A rainy night in a cave
Aether x reader

-Fluff, reader has problems with sleeping outside for the first time

You were trembling in a small cave in the middle of the woods. You, Aether and Paimon were on a quest, which was nothing unusual for them, but it was for you. This was the first time you joined the traveler on one of his adventures after he was nagging you about it for days now. It wasn't a long trip you thought, but in the big excitement you forgot about one of your weaknesses. You're not the best at sleeping at new places, mostly not where you haven't been... And now you're literally outside, in the rain among trees, animals, and monsters near by. How can your friends sleep so easily like this... You slowly sit up after moving around for quite a while. You're looking out of your temporary residence, how the trees are moving in the wind, and how the water is dripping down in front of you to the wet ground making a big mud puddle in front of you. You didn't notice that the boy behind you also woke up because of the thunder. Y/n? What are you doing...?"-he's rubbing his eyes with a tired expression-"Is there something wrong?" -he asks. "No.. No-Sorry did I wake you?" - you turn around to look at him. His eyes were glowing in the small light of the moon. You would adore it some more but a big rumbling from the sky makes you jump. Aether giggles at you quietly. "You can't sleep right? Is it because of the rain?" - He whispers because the small companion is still sleeping. "No... Well yes that too. I just... Have a difficult time sleeping outside and stuff. But it's okay I fall asleep in a bit I'm sure-! I mean we did a lot of walking today. " - you smile awkwardly. "Oh, I'm sorry-Why didn't you told me? We could've look for something more house like."-he sighs, but his expression is worried. "No it's really fine, don't worry about it!"- you insist. He puts his hand on his chin and stays quiet for a bit. "Well you can come a bit closer to me, if you're worried about the monsters that is. It might help that I'm right next to you."-he smiles gently and takes your hand. "Let's try to sleep, okay? We have lots of walking to do tomorrow." You would insist, he's being too generous for such a childish problem, but his idea might work. So you just go with his idea. When you both are finally laying down again, face to face, he smiles at you once again to reassure you that everything will be okay. He slowly takes your hand in his, and put your hands between the two of your heads. It makes you a bit flustered, but you just give him a shy smile and try to sleep. You troubled him enough already."Good night y/n, I promise to protect you.
Aether x Reader || Glaze Lilies

"This one is delicious too," you said, swallowing another piece of the dish. “Paimon would probably create another stomach for these miracles.”
Aether chuckled softly as he bites off another piece of hot roll filled with traditional Liyue-rich stuffing. “I guess even that is not enough when the competition is the Sticky Honey Roast that Amber offered her.”
You smiled in response.
Late fall in Liyue was a beautiful time of the year.
The city was always full of red and gold colours like towns straight from fairy tales, but in this time, when the leaves have already turned dark orange and the air was carrying an aroma of seasonal seed cookies, Liyue looked even more breathtaking.
You were sure that it was Amber who made it possible for you to go somewhere on Aether's day off from doing… everything. Normally, you would be sitting in some restaurant watching Paimon heartlessly ordering all the dishes from a menu without looking at the number of zeros of each price.
But when Amber heard you mention dates accompanied by beautiful, falling leaves, she blushed as the flame of pure determination appeared in her eyes. In the evening she appeared in front of Paimon and offered her to go out to the city for one day.
Oh, if she only knew how much it will cost her...
"[Name], stay close to me, or I will lose you in this crowd." Aether gripped your hand tighter.
"Getting lost in such a big city would be romantic, wouldn't it?" you giggled.
"Getting lost and being found in the wrong place and time wouldn’t be," he replied. “Every city is much more dangerous when the night comes.”
You turned into another street to finally reach the viewpoint in Liyue.
You could see a lot more from there, but less people could see you. Who would twist their neck to see two little dots on top of a mountain?
"It's going to rain soon," Aether nodded at the clouds, which were moving quickly toward the city. He clicked his tongue. “If we don't want to get wet, we should be getting ready.”
"Oh, isn't that Aether?"
You turned around to see a girl approaching you two.
She was gorgeous—her long blonde hair waved in the breeze as if it existed only to be an effect for them. She had every girl's dream figure, bright, sparkling eyes, and rosy cheeks.
Perfect girl.
And the perfect person to compare yourself with to create a trillion complexes about your body.
She had a very charismatic, attractive aura around her, but the way she behaved towards Aether was slowly starting to bother you. Of course, it might just be some kind of funny, totally wrong prejudice against her, but ...
“[Girl's name]?” Aether muttered, not noticing your pleading gaze saying: ‘let's get out of here.’ “—What are you doing here?”
"I was just passing by," she laughed, her voice soft, pearl-like. “I couldn't go without saying hi, haha!” Then she looked at you and fixed you with a stare. It wasn't a cold look, but it wasn't friendly either. “And who is that?”
"Ah," Aether shook his head, as if only now remembering that he had not come here alone. He put his hand around your waist. “This is my girlfriend, [Name]”
“I didn't know you had a girlfriend! You always have to be so mysterious?” Aether rolled his eyes at her words, even if he smiled slightly. Then she turned to you. “Could I kidnap him for a moment? I need help moving my luggage to my new apartment.”
She grabbed his hand without waiting for your answer, as if it were a rhetorical question. As Aether released his hand from your waist, you felt as if you were left alone in a foreign land.
“I'll be back in a minute!” After these words, he turned to the blonde and at an equal pace, they turned around the corner of some house, behind the wall of which you could see an extremely high pile of boxes.
"It probably won't be a minute," you sighed.
You leaned against the railing and stared at the toes of your shoes, telling yourself that you should have opposed her. Would that be selfish? You've been dreaming about a date with Aether for so long, without third parties, and now that the moment has come, it turns out that someone will take from you your boyfriend anyway.
Five minutes passed... eight minutes... ten... thirteen...
After fourteen minutes, you got up and decided to check how much was already packed. Some of the super-heavy boxes seemed to be gone, but that was up for discussion since there were dozens of them here.
You couldn't find a familiar face in sight. Did... they just leave you here? More likely, they were just carrying some luggage into one of the nearby houses, but you couldn't knock on every door to find them—it would take hours.
You felt yourself slowly breaking down.
You knew you were a little (a little very much) jealous of this girl, but more depressing was the fact that this was going to be yours and Aether’s day. COMMON. Now you thought you were the loneliest person in the universe.
"I'm not going to get upset," you repeated aloud, trying to motivate yourself to leave this place. "I'll go... I’ll go somewhere and have a good time... alone."
With a quick step, as if you didn't want to think about this anymore, you turned back and followed the alleys you and Aether had previously travelled. You came to the food stores that you had only glanced at before, but you didn't have time to taste anything else because you were in a hurry to get to the viewpoint.
It is true that you ordered take-out rolls, but the whole range of different types of food seemed very tempting despite the filling bread.
And the smell of such highly seasoned dishes was tempting—very much.
"Sorry," a young girl approached you after you shoved a piece of meat into your mouth. You swallowed it quickly, almost choking on it. “Would you like to buy some flowers?”
“…Why not?” you replied.
The girl put the money in the pocket of her dress. Instead of putting a flower on your hand, she came closer and gently braided a glaze lily into your hair near right ear.
"Here you are," she replied and looked at you. A smile beamed across her face. “You look really pretty!”
"Thank you," you replied. You noticed that this was the last flower in her basket, and because of that, the ten-year-old girl seemed proud of herself. She walked away, thanking again for the purchase.
I think that one more on the other side and all would be perfect...
You glanced at the setting sun and concluded that you could give Aether a similar lily. Wouldn't that look cute on him? There was still some time before it will get completely dark. Even the rain clouds that had previously seemed to be crossing the sky at an alarming pace now seem to have stopped.
You finished eating and walked briskly towards the Danyu Ruins, hoping to find some pretty lilies on your way.
The silence, or rather the sound of the wind and the leaves rustling against each other, were the only thing that accompanied your footsteps since you left Liyue. It seemed relaxing at first, but now that the skies were a deeper blue than orange, you concluded that a travelling companion would not be a bad idea.
“They're here!” you finally found two lilies that glistened slightly in the dark. You collected them quickly and turned to head back into town.
…You were surprised when you encountered many, many roads, each of them unfamiliar.
"I should have left a trail of breadcrumbs," you joked, though panic had already paralyzed your legs.
Your problems were not diminished by the fact that you heard mad laughter near you. You felt your heart leap into your throat, tears welling up in your eyes as a figure emerged from behind the bushes.
Abyss mage.
You have heard about them from the stories of Aether, who sometimes told you about his adventures when you tried to bandage his wounds with a bandage, herbs, or other medicines.
As soon as your heart was beating, so quickly the magician saw you. He teleported a meter away from you and you started running.
Faster, faster, faster.
Before you ran a hundred meters, a mage appeared before you. You didn't even have time to stop when he waved his hand, and a large ice crystal formed in front of him. Huge and pointed towards you.
Almost as soon as it was launched, a certain force pushed both of you backwards. You felt pain in your left leg, but somehow you didn't fall. Strong arms held you and made you be in a comforting, familiar embrace.
You looked up to see Aether running towards the cliff to finally jump, open his gliding set and take you two away from the icy monster.
You didn't say a word to each other all this time.
As soon as you touched the ground, you stepped out of his embrace, as if feeling that you had abused his closeness too much. Instead, he grabbed your wrist, turned to face him, and initiated a long, passionate kiss.
He didn't pull away until you both were breathless, and your cheeks were burning like hot coals. You couldn't say you were cold anymore.
“Why?” He took a deep breath. However, his voice still trembled. “Why didn't you wait for me? If I did not make it on time—"
“I was waiting for you!” You interrupted him. You bit your lower lip as you tried to contain the tide of frustration. “It's you who disappeared somewhere. You went somewhere with that girl. I already thought you weren't coming back.”
Aether, an intelligent boy, immediately paraphrased your words "I was maybe jealous". At the thought, he smiled apologetically.
"Sorry," he said, scratching his neck. “I accidentally dropped a box on her leg and, oh, it was hard to treat someone who screams in pain before even a finger touches them…”
"Oh," you felt a deep flush of embarrassment coming up to your cheeks. Indeed, the previous redness of the cheeks did not disappear, but now it only preserved their shade for the next minutes. “I'm really sorry. I left you, put you and myself in danger, just to find some stupid flowers...”
For the third time since finding you, Aether hugged you tightly. He planted a kiss on the top of your head. You stood for a few minutes in pleasant silence, cuddling tightly to each other, and finally, you both relaxed completely.
You took the tangled lilies out of your pocket; one was practically worn out, but the other seemed to be in good condition. You dropped the massacred one, and you tried to straighten the petals with your fingers.
"Turn around," you told him.
He did it without batting an eye. You ran your fingers through his hair and braided his plant into a braid.
Out of the corner of your eye, you thought yours, still artfully arranged, flashed a pleasant blue light as Aether examined his looks.
"It suits you," you said. You both decided to go back to Liyue and spend the rest of the night there. You held hands all the way back.
"You too," he replied. "We are complementing each other very nicely now with these flowers ...and also without them," he added with a smile.
"So, you still think getting lost isn't romantic?" You looked at him from under your lashes.
“Still. I wish I could have you with me without any excuse that you will get lost.”

(Sfw) How you spend time with each other in the winter

Characters: Aether, Ayato, Childe, Diluc, Xiao x GN!Reader
Warnings: Ayato is strong enough to catch you (canon tbh), Childe and you kiss but it doesn't get steamy, Xiao is strong enough to carry you (extremely canon tbh)
Notes: For aether's part, let's pretend that you can make it snow in a teapot 🫣 , милая means "darling"

"Here you go love," Aether says, handing you a cup of hot cocoa. You smile at him and make room on the couch for him, opening up the giant fuzzy blanket for him to get under.
Aether had done a lot of commissions in the past week, leaving you two unable to spend a lot of time together. It made for some lonely nights, with you having to entertain yourself in the teapot. Today was different-- he had cleared all commissions early and let Jean know that any requests for him were to either be redirected to someone else or have to wait until another day. Today was focused on you, his lover. And he intended to keep it that way.
Once he got comfortable, you adjust so you can lean on him, resting your head on his shoulder. He gives you a kiss on your forehead and rubs your side, causing you to melt as you feel his calloused hands through your shirt. The fireplace was ablaze, warming the entire room up as you watch the snow fall outside.
"I missed this," you sigh, closing your eyes. He nods, taking a sip of his own mug.
"I did too."

In preparation for Christmas, you took it upon yourself as the Lady of the Estate to hang up decorations. Ayato and many of the other servants insisted it wasn't necessary, but you refused to sit by.
"I've decorated my house for years with my family. This will be no different," you explained a few days ago. He wanted to push back, but he figured that there was no harm. Besides, he couldn't deny that seeing the childlike wonder in your eyes from gathering Christmas decorations made him happy for you. This brings you to where you are today.
You were currently decorating the hallways of the estate with wreaths and garlands. Servants would come in throughout the process to drop off more decorations for you to use, or to offer snacks for both you and Ayato. With you on the ladder, everyone was slightly on edge about you falling down. With Ayato there to catch you though, they said nothing.
"Babe, can you pass me a wreath?" He looks up at you and nods, reaching down to grab a wreath from a crate and hand it to you. You thank him and shuffle around on the ladder step to hang it on the pillar, connecting it to some garland. You lean back a bit to admire your work, glancing down the hallway. It's nice to see it all come to fruition slowly. At this rate, it'd be decorated right before Christmas and before families would come over.
As you move to get down, you misstep, tripping on your own feet and falling off. You yelp in surprise and attempt to grab a ladder step, but your fingers just barely brush against it before you're out of reach. Ayato doesn't miss a beat and immediately rushes forward to catch you, gathering you in his arms. You immediately cling to his body, breathing heavily as the quick adrenaline rush you got from falling runs through your body.
Ayato shakes his head and carefully sets you down on the ground, making sure you're able to stand steadily.
"Why don't we take a break?" He suggests, carefully dusting off your clothes. You nod in agreement-- now was a good time for a break.

You and Childe decided to throw a holiday party back at his family house in Sneznyha. Many of the younger kids were running around, laughing, and sneaking cookies off of various trays. The adults were milling around, catching up, and enjoying the drinks all the while gossiping with each other. The energy was high and everyone was having a good time.
You take out the Coulibiac pie you were baking-- Childe's mother had given you the recipe and you wanted to attempt to make it. The smell of spices and baked meat floods the kitchen. It was enough to drag Childe away from wherever he was.
"It smells good, милая (darling)," he comments. You jump a bit in surprise, not expecting to hear anyone, but immediately relax as you feel his warm arms wrap around your waist. You can tell he's already had a bit to drink-- alcohol clings to his clothes like cologne. You wiggle out of his hold, earning a quiet whine.
"I'm glad you think so, but it's hot. I don't want to drop it or burn myself," you gently chide him, walking over to set down the pie on a cooling rack.
"But I miss you," he continues to whine. "You've been cooped up in here all night while the rest of us are out there."
You roll your eyes and flash him a cheeky grin, taking off your apron and setting it aside. You check your reflection in a nearby kitchen, making sure you still looked presentable as you dusted off any food that may have gotten on you.
"Alright, I'll get out there then," you decide, and he cheers, walking up to take your hand. You smile and cross the doorway to enter the living room. However, you don't get far before you feel a tug on your arm and you're pulled slightly back. Confused, you look at Childe.
"What's wrong, baby?" He points up, and you follow your gaze. There was mistletoe hanging over the doorway arch. Your cheeks warm up and you sputter, trying to get words out. Childe's grin widens as he gets closer and gently cups your face between his hands.
"Cat got your tongue, милая?"
You don't get a moment to respond as he leans down and brushes his lips against yours. Instincts take over and you're wrapping your arms around his neck.

When you told Diluc you wanted to bake, he was more than happy to encourage you to do so. Adelinde was surprised but was willing to take a break and have you work on Christmas desserts. You invited Diluc to join you and he agreed, assuming that the process would be calm and straightforward-- your confidence had him believe you had done this enough times to be neat.
He was quickly proven wrong when he stopped to take a look around the kitchen after you both had been baking for the past two hours. The dough was spilled on the counters, the icing was everywhere, and raw eggs and milk were spilled on the counters and in the sinks. It was truly a nightmare.
"You know, when you said you wanted to bake, I assumed that it would be a neater process," he confessed, turning to you. You look up from the cookies you were haphazardly decorating, smearing red icing on what Diluc can only assume was supposed to be a stocking.
"I never said I was the best baker, darling. I said I love baking," you explain. He sighs, nodding.
"I suppose that's right. Adelinde will kill us both and never let us back in the kitchen after this, I'm afraid.'
You giggle, shrugging your shoulders.
"That's alright. I wanted to just do this once, for Christmas. And I'm glad I got to do it with you."
Diluc's chest swells and his face reddens, matching his firey locks. You laugh at this and wave him over, holding up a cookie for him to try.
"C'mon, let's eat some of these before Adelinde gets on our cases."

Xiao didn't often go out and about the city-- he kept to himself mostly. He only appeared to those who called out his name, or when he was at Wangshu Inn to get some almond tofu and recuperate. So when you asked him to take a wall through Liyue Harbor, he hesitated.
"I don't want to cause a commotion for you. I'm an Adeptus, Y/N," he explains. You shrug and turn to grab your winter coat.
"Many of the people of Liyue remember when you and the other Adepti helped save the country from Osial. I can't blame them for getting excited at the prospect of seeing you in person," you counter. As you adjust your coat you look over at Xiao who gives you a pensive look. "If you don't want to come that's fine. I just wanted to ask because I thought it'd be fun!"
He stands there for a bit, watching you finish getting dressed. Just as you grab the door handle to open, he grabs your hand. Surprised, you look back at him, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes?" He's quiet, almost hesitating to speak.
"I'll come with," he decides. It's quiet for a bit, but slowly a smile breaks out across your face. You open the door and tug him out of your house, laughing.
"Then let's go!"
The day is spent walking around the harbor, talking to various shop owners, and trying out the hot and fresh street food various merchants were selling. You offer Xiao to try a steamed meat bun. He denies the offer at first but at your insistence, he takes a bite. The way his eyes light up as he eats was something you'll never forget. He had gotten excited and ended up devouring half of the bun before realizing you and the merchant were staring at him in amusement. He's quick to compose himself and shove the other half of the bun in your hands.
Xiao was hounded a bit, what with people recognizing him as one of the saviors of the harbor, but it didn't lessen your fun going out and about. It was fun to see him get embarrassed by all the well-deserved praise. By the end of your journey around the harbor, you had gotten tired and passed out on a bench while waiting for Xiao to finish talking with some kids. Noticing your slumped-over figure on the bench, he scoops you up into his arms and begins his journey back to your house. He easily could've teleported back, but he found that he enjoyed holding you like this.
"I want to enjoy this feeling a little longer."

The length of the sections does not indicate favoritism-- it's just how I ended up writing the scenarios.

Requests are open~!

Hello, how are you? How was your day?
May I request Aether angst :)
I love my traveler, but I have to do this lmao-
Basically Aether's s/o dying or something else? Like maybe getting injured or them arguing and breaking up only to die or whatever you want ^^
I just want angst with my boy—
I'm just in a mood for angst (I got injured because I wasn't aware of my surroundings and now I'm sure I'll have a big scar on my back 👌)
Hello Anon, I’ve been good, and my day has been pretty good, thanks for asking! I hope that your back doesn’t scar too badly, but here’s your angst.
Masterlist
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
“Aether, I promise I will travel with you until the end of my days, forevermore.”
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Why weren’t you moving? Why were you so still?
Why weren’t you telling him that everything would be ok?
All he could do was watch as you used your body to shield him from the blow that the Abyss Lector he was fighting had directed at him, shoving him out of the way and taking it full force. You had had an argument a few hours prior, but he refused to think of that now, not when you were on the ground bleeding out. He had killed the Abyss Lector by now, and Dainsleif was watching as you looked at him. He had tried to save you both, but couldn’t make it in time.
Aether ran over and slid beside you, lifting you up into his arms as you weakly looked up at him, lifting a hand to gently cup his face. You smiled sadly up at him as Dainsleif handed him some bandages to help patch you up. “Aether…” you mumbled, gently wiping away his tears as he cried. You were losing blood fast, but he still kept wrapping your waist in bandages. “No, don’t. You’re going to be ok, please be ok.” He was mostly saying it to himself, refusing to accept the fact that he may very well lose someone else close to him. “Aether, stop. It’s too late for me.” You whispered. You were getting weaker by the second, holding onto your life more desperately with each passing moment you struggled to breathe. “I- I’m sorry. I’m sorry for yelling at you, I’m sorry for telling you that you couldn’t join me on this adventure. I’m sorry for dragging you down with me like this. Please, please don’t leave, don’t go, not now.” He begged, tears continuing to stream down his face. “Aether, listen to me, please.” You whispered. Your vision was getting foggy and blurred, like you were looking through a steam covered window at him. “Don’t regret your actions. I don’t regret mine, and I don’t regret loving you. You’re the one who has helped me persevere and push through my struggles. That’s why what I’m about to say next brings me great sorrow. I know I won’t be able to join you on the rest of your journey, but please, do me the kindness of never regretting your actions, no matter how insignificant they may seem.” You whispered, letting tears of your own fall. “I forgave you a while ago, Aether, and I will never hold anything against you, I love you too much to do that.” You whispered, shivering slightly. He caught you by surprise when he kissed you, his lips warm against your cold ones. “It’s so cold, Aether. Keep me warm until I go, will you?” You asked, looking up at him as your vision darkened. He nodded softly, hugging you tightly as he held you in his arms. “Thank you for being there for me and loving me as I am, I shall forever watch over you.” You whispered, your grip on his shoulder loosening. You closed your eyes and smiled one last time as your body went limp in his arms. Aether stayed like that for a while, neither Paimon nor Dainsleif daring to get closer to him. He pressed his forehead against yours and let his tears fall, looking at the smile you last graced him with. “Thank you, (Y/N), for forgiving me.” He whispered, gently setting you down on the soft grass below.
Hu Tao was surprised to see Aether walk in with a somber look on his face, a list in his hands filled with last wishes that you had told him before, knowing that the life of an adventurer wouldn’t be easy or safe. Within a few hours, a funeral had already been prepared for you, and he was glad for it. Zhongli stood silently beside him as he watched Hu Tao hand him the urn that contained your ashes, barely on the verge of crying herself. “Be careful with her, Traveler.” She mumbled, casting him a sad smile.
Aether stood at the top of Starsnatch Cliff, holding the urn and the locket that contained some of your ashes. He took a deep breath and then opened the lid, looking out over the sea and then at the jar. The wind was particularly strong today, for which he was thankful to Barbatos for making it so. Aether spoke softly. “Here we are, (Y/N), Starsnatch Cliff. You said you wanted to go here when you… you know. You deserve that freedom, since you let me have some sort of comfort in your last moments. I promise you that I won’t regret my decisions, and that includes this one.” He said, taking handfuls of the ashes and scattering them in the wind. He did so until the jar was empty, before turning back to join Paimon. He had a new goal in mind, to not only find Lumine, but to also remember the sacrifice you made for him, and to honor that sacrifice by seeing his journey through to the very end.
