in terms of the actual show stan is a representation of the average-relatable-all-american-boy coming of age and dealing with the world, which is why he most frequently deals with complicated realities centered around growing up (You’re Getting Old comes to mind.) he’s the viewer insert which does require that he be very “default” in his social identity (straight, white, cis, etc) HOWEVER. awareness toward one’s potential queerness is becoming more and more normalized in young people AND there is one very specific, harrowing experience that a staggering number of queer kids have growing up which would warrant an exploration of it in-series if they were to hypothetically deal with such a phenomenon where . im sorry im rambling My point is it would not be outside the realm of possibility for stan’s character or for the show’s themes if stan were to cope with a devastating and seemingly-one-sided crush on his best friend. just really highlight the #experience. i’m not delusional enough to think style will ever be canon but by god i’d be so fascinated to see how they’d handle it

Anyways I was gonna write a fic about this, but I was too lazy (I’m starting to notice I just draw all the fanfic ideas I have that fall through…). I MIGHT still write a one shot with this premise tho…
Basically—because I know the masses are asking…—Stan and Kyle are college aged, go to the same university, and are also childhood best friends. Stan was bitten by a radioactive drill or something and now has tool-powers, and thinks ‘I can’t put Kyle in danger blah blah blah—I have to keep this a secret!’ He, accidentally, gains unfounded popularity via his superhero escapades, but at least he’s able to be just Stan in his private life.
Unfortunately for him, Marjorine isn’t an idiot, is a supervillain, AND also close friends with both Kyle and Stan. With the help of her boyfriend (who is also her known arch-nemesis), Kenny, she plans to set them up. At first she tried to do this without the help of her secret identity, but once she overhears Kyle calling Toolshed ‘a catch’ she decides this is a case for Professor Chaos to solve.
This takes us to the present day, Kyle has been tied up for the 5th time this week, waiting for Toolshed to swoop in and save him. While an inkling of concern about why the same villain keeps kidnapping him crosses his mind, Kyle is just happy to get to chat with his ‘idol’ for a few minutes afterwards.
TLDR; They’re OBLIVIOUS.

He literally seems like the type to have his Mr Prince Charming moment when he’s galloping on his mighty steed (sparky ofc) through the kingdom and causing the young residents to swoon at the sight of him when in reality he’s trying to get to the castle as soon as possible just to see his beloved the king!
i LOVE SOT aus i feel like we need more of them but specifically domestic fics which gives insight into the actual kingdom and what’s its like. Also gives us a chance to stop putting poor Kyle through the whump wringer lmao rip hurt/comfort style but it’s just Kyle stressing himself into a coma fr

Do you ever think about how CANONICALLY Stan just absolutely loses his shit when Kyle isn’t okay? Like, Stanley Down Bad Marsh DRAGGED HIS HOSPITAL BED AND MONITOR to Cartmanland to save his life. When Cartman reported Kyle’s family as illegal immigrants and gotten him taken away, Stan listed not being able to see him as one of the main reasons for writing his angsty Crimson Dawn music. When Kyle almost died of kidney failure Stan SOBBED THE ENTIRE EPISODE and tried to ACTUALLY steal Cartman’s kidney in his sleep because he COULD NOT LOSE KYLE.
