Doctor, You Cant Be Suggesting A Mission Of This Importance Be Trusted To A Major. And One With A Questionable

Doctor, you can’t be suggesting a mission of this importance be trusted to a Major. And one with a questionable record at that.

STARGATE ATLANTIS: GATEWAYS COMIC BOOK GIVEAWAY!

I was organizing my comics today and found that I had two complete sets of all the covers for the 3-issue Stargate Atlantis: Gateways run so I’m going to give one set away!

There will be three winners. The winner will be able to choose between the main covers, the photo covers and the subscription covers. The first runner-up will choose from the remaining two and then the second runner-up gets the remaining set. (Sorry the pictures are so crappy.)

The rules are easy peasy.

You have to reblog this. Likes are lovely but won’t count in the giveaway.

You can reblog as many times as you want.

You don’t have to be following me. You’ll probably be happier in the long run if you don’t.

Oh, and you have to be willing to give me your real name and mailing address. I’m happy to send them anywhere in the world.

The giveaway closes at midnight (Pacific) on March 31st and the winner will be chosen by a random number generator.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. So if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Ooooh fic prompts! What do you think of 48. Rampage, with Ronon and Sheppard from SGA (not a ship, I like their relationship as it is :) ). Angsty, preferably ;) like Ronon goes on a rampage after something happens to Sheppard maybe 🤔🥺

Thanks in advance :D

*screeching* *sounds of a chair breaking somewhere* COME IN COME IN OH MY A  C U S T O M E R

Thank you so much for the prompt!! I hope you enjoy this!

The one time the jumper had dropped them off at a previous suspected uninhabited area of the planet—the one time—they had to run into an angry mob of villagers who, after a few questions that in hindsight could have been phrased a bit better, mistakened them for Wraith worshipers—oh, and they had guns.

Ronon and John had made it into a small clearing after calling for the jumper to come back, and held their ground relatively well before... somehow, Ronon knew what was about to happen before it did. Maybe it was because he had been half-anticipating it ever since John had been forced to ditch his bulletproof vest after it got caught in a trap—but despite this, he hadn’t fully considered it could actually happen. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw one of the mob take aim and pull a trigger.

“Sheppard!” he yelled, running toward the other man as fast as he could. He wasn’t fast enough. Even after years and years and years of running, he was fast enough. It happened almost in a slowed way, like the action movies that John was obsessed with—in a way, it was sickeningly ironic. He watched in horror as the bullet pierced his chest and John stumbled back at the impact, before collapsing to his knees, a stunned look on his face. The world sped up again and Ronon grabbed him and ran for cover, sitting him up behind a rock. The blood had already started soaking the front of John’s shirt, slick on his hands, marking everything with red. John choked back a cough as his breath stuttered, his hands scrambling against his chest in an attempt to stop the bleeding, stop the pain, anything. Ronon replaced John’s hands on the wound and muttered an apology as John hissed at the pressure. If John noticed that his hands were shaking, he said nothing. They both flinched as a new round of attack started up.

“Can’t they stop for a damn minute?” John groaned. Ronon glanced up nervously as the gunfire moved closer. John coughed again, his eyes squeezing shut against the pain, and blood dripped down his chin. He wiped it away with the back of his hand, but when he tried to breathe in there was a sickening rattling sound, and he couldn’t prevent another cough. The gunfire kept getting nearer and nearer. Bullets were ricocheting off of the rock. Ronon could hear their whoops of celebration that they had hit one, their cries of “let’s finish him off!”—not on his life—and something inside of him snapped, releasing a roar that was more animal than human. John jumped at the sound but Ronon paid him no heed, grabbing his gun and leaping out from behind their cover. His vision was tainted with red, and blood rushed past his ears as he shot down man after man, unwilling and unable to show any mercy. Those that ventured too close to him were quickly disposed of by his blade. His only thoughts were to protect John, and to make them pay for what they did to him, for taking joy in what they did to him. Bodies were soon strewn around the field; each one injured, dead, or dying. He stood in the middle of it all, breathing hard, his nostrils flaring and a wild look in his eye as he survived his work. A branch cracked and he whipped his gun around, almost pulling the trigger and shooting Teyla.

“It is just me!” she yelled. Ronon hesitated before lowering his weapon. Teyla swept her eyes around the field, then back to Ronon, her expression changing to something almost similar to fear.

“What did you do?” she asked. Ronon shook his head, running back to the rock where John was safely hidden. His stomach dropped as he saw that John’s eyes were closed.

“He’s—he’s not awake anymore,” he said, fear clawing at his throat and nearly throttling the words before they made it out. Teyla nodded, her brow creasing in a worried frown.

“Bring him this way, quickly!” she ordered. Ronon scooped his friend up as gently as possible, hurrying after Teyla. She led him to the jumper in a nearby clearing, and they quickly loaded up and headed to the gate.

“We’re ten minutes out, do you think he can make it that long?” the pilot asked. Ronon didn’t recognize him, but allowed him receive the full force of his glare at the fact that he would even suggest such a thing; but as the pilot shrank back in his chair, the fear of the situation pummeled at Ronon’s mind. He slid down the wall, cradling his friend protectively, a childlike superstition deep inside that it would be somehow enough to protect John from the clutches of death. Teyla passed him some pads and he automatically pressed them to the hole in John’s chest, the wheezing breaths both alarming and comforting him. Every second was too long, but yet somehow Ronon wasn’t quite sure exactly when the had reached Atlantis—suddenly it was too loud, too bright, too many hands pulling and grabbing for John—he growled, wrapping himself tighter around his friend.

“It’s alright, lad, we’re here to help him,” he heard someone say urgently. Beckett. He released John’s limp body instantly and it was carted away in the blink of an eye. He watched them leave, a hollow feeling inside of him. All he could smell was the blood. It coated his hands, his shirt—he wasn’t even sure how much of it was John’s, and how much was from... from... he dropped his head, his mind reeling as he remembered his rampage, how each of the bodies dropped to the ground—it had just been a misunderstanding on their part—how many had been innocent?

“Ronon?” Teyla asked carefully, crouching in front of him. He glanced at her for only a moment before looking back down, unable to meet her eyes. “I... I will have to make a report,” she said gently, “I do not know what Dr. Weir will say, but I know that you acted in self-defense.” But did he? He stood abruptly, stalking out of the jumper.

After cleaning himself up—there was so much blood—he resolutely parked himself in a chair by John’s bedside, despite being told he probably wouldn’t wake for a few hours. The image of his bloodied and limp body refused to leave him, and he took comfort in watching the rise and fall of John’s chest, in hearing the steady beeping of the machines that told him his friend was still alive. Dr. Weir stopped by to let him know she had received Teyla’s report; she consented that it had been a matter of self-defense, but he saw the same unease behind her eyes that had been in Teyla’s, and they both knew it had been something more than just self-defense. Grimly, Ronon resigned himself to that fact—but as he watched John resting peacefully in the hospital bed, he knew he would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

After the worst day of his life since returning from Pegasus, Rodney McKay assumes his current nightmare come true is his interview on Hear Our Stars Talk that made people question his sanity, as well as his past intentions with a certain high-ranking official in Atlantis. It's therefore too late when he realizes that trouble with the gate that preceded the interview caused much more harm than he suspected.

Soon, he finds himself wishing all his problems could be solved by John offering him to stay with him as long as he needs. If only it were that simple. Here's the thing; in order to heal from the damage his own insecurities and a wily radioactive alien life form consuming him from the inside have done, instead of bittersweet promises of eternal platonic buddyship, he needs John Sheppard to finally kiss him.

Prettier than the Sunset

Carson Beckett x gn!reader

Summary: you and Carson like each other a lot, and the both of you (ironically) pick the same time to say anything.

Trigger Warnings: fluff, that's about it.

A/N: I'm not very good at writing accents, so Carson's dialogue is gonna look pretty normal.

Also, it's kind of short. Hope you all enjoy it.

××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××

Sheppard and McKay were just sitting down for a light dinner when Carson walked in to the cafeteria towards them, looking like a nervous wreck.

"Have either of you two seen Y/N? I want to ask them something," he sounded anxious beyond belief.

"No, not since early this morning. Are you ok?" McKay looked at the doc before catching Sheppard smirking out of the corner of his eye. "Why are you smirking like that?"

"Our dear friend Beckett here has a crush on Y/N. Try asking Ronan where they are. I think I saw them talking to him around lunchtime," Sheppard gave Carson a smile before digging into his food.

××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××

Ronan was in the gym, training with a practice dummy. The sound of the doors opening along with a soft knock on the wall turned his attention away from training towards Beckett. "Can this wait a minute?"

"I just wanted to ask if you know where Y/N might be. I had asked Sheppard a little while ago and he said to come to you," Carson gulped, trying to collect his nerves.

"Yeah, they were wondering if I had any idea where a nice quiet spot around here would be. Told them that Teyla likes to go out to one of the balconies from time to time, so they could try that. You finally asking them out?" he asked bluntly.

"I might be," Carson managed to stutter.

"Good luck finding them," Ronan said before turning his attention back to the dummy.

×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××

Just like Ronan thought, you were taking in the peace and quiet of one of the balconies. The view made for a wonderful scene to capture in a drawing. Early that morning, you decided today of all days would be the day you finally told Carson how you felt. Little did you realize he was planning the exact same thing.

You had just finished packing up your colored pencils when you heard the door open. You quickly held your sketchbook behind your back and faced a slightly confused looking Carson. "Hi, Carson," a small bit of blush rose in your cheeks.

"I can see why you came to this balcony. The view is amazing," Carson walked over to you. His cheeks had to started to get a little red as he faced the sunset.

It was silent for a few moments before either of you said anything. "Do you want to -," both you started saying in unison.

"You go first," you chuckled.

"No, it's alright. You can go first," Carson grinned.

"By the sounds of it, we were going to say the same thing."

"Do you want to have dinner with me?" He gave her a shy smile.

"Certainly," you smiled widely as you handed him the picture that had been held behind your back this entire time. It was of the sunset.

"This is fantastic. It's just as pretty as the real thing. Certainly not as pretty as the artist who drew it, though," his compliment made your cheeks turn bright red. He took your hand in his with a grin as you both went to the cafeteria for some food.

Something's Up At Dinner

Shawn the Wraith

Trigger Warnings: none really

A/N: I had an interesting time writing this. Went with they/them pronouns. Apologies to the requester for taking so long; life has decided to make me a bit busy and give me a good dose of writer's block.

×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××

Dinner seemed to blur together. Shawn wasn't sure what to make of it or them. His mind was drawn towards Y/N, only partly paying attention to what was being discussed. They seemed to be rather calm around the wraith. No worry in the world it appeared. Just casually listening to the conversation.

It was what happened after dinner that caused Shawn to become more and more baffled. Y/N was straight up playing in the grass! Of all the brief civil interactions with humanity he's had, never has he gotten to witness a human take in their environment like this. Something pulled him to them to figure this out.

"What exactly are you doing?"

"What does it look like I'm doing?"

"Acting like a carefree child in the grass?"

"This is my first time off-world in which I don't feel in danger."

"I doubt very much that your team agrees with your sentiment."

"It's not exactly like I can really explain why, I just do. Have you ever had that sort of feeling?"

"No," Shawn said flatly.

All of a sudden, Y/N stood up, "I can't believe I'm admitting this, but your chin whiskers are cute. Kind of remind me of this adorable breed of fish we have back on Earth called a koi fish. I absolutely adore them!"

Shawn stood there stunned. Out of nowhere, his heart felt as if it was beating a little faster and he was having butterflies in his stomach. "What a weird reaction considering I have no idea whether this human was being serious?" He thought to himself. As Y/N walked away, he didn't realize he was holding in his breath.

The End

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I hope this is alright. I've literally been trying to figure out how to write this fic for weeks.

This explains it all. My heart weeps and laughs. Could not have said it better. Everything is true.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

On July 16th, 2004, the pilot aired. Here's a handy little primer for anyone who doesn't know what the heckity heck this show is about. Everything is totally accurate, 100% true and very, very serious.

So.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

This is the lost city of the Ancients, Atlantis, in the Pegasus galaxy, about 3 million light years from Earth. (The Ancients can go fuck themselves. Long story.) Atlantis is a city/spaceship approximately the size of Manhattan. She's semi-sentient, but not really, except actually yes, maybe, sometimes, totally. The whole city can go underwater or into hyperspace. Loves her humans. Home. Declaration of independence imminent.

The Atlantis expedition consists of civilians and military from at least 34 countries (in later seasons, the original expedition was just over a dozen). In no particular order:

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Dr. Elizabeth Weir. The first leader of the expedition. The only adult. Sometimes. Okay, not very often. Is not above a little war crime for the good of the galaxy—or at least, for the good of Atlantis. Left a boyfriend and a dog on Earth, but we all miss the dog more than the boyfriend. Eats UN representatives for breakfast. Is terribly awkward on dates and really good at solitaire. Loves her chaos children. Which are:

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Lt. Colonel Suicide Mission John Sheppard. Walked through the Gate and Atlantis said, "dibs". Thinks people who don't want to fly are crazy. Not good with emotional stuff. (He's getting better.) Loves his found space family and would die for them, often literally. Stop that. Also loves Ferris wheels, things that go fast, and Rodney McKay. And no, we don't know how he gets his hair to go like that.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Dr. Meredith Rodney McKay. Four degrees, two of which are PhDs, none of which are in social skills. Smartest man in two galaxies. Used to be an asshole, but got himself some friends who loved him such a stupid amount that he had no choice but to change. Still a work in progress. We love to see it. Blew up three quarters five sixths of a solar system. (It was uninhabited.) (Mostly.) Deathly allergic to citrus. Loves fully charged ZPMs, arguing with Dr. Zelenka, MREs, and John Sheppard.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Lieutenant Aiden Ford. Went ass first through the Gate with a grin and a whoop on his very first trip. One of the youngest members of the expedition. Is not allowed to name anything, ever. Mild case of hero worship when it comes to his commanding officer, which is totally understandable. A cautionary tale of how addiction messes up not only you, but the people around you.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Ronon Dex. Used to be hunted by the Wraith, lost his people in a terrible war, and is now a member of Sheppard's team where he gets to shoot things and beat up bad guys. Doesn't talk much, but when he does, he has something to say. Good friend. Excellent hugs, but have Carson check you out for any cracked ribs after. Is one bottle of Athosian wine away from staging an intervention regarding the Sheppard/McKay situation.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Teyla Emmagan. In possession of the team's one brain cell. Leader of the Athosian people. Will rock a baby to sleep and then go outside where a Wraith is dangling from the highest tower of the city and stomp on his hands until he falls 800 feet. Can either beat you up in the gym or force you to meditate on your problem, your choice. Has the aforementioned bottle of wine ready and loaded.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Dr. Radek Zelenka. Keeps the science team sane because Rodney sure as hell doesn't. Loves pigeons, cursing in Czech, and overseeing the thriving black market underground economy that has developed in the city. (Thanks @shaddyr for that lovely headcanon). Zachránil všechny naše zadky víc než jednou.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Chuck the Technician. Aggressively Canadian. Doesn't have a last name, doesn't need one. Is ALWAYS in the control room, seriously man, when do you sleep? Reads trashy sci fi novels on night shifts and organized a betting pool in 5 different currencies when Ronon was fighting Teal'c. Needs to share his eyelash routine because we're jealous.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Dr. Carson Beckett. The most Scottish Scot to ever Scot. Brilliant medical doctor who is not above the occasional unethical unorthodox treatment method. Sweet cinnamon roll of a man. Beloved by all. Loves his mom and wee baby turtles. Someone should take him fishing soon. 🥹

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Colonel Samantha Carter. Member of SG-1. Legend. Awesome. Boss. Absolute BAMF. Punched a Goa'uld system lord in the face once. We all have a crush on her.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Dr. Jennifer Keller. Is very doctor-y, for better and for worse. Was all of us when she freaked out being on an alien planet for the first time, like a normal person would. Should totally have gone on a date with Captain Vega in that one deleted scene. [WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAALL]

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Jeannie Miller. Rodney's sister. Gave up a career in science to be a mom. Solved Rodney's math problem in her spare time, with finger paints. Loves her brother even when he's being an idiot. Fanfic canon says: her house is always open for him and certain Air Force Colonels to crash in. Don't you dare get a hotel room. Yes, the guest room has Only One Bed, Mer, what's your point?

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Major Evan Lorne. If you are a moron and get yourself captured and imprisoned off world, he will swing by real quick with a couple Marines and bust you out. Co-parents Atlantis with Dr. Weir. Is actually a really talented painter. Needs a raise, a holiday, and a drink.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Colonel Steven Caldwell. Grumpy. Has to deal with Elizabeth's chaos children on a regular basis. Will make the enemy ship go away with a big boom and save your sorry ass in space. AGAIN.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

Richard Woolsey. Used to be a New York City lawyer, one of the most ruthless creatures in the universe. His wife got the Yorkie in the divorce. Broke his heart. Is actually pretty cool if you let him do his thing (like get you out of an intergalactic war crimes trial by bribing the judges).

I know some characters and all the villains are missing, but this post is already longer than a trip on the Daedalus, so there you have it.

Stargate Atlantis. A show about wormholes, life-sucking aliens, ancient civilisations, space battles—and family, friendship, allowing yourself to love and be loved, and what it means to be home.

Happy birthday, fam.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!

There are like–NO Stargate flash sheets out there on the internet so I had to take it upon myself. I’m gonna end up tattooing the worm on me, I know it. Would also get the Atlantis design but I don’t think I have room on the accessible places on my body? And I don’t want some yahoo who doesn’t care about Stargate to tattoo my own work on me, seems lame. Anyway, enjoy! someone come to CA and let me tattoo them!

Just rewatched The Shrine and I needed to see and read all the posts about that episode again, GOD DAMN. How often will this show hurt me again?? I wish I could watch it gif for gif, because I want to see every little detail, every expression and emotion. The love this team has for each other. Ronon being so emotional while yelling at Woolsey. John barely keeping it together in the cave. I only wish we could have seen more interactions between Rodney and Teyla (and Radek!). And more scenes with just the team. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I need. This episode could have been twice as long and it wouldn't be enough. It helps a lot to see how we all feel the same love for this show.

Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine

I said I had to gather my thoughts before I would be able to write something coherent. I still don't know if I can do it justice. It's weird, but I hesitate to call The Shrine my favorite episode because it's so devastating. It's very shippy, it has phenomenal acting from everyone, the story is heartbreaking, it should be perfect - but it just hurts so much. If this is my favorite episode, what kind of masochist am I? (Don't answer that, that was rethorical.)

I'm placing this under a cut because this is gonna be long.

Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine

The cold open on this one is just brutal. Rodney is already pretty far gone, and he calls himself "Mr Rodney McKay" instead of Dr, because "doctors are smart, and he's not smart anymore". To know what's happening to you, to slowly lose your mental capabilities and to be able to still process what's happening, that's cruel. And then he's calling for John, and that's when I had to pause the video for the first time because the tears were already coming. The title sequence hadn't even started.

Fuck.

I lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's a couple years ago. She had a slow and steady decline and thankfully, it was one of those cases where she just forgot more and more, but without the mental anguish. She wasn't panicking, or aggressive, or even agitated. Just a smiling, sweet old lady, who in the end didn't remember how to sit or eat or breathe. When she died, I couldn't cry. I was too busy consoling my mother and aunt at the funeral. The first time I cried was when I rewatched The Shrine, years later. It just shook something loose in me. It's also the point where I decided that if I ever got diagnosed, and was still in a state to do something about it, I would end my life on my terms. I'm not putting anyone through that.

I remember Kate Hewlett saying in an interview that a lot of people on set where crying during those scenes because they had family members with dementia, and that she had to leave the room at one point because it hit close to home for her too.

At first I thought it was mean that everyone was like, "Yeah I realized something was wrong when Rodney was being nice to everyone", but then I thought, no, that's actually a good point. Because his friends were uncomfortable with alternate universe Rod (who was too suave and cool) and they're uncomfortable with a Rodney who is uncharacteristically nice. They love him as he is, not a polished version.

I know everyone is giving Dr Keller shit for not wanting to try the Shrine, but I really think it's because she's a doctor. I work with doctors, and almost weekly I have discussions about respecting a patient's advanced directive. I've had a doctor wanting to install a gastric tube in a patient who was at the end of their life. We had the advanced directive that CLEARLY stated they didn't want that. When I confronted the doctor, she was almost angry. "But they will starve! I can't let them starve!" Yes, you can, and you will, and you have to. The hardest thing for a medical doctor is to have to sit back and not be allowed to do something that might help the patient. I think that where she's coming from. There are treatments to be tried, and if Rodney is taken to the Shrine, all those other options stop. I still think she was wrong and I don't like her approach, but I think it's an explanation why she was acting the way she was.

Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine

And then we have Rodney running to John's room in the middle of the night because of course that is the first and only place he'd go. It hurt to watch him be so frantic and desperate. And John is right there for him, grounding him, telling him, I'm not going anywhere.

Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine
Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine
Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine
Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine
Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine

Beer On The Pier. Yes, you have to write it like that because this scene is a fixed point in time and a goddamn cornerstone of this ship.

Rodney, knowing this is probably the last night he'll be this lucid, wants to say goodbye. And John doesn't let him. Because Rodney's stuck with him until the end. He's not going to turn away, no matter how ugly it's going to get. The very thought of saying goodbye is so foreign to John that he doesn't even want to discuss it. "That's final."

(Also, just for aesthetics alone, the night shots of the city are beautiful.)

I'm trying to be a bit less rambly, but what can you do when you have this masterpiece of an episode?

In the cave, when Rodney is intense pain, John has his arm around him the whole time and doesn't let go until he is himself again.

I love how everyone is so caring and surrounds him with love.

And ugh, the surgery - with fucking power tools. Barbaric. But necessary. But man, to hold your friend's head in your hands, holding him still, while a literal drill is going into his skull? I'd have passed out.

The only tiny little thing that was a bit jarring was Rodney's confession to Jennifer at the end, and just because for me, it came a bit out of left field. But I am nothing if not good at ignoring things that I don't like, so I'll just refer to fanfics that fix this. No harm done.

And finally.

Season 5, Episode 6: The Shrine

David Ian Hewlett.

Holy fuck, dude.

HOW are you not buried under a shitload of Emmys? How is there not a whole wing of your house dedicated to housing the tons of awards you should have gotten for this? (I know he did get quite a few, but I'm talking custom built shelves in at least four rooms. Minimum.)

Everyone brought their A game acting wise, but this guy knocked it out of the park. It was heartbreaking, moving, extremely believable, and just jaw-dropping. David is, in my opinion, one of the best, if not the best actor of the franchise, and I don't say that lightly. I have a massive crush on Joe Flanigan and he's great, same with Amanda Tapping, but David is just fantastic.

So yeah. There you have it. My very concise, totally normal opinion of this episode. I doubt anyone reads all of this, but hey, this is my tumblr and I do what I want.

If you did indeed sit through all of this, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to tag or reply or add stuff.
