding in your chest, and in that shared gaze, you found an unspoken connection.

In the background, San playfully covered Eunji's eyes, his voice carrying a comically dramatic tone, "Fear not, young Eunji! I shall shield your innocent eyes from this heartwarming scene of romance!"

Laughter bubbled up from both of you, breaking the spell but only for a moment. Seonghwa's eyes twinkled with affection, and without another word, he leaned in, closing the remaining distance between you. His lips met yours in a sweet, gentle kiss, a promise of the love and care that lay ahead for both of you.

It was a kiss filled with tenderness and the unspoken promise of a future together. The world seemed to stand still, allowing you to savour the moment, etching it into your memory.

When you eventually pulled away, a soft smile graced your boyfriend's lips, his thumb gently brushing against your cheek. There was a warmth in his eyes, a silent reassurance that you were exactly where you were meant to be.

As you both turned to look at Eunji and San, you found them engaged in a playful debate about whether or not it was time for ice cream. It was a perfect tableau of the life you were now building together—a little messy, a lot of love, and filled with joy.

In that moment, you knew you were exactly where you belonged, in the arms of the man who has become your rock, and surrounded by the love of your little family.

In the few months that you'd been with Seonghwa, you marvelled at what a sweet and thoughtful boyfriend he was. He embraced his role as a partner and father figure with open arms, and it showed in the way he cared for you and Eunji.

Seonghwa was a master of small gestures.

Whether it was a good morning text, a surprise lunch he'd prepared and dropped off at your office, or a cosy movie night he'd set up for you and Eunji, he knew how to make you feel loved. His actions spoke louder than words, a testament to his caring and attentive nature.

You couldn't remember when it began, but you and your niece have been staying over at his place frequently lately. So frequent to the point that your own studio apartment felt like a hotel that you'd only return to once in a while.

On the days when you both stayed over, his morning routine included preparing breakfast for you and Eunji, a tradition that quickly became a heartwarming ritual.

You'd wake up to the smell of pancakes or fresh fruit salad, and your niece couldn't contain her excitement when it was a pancake morning. His culinary skills were a surprise to you, but he enjoyed whipping up dishes that made you both smile.

Seonghwa has become the perfect family man.

He'd do the grocery shopping, subtly watch over Eunji in kindergarten without neglecting the other kids, and even help her with her homework. His patience knew no bounds as he explained math problems for what seemed like the hundredth time.

On weekends, you'd all go for picnics, trips to the zoo, or simply have a quiet day at home. You could feel his love in the way he held your hand, kissed your forehead, and smiled at Eunji's jokes. His affection was a warm embrace that wrapped around both of you, making your little family feel complete.

It was his sharp and observant eyes that amazed you the most. He noticed when you were tired or had a rough day, and he'd be there with a comforting hug or a listening ear. He was the first to recognise when Eunji needed a little extra attention or when she was hiding a scraped knee under her dress.

You loved how attentive and observant your boyfriend was, but there was a part of your life that you desperately wished he would be less perceptive about. It was the financial struggles you'd been trying to hide from him for some time.

As the months passed, you managed to pay off the bills for your car maintenance and finally got it serviced, but it came at a price. Sacrificing your budget for that left you unable to afford your rent and credit card debt. Most of the credit card expenses have been related to Eunji and her needs – kids' things were indeed expensive, and you'd always put her first.

One day, while you were at Seonghwa's place with Eunji, you received a text from your landlady, and dread settled in your stomach. She demanded that you return home to speak with her, which was unusual. You quickly thought up an excuse to tell Seonghwa, explaining that you had to run somewhere quickly.

He looked concerned, sensing that something was amiss, and his worry for you was evident in his eyes.

After you left, he couldn't resist the nagging feeling that something wasn't quite right. He decided to check your backpack, where you kept your clothes and necessities for staying the night. That's when he discovered your unpaid bills, debt statements, and financial struggles laid bare before him.

He cursed himself for not realising the extent of your financial difficulties sooner. The truth hit him like a punch to the gut. You were still struggling, and he couldn't stand by and let you bear that burden alone.

Your heart dropped like a stone the moment you arrived home. There, you found all your belongings packed up in boxes, scattered messily outside of your unit, "W-what's the meaning of this, Mrs. Lee?"

The landlady stood in the centre of the chaos, her hands propped on her hips, a furious look on her face. She didn't waste any time expressing her anger, "Are you really asking me that?" She scoffed, "You didn't pay rent for two months. Did you think I was going to let you leech off me like that?"

You were in a state of panic, rushing up to her, your eyes darting around to take in the disarray. You began to explain your situation, your voice trembling, "But you said you understood when I told you I've been saving up to pay you all at once by the end of this month. You know my niece and I—"

She sighed, lifting a hand to stop you.

"Enough with the pity party. You always use the kid as an excuse. I've had it. I've already found a new tenant who will pay more than you. They're moving in tomorrow. So, take your things and leave."

You dropped to your knees in desperation, pleading with her not to do this, your voice quivering.

It was at this moment that Seonghwa arrived with Eunji in his arms. His eyes widened in shock as he took in the scene, and his expression quickly shifted from surprise to anger as he overheard the last cruel sentence uttered by the landlady.

With his nostrils flaring in anger, he marched up to you and gently helped you up from the ground, all while maintaining his composure for the child's sake. Then, he handed Eunji over to you.

Your niece quickly reached up to wipe away your tears with her tiny hands. She asked you not to cry, and you sniffled in response, trying to assure her that everything would be okay.

Meanwhile, Seonghwa turned to confront the landlady.

His voice was firm but never raised, "Mrs. Lee," He began, "I understand that there have been issues with rent, but it's crucial to remember the legal obligations here. Regardless of the situation, you must provide proper notice and follow due process for eviction."

She seemed taken aback by his confidence and knowledge, "Well, I didn't know that, but I've already found someone else willing to pay more for the unit. I can't just let her stay here."

Seonghwa remained unwavering, "I'm not suggesting that you should let the situation continue as it is, but there's a proper way to go about this. You can't just throw them out onto the street. They need time to find a new place."

He continued, "If you follow the right procedures, both parties can come to a mutually agreeable solution without any legal issues. Trust me; I know a thing or two about these matters."

The landlady hesitated, realising that your boyfriend was not to be underestimated, "Well," She muttered, "I didn't know about all that. I'll give you a week to sort things out, but that's it. The new tenant is moving in after that."

He nodded, his demeanour still steady, "Thank you, Mrs. Lee. I'm sure we can come to an arrangement within the given time frame."

You glanced at Seonghwa with gratitude in your eyes, knowing that he just bought you some valuable time to find a new place to live without the immediate pressure of eviction.

As he helped you carry your belongings back into the unit, you couldn't bear to look him in the eye. You felt ashamed and overwhelmed by your financial struggles. He knew something was wrong when you turned your gaze away from him, he sighed and gathered you into his arms.

It was the comforting, secure embrace you needed, and it didn't take long for your tears to start flowing against his shoulder. He gently pressed your head into the crook of his neck, his warm breath caressing your ear.

"Why didn't you tell me you were struggling so much financially?" He whispered softly, his heart aching as he held you.

You sobbed and pulled away slightly, your tear-streaked face revealing your vulnerability, "I'm sorry, Hwa," You choked out, "I didn't mean to hide things from you, but I really didn't want to burden you any more than I already have."

Seonghwa shook his head and cupped your tear-stained cheeks, looking into your eyes with genuine concern, "Listen to me," He said, his voice firm yet tender, "You are not a burden. I'm willing to do anything, including providing for you and Eunji. I want you to come to me for help anytime you need it, you hear me?"

Your heart swelled with emotion, and you bit your trembling lip, tears trickling out the sides of your eyes as you nodded slowly.

After you've calmed down, the two of you settled on your bed. Eunji was taking a little nap, giving you both a moment of privacy. You sat there, staring at the boxes of your belongings and feeling overwhelmed by the uncertainty of your future.

"What am I going to do?" You whispered, the weight of your situation pressing down on you.

Your boyfriend reached for your hand and gently squeezed it, "Move in with me... for good." He said with a calm tone.

You snapped your head up to meet his gaze, searching for any signs of reluctance. But all you found in his eyes was sincerity and an earnest desire to share his life with you and your niece. He leaned in, his thumb brushing your knuckles before he brought your hand to his lips and placed a tender kiss on it.

"Please," He implored, "Let me be there for you. It's why I'm here. You and Eunji, you're my everything now, and I can't possibly sit around while you're struggling. Let me take care of you."

A lump formed in your throat as you shifted closer to him, your hand moving to cup his cheek. You croaked out, "I love you, Hwa," His heart melted at your words, and he chuckled tearfully, his eyes filled with affection. He had longed to hear those three words from you, "So, is that a yes?"

You nodded, and you sealed your decision with a gentle kiss. As you pulled away slightly, he couldn't help expressing his love for you, "I love you too, so much that it drives me crazy."

A week later, you and Seonghwa stood side by side in his apartment, gazing around the transformed living space with pride. The place had undergone a subtle but significant makeover, and now it felt more like a warm and welcoming family home.

The interior had brightened considerably, with cheerful colours and playful decorations that were clearly chosen with Eunji in mind. A colourful toy box stood in one corner, overflowing with stuffed animals and games. The walls were adorned with the child's artwork, showcasing her creativity and vibrant imagination.

Your boyfriend has been more than accommodating, allowing both you and Eunji to have a say in how the place was decorated. It was a collaborative effort that turned the apartment into a reflection of your shared love.

He made it clear that he would have been content even if the place had been transformed into a Barbie-themed wonderland.

All that truly mattered was being with you and Eunji.

"Tadaaa~"

Eunji's squeals filled the room as you removed your hands from covering her eyes. She darted around the apartment, pointing out everything that caught her attention. Her infectious excitement made your hearts swell with happiness as she skipped from one corner to another, exploring her new home.

Seonghwa stood beside you, a contented smile gracing his face as he watched your niece's enthusiasm.

Her presence and the shared sense of belonging in this new place filled him with a profound sense of fulfilment. This was not just an apartment; it was a home, a place where your love and family could grow and flourish.

The next day in kindergarten, Eunji's excitement was infectious as she rushed around, handing out invitations to her friends and her beloved second-favourite teacher, Joy. The little ones received their invites with wide eyes and giggles, their youthful enthusiasm matching your niece's.

"Ooh, what's this?" Joy's curiosity got the better of her, and she couldn't resist opening the invitation right there.

Her initial surprise at receiving an invitation turned into a warm smile when she realised it was for your housewarming party. She found it amusing that you were celebrating in such a manner, considering it wasn't a new house but rather a symbol of the new life you, Seonghwa, and Eunji were embarking on together.

She couldn't contain her excitement as she approached Seonghwa with the invitation in hand. Her teasing tone laced with affection, "Why is it that I always have to learn these things from Eunji and not you?"

He rolled his eyes good-naturedly and chuckled, a hint of playfulness in his response, "This is exactly why. You never let me live."

She burst out laughing before getting a little more serious, "Alright, fine. I'll let you off just this once. Can I bring my boyfriend, though?" She asked, her expression eager.

Seonghwa's eyes softened, and he nodded warmly, "Of course, Joy. I'd love to finally meet the poor soul that has to endure you for the rest of his life."

She mockingly smacked his arm, feigning offence, "Yah, Park Seonghwa! I take it back, you'll suffer today."

Meanwhile, your workplace held its own share of celebrations as you handed an invitation to San, your dear friend and colleague. A broad grin stretched across his face as he read the invitation, and he threw an arm over your shoulder, playfully teasing, "Aww, I'm so proud of you, bestie. Look at you, all grown up already."

You wriggled out of his embrace before he had a chance to mess up your hair, retorting, "San, I'm literally older than you."

With a shrug, he quipped, "Does it matter? You'll always be my little baby," He playfully pouted, attempting to look pitiable. But before you could respond, your manager interrupted the exchange with a loud clearing of her throat and a disapproving glare directed at him, "Choi San, this is your last warning," He immediately straightened up and saluted, "Yes, ma'am."

As soon as your manager moved away, he couldn't resist a cheeky comment, "I'm telling you, she has the hots for me," You rolled your eyes and playfully smacked him, "You're ridiculous. If we get fired someday, I'm blaming you."

The weekend had arrived, and your housewarming party was just hours away.

Your heart swelled with happiness as you watched Seonghwa twirl Eunji around the living room. Your niece, dressed in her new Elsa costume, giggled with delight, her laughter filling the room.

While the two of them enjoyed their cute little dance, you were in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches on the food spread. The aroma of homemade dishes wafted through the air, making the atmosphere feel even more inviting.

The excitement was palpable as you glanced around the room, taking in the decorations, the array of snacks, and the cosy ambience you worked hard to create. Everything was ready, and you couldn't wait for your friends to arrive, celebrating not just a new house, but a new chapter in your life with Seonghwa and Eunji.

One by one, the guests arrived.

The first to arrive were Joy and her boyfriend, Hyoseob. You greeted them with a warm smile, "Oh Joy, I'm so happy you could make it!" She beamed in response, giving you a hug, "Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Seonghwa, always quick with a teasing remark, couldn't resist the chance to rib Joy about her relationship, "Ah, you must be the famous Shin Hyoseob. Just so you know, Joy never shuts up about you, like ever." This was his chance to get her back for all the times she's relentlessly tormented him about your relationship at work.

Not long after, San arrived, and he immediately scooped up Eunji in his arms, causing her to giggle with delight.

He joined the group, and you introduced him to your boyfriend's colleague. As predicted by Seonghwa, San and Joy hit it off right away, chatting and laughing as if they'd been friends for years.

Soon, Eunji's friends began to arrive one by one, and the house filled with laughter and the joyful chaos of children running about. You would have panicked had it not been for Seonghwa and Joy's expertise in having so many kids under control, the two of them kept a constant watchful eye to ensure they didn't cause any trouble.

The party was now in full swing, and it was a heartwarming sight to see everyone come together to celebrate this special day with you and your little family.

As you sat with the adults at the dining table, your attention kept drifting to your niece, who was happily playing with her friends in the living room.

A bittersweet ache tugged at your heart as you thought about your sister and how she would feel about the life you've created for her daughter. You wondered if she was looking down on you, proud of the strength you'd shown and the love you'd poured into raising Eunji after her passing.

Just a year ago, if someone told you that your life would be this full of love and happiness, you might have thought them delusional.

But now, surrounded by all the people you loved, you felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Your life was filled with friends who had become like family, a beautiful niece who brought joy into your world, and a man who had become your partner in this journey.

Seonghwa noticed your silence and the distant look in your eyes. He slid his hand into yours, capturing your attention as you turned to look at him, "You okay?" He asked, concern evident in his eyes. To you, he felt like a guardian angel, sent by your sister to protect you and bring happiness into your life.

You nodded and offered a small smile, "I'm fine."

He wasn't entirely convinced, but he smiled back at you and leaned in to place a gentle peck on your temple. His affectionate gesture didn't go unnoticed by your friends, who couldn't resist teasing you both, causing your cheeks to flush with a lovely shade of embarrassment.

As the party came to an end and the last of the guests had left, you began the routine of settling your niece for the night. After a warm, relaxing shower, you tucked her into bed.

Eunji grinned up at you, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "Aunty, that was the bestest party ever!" She exclaimed. You chuckled, leaning in closer to her, "Really? Are you happy?" She nodded enthusiastically, her little face glowing with happiness, "Yes, I love it very, very much!" You gently stroked her cheek and gazed at her lovingly, "And I love you very, very much."

Unbeknownst to you, Seonghwa had been quietly watching the interaction between you two from the room's entrance. His heart never failed to flutter every time he witnessed the bond between you and your niece.

Eunji let out a huge yawn, and you patted her stomach, indicating it was time for bed, "All right, off to bed with you."

The child giggled and nodded, snuggling under her blanket, "Goodnight, aunty. I love you very, very much too."

Hearing those words from her, even though she has said them many times before, touched your heart in a different way. You leaned down, brushing a soft kiss on her forehead, "Goodnight, sweetheart. I love you more." Your words held the promise of endless love and protection, and Eunji drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face.

Later that night, as you finished up your skincare routine in your shared room, Seonghwa approached you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he rested his chin on your shoulder. His concern was evident in his voice as he spoke, "Are you alright, love?"

You smiled, appreciating how well he knew you. Pulling off your face mask and tossing it aside, you turned to face him.

"Nothing ever goes past you, huh?"

Your boyfriend shook his head, his eyes filled with understanding and affection, "Nope, not when it comes to you, you know that," You wrapped your arms around his neck, deciding to open up about what has been on your mind, "I thought about my sister a lot today."

He tightened his embrace, knowing that this was a sensitive and emotional topic for you, "I was thinking about how she'd feel if she could see where her daughter is today and if she'd be proud of me."

Moving one hand to cup your face, he spoke, "I don't need to be your sister to know that she would be so proud of you. There's no one else who could love and care for her daughter more than you." You felt your heart swell with love for the amazing man who stood before you.

As you chuckled and nuzzled into his touch, you playfully admitted, "I was also convinced that you're my guardian angel sent by her."

Seonghwa grinned, maintaining the playful tone, "Aw man, that was our secret. How did you find out?"

Your laughter filled the room, and he watched you with adoration. Once you've calmed down, you whispered, "I love you so much, Hwa. I can't believe you're really mine," He leaned in closer, his eyes filled with warmth and affection, "Well, you better believe it because I love you even more."

With those sweet words, he pressed his lips firmly onto yours, sealing your love and commitment to each other. In that tender moment, you both knew that you'd found something truly special in each other, something that would last a lifetime.

One Day At A Time

Am I the only one who thinks Seonghwa is literally husband material? I doubt it but good GOD, does this man make me yearn for marriage and motherhood. Y'all know I'm lying to myself when I say I'm not a whole ass simp for him.

Hope y'all enjoyed and as always, would love to hear all your thoughts on the story, so feel free to leave as many replies as you want! <3

Flat 2.

As in, the accommodation between flats one and three.

As in, the residence opposite yours.

As in, the living space occupied by him.

You’d had a good day, up until this point. Work had been relatively peaceful, save for that one particularly stubborn customer that simply couldn’t grasp the concept of needing proof of purchase for a refund.

You suppose that in this moment, you know how that customer had felt. Looking down at the neatly strung brown paper parcel in your hands, you’re confused, concerned, and more than a little annoyed.

The label on the box reads, stark and clear, ‘Copper Court, Flat 2’. Yet here you are, having retrieved it from your pigeon hole; and your pigeon hole most certainly isn’t labelled ‘Flat 2’.

Your first thought is to shove the parcel in his pigeon hole, and you would, were it not already stuffed full to the brim with letters and magazines, spam leaflets from the local takeaway offering twenty percent off pizzas on a Tuesday.

A good neighbour would just take it up to Flat 2. A good neighbour would empty the pigeon hole of its current postal nightmare and take that up too, hand delivering it with a smile.

But here’s the thing.
