your hands were wrapped around treech’s arm as he carefully lifted his axe up to the tree, beginning to carve the shape of a heart. he was prudent in his work, meticulously shaving the bark off of the tree from inside the shape he had formed. you watched him silently, in awe of his handiwork. the result was a perfect heart shaped carving, permanently engraved on the tree. beaming, you pressed a quick peck to the boy’s cheek, then pulled him along with you as you walked atop a tree trunk bridge back to the lake. currently, the two of you were clad only in your undergarments, having gone out with the intention of swimming for the whole day. your clothes were strewn over the branch of a fallen oak, basking in the sun. the water was freezing, a stark contrast to the midsummer heat that lingered in the air. treech held your hand as you stepped in, prepared to catch you if you accidentally slipped. at first, you sunk into the shallow water leisurely, but as the water reached your hips, you let go of treech’s hand, completely submerging yourself in order to get used to the temperature. as you arose, your teeth chattered, but a grin was still plastered on your face.
“get in, the water’s great!” you invited treech to join you with a sarcastic remark as he stood to the side, opting to just watch you. you could tell he contemplated it, but he denied, shaking his head. “where’s the fun in that?” you whined.
“i’ve gotta do something first.” he simply replied, a roguish glint in his eyes. you were suspicious, but let him do his own thing as you bathed in the water and sunshine. the gravelly sand that covered the bottom of the pond indented the skin on the underside of your legs, adding a soothing pressure as you sat down, letting the water ripple around you. many minutes passed, and you grew restless the more time you spent alone in the water. venturing further into the pond, schools of minnows could be found darting rapidly. they brushed past your skin, maneuvering around your moving form. all was quiet aside from the waves of the water as you forded through. a rustle in the bushes from behind you startled you, causing you to jump and turn around quickly. treech had come back, his hands behind his back.
“whatcha got there?” you queried, swimming over to him as he kneeled by the water. he just smiled, pulling out a bouquet of colorful wildflowers from behind him. vibrant pink poppies, orange lilies, mauve colored petunias, a few orchids scattered here and there, and yellow wallflowers galore all seemed to bloom from his hand. you were in complete and utter astonishment at the bundle of flowers and the work he had gone through to pick them for you. they were tied together with a loose stem, and you delicately took them from his hand. mother nature’s sweet scent wafted from the stunning plants, instantly soothing you. “these are beautiful, treech,” he grinned, eyes lighting up with pride. his smile always made you melt, and the way his hazel eyes, speckled with green and honey tones, glowed golden in the sun made him seem ethereal. laying the flowers down gently on the grass beside treech, you draped your arms around his neck, placing a tender kiss on his lips. treech gradually joined you in the water, but not before you plucked the sole, pale blue morning glory from the bouquet and tucked it behind his ear, brushing his curls out of his eyes. he took your hand as you guided him further into the pond. the two of you splashed around, laughing for hours until your fingers pruned.
treech had to drag you out of the water as the sun got lower and lower, the sky growing a burnt orange. you groaned playfully, but shook the water out of your hair anyway, allowing it to drip on the grass below you. the earth felt cool and damp under your bare feet, and the wind blew against your body, making you shiver. quickly, you slipped your shirt over your head, and tied your skirt around your waist, hoping to gain some warmth from the items of clothing that had been strewn out in the sun all day. it seemed to work, but your arms were still bare and the wind was picking up. treech noticed the goosebumps that had formed all along your forearms, and he helped you into his wool coat. smiling, you thanked him, grateful for the extra source of heat. gracefully, you picked up your dainty bouquet of flowers. intertwining your fingers with his, treech led you out of the familiar woods, taking you down the roads of district seven, back to your home. like the gentleman he was, treech walked you to your door, waiting to make sure you got inside safely before leaving. he was just about to leave as you slipped through the front door, but you called his name before he could go any further. he raised his eyebrows, urging you to go on.
“i love you,” you professed, coyly.
“i love you more,” treech declared with a smile, before promptly turning and bidding you goodnight, the flower still adorning his hair.

{Quiet moments between you and Finnick when you can’t sleep}
I hope you enjoy my lovelies! 💕
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Winter was in full force, with harsh winds that nipped at your skin. Not even the fireplace could fend off, let alone the fluffy covers that you’ve layered upon your shared bed. Perhaps it was the cold chill in the air that prevented sleep from capturing you, or maybe it was something else entirely… you decide to not let your mind wander to what that could possibly be.
You sit up wrapping your cotton shawl around your shoulders tightly as your eyes scan across your room, dimly lit by the small sliver of moonlight that peaks behind the curtains and stretches across the floor trailing along the wall.
Finnick doesn’t stir with your movement which means he must be exhausted because he’s often a light sleeper, although you’re not surprised with the busy day he’s had. You smile softly down at him, the way his cheek is smushed against the soft pillow. You gently push his hair away from his closed eyes as you admire him, you’re glad he’s found comfort beside you.
The thought crosses your mind to wake him up, he’s always told you that if you can’t sleep to wake him up, he wouldn’t mind. But looking at him now, you just can’t bring yourself to do it, you’d feel far too guilty.
Instead, you decide to make your way to the kitchen, but not before putting on a pair of thick socks, after all, the tiled floor always felt much colder in the dead of night. Perhaps a warm drink would help lull you to sleep? You think to yourself as you fill the kettle.
You cringe slightly as the water begins to boil, squeezing your eyes shut at the sudden loud noise. Finnick had brought all types of different teas with the hope that one of them might help you get a good night's rest, he’d do anything if it meant you were happy.
You remember when he brought them home, two whole bags full of boxes with different kinds of ‘sleep treatments’ it brought tears to your eyes.
Finnick was always sweet to you, it shows in the way he looks at you, the way he holds you, and the sweet nothings he whispers to you whenever you feel down. You start to miss him, even though he’s only in your shared bedroom, the room next to the kitchen, fast asleep.
You pour the hot water into the small ceramic mug, the same one Peeta had gifted you as a congratulations for your engagement, he had hand painted them, beautiful flowers that swirl around the cup.
Soon enough the sweet smell of the tea reaches you, soothing the restless feeling that builds up within your chest. You take a small sip of the warm beverage as Finnick wanders through the kitchen, eyes heavy with sleep.
“It’s freezing out here honey” his voice is rough despite the softness of his tone, exhaustion hangs on his every word. he shuffles closer to you, bringing his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him as if he’s trying to protect you from the chill that lingers within the air.
A sigh falls from your lips when he presses a kiss to your forehead, his hands soothing against your back as you rest against him. Even in the safety of his arms the guilt still bubbles up within you, “Did I wake you up?” You ask, pushing your face against his shoulder.
“No, was already awake” he’s lying but you decide not to fight him on it, far too distracted by the warmth of his hands as they slip underneath your shirt, fingers splaying across your lower back. “Can’t sleep without you anyway” he says, pulling back to get a better look at you, the truth of his words are shown through his eyes.
“M’sorry” you mumble into the soft fabric of his shirt, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me” The words come out much heavier than you’d like and it strikes a cord within Finnick, one that pinches his heart.
He tuts softly as he leans back slightly, holding your chin with his finger and thumb. “Hey,” he whispers, tilting your head to look at him. His eyes immediately soften as yours find his, “Don’t apologise, honey, it’s what I’m here for, yeah?” He smiles, seeming more awake than he was just mere minutes ago.
“I know, I just- I don’t want to be too much” The words feel silly as they escape your lips but your chest feels lighter for it. You know deep down you shouldn’t feel like this, Finnick has never made you feel anything but loved.
“Too much?” He repeats after you as if you had just said something that had completely baffled him, and it did. “There’s no such thing, sweetness,” he tells you, pressing a gentle kiss to the corner of your mouth. “I love you- so much” he whispers against your lips before kissing you, not letting your mind wander elsewhere for even a second.
“I love you too Finn” you exhale, eyes closing as he rests his forehead against your own, your noses bumping against each others slightly.
“Come on, it’s warmer in bed,” he says, unwrapping his arms from around you as he picks up the tea you had made, “I got this, you go get into bed honey” he smiles and you know better than to fight him on it, so you do as he says, climbing back into the cosy bed with Finnick following shortly behind you.
He hands you the warm beverage before joining you, his hand slipping into your own as you take small sips of your drink. He talks about the market, how they're starting to sell that one specific seasonal bread you like, and he even begins to make plans for the weekend with you. his voice clams your nerves, it brings peace.
"Thank you, Finnick" you whisper, resting your head against his shoulder as he pulls the blankets over your legs.
He brings your hand up to his lips, pressing soft kisses to your knuckles, “Always for you” he says, voice heavy with sleep once again. You set your mug on the bedside table before turning back to him, and for the first time tonight, you start to feel yourself drift off as you lay in his arms.
Finnick could admire you forever without wanting anything, study every ‘imperfection’ and fall even more in love with you. He would pour his heart out to you right now if he wasn’t so tired so instead he settles for a simple, “G’night beautiful” with love dripping from his tone, and soon enough you both find sleep.

{You and Peeta bake… more or less}
It’s short and sweet, Enjoy my lovelies! 💕
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
The sun was beginning to set, its warm orangey light stretches over the horizon and filters through the kitchen window, peaking through the curtains as Peeta works the dough under his palms. You were meant to be helping, but instead, you stood admiring him as he works under the warm evening sun, the light dusting against his skin.
Peeta can feel your eyes on him, and he smiles to himself turning to you. “Are you gonna help me, or just keep ogling at me?” He chuckles as he continues to knead the dough under his palms.
You scoff shaking your head as you snap out of your trance. “I was not ogling… I was admiring there’s a huge difference” you tell him, flicking some of the flour up at him as he tries to dodge it. You reach over to pick up another pinch of flour but his hip nudges against yours, pushing you away gently as you giggle.
“Hey… there are rules to the kitchen you know?” He says, looking over at you as his blond hair falls just above his eye, you reach over to push his soft locks away and he gives you an appreciative smile.
You frown softly, deciding to humour him. “Oh yeah, and what are the rules?” You ask, watching him as he washes his hand before turning back to you.
“Well for one… no ogling at the baker and secondly no throwing ingredients” he smirks as you roll your eyes shaking your head softly, he picks the dough up carefully placing it in the bread pan.
There’s a comforting atmosphere that blankets over the pair of you, it’s in the smell of the freshly baked bread and the way Peeta looks at you. It’s everywhere hidden within the walls of the house and stored in the pictures that are displayed.
You stand beside Peeta as he washes up the dishes while you dry them. “Could you get that baby?” He asks softly, his hands still scrubbing the bowls as he nods down to his sleeve that has fallen down to his forearm, you reach over to pull it back up to his elbow and he whispers a small ‘thank you’
The pair of you finish up with the dishes, waiting for the bread to finish cooking. The pair of you sit on the sofa. Your head rests against his shoulder as you lean into his warm touch. His hand slips into yours, and his thumb caresses your palm gently. It’s hard to fight the sleep that creeps upon you, especially since he’s warm and gentle, everything about him soothes you.
“Don’t fall asleep angel” he whispers, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he feels your body lean further into him. His hand soothes against your arm, trying to keep you awake, but it has the complete opposite effect.
“M’not… I’m wide awake” you mumble, sleep lacing through your tone and Peeta can’t help but chuckle. Before he can respond the timer is ringing from the kitchen, and the smell of bread travels through the house.
Peeta stands up, stretching slightly before looking back at you. “Stay awake for me baby” he says as you sit up giving him an unconvincing nod before he disappears into the kitchen.
It doesn’t take long for him to come back with a plate of warm golden bread. He places it on the coffee table, breaking a piece off before handing it to you, with a hopeful look that flashes through his eyes as he watches you take a bite.
“It’s perfect… as always” you smile, reaching over to take another piece of the sweet-tasting bread.
“You know there’s another rule to the kitchen,” Peeta says, sitting down next to you on the sofa with a knowing look.
There’s a soft smirk that adorns your lips as you turn to him, raising your eyebrows slightly. “Mhm… and what’s that?” you ask.
“You gotta pay the baker” he smiles and you roll your eyes, shaking your head softly as you whisper. “Right of course how could I forget” leaning to press a gentle kiss to his lips, his hand resting against your cheek as his fingertips graze along your jaw.
You can’t help but smile against his lips, breaking the kiss as he pulls away with a soft look in his eyes… as if you were everything he ever needed and truth be told you were.

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
The sun is setting, casting hues of pink and orange that shimmer along the ocean water. It’s a mesmerising sight that you can’t seem to stop looking at, despite the fact that you and Finnick come to this beach almost everyday.
He watches you with a soft smile, his heart hammering inside his chest at the way the afternoon sun kisses your skin making you glow in the most prettiest of ways. His eyes take in the shape of your lips and the curve of your nose. He’d study you for hours upon hours if you’d let him.
“You’re staring” You smile, turning your head to the side to look at him. His face reddens slightly with embarrassment, trying to cover it up with a smirk.
“I’m just enjoying the view” He replies with a playful wink, chuckling at the way you roll your eyes.
The sea ripples at your ankles as you dig your fingers through the sand looking for seashells. You have a small collection consisting of only three shells; one for the time you and Finnick went on your real first date, another for the day he got reaped and one for when he came back from winning his games.
All of them are different shapes, colours and sizes sitting neatly on your bedside table. They were the only things that got you through the days where he was gone, the memories of him live through the groves of the shells and the sound of the sea that’s trapped within them.
“This one… this one is perfect” You tell him holding up the small shell. It’s chipped slightly at the top but besides from that, it’s in great shape. You hold the shell up to his eyes nodding your head softly.
Finnick frowns ever so slightly, eyebrows pulled together in confusion as he watches you press the seashell up to the side of his face. “What are you doing?” He chuckles softly looking over at your hand.
“It matches your eye colour” You whisper as you study the different shades of greens and blues, how some are darker and lighter in areas and how they come together to mimic his eyes.
Finnick thinks you might’ve just broken him, the teasing words die on his tongue and suddenly he’s finding it hard to breathe.
“You’re gonna add it to your collection?” He grins softly as you nod, making a comment about how you’re gonna start a shrine dedicated to him and he doesn’t bother hiding the blush that dusts his cheeks.
He does the same thing, his eyes glancing up to yours and then to the sandy floor in search of a seashell. He picks up one, then another and holds them up to your eyes, his warm hand grazing against your cheek as he does so.
“You’re so beautiful” He whispers, taking notice of how the sunlight hits your eyes. You tilt your chin down to your chest as a breathless giggle falls from your lips and Finnick wastes no time in holding your jaw gently, making you look up at him.
“Why’re you shying away from me honey?” He smirks and you curse him silently because he knows damn well what he’s doing to you, especially when his thumb begins to soothe against your cheek and the space just under your eye.
“I’m not shying away” You breathe glancing down at the seashells that lay in his palm. “Have you found a match yet?” You ask before he can continue with his teasing.
Finnick looks down at the shells with a smile. “Hmm?… oh yeah, this one” He says as he hands you the seashell that matches your eye colour, it twists into a cone and the end is chipped off.
They both sit in the palm of your hand, one that resembles his and one that resembles yours, and there’s something about it that melts him, the thought that no matter what happens you’ll always have a reminder of him.
“I’m gonna add them to my collection” You smile as his eyes meet yours, full of love, an overwhelming feeling that bleeds into his chest and he just can’t seem to get enough of.
The words fall so effortlessly from his lips and he doesn’t hide away from them. “I love you” It’s such a simple declaration but the way he says it takes you back. His tone is soft but passionate, dripping with affection. A soft gasp escapes you as the words linger in the air.
Before Finnick can even begin to question himself you’re already wrapping your arms around his shoulders, hugging him tightly. “I love you too Finn” You whisper against his neck, the smell of sea salt lingers in his hair.
It’s all he’s ever wanted and more, stored in those special words and now he’s said it once he’s never going to stop. He rests his forehead against yours, his hand against your cheek as he kisses you softly, noses bumping against each other’s slightly.
“I love you so much” He says once more, against your lips with a smile. You whisper the words back in between sweet kisses that soon taper off, breaking slowly as the pair of you smile uncontrollably. He glances down at the shells in your hand, the same ones that’ll sit on your bedside table for years to come.

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺
Words were a hard thing to get out of you recently, you were so closed off… skittish, almost as if you were afraid of your own voice. Finnick couldn’t blame you in fact there’s not a bone in his body that could ever be mad at your recent behaviour, he understood better than most people.
He watches you with a soft expression as you sit at the kitchen table, losing yourself in a new puzzle. He admires the calm look in your eyes and the way you shift the pieces into the correct places with gentle hands whilst he prepares dinner, his eyes flicking over to you every now and then to keep a close eye on you.
The faint sound of rain pattering against the windows only seems to add to the tranquillity of the evening. Then the silence breaks, and your voice softly reaches his ears, “I’m stumped.” It shocks him a little, it’s evident in the way his eyes widened slightly.
“Stumped?… lemme take a look, honey.” He replies back to you, keeping his voice hushed as he walks over to you resting his palms against the wooden table to lean over you. His gaze flickering over the puzzle, studying the pieces with narrowed, concentrated eyes.
It takes only a second for him to pick the piece you’re looking for, gently snapping it into place with a smirk on his lips. “Oh… thank you.” You whisper softly, looking up at him with a small smile that doesn't quite reach your eyes. He leans down to press a kiss on your forehead.
There’s a certain patience in Finnick, never condescending in the way he speaks or looks at you. If anything he’s the glue that holds you together, constantly there to anchor you back to reality whenever your mind drifts further than you can reach.
The memories were the worst part, you seemed to have a difficult time remembering what was real and what was fake… which caused you to forget a lot. Those special moments you shared with Finnick before the games are now tainted with a stain you couldn’t clear off.
Although there are moments where it flickers back slightly like embers of a fire that leaves a tingling warmth across your skin. The smallest things set it off, music for example. Soft notes of a familiar tune echo through the kitchen, there’s a sense of safety within the lyrics.
Finnick knows you remember the song and the moment you shared with him. It’s in the way your eyes glisten with fondness and that ever-so-small smile that begins to crack at the corner of your lips.
The pair of you glance at each other simultaneously as the gentle notes ricochet through the room. Finnick smirks over at you, extending his hand to you with a soft nod of his head. He waits for you to take him up on the opportunity, never forcing your hand.
He watches patiently as the hesitation flickers through your expression and relief washes over his expression as you stand up from the chair, your hand slipping into his slightly rough one.
“Do you remember this song?” He asks with a teasing edge to his tone although his expression soon melts with tenderness as you nod your head shyly and he takes this moment to place his hand against your hip.
Finnick brings you into him before gently swaying you both side from side. “I could never forget.” You whisper back to him and your words only fuel him to hold you closer.
Your shoulders relax and a sigh escapes your lips as you rest your head against Finnicks chest, the scent of sea salt and firewood sits against his skin and lingers within his clothes. It’s homely… warm within his arms, nothing can hurt you and those painful memories of the games take a backseat in your muddled-up mind.
The pair of you continue to sway gently, taking it one note at a time as you let the music carry you both. You feel Finnick’s chest vibrate slightly as he lets out a soft chuckle and before you can even ask why you’re suddenly being spun around, your breath catches in your throat as he pulls you back into him.
His hands fall to your hips and then he hears it, the sweet giggle that you let out and he freezes in place. It’s a sound that sends a familiar warmth blooming within his chest. “I love you.” He whispers, his hands caressing your hips and then up to your waist.
Your smile widens slightly at his words and you can’t help but wrap your arms around his shoulders, holding him to you closely as he starts to press kisses all over your face. “I love you too.” You giggle in between the ticklish kisses.
The sight makes his heart swell with devotion. He can’t remember the last time he’s seen you like this, so at peace and so happy, he makes a silent promise to keep it this way for as long as he possibly can.

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺
Fluorescent lights that sting the back of your eyes are the first thing you’re met with when you wake up in district thirteen. A safe haven in comparison to the Capitol, despite the coldness of the room and the firm mattress you’re lying on.
You sit up, a dull ache seizes your body and a certain tension builds between your shoulder blades. You groan in a mixture of pain and exhaustion. It’s a lot quieter here than back in the Capitol, where there’s always a distant buzz of constant noise that rings in your ears.
The coldness of the tiles beneath your socked feet sends a shiver through your body, but you push on, ignoring the pain that lingers within your bones. Walking through doors and surprisingly empty hallways, while pulling along the IV drip that’s attached to you.
You soon hear it, through a sea of voices, Finnick. He’s saying your name, begging to see you, calling out to you like a lighthouse does to a boat and it causes a surge of adrenaline to wash over your achy body.
Without hesitation you rip the IV out, rushing past people through tear-blurred vision. The doctors try to urge you to stop but their pleas are drowned out by Finnick and the need to be close to him.
Finnick is rendered completely speechless as he sees you, the exhaustion that lingers heavily underneath your eyes makes his heart ache with guilt that he couldn’t do more. He holds you close, harbouring your body within the safety of his arms not willing to let go… not again, not ever again.
“You’re okay… you’re okay.” He breathes, both a statement and a promise. His hand reaches to hold your head against his chest, the beat of his heart calms you like a sea chanty.
His lips meet your own, slotting together like pieces of a puzzle. His nose bumps against yours as he kisses you so softly and yet so desperately that it sends a tingle down your spine.
The people around you clear away with soft murmurs, giving well-deserved space to the pair of you as you both reunite.
“I thought… they told me-” You decide not to finish that sentence, cutting yourself off with a soft gasp, because neither of the things they told you were real. Finnick was here and alive still looking at you with love in his eyes.
His big hands cup either side of your tear-stained face, tilting your head up gently to look at him. His thumbs brushing away any stray tears.
“None of it was true… not a word.” He says with so much conviction, a tone that carries a certain understanding, that the doubt in your mind ebbs away for now.
His expression softens when you nod, the way you lean into the warmth of his palm and how your eyes flutter close ever so slightly at his touch. His breath catches in his chest, overwhelmed by the rush of emotions.
“Do you know how many times I’ve dreamed of this?” He whispers, voice quivering slightly. “Every waking hour, honey.” His fingertips trail along your cheek.
“Me too Finn… I was so scared I was never going to see you again.” The way your voice strains is enough to make Finnick's knees weak with devastation.
“I was never going to let that happen.” He promises, pressing a kiss against your forehead letting his lips linger for a moment in hopes to soothe you.
You press your face against his chest as if you were trying to hide away from the world, tears staining his shirt. “You’re safe… I’ve got you, honey.” He whispers, fingers brushing through your hair gently.
His hands trail down along your arms, his fingertips skimming over the spot where the IV drip was inserted. “Let’s get you back into bed, yeah?” He smiles softly, his arm supporting you as he guides you back down the hallways.
“You’ll stay? I don’t think I can sleep another night without you.” You whisper softly, voice hoarse from all the crying.
“I’m not letting you out of my sight baby… not in a million years.” He swears, helping you back into bed. Fluffing up your pillows and pulling the blankets over your legs.
Finnick sits on the edge of the bed, helping you drink and eat. His hand holding your own, fingers entwined with yours as he peppers loving kisses along your knuckles. The future holds an eerie uncertainty but there is one thing Finnick is, without a shadow of a doubt, certain of… he’d never leave your side again.

{Katniss returns home to you after a long day of hunting and you clean her up}
I need to write more for her. Enjoy my lovelies💕
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺
The herbal smell of venison stew dances through the air pleasantly as the pot simmers on low heat on the stove, bubbling ever so slightly whilst you potter around the kitchen. You hum a soft tune, a song that Katniss had gently whispered against your shoulder as she soothed you from a nightmare last night.
You had to convince her three times over before she finally left to go hunting today. Katniss didn’t like leaving you alone on a good day, let alone after what happened the night before.
It left a bitter taste in her mouth and an ache in the pit of her stomach that she couldn’t seem to shake. She knew you’d be fine, tucked away in the depths of the forest. Warm and safe in the small cabin you both call home, but it still doesn’t make her worry any less.
Maybe that explains why every time she comes back home there’s a small sigh of relief that passes through her lips. Her face immediately softens at the sight of you as you walk over to her, helping her to take off her coat.
“Smells good,” Katniss smirks as you thumb her cheek, rubbing away whatever stains her skin. Her eyes flutter close ever so slightly at the feeling of your soft hands.
She kicks off her boots, not wanting to track mud into the small house. “Thank you, I used the last bit of deer.” You tell her and she nods softly with a hum of acknowledgement.
You lean forward to press a kiss against her cheek, the scent of the outside lingers in her hair and against her skin. It’s something you’ve come to love, a certain sense of comfort you’ve found within it.
Katniss sits down at the kitchen table with a soft sigh, running her fingers across the grazes on her palms with a frown. You notice this, your eyebrows pulled together in worry as your gaze flickers to her sore palms and then to her face.
The sound of a gasp that comes from you makes her look up. Her eyes find yours as your hand gently cups her face, fingers curling around her jaw.
“What happened?” The softness in your tone burns away her bad mood as you take in the sight her the scrape under her chin, red sore and slightly bleeding. See, she had tripped over a tree root that was hidden beneath the fallen, trodden leaves which blanketed the forest floor with colours of orange, yellows to browns.
But Katniss would never admit this, never. “Nothing… just you know, it’s rough out there this time of year.” She murmurs, glancing down at her palms with a slight twinge of embarrassment flashing through her face.
It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together, the grazes on her palms and underneath her chin. It’s clear what had happened… you’d save her from the embarrassment, for now.
“Looks rough, you really banged yourself up.” You have to bite back the giggle that bubbles within your throat when she shoots you a glare. Although, she’s not really mad at you, how could she be?
Especially when you press such a sweet kiss against her jaw and the way your thumb soothes against her knuckles. “Yeah… yeah.” She mumbles with a small smirk.
You take the first aid kit from the cupboard above the sink before sitting down beside her at the kitchen table. Katniss’ eyes never leave you, watching the way your soft hands take hers. You look down at the grazes on her palms, gently wiping away the dried blood and dirt with an alcohol wipe.
“Does it hurt?” You ask, doing the same to her other palm that was a little worse. She shakes her head, her cheeks a little rosy from how gently you’re handling her.
She’s not used to it, even after all this time. It’s addictive, the sweetness of you that leaves her stomach feeling all fluttery.
“No… no it’s fine.” She promises as a small smile adorns her lips, her expression softening.
“Good. Look up for me, love.” You tilt her head upwards gently, your hand cupping the nape of her neck so you can get a better look at the scrape under her chin.
With a soft 'tut' you begin to gently clean the small cut with the last alcohol wipe before pressing a kiss to the underside of her jaw, and you can’t help but smirk at the way her breath hitches ever so slightly.
Katniss looks back at you, an appreciative expression settles against her face. “Thank you.” She whispers.
“Anytime, clumsy pants.” You can’t help it and honestly, Katniss doesn’t mind, despite the huff that escapes her. The sound of your giggle makes it all better, she’d do anything to hear that sound.
“Go get washed up… dinner is almost ready.” You tell her, your lips meeting hers as you both share a loving kiss. It’s soft yet desperate as if she had waited all day just for this.
The kiss tapers off into small pecks, ones that are just as loving. “Okay, I'll be quick...” She whispers breathlessly, her cheeks dusted with a stubble pink colour as she disappears off into the bathroom.

The District was cold as you passed by the beggars. District twelve was always rather unfortunate, being fed scraps by the other districts, coal miners, that was all you were.
Not you though, you were a preformed, a covey you liked to be called. Well, you did until your sister was taken from you by the hunger games.
Lucy gray was everything to you, she was the reason you woke up every morning, she was the one to take care of you, she loved you and supported you.
To many eyes, she was weird, an obnoxious singer. To you, she was everything. She took you in from the streets without question, she raised you, cared for you when your own kind left you.
And to your surprise, when she was picked, you wanted it to be you instead. You even tried to volunteer but Lucy wouldn't let you.
She was so close, if it hadn't been for the lumberjack. Many call him a Victor, the first victor of the seventh District, but to your eyes. He was the reason Lucy wasn't here with you right now.
Deep down, you knew he wasn't to blame, but forgiving him felt like a betrayal to your sister. You couldn't do that to her. So here you sat, in a bar as you watched your family perform.
You knew you were up soon, but the thought of singing without your sister hurt you.
So here you sat, vodka in your hand, perks of working in the bar. You smiled at the bartender as he handed you another one. “Tough day ain't it birdy?”
“Call me that again and I'm shoving this bottle up your ass.” You threatened as you held the Vodka bottle in your hands as he smirked. Troy Abernathy was your best friend, he’ll always be your best friend, or favorite drinking buddy as he certainly knew how to put it away.
“You always were feisty, I believe it's your time to fly.” He said before walking off, you turned around to find your cousin, Maude Ivory, she sat down beside you, laying her head onto her propped up elbow.
“Don't.” You whispered as Maude sighed, taking a glass of water and taking a sip before turning back to you.
“You already know what she'd say. You didn't survive for this.” Maude mumbled as you sighed, drinking from the bottle. You knew they all suffered from the loss, but it hit you the hardest.
You two had a special sisterly bond that no one could even imagine. When you two were apart, it was like a fish out of water. You couldn't breathe when she was gone and she couldn't think without you.
Your luck ran out when you were picked right after her games. Even if you wanted to go back to her, you couldn't leave the rest after Lucy. You knew that if you too had left, Maude would be the one drinking instead of you. So if the consequences of Maude living a happy life were you drinking your sorrows away, it was worth it.
“I'll sing next night.” You muttered as she shook her head.
Next night.
I'll do it next night.
Maybe tomorrow.
I'm too ill, maybe next night.
The same excuses, all over, and over, and over again. Maude sighed before walking off to the stage. You smiled as you watched her preform instead of you. It was nice seeing your little sister sing.
That was until the peacekeepers barged in and dragged you to the stations where you were shoved into an empty capitol train.

[Mentor!Coriolanus Snow x time-travel, thg-era, tribute!reader x toxic!Finnick Odair (in the Peacekeeper era)]

Warning: gore, blood, gun and knife violence, serious injury, death, physical assult, possibly non-con...as I said, maybe...

Summary: You are a rebel, the last chance of the rebellion against President Snow. You're told to go on one last mission to kill the man who massacred Panem. It took you years to understand your mission when you became [name] Lily Baird, starting from the age of five till before the reaping day of the 10th Hunger Games.
The day you began your plan to destroy President Snow before he became the villain he was meant to become.
'Both sisters, Lucy Gray and [Name] Lily Baird are a part of the Covey, and though they have been chosen as tribute for both District 12 and 9 because of our own mistakes, we hope they will stay safe.'
You knew about [Name] Lily Baird, named after her because your mother was inspired by her fiery personality and strength, but now you realize that you were transported to a time before the Baird sisters died, one of sickness and one because of Coriolanus Snow himself.
'I will kill you, President Coriolanus Snow.'

The list of dead tributes caught Sejanus’ eye. Of course, he had sat down in front of his television to see if the Baird sisters were there but it wouldn't hurt to look once more.
His amber eyes analyzed the rough paper stuck to the fountain, Tributes from 1, 2, and 6, were dead. [Name] Lily was the Tribute who survived from District 9, Sejanus was sure that when Coriolanus had heard that a Tribute from 9 had died he’d probably gotten a heart attack.
But if anything this is what that fucking deranged manic, Dr.Gaul, wanted.
Quickly killing multiple Tributes and letting one escape was her MO.
When Sejanus had gotten home, he proceeded to grab meatloaf sandwiches from his Ma that she’d made to give to Coryo before heading out again to visit the Hospital for the Capital people injured during the Arena Bombing. Ma asked why he was heading out again.
“Oh you know, Ma. I’m going to the Hospital to visit Coriolanus.”
She rolled her eyes before extending her arm to wave him away. “ You’re growing up to be just like your Pa, but don’t forget Coriolanus’ book bag, didn’t you grab it once you heard he was injured?”
Sejanus widened his eyes. He’d completely forgotten about the book bag! “ Ah, thanks Ma!” He waved before jogging down the stone steps.
It was dark when Coriolanus finally was awoken after Sejanus’ visit. He had assumed it was a nurse but the ravaged face of Clemensia Dovecote. Once she screamed, the nurses picked her up to lock her in her room.
But it cursed his mind, and he could never forget her screams of anger and anguish until he died by an angry, cold, person he made in his image. Because he wouldn’t die without knowing that his wrath and revenge could be continued.
A week later, Coriolanus had walked up to you and said those exact words, searching for your distant comfort in place of his cousin or Grandma’am.
You gently hugged him as he slowly buried his head into your neck, thinking of what he’d meant.
‘ Oh, Katniss Everdeen, maybe you became President Snow while fighting against him…’

Hi! sorry for the short post today!

[if you wanna know who made the banners I tagged her on this series' masterlist and my pinned post and reblogged one of her posts!]
Random thought. I don't know if it already exists, but what if...
There was a Hunger Games fanfic that takes place during the original three movies. The oc is a victor and maybe becomes a performer for the capital (known for singing before the games). Before the quarter quell is announced, she starts singing songs, but Lucy Gray's songs or similar songs, and it scares Snow to the point he rigs the reaping and the oc gets picked again.
It goes into the Mockingjay movies, and she (the oc) still sings to scare and distract Snow. I'm not sure if there would be a love interest or anything (maybe Finnick or another oc).
I'm not sure how her games would be yet, but everyone would be scared of her when she gets out. She gets into singing again, and everyone becomes engrossed by her charm, but still cautious and scared around her.
I don't know how to explain my thoughts, but hopefully, this made a little sense. If no one had this idea or wrote something like it, I might give it a shot. Or if someone is willing to make this idea come to life, that would also be welcomed.
please don’t go, i love you so

Coriolanus is possessive.
It sickens him to his very core, sends nausea rolling like a wave through his chest; he’s not a child. Yet, the mere sight - thought - of you engaging with any other man, even innocently, is enough to have him seeing red: white-knuckled, muscles drawn taut like a bowstring, ready to eliminate any and all threat standing between him and his girl.
It's the way those boys look at you. As if you're a piece of meat, a toy to play with that they're just begging, aching to sink their teeth into, to leave a permanent mark on. The boys in this district are barbaric- that's what Coryo thinks anyway. It's disgusting, the things that he knows they think about you.
It's been a long day in District Twelve. Coriolanus' grey jumpsuit rubs and itches and his skin crawls with an uneasiness settled at the pit of his stomach. It's a warm day, his skin sticky as he peels the top half of the jumpsuit from his slender arms and ties it neatly around his waist. The grass by the lake is damp with the leftover dew from the morning.
He catches sight of you amongst the trees, weaving and bobbing through the undergrowth as you do, your lithe fingers brushing against leaves. Your head dips and then raises as his tall figure creeps into your peripheral vision. A smile graces your features, real and earnest with all your teeth.
There’s a slight waver in your countenance when you catch Coriolanus’ own expression; his brows are knit, pushing his forehead into a crease, lips pushed together tersely.
You walk straight into his arms, balancing yourself on one leg and pushing your shoulder underneath his armpit. You needle your way in, your forehead rested against his chin, so close you can feel his breath against your face.
“Hi, gorgeous,” you murmur. You reach up to push out the ridge in his brow and your thumb traces the bridge of his nose in a way that couldn’t be perceived as anything other than unbridled affection. “Something wrong?”
His slender fingers settle against your waist. You shiver at the contact when he spins and pushes you back into a tree. The bark digs into your back as you shuffle to meet his eyes— his eyes that have suddenly clouded with something dark and possessive.
“What is it?” you ask again; your voice is becoming more strained the longer he stays quiet, your own hands snaking up his arms like vines and squeezing.
He shakes his head and drops his face to look at you properly.
“Nothing. I have you.”
“Okay.” You click your tongue, tilting your head at him. His face gravitates towards yours, breath hot and mixing with your own. “You gonna kiss me or what, handsome?”
He doesn’t need any encouragement, surging forward to catch your lips between his own; his hands are rough, kneading the soft flesh of your hip. His other makes its way up to your jaw, fingertips pressing so hard you’re sure he’s branding you. You’ve never been kissed like this, with such fervour and passion and need. You gasp into his mouth and your arm wraps around his neck to pull him further into you.
“Coryo,” you pant.
“Shh,” he forces out, his fingers suddenly an iron grip around your neck; the hollow of your throat is bared to him and bobs under his cruel touch.
“Coriolanus, that hurts,” you say, strangled. His eyes are alight with a fire, a blazing inferno roaring in his head as he squeezes your throat and laughs.
You wheeze, clutching at his wrist in an attempt to loosen his grip. He obliges you, running a thumb over the indents he’s left in your soft skin to smooth them away.
“You know I’d never hurt you, right?” he asks. His head drops to the juncture of your neck, arms hooking loosely around your middle as he relaxes into you. “I just wanted to feel you. To know you’re mine.”
The incident is forgotten as soon as it ends. He has a charm in that sort of way; you don’t see his faults even when he shows them to you clear as day. You’ll never see what’s right in front of you even if he wants you to.
“Of course I’m yours, Coryo. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“The way they all look at you here…” He falters. “Like they all want you. Like they want to take you away from me. You’re mine- they have to understand that.”
“No one could take me away from you,” you giggle, your temple resting against the tip of his shoulder so you can duck your head to meet his eyes. “I know where I belong. And that’s right here with you.”
“Good.” He mouths at your neck like a man starved, arms coming right up until they’re hooked just underneath your own. He pulls away heaving for breath.
“Wanna show me just where you belong?”
