Wips Of Otto And Noone's Refs ! Some Soft Design Notes OTTO DESIGN NOTES- I Like To Think The Eye Clothing

wips of otto and noone's refs ! some soft design notes OTTO DESIGN NOTES - I like to think the eye clothing is something he seemingly picked to try and be more connected to cece in some sense, a lot of spirals and areas were he is just littered in eyes that are scattered just as much as are his goals and motivations - his coat is meant to be a little too big for him, people theorize about the candleman / ferryman being like otto or that they're one in the same and while it is interesting, I like to think they're parallel to one another and I use that as a means of the coat being kind of like the candleman / ferryman's - mismatched sock supremacy !!!!!!! - broski carries sweets wherever he goes, I like to think he has a general sweet tooth because he kind of eats candies in the middle of the night while going over noone's session tapes, mans got have his girl dinner NOONE DESIGN NOTES - theys got a tooth gap because honestly with the way noone's voice actor speaks, I just think it's funky doo silly and makes it even more precious when she has moments where she smiles because you get to see her tooth gap reflect itself - traditional patient clothing but with a little more detail, just to make it kind of cozy + some shorts - I like to think she and otto have molees and that noone's moles are moreso on their legs or around their shoulders - dirty feet because you gotta be so real with me that noone just is an outside kid or likes to play with bugs or collects them like they explained with the moths so girlie is watching stick bugs dance you can't prove otherwise - and the scars are from nightmares, I like to think a little of the nowhere creeps up more than just mental / internal in them so it might've been from just times where nightmares got particularly difficult or she cut themselves at some points while running and otto often helped with cleaning up the scars / could be an accident from gardening or etc.

if anyone's got any questions abt their designs, lmk

What do you think of the counsellor? Have your opinions on him changed?

He is such an interesting character. I love him, but I hate him. I loathe him. He is terrible, despicable, but I can recognize his actions were out of grief and trauma.

“Please, I need to see my Sissy again.”

“I was only a boy”

“Do not go without me”

“Not again”

“She abandoned me, she wanted to get away from me. No, sissy did you abandoned me too? No, of course not, you wouldn’t have. You wouldn’t have! How could you leave your little brother behind? No, no, you wouldn’t have.”

That’s a very common theme in the series, how the adults constantly hurt the kids around them. Then how these kids grow up and hurt the kids, repeating the same cycles of their predecessors. I feel terrible for Noone, she was yet another victim in that terrible cycle, in that terrible world.

And this is super, super unlikely and I know many will disagree with me and I may be completely wrong, but I still think there’s still this very small possibility that The Counsellor may be Mono.

Noone: A yellow raincoat.

The Counsellor: Yellow? Was anyone around?

Interesting how the Yellow raincoat immediately picked his attention. Who was his sister, RCG? One of the ladies? Six? Someone we haven’t encountered yet? Who knows.

In the end I liked how they left the ending open (where did Noone go? Will we ever see her again?) and The counsellor’s identity ambiguous.

I hope you know I had so many thoughts I needed to make a document /lh /gen

but here you go !! I hope this is something people can understand because I'm working on a fast pace with my writing at the moment so some typos or grammar errors, and any clarification, you can give me a soft lil' ask on it ! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M41vWw3GWgsVhK2PEMDSrZss9rjhieDjEbHozyhhYgM/edit?usp=sharing

this is one of the huge ass reasons I consider the ending of the sounds of nightmares to be so bad, not in terms of writing but for the characters because really, throughout the podcast, I feel like some people within the fandom forget WHY the ferryman to me, is justifiably hated not just because of the fact we're talking about how Otto's own, and likely only relative got taken from him at a young age causing extreme trauma but for as better as the nowhere seems in allowing kids the chance to defend themselves against monsters, there is this constant underlying theme and narrative throughout the dreams noone has where all the kids Die, like straight up just DIE and you see it time and time again because none of these children are equipped for this world they were pushed into, noone might've got here willingly but that doesn't mean others did and that's a heavy distinction whereas noone to me has no idea what she's walking into in a realistic sense. we've seen how the nowhere has the tendency to twist and morph these children, even turning them into monsters, it is not a safe place, it can be a place where noone gets to finally have their moment of complete health, of not feeling the effects of the water disease, the headaches, the tumor that grew into her head but remember it got there because of the nightmares, it looked like an eye, and to me that symbolises the simple fact the more noone would deny the nightmares, the more internally, they'd come for her, they would take away her health, to make her be manipulated into the idea that the nowhere is the safer option, and it also could've been a side effect of otto's meddling but I just don't believe that, up to this point, you can see that really, he's only trying to read her mind and the limits he takes with the experiments always goes to just wearing helmets, connecting things up to the brain, but never going as far as to push a boundary he at least knew would put noone off with the fact he didn't do tubes in her stomach or worse things like noone's old doctor, he denied her of her place to discuss her mental health and overall had major issues in his behaivor and as a whole just had been difficult with the truth, but you know to me, the best thing about otto in noone's circumstance is he at least, when it counted, respected her wishes, and that to me is really the most that could make me feel he still wanted to help her, in spite of the fact he was so stuck in his own ways. he wanted to help her for his own benefit, but he was still trying, and really, I can't blame otto for being at least distraught with noone when she did go, because if these nightmares indicate anything and also, take it into account that otto killed a moth, something noone loved and told him they had a fascination / fixation on, and all of the kids in the nightmares were constantly dying ( I include rusty in this ) so to some extent, to me, that symbolized one thing, noone accepting the nowhere was worse than any disease because she is actively engaging with potential death

Noone choosing to take the Ferryman's hand:

Imma be honest, I hate Noone for choosing the Ferryman but I still understand her choice. But still...

Basically Noone wanted to leave Otto so she can finally rest and not be experimented anymore, but as much as I understand her situation I still think that she shouldn't have second or triple thoughts about joining Nowhere. Like she literally saw children dying almost all the time and the adults are far, far, FAR worse than Otto.

Maybe if Noone really thought about it and notice that Otto was hurt by the Ferryman taking his sister, she could have realize that he is just as scared as her.

Also I NEVER believed that the Ferryman "saved" Noone at all! Cause base from the LN comics, he takes children away from the moment their life is in grave danger and comes in to the rescue to look like their savior then he takes them to the Maw which is where children are lock up, kept from escaping, getting killed, turned into the Guest's meal and turn into Nomes. The Ferryman is the bad guy here, yes Otto was bad but he would obviously lose his job and get arrested if he ever took it too far.

While in Nowhere, it's either get killed or kill to survive, Noone is obviously gonna regret chosing Nowhere, like Rusty and Low. She will try and find a way back to the real world, but the end will be ugly like with Rusty.

If I had to choose between getting experimented and lied to OR go into a world where everything and everyone is gonna kill you for their own needs no matter what, then I'll go with the experiments! What would you do?

And the Ferryman knew this would happen if he continue to appear in Noone's dream, making her think she'll be safe if she enters through Nowhere as a whole, if he continue to torment Otto by his riddles and signs of him taking Noone the same way he took his sister.

If Noone and Otto had just talked to each other, tell each other the truth about themselves, even ONE talk... They could have realize what they're doing, what they're thinking to do is wrong and how much the Ferryman messed with their mind! And Otto change his way of treatment, Noone being fully honest with herself and maybe, JUST maybe TSON could have a good ending.

like I always found it interesting that the one thing about the sounds of nightmares is that it always showed on some level every child noone met died and even when noone did finally meet someone who didn't die, the fairy, aka one of the nomes, that still at the end of the day, is a lesser version of who that nome was, who likely got turned into the lady and also makes me suspect whatever that one episode regarding it was, which I think was chapter five, had to be an area around the maw because the water and the idea of someone within the water makes me think of the granny to some extent so it could be connected to that but as a whole : the nowhere may seem like a safe place for noone but for so many people, it is not, and that is something to keep in mind and not forget because I feel like in forgetting, we do miss a larger point to be made especially in the idea that a lot of those kids, especially rusty, just wanted to get out.
