Oof this was both nostalgic and painful to pull together. It hurts the same way being an adult watching 'Anastasia' hurts, we know she never saw her parents or siblings again. All that's left is the semi-abandoned castles and portraits sort of hurt.
Oh and I forgot to mention it on Ned's redesign post but way back when I read the first book, when season 1 was a twinkle in GRRM's eye, Ned was my favorite character. I am a sucker for honorable protagonists and was devastated. Who was your favorite character in book 1/Season 1?

I love how, no matter their differences in personality, all of the Stark kids have this energy
one egregious thing the game of thrones show misses out on is that the stark kids are CONSTANTLY thinking abt each other!! there isn’t like a single POV chapter from any of them where they don’t long for their siblings!! Jon wants to have a son and name him Robb!! Bran wants to be a bird so him and his siblings can live in a nest together!! Sansa prays for her siblings every night and makes the Winterfell castle and then gets upset bc there’s no one to throw snow at!! Needle IS Jon!! Arya’s list is her own prayer for her siblings, she doesn’t care that Joffrey is dead bc Robb is too!! Every single one of them believes that their big brother will come to save them!! there’s sm love and tenderness there and GOT missed out on lots of it bc it tries too hard for the grimdark angle without realising that the center of the stark’s story is their love for each other. anyways.
Every time Rickon future is mentioned, there's someone that seems to be so sure that he'll return like this cartoonish savage, a wild child that bites at random. In short, someone who will not be able to integrate into civil society (where have I heard this before?).
But why? Simply because he was raised by wildlings? We met the wildlings, we met Osha, she is not a madwoman who cannot control herself... She simply has different values from those of the kneelers, but she is perfectly capable of functioning in Winterfell and interacting with people.
And in my opinion Shaggydog's influence is not a sufficient explanation for this characterization. In fact, I think that Rickon, living with people who know what a warg is, has a good chance of receiving an education about it and learning to control this power.
I'm sure he can survive in his role even without knowing etiquette by heart.
I've always been repulsed by HBO's got, but recently I started reading the novels and found them really enjoyable. So here's a fanart of Sansa and Lady, might post more art if I manage to stay motivated.

If I may throw my hat into the ring, perhaps Jeyne Westerling and Arya Stark? I always thought that they might get along, and it's criminal to me that we don't get much speculation of what Robb's sisters might think of his wife.
Tully clothes because in an au where the girls get rescued and reunite with Robb in the Riverlands they wouldn't have their usual wardrobe with them.

She scooped up a handful of snow and squeezed it between her fingers. Heavy and wet, the snow packed easily. Sansa began to make snowballs, shaping and smoothing them until they were round and white and perfect. She remembered a summer’s snow in Winterfell when Arya and Bran had ambushed her as she had emerged from the keep one morning. They’d each had a dozen snowballs to hand, and she’d had none. Bran had been perched on the roof of the covered bridge, out of reach, but Sansa had chased Arya through the stables and around the kitchen until both of them were breathless. She might even have caught her, but she’d slipped on some ice. Her sister came back to see if she was hurt. When she said she wasn’t, Arya hit her in the face with another snowball, but Sansa grabbed her leg and pulled her down and was rubbing snow in her hair when Jory came along and pulled them apart, laughing.
What do I want with Snowballs? She looked at her sad little arsenal.There’s no one to throw them at. She let the one she was making drop from her hand. I could build a snow knight instead, she thought.Or even…

i just love the idea of the stark kids making a comeback and being absolute monsters.
like house stark is basically fucking gone and the heirs are everywhere but winterfell. they have all had major personal growth and major trauma done to them so now they are so tired and will take zero shit.
also special shout out to nymeria you really are the backbone of the stark PR team really selling the ominous stark comeback and giving westeros a taste of what the starks are gonna do.
the stark kids are the reflection of war. the cold ugly truth is clear on their faces of what war does.
