The glory of small things.
The lyrics of your favourite song floating through the air. The first sip of a cup of coffee in a beautiful coffee shop. The smell of your favourite tea at morning. The last lukewarm sip of a cup of hot chocolate in winter, snow falling outside. The sun peeking through the clouds. A rainbow after rain. A paragraph of a good book. An afternoon spent with someone you love, doing nothing unusual but just hanging out together. A moment where you just feel loved.

Something I love with the book yours truly is the portrayal of silence. Some silences are awkward, some are painful, but the rarest is the harmless silence you share with people you’re comfortable with.
Do you ever want to pause a moment and live in it forever, just existing?
Sometimes, I feel bad about not doing all the things I should’ve done. I feel bad about my ADHD and my habit of procrastinating. I feel like I’ve wasted too much time. But, then I remember that the time wasn’t wasted. I spent it doing something that made me happy, made me smile, feel better. And I think it’s important to sometimes take the time to do the small things, like watching that episode or reading that chapter, or scrolling for a few minutes, something that makes you feel good. And to remember that you aren’t wasting your time while you’re doing it.
3. “The sky turned purple”
Have you ever noticed how little it takes to make someone smile sometimes? You know, all the small things that don't get a lot of recognition, but that makes you happy nonetheless? The smell of the rain after a tiring day? A sunset, in all shades of red, orange, yellow, pink, purple? A cup of your favourite tea? Or a cup of coffee, with the exact right amount of milk? A small kindness? Someone’s laugh traveling up the street?
This, my friend, is the glory of small things.
It’s really the small things that makes one’s day so much better. Today I was at the train station and it was another Thursday till this band started playing a song while we were waiting. It made my day.
